Tomato & Basil Taunton

I absolutely love the name of this restaurant. It sounds like the perfect Italian place. However, it's not. I hate not giving 5 stars, but when we walked in, there was a bunch of seating. We went up to the counter, and the young man behind it was super nice and professional. He asked if we're doing takeout or dining in. We chose dining in, we were on a date night. We had to take a menu from the counter, bring it back to the table we chose, then go back up to the counter to place an order. I had shrimp scampi and my husband had a burger. He said his burger was delicious. My scampi sauce was quite tasty. The noodles felt like they were boiled at opening and reheated at the time of order (I could be wrong). There was a hefty amount of shrimp, which I think was grilled and they were butterflied and not the best. The garlic bread was baked to perfection! I do want to try them again, I think they're known for the pizza. I think what threw me off was my shrimp scampi was served in a plastic takeout container with a black lunch tray lol and we had to use plastic ware that was sitting in a canister. They were very busy with phone orders/take out. I think this place is more take out than dine in. Maybe back in the day it was a sit down restaurant, there was even bar seating.

The staff is so friendly, family like. If you want gourmet chocolate chip cookies, this is definitely the place. Freshly homemade and happily honored my request to have at least my 6-8 cookies every few days. I absolutely love this place. Don’t waste your time at the grocery buying labeled gourmet cookies. Please, please try this place!!!! They put the G in gourmet. Enjoy!!

My take out order was later than expected, I had to wait nearly 20 minutes past when they said it would be ready. The appetizer I got was onion rings, wings, and jalapeño poppers and they all have frozen fried food vibes - likely not made in house. The pizza was disappointing, Dave Portnoy would likely rate it a 4. The portion size for the chicken parm was large however it was nothing special, not bad though. The vibe inside was a little strange, totally empty. I don’t recommend eating in for that reason.

Everyone has their own opinion and all I have to say is dont knock it until you try it! My experience was fulfilling. Absolutely delicious food and amazing staff!

Free pizza included with order. There was a mix up with delivery order on one salad item. Owner responded and had the correct item sent out. Pizza was really good. Fresh pita was good. Overall good food & service. Will def order again.

Today’s Father’s Day and I was in the mood for fried clams ordered them from here. My wife got baked shrimp and We ordered stake and cheese It was delicious . Every time we order from them the food‘s great.

Love this place but been disappointed with the lack of attention being put into delivery orders lately.. every time I get a wrap it's wrong... today my husband ordered a grilled chicken wrap with feta and I ordered a buff chicken wrap with crispy chicken and blue cheese on the side..... instead we got 2 wraps with grilled chicken buffalo sauce blue cheese and feta....werid and careless to be honest... I am thinking we will have to find some other local spot to order from now.

5 of us went in tonight on New Year's Eve a very busy night for take out. We asked if they were serving inside tonight they said yes. We were shocked because a lot of places were closing early for the holiday. They greeted us and told us to have a seat. The place was clean and the people were kind. But, the best part of all was the food. The food was so good we had burgers, fries, pizza, mozzarella sticks, a sub and shrimps scampi. We ordered a lot of food with hopes of leftovers. When they came over with the food they also gave us a free cheese pizza too! We walked out of there full with lots of leftovers. Great place and great people! Go you won't be disappointed!!

I haven't been here since the place opened 3 years ago- we live 5 minutes away, but our first two times were not good experiences (I always give a new place a second chance). Came back today for lunch as I've seen some positive feedback on facebook. I am glad we did. Fish and chips were fantastic. We both got fish and chips. It was really fresh fish- I asked and they said the seafood is all fresh and they get delivery 3 times a week. It's a order at the counter type of place- no wait staff. That's fine. There is a bar but doesn't appear to be open anymore. Food is really good. The next test will be the pizza... we will defiantly be back to try that so stay tuned....

Pizza was burnt just had a really bad experience never went back just went once was not happy with any of the food

We ordered take out from Tomato & Basil in East Taunton last night we both got the fish &chips and we were so happy with the food was excellent , delicious it was our first time back since it first opened years ago and we will definitely be going back . I just wish the Cole slaw was alittle bit bigger next size container

The food was not good. We got a variety of appetizers and pizzas and everything was just not tasty at all. The pizza was burnt and everything else tasted like it was bought from the frozen section of Walmart. Won't be returning.

I used to love the take--out food from here, but recently they can't understand that I don't like my calzones scorched! They've had very good food, but it isn't being prepared well any more. I don't know if it's a new owner or new cook. One thing I still enjoy is their Greek salad. The feta cheese they use is very good and creamy. I hope the owner(s) read this and improve their food. I miss getting take-out from here.

Recently open restaurant. Ordered a large cheese pizza and an order of fries. Fries were okay, Pizza dough was nice and fluffy with a little bit of crunch. Dining room lacks atmosphere and the business is without a liquor license at the moment. Girls waiting the tables did a nice job. Looked like there were plenty of people working and standing around in the kitchen, though no one made it out to say hello to The new patrons in the dining room .

So bummed to write this review as this was my first time here. Ordered take out chicken parm..i guess they forgot to actually cook the chicken. I hope i dont get sick. I had eaten some of the pasta the chicken was touching and a small bite of chicken as it was breaded didnt notice till i bit into it....not pleased no excuse for that. I Had high hopes ...now i am hoping i dont puke or ya know..thanks

Solid food. There appetizers are great. I really enjoy the mac and cheese bites and the jalapeño poppers. They handle orders fairly quick and their service is great.

Food is amazing and priced fairly, recommend the steak bomb! Very friendly as well.....

Went in at 8:00 and asked if we could sit. The young man at the counter said well we close at 9. I'm sure you could see the confused look on my face but anyway...Then he went on to say well if you think you will have enough time you can sit. I said well we will just get take out then. The young man left the counter as we stood there waiting for someone to take out order. After about 7 -8 min (mind you we were the only people there) and looks from all three people working we just walked out. We won't be back.

Went in to try for the first time and was very pleased with what I found! For starters had chicken tenders which were excellent and then some calamari which was very crisp and was a good portion. I got a Big Mac pizza which was very good and I could tell all the ingredients were very very fresh and seemed to have been sliced just then for the pizza! My friend got the fisherman's platter for 2 and it was huge and very fresh! I will be coming back to this place very soon and can't wait until they can serve some alcohol!

Just moved to the area and I'm thrilled I have this place near me. I've called ahead for pick up and we've ordered in and have eaten there. Service is friendly, and pleasant. So far I've had a few different pizza's and also had the steak tips. All the pizza's were great and so were the steak tips. Looking forward to trying more.

Our new local "go to" for pizza. Lite airy crust. Tried the Big Mac pizza for the first time and loved it. Great job!

Not sure what's going on with them. Their website is not working and they seem to be out of business. They have a voicemail right now that says "due to current circumstances" whatever that means "we are adjusting our hours". Voicemail is full. Seems like we must be out of business. Too bad because the food is decent and now that they finally discovered that they can't charge more for credit cards I'm not as upset with them.

Let's talk pizza. Toppings excellent but toppings are only part of the pie. The dough is the best. Home made and great flavor. You won't be disappointed.

Not bad... friendly staff, decent prices, but the pizza I got didn't have any taste it at all. I would try them again, but I think a basic cheese or something simple would be the best thing to get from here.

My family and I visited this restaurant as we knew it was new and had previously heard high praises for the food here, especially the pizza. While I can't speak for everyone at the table, I certainly wasn't disappointed. First off, the staff is incredible, a good mix between checking on you, refilling drinks, and attending to every need from more sauces to extra plates and napkins, without feeling like an annoying nat or car dealer. The cooks and various other staff greeted us throughout the lunch, and overall, it felt like we were important. The food was also pretty good. We had mozzarella sticks, wings, and mac n' cheese bites, which all came out fairly quick. All pretty average, nothing too crazy. I would have liked a bit more heat on the buffalo wings, but nonetheless, they were okay. Entrees took quite a bit longer to come out, about 15-20 minutes I would say, which isn't bad at all, but with only us in the restaurant, I would be worried about the turn around time with 10+ families inside. I definitely think this can be improved and is my only complaint, and why I'm apprehensive to give 5-stars. I will hopefully return again, and should I see the time improve, I will change review as such. Definitely a new favorite for a tasty, quiet, hole-in-the-wall lunch. Hopefully, the restaurant will grow!

I love there pizza!! The big mac pizza is one of my favs. There salads and salads dressing are really good too. I had there fish and chips and I wasn't really happy with it. I didnt get a very good fish. It was overcook and small.

My wife brought home a cheese pizza from tomato and basil and when we got home there was no sauce, basically a bread stick pizza not to mention my sub was soggy, I guess they don't wrap their subs they just put them in styrofoam container, causing condensation to sweat on the sub. Maybe they are a new pizza and sub shop working out the kinks. I'll give them another chance Covid is hurting businesses so maybe they had to hire new cook

Cute little hidden gem of a pizzeria in East Taunton. We ordered a large Mama Maria and it was simply delicious. Bonus: they had accidentally made a medium and made us an additional medium for free! My daughter had a Tomato and Basil white pizza and said it was awesome. Easily the best pizza we've had in years. Light, crispy and full of flavor. Reminds me of the Italian pizza I used to eat in Europe. Very friendly staff and nice atmosphere rounded out a great experience!

Absolutely horrible curbside pickup experience! Arrived at the time we were told, left sitting there another 20 minutes. Someone came out about halfway through asking what we'd ordered. Very obvious that they lost half the order. It happens but no apology or explanation and the food was inedible...and not even the courtesy of a response when I reached out (although I could see they read the message). Won't ever spend another cent there!

I had the sausage and meatball parm. It was good and met my expectations. Ordered as take out.

Pizza not very good. Had to wait quite a while. I ordered an Italian sub toasted and it came with just meat and cheese. No vegetables???

We went there on Saturday night aprox 8.30 there was maybe 4 people in there we ordered a pizza after waiting for an hour we said we can not wait any longer,the owner came over said they had no spinach had to send someone to store to get he was very rude as well as the nasty bartender will not recommend this place very poor business ethics

Bad pizza that was undercooked and very bland. I he delivery took 30 more minutes than expected. They ended up messing the order up, but they said it would take 30 minutes more. Didn't even offer a refund

We ordered pizzas on 2 other occasions and were very happy with the pizza both times. We've been looking around the area for a pizza that wasn't dripping with grease and decided to try this place when it opened. We were very happy with what we got both times. So, we decided to go and try an eat-in dinner there. We were not disappointed at all. I ordered Baked Haddock entree and it was cooked to perfection and was an impressive cut of fresh fish. I had sauteed veges with it that were delicious as well. My wife got the calamari basket because we got the calamari appetizer with one of our pizza orders and it was great. The basket came with mildly hot pepper rings, fries and marinara sauce. The calamari was in a light golden (clean oil) batter and was cooked perfectly. The staff was very friendly and one of the kitchen staff came out and spent time with us before we left. Oh yeah, and the price was very, very reasonable.
