Jiggly Japanese Pancakes Debut in Houston — And More Fall Desserts to Try | Eater Houston

"A recently arrived Korean cafe on Bellaire Boulevard serves gigantic slices of toast spiced with cinnamon, showered in caramel, and topped with a scoop of fluffy whipped cream; the over-the-top toast is recommended paired with a rich hot chocolate for a cozy fall indulgence." - Amy McCarthy

Stopped by Tom N Toms on Bellaire and had a great experience. The drinks were solid, and the snacks hit the spot. Chill vibe inside—plenty of space to hang out or get some work done. Staff was friendly and welcoming. Will be back.

Tom N Toms Coffee never disappoints! The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, perfect for both working and relaxing. Their coffee is always fresh and rich in flavor, and their pastries are a great complement. The staff is friendly, efficient, and always ensures a great experience. Whether you’re stopping by for a quick pick-me-up or spending time with friends, this place is a go-to.

Great little coffee shop. I was in the mood for something non caffeinated and ordered a Chai Tea Latte. It was delicious. Loved the atmosphere and especially the music they were playing. Highly recommended

I used to love coming here. A couple of years ago, the food and drinks were great and the owner was always kind and welcoming. I recently returned after a few weeks away and was shocked by how much has changed. The staff seemed disorganized, the service was extremely slow, and the employees were rude to customers. What upset me the most was overhearing staff talking badly about me in another language, assuming I wouldn’t understand. I’ve supported this place for years and often recommended it to friends, but I don’t feel comfortable coming back anymore. I hope the owner or manager reads this and seriously addresses the behavior and training of the staff.

Great atmosphere for studying! Got to try the tortilla pizza with corn and sausage and although it sounds weird and random it was surprisingly really great! The tortilla was soft and it tasted a little buttery but crunchy. Not heavy, very light but filling! Would definitely recommend and try again. Haadi was super cool made the place feel welcoming and friendly. Coffee was great too!

This review is solely based off an average of my overall experience. Firstly, when walking in my daughter and I were absolutely NOT greeted. My daughter even mentioned it, because she was raised knowing that when you walk into a business first impression is everything. Wanting someone to patronize your business, something as simple as speaking to them and acknowledging their presence is the least you can do. That alone would have made me walk right out of any other business immediately, but my daughter has been raving to try this place after I showed her a picture my friend posted when she brought her daughter. As I proceeded to walk to the register the young lady still did not say a word to us and just stood there staring until I finally opened my mouth to place my order. My daughter and I went to the bathroom and as I told the young lady as she worked on orders, she made the comment that the right bathroom was out of order. With her making that comment, I figured maybe there was not a sign, to only walk back there and the bathroom clearly shows an out of order sign. That instantly strikes me, because it made me wonder did she think I couldn’t read or understand an obvious sign on the door? Lastly, what took the cake is the closing. She called my name and as I proceeded to get our food, I said thank you and she said nothing. Not a word was spoken back and she just walked away from the counter. RUDE and UGLY behavior. I asked to speak to the manager and a guy who addressed himself as Albert stated that he was the manager. I expressed exactly what happened and how I will not be returning based on that interaction alone. I also stated to him that I hope the food is good since I will not be returning and how he needs to speak with his employees on customer service and business etiquette. This is poor if this is their normal protocol and if it’s not she needs to be retrained. Such a cute place to go to waste, because the breads we got were actually good, but I stand behind my morals and expectations when spending my money anywhere. I am a Google Local Guide and a foodie that posts reviews on Houston and surrounding areas and I will be advising my followers on the experience I had here!

Google
I’m really getting more and more disappointed with this place. I used to be a regular, coming here two or three times a week, but everything has changed. My favorite pizza has become almost inedible, and they don’t even bother to cut it. The man at the front counter taking orders looked extremely impatient and rude. I won’t be coming back.

Excellent choices. The atmosphere is friendly. It is perfect to work or share with friends! You can even print. Coffee were enjoyable. We have not tried the food items. Good place to chill out

Yelp
Tom N Toms Coffee was our last stop before heading on a long road trip home, so we wanted a quick pick-me-up before setting off. My order was the 12oz iced green tea latte, which was a little on the sweeter side, but I didn't mind. Pricing was lovely, sitting at $4.95 for a 12oz and only a little more for 16oz, and both baristas were very friendly and attentive. My father had ordered nothing but espresso, and they had asked if he wanted anything else with the espresso, as it is very strong and bitter by itself - just to make sure he enjoyed his drink. Overall, love the quiet atmosphere and ambience throughout the cafe. There are many outlets and stable wifi available for use, so there were plenty of students completing their work there. Not to mention, Tom N Toms also offers a wide variety of snacks and foods alongside coffee and tea, all of which look fulfilling and delicious - so customers looking to sit down and lock in can remain full and focused in the time they're there. ^-^

Yelp
We went after dinner for some coffee and desserts. We got some caramel macchiatos and some other coffees with the three french toast options. Out of the three french toast options we thoroughly enjoyed the nutella choco bread and the caramel one. The drinks were pretty normal but not outstanding. Noce quiet place to drop by to study or just enjoy the ambiance. It was cool seeing all the new menu items and the new sweet potato pizza drop. The baristas were all very helpful and sweet. Thanks for accommodating our nine person party.

Yelp
Stopped by Tom N Toms Coffee in Chinatown and had a great experience! While the menu isn't as extensive as the Spring Branch location, the quality and flavors are definitely still there. We tried the Bulgogi Pretzel and Buldak Pretzel--both were warm, savory, and packed with flavor. The buldak had a nice spicy kick that paired perfectly with the doughy pretzel. We also ordered the pepperoni pizza, which came out fresh and cheesy with a nice crispy crust. And for dessert, the caramel cinnamon bread was absolutely delicious--sweet, gooey, and perfect for sharing (though you may not want to!). The vibe was chill, the place was clean, and the staff were friendly. It's a great spot to relax, snack, and sip on something warm. We'll definitely be back! Yelp
I love their selection of coffees and lattes! They had a pandan latte and last time I went, the barista worked with me to come up with a drink that included Ube foam. I ended up getting a taro latte with Ube foam. I only wish that they open sooner so I could go during the week before work. Will definitely be back!

Yelp
Amazing drinks! Amazing pastries! The pretzels are made as you order, not frozen or prepackaged!!! You see them making them with dough and fresh ingredients!!! I ordered the Vietnamese coffee with mint and a mocha!!! Yum!! I been here 2x , yesterday and today lol and will be coming here from now on!!! I can honestly say I found my coffee place!!! The Italian pretzel was crispy but chewy and soft from inside and the jalapeño pretzel cheese was not overwhelming!!! The bread is delicious! Soft and fluffy and you can get so many flavors so don't hesitate to try them all!!! The ambience is perfect for students and even to come and chill while you chat! They do have a printer for a low price to get your work done here! The music is different but relaxing and gives the chill ambiance but not too loud!!! Customer service is good! They are very attentive and make sure you get your order quick!!! But do know everything is fresh so give them a break because they are baking and hands on 100%!!

Yelp
LOVED this place! Needed a cute coffee shop to work at while visiting Houston and TnT was the perfect stop. The WiFi is STRONG, the lattes and smoothies were delicious, and the food was very filling and flavorful! It was so good we went back a second time :P Service was great

Yelp
During my first three years in medical school, Tom N Toms was one of my most visited study spots. I don't think Chinatown has any other coffee shops as suitable as this one for getting work done. The seating arrangements are spacious, comfortably fitting 2 to 4 people depending on the table size. LoFi music plays at a quiet level and an air machine blows in the back which makes for decent white noise. Sunlight comes through a narrow but sufficient window area on one side. Overall, the vibe here is chill with a transition to dim lighting as the day progresses. Though not enough to count as an entire meal, they serve a variety of delicious snacks. Their honey garlic butter bread, my personal favorite, blends sweet and savory together in a surprising but welcome way. I also enjoy their strawberry premium yogurt smoothie; not sure what makes it premium vs. their plain smoothie but refreshing nonetheless. My only gripe is the lack of cushioning on the wooden seats against the wall. It becomes increasingly uncomfortable the longer you sit and practically impossible for me to ignore after two hours. I find myself having to walk it off periodically (which I suppose is not necessarily a bad thing... sitting is the new smoking). You can also sit in one of the cushioned chairs on the opposite side of the table for relief. If you need a place to be productive for several hours while staying in close proximity to the hotspots of Chinatown, this is your place. WiFi speeds are ~68.5 Mbps down and 13 up, which are somewhat above average compared to other coffee shops. However, be aware that the booth seats start getting really uncomfortable after about 4 hours.

Yelp
There aren't that many good coffee shops to study at in Chinatown, but Tom N Toms is definitely one of them. With a large open area and plenty of tables and seating, along with outlets everywhere, it's easy to come here to get lost in your work or studies. The Thai tea iced latte, even without added sugar, is on the pretty sweet side. But it was delicious and creamy. Other pluses are that everything is clean, they have free printers for your use and the service was n is and quick.

Yelp
Nice and cozy cafe! Definitely a great place to study for those that like more quiet spaces. I've been here a couple of times & their food and drinks were alright. Seating is a hit or miss. As for parking, they have a garage if there's no spot in the front. Everything came out at a good time. Definitely worth coming to experience!

Yelp
I love the vibes inside this place. It's a great place to lounge and do work, play games with friends, or just simply hangout. It's very spacious with a lot of seating area, and I like that it's located on Bellaire Food Street, so you can easily go from one place to the next. I got the honey garlic butter bread, and it was so soft and the perfect combination of salty and sweet. The service was also efficient since you just order at the counter and pickup your food from the front once it's ready.
google avatar

Jando S.

Yelp
There is no shortage of cafes in Bellaire Chinatown but most are too small to accommodate a working crowd. Located within the strip of Bellaire Food Street is Tom N Tom's, one of my favorite haunts to go and get things done on a computer. The WiFi is fast, the space and seating is second to none, and the have lots of munchies and drinks to keep us caffeinated. It's almost always busy here. Weekends can be a lost cause during the day time and the weekdays aren't going to fare much better. The speedy WiFi hs a lot to do with it and the customer service is always on point. A few more reasons why I love this place: :: There are outlets everywhere. I've never had a problem finding a place to charge my phone, laptop. :: They have a printer. Free prints for everyone. :: They have an interesting system for each table designed by green / red status cards based on if a table is ready. It's sort of like a Brazillian Steakhouse. :: Service is always on point.

Yelp
This is definitely my new go-to drink spot! This place feels so relaxing--it's nice to just sit and unwind here.

Yelp
I have been looking for a place to study and get great coffee that doesn't involve driving downtown and am so glad to have stumbled across here. I love that the space is more quiet and there is ample seating. I purchased an iced camomile tea while I studied and it was so refreshing. The staff was very friendly and inviting.
google avatar

Morgan P.

Yelp
This place is so cute. I had come on a weekday so maybe it tends to be busier on weekends, but it was the perfect study place. Fairly quiet and spacious inside. Coffee was great and they had lots of options. I'll have to try a pastry next time :)

Yelp
Been coming to Tom N Toms since they opened a few years ago. Great for studying, getting work done, and of course getting a tasty treat. Service is friendly and it's also a nice place to chat and catch up with people. There is a steady dose of noise as it does it crowded, which also means it does get difficult to find a seat, which could even be the case in the middle of the day. Definitely the go-to spot for coffee in the Chinatown area. Oh, and parking is a problem too as it is very limited in the Bellaire Food Street center. However, there is additional garage parking further down, which usually has open spots available on the ground level. Never had to go to 2nd floor.
google avatar

Yelp
I love the ambience in this coffee shop very chill and low lighting which calls for sensory friendly attributes. They are one of the only coffee shops I've seen serve Horchata Frappuccino. I was looking for a place that had this specific drink since the last time I had it was on a trip to Mexico and to my surprise I find it in Bellaire. The service is good. I don't remember how the restrooms looked since I didn't use it. I also think it is spacious for wheelchair users.
google avatar

Michelle D.

Yelp
First time! Outlets EVERYWHERE! (on the floor too where the center tables are) lots of seating. I got the pizza pretzel (9/10 smaller than expected) + Thai tea latte (10/10 basically a creamy version of Thai tea) Wifi is fast, line/service is fast, outlets everywhere, food/vibe is good. 10/10 place. Great place to study & work.
google avatar

Caroline N.

Yelp
One of my favorite study spots in Houston with ample seating and charging! The caramel tomcino (misspelled sorry) is always deliciously sweet with the caffeine kick I need to get my work done. they also serve food here, recently I tried the Bulgogi pretzel with marinara. There is curbside parking available but also an adjacent free parking garage. My main gripe with this place is that it can get pretty hot, especially if you're sitting towards the front close to the door and windows (it's like this most times I come, which is why I can't give five stars).
google avatar

Gloria J.

Yelp
pretzel thing was very yummy ‍‍‍ loved the rose latte too I think the nice barista man made the pretzel too..? :0 Saw him put on gloves, if so props for bulgogi pretzel decent amount of seating, wasn't super busy on a thursday @6pm so was pretty chill would 100% come again (this was my first time here)

Yelp
I've been eyeing this place for a while as I've been taking my mom to a health provider across the street. Finally got the opportunity to check them out today. They have a good variety of espresso drinks and non-coffee items. I went with the Tom's mocha with cinnamon so it wasn't super sweet which I liked. I got the sweet potato pretzel which was a unique item to me. It's got the sweet potato filling and cheese on top. That was sufficient for me and I didn't need the additional caramel dipping sauce. I'm in town visiting family so it's nice to see Chinatown has a good variety of options. I'd love to come back and try the pandan latte!

Yelp
Tom n Toms Coffee is my go to study spot in the Chinatown Bellaire part of Houston, TX. Service is quick, plenty of tables and outlets for getting work done, and the drinks/food are consistently really good. Ambiance wise, it's chill. They usually have soft pop, R&b, kpop, or some kind of modern coffee shop vibe music softly playing in the background. I usually order their oriental latte w/ coconut milk, it's not too sweet and their espresso quality really comes through. I do appreciate that they even have a printer to print things, you just connect to it via Bluetooth and their wifi. Then if you get hungry, I'd recommend their Korean bulgogi stuffed pretzel. Overall Tom n Toms Bellaire is the best coffee shop to study at in Bellaire. The workers are friendly, and you can't beat the number of tables/power outlets they have available. Enjoy!
google avatar

Yelp
Saw this place numerous times when I'm in a Bellaire areas and finally decided to stop by. Food and drink was OK. Nice ambiance. Staffs were friendly
google avatar

Yelp
This is the best coffee shop ever! It's like it's made for working. Good size tables for my double screens, plus there are electrical outlets at every table. Quiet, great coffee, and clean restrooms. The staff is very nice as well.
google avatar

Yelp
Refreshing ice tea's! Yummy coffee too. The Italian Pretzel was so good, no picture of that but I will return!
google avatar

Yelp
Love this place! Great spot to hang out or get some work done. There's plenty of seating. The bread is to die for!! Sooo so good. Fluffy yet crisp on the outside. I got the cookie butter one and it sure is sweet! I really enjoyed it though! I had the oriental latte with oat milk. They have several milk alternatives. It was sweet but delicious! I will definitely be back, as the staff was so friendly!
google avatar

Yelp
I was really craving a good ol coffee after my dessert on a Saturday night and I found this location. To my surprise it was much more than coffee. The atmosphere of Tom's was refreshing and very calm, unlike other coffee shops I had been to. They have tons of seating to lounge or do homework. I chose their signature caramel iced latte and it was delicious. I definitely would try their Rose tea, but note it only comes as a hot tea. The guy that took my order was great at providing excellent service and providing me options to make sure I loved the drink. I will be back to try their other drinks and snacks they have to offer.
google avatar

Savannah N.

Yelp
I've been here a couple of times to study, and so far, every visit has been great. There are plenty of tables for studying and lounging, each equipped with an electrical plug--a convenience for my devices. However, they are a bit loose, so my charger would occasionally fall out, which isn't a big problem. Tom N Toms Coffee could be quite busy, especially on weekends. Despite that, every time I've come here, they've provided amazing service, and they promptly clean the tables after someone leaves. Not to mention, my go-to drink is the pandan latte, which strikes the perfect balance of sweetness and coffee. I would definitely recommend this place if you're looking for a good study session, catching up with friends, or just in need of coffee on the go. Additionally, the plaza tends to be busy, so parking might be a little tough, especially on weekends.

Yelp
The best coffee in the town; this store was so famous Korean coffee brand setting the exemplary store model for Tom N Toms

Yelp
Loved this place until today. I placed an online order, arrived, and waited almost 5 minutes before I was acknowledged, with an extremely disingenuous smile, by the young lady (large Afro) who proceeded to make two drinks before greeting me; mind you, she did see me walk in. Look, if you are having a bad day that is completely YOUR problem; customers should not have to sense it and/or be on the receiving end. She could certainly learn a lesson on customer service.

Yelp
Ideal Korean coffee spot in Houston to hunker down with a laptop and get your work done. The inside is very clean, quiet, well lit, and has plenty of seating. Tons of trendy Asian drink and snack options, and there even more snack/meals available at other restaurants in the same retail strip outside. Parking is tight and competitive in their parking lot, but you can find a spot if you wait and catch someone else leaving. I ordered the hot sweet potato latte. Very comforting on a cool day. It really does taste like sweet potato!! We also shared some pizza bread which took a while to come out but was delicious (and a bit spicy).

Yelp
Vibe- This is a fairly new coffee shop (about 3 years old I was told) in Bellaire Houston. There's plenty of seating space inside. I counted about 10 tables along the walls with multiple seats at each one. There's also a few higher tables and some round black tables (6) in the center with nice office looking chairs (10). They have nice soft music playing; this is a nice spot to come to chill, work, or study (there were many people studying and working when I went!) Customer service- Good. Food/drinks- I didn't get any food because there were no vegan options :( but I did get a horchata latte with oat milk and a green tea tomnccino and they were both really good! Parking- I got lucky and found an empty spot right in front of the shop but I can tell that on a busy day parking might be hard.

Yelp
I studied at this coffee shop for my undergrad, and now for my master. Tom n Tom has a great ambience, good drink selections, multiple outlet, great for studying/ working and friendly staffs. Here are few of my favorites: * Ube Viet Coffee: my current fav, introduced by Adrian when it wasn't even on the menu, I was simply asking about his favorite coffee at the shop and now it becomes mine. (Good job Adrian!) * Oriental latte: on a lighter note compared to the first one, reminding me of bac xiu- a lighter version of Viet coffee with more milk. * Pandan latte: this is probably the least strong out of those 3 but it's yummy, more like a "dessert coffee" but not too sweet with a hint of pandan flavor. * Honey garlic bread is yummy! My experience here for years has been great. Tom n Tom definitely has a special place in my heart.

Yelp
Yummy coffee, desserts are shareable portions, coffee is a bit more in the high end side at $7-$8 per cup. The place had a nice aesthetic and was pretty quiet overall and service was pretty fast as far as turnaround time.

Yelp
Nice atmosphere to work remotely or study. Food and drinks nicely priced and tasted great. Friendly staff.

Yelp
Such a cute place for a little coffee date or work time tried their Iced horchata latte and Cafe latte and they were really good. Really recommend their hawaiin pretzel so yummy! Everything was good, fast and fair priced. Service was quick and friendly!

Yelp
I've been here a couple times, and the service here is always quick. Their coffee/drinks are alright, but I enjoy their snacks (I tend to like stronger drinks, and theirs are pretty light and milky). I frequently get their honey garlic butter toast even though I know I can make it at home. The space is pretty large, and a nice place to study when they're not busy.
google avatar

Yelp
TNT is a great spot to study with lots of seating and is not too loud. I love the wood decor with the dim lighting but there is also a good amount of natural light that comes in. We ordered an iced vanilla latte and caramel macchiato and tried out the corn Italian pretzel with pizza sauce and caramel cinnamon toast. The coffee seems to be stronger than most and thankfully was not too sweet. The pretzel went well with the sauce and the corn was a nice addition. I personally really liked the toast that was topped with whipped cream and caramel drizzle. Will definitely be back to try their other items next time!
google avatar

Melissa H.

Yelp
Super clean and organized interior with lots of seatings. Every time I came the service has been friendly and accommodating! I love their Mocha tomnccino - other places usually put too much sugar or not enough coffee but Tom & Toms always blend a perfect balance. It's always quiet here so very ideal to study or get some work done.
google avatar

Yelp
popular study spot and good place for drinks and food! menu: caramel milk tea with soy milk is always my go to order! have also tried their tomnccinos and they are pretty good! food wise i love the pizza toast and i would always order it for a quick and cheap lunch (its $4!!!). i'm personally not the biggest fan of their breads but everyone else i know loves them so i would give them try. i have also head that their pretzels are good but havent tried it myself. seating: cafe is on the smaller side. they do have a lot of seating for the space but since its a popular study spot they tend to get filled up very fast. wifi: good wifi no complaints on that parking: since its located on the bellaire food street parking could be a nightmare depending on when you go but i've always have been able to find parking on the first floor when i go in the afternoons

Yelp
Not a bad spot if you need a quick coffee fix. It's a chill atmosphere where it is easy to run into people you know (for better or worse). I don't recommend this as a study or productivity space mostly due to the limited parking situation for the whole strip center. This obviously is a problem outside of the shop's control, but there are plenty of more accessible options to choose from. Electrical outlets are a bit limited as well, since the wall seating is usually already occupied. The iced vanilla latte leans towards the sweeter and syrupy end of the spectrum, I would not recommend it to those looking for a coffee forward drink. I have yet to try their pastry items since they appear pretty overpriced, but their menu looks like it has a fun variety.

Yelp
The interior design is really modern with wood and concrete tones mixed together. It provides a great studying experience with lots of natural light. Be aware that there is a 3.5% cash incentive built into their pricing, so I would also bring cash. Although I paid cash for my order, they still charged me the 3.5%. So just be sure to double check with the cashier if you're using the 'cash incentive' at checkout. Pros: Really clean atmosphere. Probably one of the best designed coffee shops in Houston. When we arrived, the owner offered to wipe down our table for us because someone had just left that table. I thought it was really nice touch that shows that the owner cares about the customer's experience. The music is not loud and this place can be a space for either small or large groups. The cashier was also great at answering questions I had about the menu. This place is also really the only decent coffee shop in this area. Areas for improvement: The prices are pretty high compared to other coffee shops in Houston but it's understandable given the location. I paid $6.90 for a medium tomnccino (ice blended drink) as a reference. I think this could improve by offering a rewards system to incentivize people to come back. Or offering free iced tea/coffee refills would be nice since people often come to study and certain other competitors already offer this option at a lower price point. Another area for improvement is the selection of coffee beans. While the milk and syrup based drinks are fine, the coffee beans are of unremarkable quality, which is expected for a franchise coffee shop. There's restrooms, good wifi, and outlets located at most tables in here.

Yelp
I came here to study a study a few times. The menu items are at a pretty good price. Sometimes the music is too loud, so I'd bring some headphones just in case to help you focus. Also, they have these wooden benches that really made my bottom sore, so I'd bring a jacket or something for a cushion lol. The service was adequate, they simply did their job. Decent experience overall.

Yelp
Great place to get some work done, friendly staff. My favorite is the taro latte!! The space is not too large but they seem to have enough outlets if you need one, and a good WiFi connection.

Yelp
It's a nice coffee shop to catch up with friends, cute modern decor. We got the pizza toast and the buldak pretzel, they were made fresh behind the counter. The pretzel was really spicy. Will be trying out their other location in Carrollton as well.

Yelp
Stopped here for a quick drink while waiting for a table at a restaurant nearby. I decided to get the Iced Thai Tea Latte as that seems like a pretty safe option with a milk substitution of soy milk. Just to clarify, when I normally order tea drinks from other places I stick to normal sugar and normal ice. However, the Thai Tea Latte was overwhelmingly SWEET. I think they put WAY too much creamer...to the point where it didn't even taste like Thai Tea. At some point I just decided to throw the drink away because it was just inedible. Perhaps their food or other drinks may be better, but I do not plan to come back here anytime soon.

Yelp
I love Toms N Toms! It's really nice and clean inside, and everything I have had here is good. The caramel cinnamon bread is a must have, and it's a big portion so it's a great option to share with another person or two. The only thing with this location is that it can get super crowded and busy in the lot that it's located in, so parking can be a hassle. Also, depending on the time, you might not find a table inside.

Yelp
Got the oriental iced coffee, probably one of the best I've had. Too bad it's far from me, would come everyday if I could
