"When we tell people that Toma is our favorite spot for quick Mexican in the Marina, the response is usually a blank stare or an attempt to correct our seemingly obvious error. "Oh, you mean Tacko?" No. We don’t mean Tacko. Tacko is the San Francisco version of George R.R. Martin’s naming convention. It’s like they just wanted to name the restaurant "Taco" but decided that wouldn’t fly, so they messed with the spelling. Total Uncle Kevan move. Anyway, we love Toma and we mean it. We aren’t confused. And while we don’t want it to turn into a lines-and-waits kind of place, the small taco shop deserves some attention. The people are nice, the salsa is fantastic, and the tortillas are cooked to order. And the tacos are awesome and ring up at under $5 each. The spot is easy to miss, since you enter through a nondescript door on Steiner Street, which has just a few chairs outside when it’s nice out. Roll up and order tacos at the counter—we’re partial to the carne asada. But on the occasional hungover weekend afternoon when getting here is half the battle, we order a breakfast burrito, which is the best you’ll find on this side of town. The breakfast burrito is available on weekends until 1pm, too, but expect to go to sleep after—it's heavy. Maybe a good work from home move. Food Rundown Chips & Guacamole Salty thick chips and stellar guacamole for under eight dollars. If you don’t get an order of this, you make questionable life choices. Did you go see Mortdecai on opening night? Tacos Carne asada or adobado (marinated pork) are the way to go. While the vegetable ones sound good, they tend to be a little dry. The housemade tortillas are cooked while you stand there, and the cilantro onion salsa is top notch. Breakfast Burrito Acceptable to eat for lunch, brunch or whenever you can avail yourself of one. Cheesy, eggy delight. We usually go for the huevos rancheros." - Taylor Abrams

"Great tacos are all over the city, but turn to Toma if you're in the Marina. Toma is such an amazing Mexican spot in SF! They have a pop up in SoMa until October, so we came to visit since it’s just a few blocks from my apartment. We had such a great time coming here to try their dinner and brunch menus. For dinner, you have to try their Birria Tacos! It tasted so good, especially when you dip it in the broth. Such a nice crunch! For brunch, their tacos and pozole (soup) will really fill you up! My favorite off the brunch menu was definitely the French toast because I have such a sweet tooth. The servers were really nice too. Definitely recommend.

We came for the Pre-Fixe Vibras Experience on Tock. We got a wide variety of tastes! And everything was very well made. Service was very good as well. Highlights: - Handmade blue corn tortillas - Elote street corn - Taquitos ahogados - Churros with cajeta

Small hole in the wall mexican eatery on the Steiner St in the Cow Hollow. If you are in the area and are looking for some quick yet flavorful and simple mexican fare at affordable prices with decent portion sizes, look no farther.

My boo found this spot on a fluke! Yumm We had shrimp/steak/chicken tacos plus a steak bowl also a chicken bowl and yes they too were delicious. If your in the Marina area stop by and get you some tasty street tacos or whats on the menu. You'll be satisfied.

Found this place because of a sign right off Chestnut St. Birria is served Fri-Sun and that’s what I ordered (quesatacos). Guacamole was alright but the tacos and house hot sauce were amazing.

I was looking for an affordable taco, but maybe I ended up at a cheap place. See for yourselves, there's not much to it for $4 bucks... Plus, the place could be a little cleaner!
