"Tomatoes is a pretty strange place. It serves mostly American food, but also has sushi, and while it looks like a nicer restaurant, it turns into a rowdy bar once the dinner crowd leaves at 10pm. Despite its inability to decide what it wants to be, Tomatoes has always been a staple down the Shore. Most of the food is great - even the sushi - and it can work for pretty much any occasion, whether it’s a first date with someone you met playing flip cup at Maynard’s the night before or a family dinner with some insanely picky 10-year-olds." - Sydney McElwee

Tried a new place at the shore. Tomatoes. Looked pretty encouraging on Resy. Overall it was good, maybe very good?! Service was excellent. Our waitress Chris was top notch. Ambiance was not great for us. We didn't realize this was more bar than restaurant (with live music, a huge bar, and very kid friendly). For us this ended up being a loud environment where we had to yell over the out of control kids that were moved next to us. The food was pretty good, maybe slightly unrefined but tasty. My grilled octopus was mostly very good with just one piece being a little "mushy". My baked duckling came with excellent grilled asparagus and garlic mashed potatoes. The duckling itself was more like roasted chicken to me than true duck breast but I still ate all of it. The blueberry pie was very good (not Steve & Cookies great though 168). Generally the food portions were too big (I know, complaining about too much food!). I am not sure we would rush back since they have fine dining prices in a local bar setting, but we were glad we tried them!

Google
A Margate fixture, Tomatoes ha served consistently delicious dishes for a demanding clientele over several decades. The waitstaff is professional and attentive. The sushi is fresh and well portioned. Entrees of note include crispy duck, sea bass, and pork chops. The assorted appetizers are fantastic. Recommend the short rib and octopus offerings.

The food was not to my liking . The shrimp cocktail was like rubber you can tell it was frozen and not fresh. My steak I ordered it medium rare and it came back well done then had to ask for it to be cooked again but they got it right the second time but for 55$ it should have been cooked correctly the first time . The wedge salad was okay but the bacon was not crumbled and was extremely salty they just gave you big pieces which I have never experienced . I say go to Ruth Chris or STK or even McCormicks in Harrahs any one of those would be better than this . The price point and the food don’t match . For the price point everything should be fresh and without issue . The drinks were good and the bartenders are very friendly the hostess was very sweet my issue was with the chef and the quality of the food that didn’t meet the mark .Other than that I give this place a 5 out of 10 but that is just my opinion try it and formulate your own .

I had an absolutely delightful experience at Tomatoes restaurant in Margate City, New Jersey. From the moment I walked in, the ambiance was warm and inviting. The highlight of my visit was undoubtedly the exceptional service provided by our waitress, Ashley. She went above and beyond to ensure our dining experience was nothing short of perfect. Her attentiveness, knowledge of the menu, and friendly demeanor truly elevated our evening. The culinary creations were equally outstanding – each dish bursting with flavor and expertly prepared. Whether you're a local or just passing through, Tomatoes is a must-visit destination for a memorable dining experience. Five stars all the way!

Google
Nice place, pretty pricy for what you get but they had Chilean sea bass so that’s what we went for. It was Valentine’s Day so they gave us chocolates which was a nice gesture. The waitress was nice but I’m sure had a long day so we didn’t interact too much. No wait on Valentine’s Day and we were able to make reservations

Loved EVERYTHING about this place! Service excellent. Drinks were yummy. The food was fabulous!! First time eating a Poke Bowl, and it was so good. I will definitely come back.

Google
Tomatoes in Margate is one of my favorite spots. I have been coming for years. The sushi is absolutely top-notch, fresh, and bursting with flavor. And don’t even get me started on the Key Lime pie; it’s the perfect balance of tart and sweet, a must-try dessert! Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a memorable dining experience.

Google
Went here for an anniversary dinner and loved the vibes. Upscale restaurant but still welcoming. Loved their flatbread of the day. Sushi was fresh and my carrot hummus salad was a huge portion of delicious Nj vegetables.

Yelp
Went to The LOT last evening! What a great time food was so Delicious and fresh Drinks were delicious. The Service was happy friendly all around great evening. Thank you Lisa

Yelp
I had a reservation for dinner last night. My friend and I arrived at the reservation time. The hostess acknowledge my reservation and. Said she would 'let me know when the table was ready'. While Tomatoes was busy, there was no effort to honor our reservation. At least eight other parties, including several who appeared to just have arrived, were seated without delay. When I inquired I was told that my name was 'on the list' and they were 'doing their best'. At this point, we were about 20 minute past our reservation time. A hostess seating people told me that the wait was likely between 45 minutes to an hour. At this point, I left as clearly Tomatoes did not care to honor my reservation. I will not go back. This service is unacceptable. If you don't plan on honoring reservation, don't take reservation!

Yelp
Let me preface this review by saying I have had about 5 great meals here in the past (all a year or more ago). This was a really bad experience and meal. Maybe an aberration but figured I'd just tell it like it is. When we went to park in the valet lot at about 5:55 on a Wednesday evening, there were a couple cones. I've always parked there before and figured the cones were there to keep out non-restaurant traffic. I asked the valet if they were full or something, and he rudely said "yeah what do you think the cones mean?!" Bad start... Got to our table and we were seated at a very small 2-top wedged so tightly between two other tables that I could barely get in and the waiter etc never came near the side of our table, rather he screamed the specials from behind my wife's seat... The place is so loud I literally couldn't hear almost anything my wife was saying - and I don't have hearing issues. The food: my lettuce wedge was not crunchy but rather had wilted iceberg lettuce that was drenched in a soup of blue cheese dressing and featured pancetta that was literally the saltiest food I've ever placed in my mouth. Not at all like any cured meat I've ever tasted before. My wife's Caesar salad was underdressed and had very little flavor. My chilled seafood entree (market price $62) featured 3 shrimp cocktail which were a nice size and very crunchy and tasty! The lump crabmeat was also nice other than many shells (which happens sometimes). The lobster tail - man I wanted to love it but it was literally without ANY taste. Like water...not even a hint of seafood flavor or sweetness or anything. My wife loves lobster and totally agreed and we left it on our plate not even wanting to bring it home for leftovers. It MUST have been frozen or something. It was just indescribable and like no other lobster tail I've experienced in my 50 years of life. My wife got the seared tuna. The vegetable were delicious but the tuna was without any sauce and so peppery/spicy she could not enjoy it. She left most of it. We also ordered 2 sides. Coconut rice had no flavor and tasted like starchy water and somehow was greasy but had no flavor or salt. The truffle Mac and cheese seemed ok if it had any salt - but it didn't and there were no salt and pepper shakers on the table. We left most of our meal and opted to not bring anything home. Honestly it was a really disappointing meal and I don't know what to make of it. We were really looking forward to a great meal but that wasn't in the cards tonight. We left really disappointed to say the least...seems quality is way down.

Yelp
This place is still, "Meh." Good enough, 3 stars. After 9 pm they crank up the bad DJ Music which makes conversing with your dining partners impossible. Turned us off. Service was good, but we couldn't hear the server tell us about the specials. There was too much nodding at the table because the music was so obnoxiously loud. The Octopus was excellent as an appetizer. The chopped salad was also very good. The Filet Mignon was pretty good, ordered it Medium Rare, came out a bit over which changed the texture of the Filet to the dry side. Crab Cakes were small and overcooked and dried out and would not order this again. The sushi was pretty good. The cocktails were pretty good. All in all a very Meh experience.

Yelp
Tomatoes is an awesome restaurant located bay front in Margate City, NJ. They have a parking lot behind the restaurant & it was easy to find a spot during the holidays, but this place gets super busy in the summer. Their menu is very eclectic with options ranging from American classics to healthy salads & a full sushi menu as well! Ambiance is fun & energetic with live music & a great bar area that's separate from the main dining room. I had the Ginger Cosmo & the Lycheetini to start off the evening. Both were fabulous, but the Lycheetini is on the sweeter side. The Alex roll was very fresh and flavorful. The Chop Chop was one of my favorite salads recently because their Russian dressing is made in house and super tasty. The star of the evening was the Euro Chicken. The skin was perfectly crispy & the meat was oh so tender. They use Mary's Organic chicken which is another plus & it paired so wonderfully with the truffle mac n cheese & broccolini. I can't wait to go back! Service was stellar too!

Yelp
We love coming to tomato's for the great food and vibes. They have an extensive martini menu and a big bar in the center of the restaurant to enjoy it at. The sushi is fresh and the Kani salad is the best I've ever had with lump crab meat and shaved cucumber. Also, don't skip the ahi tuna on crispy rice appetizer.

Elaine G.

Yelp
Fun place, great drinks, good for bar food and atmosphere but main dishes are mediocre. Everything was "fine", but should be at a higher level for the price.

Jessica W.

Yelp
We love coming to Tomatoes! Whenever my mom is in town, this is where the wants to eat. The food is always delicious and fresh. We live the wine and martini selections. The service is always in point. And it's always so much fun! Their key lime pie is my favorite of all time! We order it every single time!

Yelp
This restaurant is our go-to in the area. Nothing too fancy that makes it a "special" event type of place, but one you can go to for a casual lunch, or a really nice dinner. We went back for NYE this year and wife got a delicious steak with a brown sauce and mushrooms, cooked perfectly medium. I had a couple special sushi rolls and the lobster bisque. Everything was delightful, and the place was decorated very tastefully for NYE. This is why it's been our go-to. The drinks we had were excellent as well. Both at the table and at the bar.

Susanne G.

Yelp
Love this restaurant. Sushi is delicious. The staff is very nice. Drinks are made perfect ever time.

Yelp
This was my first time hearing of Tomatoes. We went on a Saturday night with my girlfriend's family. Our reservations were at 7:00 and we arrived a little early to have a drink at the bar. It was busy (which to me is a good sign) so I'd definitely recommend reservations. It was also a classier restaurant so I would also recommend to dress on the nicer side. I started with a gin dirty martini and she had an espresso martini. The dirty was very good. The espresso was above average, but we've had better and worse. I wasn't really a fan of the martini glasses, but that's nothing to be dissatisfied over. We were seated at a large round table in the middle of the dining floor. There were 7 of us and the seats were spaced out pretty far so we had lots of room at the table. Brittany, our server, was outstanding. She was attentive, friendly, made great suggestions, knowledgeable, and checked in frequently but was not overbearing. The bread was served with whole cloves of roasted garlic in oil! Garlic is my favorite so this made me very happy. We split some appetizers to start - Grilled Baby Spanish Octopus, Ceviche, Burrata. I think the Octopus was phenomenal and the star of the entire meal. Was perfectly grilled, crispy, tender, and the texture was great. The ceviche was fresh and citrusy. I didn't have any of the burrata but all of the food went and everyone had positive things to say about each dish. For dinner we decided to pick a bunch of specialty rolls of sushi to split between everyone. My girlfriend's mom got the flounder special they had that night and loved it. The sushi was all fresh and the presentation looked great. I wasn't able to get a picture before it was picked through. I also had a Pomegranate martini. I enjoyed it and would recommend it if you like sweeter drinks. If not, I would pick something else. My girlfriend had an Aperol Spritz and really liked it. We finished up with some coffee and desserts. Each of the couples split a dessert. My girlfriend's cousin and her fiancé along with me and my girlfriend each split chocolate chip cookies and vanilla ice cream. The cookies were warm and soft, and the ice cream was served in a cookie bowl. My girlfriend's parents split carrot cake. The slice was large and the cake looked delicious. Very enjoyable experience to say the least. Service was great. Sushi was very good as was all of the food. If I do visit again (which is only an IF because I live an hour away - not because I didn't approve) I would definitely order the octopus again. I would order a dinner instead of sushi just to try something else on the menu. Something I was not expecting: as it got later it went from a classy dinner restaurant to almost like a nightclub with a DJ that drew a younger crowd and dancing. We were finishing up with dessert at this time so it didn't bother me but I wouldn't have felt the same if I was still eating dinner.

Yelp
Foods always top notch and inventive. Sat outside, great vibe, cocktails are delish. Love the food trucks for a casual fun experience

Christina P.

Yelp
Absolutely love their outdoor space called "The Lot". Always has delicious food truck and bar truck options! And sometimes even has live music and local events!

Madeline C.

Yelp
So! I really had a great experience. I haven't been in 10 years or so, was excited to return (and was my birthday dinner!) The food is spectacular! The service is phenomenal. Really white table cloth type good. I had the cod special, it was phenomenal. So good I couldn't get a picture before I ate it. We also started with the grilled octopus and a rainbow roll..,, both melt in your mouth. Heidi Is a fantastic server. It's super busy and sometimes kids so you need to factor that in but nothing we can do about that. Go to tomatoes!

Steven C.

Yelp
The entire menu is great, however if you want something amazing the Thai curry creme mussels are amazing !!!! The ambiance is trendy however it can get pretty busy the later you go especially in the peak summer season but overall it's a solid restaurant choice.

Shayna L.

Yelp
We dined at Tomatoes and the food was good, but not great and not worth the cost. When we got there they sat us at a table that was extremely wobbly. We requested to be moved to a different table and the hostesses were very quick to make sure we were somewhere more comfortable. For apps we had the salt and pepper calamari, seafood chowder, and a specialty sushi roll. The chowder was advertised to have crab and shrimp, but there was not a single piece of shrimp in the helping we were served. There were a few shreds of crabmeat, but not enough to advertise it as a seafood chowder. The calamari was delicious as well as the sushi roll - I would recommend both. For entrees we ordered the flat iron steak and the Tuna. Both were delicious, but I wouldn't say they were worth the price tag they were given. Overall, I would personally say it wasn't worth the price. The food was good, but not superb and most likely won't be back. Just as an additional note, when making the reservation on resy they had asked if there was a special occasion. We had marked down birthday and they didn't do anything, even wishing a happy birthday. I'm not sure what the point of asking was.

Sof V.

Yelp
At tomato's the food is very delicious and scrumptious. We were seated immediately. Everything came out fast. Food was very good. Except I ordered the Burata and it came with cantaloupe. Cantaloupe and balsamic vinegar don't mix well. Not my favorite. Service is awesome and quick. Bathrooms are pristine. Overall great restaurant and we will be coming back.

Sam W.

Yelp
DO NOT GO TO THE LOT! My experience at The Lot was incredibly disappointing. Upon entering the establishment, we were met with a rude bartender who immediately accused us of having fake IDs simply because we hailed from different states. Despite proving the authenticity of my identification, I was denied service, and it is hard to shake off the feeling that this discrimination may have stemmed from wearing a Jewish star. The interaction with the bartender left me feeling uncomfortable and unwelcome, only escalating when I requested assistance from the manager. Unfortunately, even the manager's intervention fell short of being helpful, leaving a bitter taste in my mouth about the lack of professionalism and inclusivity at The Lot. It is disheartening to encounter such inappropriate and rude behavior in a public setting, and I would caution others considering a visit to the Lot. P.S. The bartender was a young man with light hair wearing a hat.

Mit G.

Yelp
This place was very disappointing. We visited on September 4th. As someone else noted in their review, we walked in and we're not greeted, no hostess stand, no employee with a tablet.... nothing. We were left to stand there, waiting, hoping someone would acknowledge us and seat us for our 7:30pm reservation. After 5 minutes I went and wandered the floor looking for an employee. Once seated, drink orders were taken by our server. Mine never arrived, I drank the water that was on the table when we arrived. As far as food, we had the Salt and Pepper Calamari, which was delicious. Done to perfection. Wife had the Crab Pasta (white) which was also very good. I had the Butcher's Burger which was just fair. It was delivered medium rare as ordered, but was still very dry and not much flavor. Server never came back to see if everything was ok or if we needed refill on drinks. I wanted ketchup for my fries. No one to ask. Still never got my original drink as runners brought out are food. We saw the server twice. Once to take our orders and lastly to drop off the check. No offer of coffee, dessert.... zippo. Do they have coffee and dessert, we'll never know. I'm in my early 60's and dine out often and this was one of the worst service experiences I've ever had. I can now see why we got a reservation and the competition down the street (S&C) was booked solid. Don't waste your time or money here, it's a tourist trap.

Vincent G.

Yelp
This place is clearly a popular spot down the shore...as you approach the front entrance, you can hear the excitement pouring out from inside. Your first impression of the restaurant is their beautiful bar. Massive wrap around set up, with a solid bar selection & plenty of seating. When we were there, they also had a DJ playing music. If I wanted to go somewhere for drinks and apps, this would definitely be a favorite, but we went for dinner - hence the 3 star review. For as busy as they were, I thought the customer service was great. We made a reservation and were able to sit down right on time (party of 8 mind you). Hostess and waitress were great all throughout. The food certainly met expectations, but it wasn't anything over the top or outstanding. The menu is a little confusing and tough to navigate if you don't look ahead of time. Unique - you can get dishes from Italian cuisine (chicken parm) to creative spins on seafood to sushi and asian flare. I love all of them, so I struggled with a landing spot honestly, but chose the asian flare route with some sushi as an appetizer. Again food was all good, which is impressive given the range of the menu - would get it again. The downside to the whole experience was the noise level here. Granted we were with a big party, so we were spread out at a larger table, but I literally felt like I was only able to conversate with the person to my left and my right, and that was even a challenge. So just have that in mind - if you are going for dinner, especially on a weekend night, expect it to be crowded and loud. If you wanted to go for that scene, music, dancing, drinks, etc. - definitely would recommend.

Marissa S.

Yelp
When dining at Tomatoes we always opt for seats at the bar, where our favorite bartender, Stephanie, shakes up cocktails and provides amazing service. The chefs at Tomatoes serve up some of the best sushi in South Jersey. Each roll is a delicious work of art and made with the freshest ingredients. From classic favorites like a Rainbow or Spicy Tuna Roll to inventive creations and custom rolls named after the owner's family members, there's something to delight every palate (&we've tried nearly every roll and have yet to be disappointed). Lastly, if you have a sweet tooth like we do, you absolutely cannot miss out on the homemade desserts. Trust me when I say they're worth saving room for

Jason H.

Yelp
The food was great! I had the S&P Calamari and the roasted duck. Both were cooked perfectly. Very busy spot. We will be back next time!

Lynn M.

Yelp
Excellent all around, food, service & atmosphere. Not too loud despite a full room. Round tables perfect for a party of six. Creative menu with options for everyone including sushi and pizza as well as full on entrees. The bar area for a couple just looking to share a meal is an active and happening spot too. It's a tried and true treasure.

Laura S.

Yelp
I have the misfortune of having a close friend who loves this place so am forced to eat here more than I would like. It can summarized in one sentence. Decent food but terrible service and not worth the very high prices. On a recent evening dining in, we had to wait forever for a waitress, the drink we ordered and something to be done about the wobbly table, which was never addressed for the duration of the meal. For takeout, I did not leave a tip when placing an online order, but was pressured to do so when I picked it up. It left a bad taste in my mouth. As noted by other reviewers, the sushi is quite good but incredibly pricey. The specialty rolls are all ~$20 for 8 small pieces, which is higher than the best sushi places in Philadelphia. With any luck, I won't have to come back anytime soon.

Alex T.

Yelp
Lot of energy in this place and a very large dining area. Entrees were the special mahi mahi fish, veal parmesan, salmon and a burger. All were rated very good. Also got a bowl of shrimp fried rice as an appetizer to share that everyone enjoyed very much. Desserts were coconut cream pie and coconut cake both very good. Service was friendly and not rushed. It's on the pricier side and the drinks were expensive so when I compare it to Steve and Cookies down the street it falls a little short, but i would go back

angela g.

Yelp
Tomatoes is a local favorite in south jersey. Aside from their amazing espresso martinis, their octopus tacos are . I love these tacos because they're unique. The jicama taco shell offers a slight crunch but differs in taste and texture from a traditional taco shell. The cilantro adds a fresh flavor and pairs perfectly with the spicy mayo. Well seasoned/cooked octopus can be hard to find. Tomatoes does it effortlessly. Definitely recommend.

David L.

Yelp
Don't get me wrong, the food at this place is really good. They have a huge menu and seem able to pull off sushi and traditional coastal cuisine really well. My problem is, this place seems to be overhyped. It is virtually impossible to get a reservation here (we ate at 8PM on a Sunday). It just doesn't seem to be worth the effort. There could definitely be more upscale places to eat in this part of the Shore but I will not go out of my way to grab a reservation here again. With that said, we did have a good meal. The menu is so diverse that it was a struggle to try everything that we wanted and we probably over-ordered. We started with the Parmesan Crusted Asparagus, which was probably my favorite thing we tried. It was kind of a unique spin on a staple and very tasty. It came with a great pesto aioli. We also got the Mozzarella en Croute, which was nothing special, but tasted good on some table bread. Our second course was sushi. We got a Philadelphia roll and a "Karen" roll. Both were prepared at the sushi counter and really good. It was cool to have such good sushi at the Shore. For the main course, we split the Cuban Pork Chop with a side of Truffle Mac n' Cheese. Both were also really good. The pork chop was seasoned really well and was bone-in. The Truffle Mac n Cheese was good but a whopping $11.50 for a small side portion. All-in-all, this place has some good food and enough options that everyone will be happy. However, the high prices and insane difficulty I had getting a reservation means I will probably pass in the future. If you can grab a spot, it's probably worth a visit. PRO TIP: There is a cool little seating area outside that has food trucks. I couldn't tell whether this was associated with the restaurant or not but it is definitely something to check out!

Yelp
Tomatoes Margate continues to excellent diverse culinary offerings! They have excellent sushi combinations, always freshly prepared and creative combinations. Their seafood menu features Huli Huli salmon served over coconut rice and edamame ( my personal favorite!). Their halibut specials and Chilean sea bass are usually my other family members' faves!! I'm a huge fan of their Burrata & Tomato salad, too delicious to describe... and beet and goat cheese salad w/ walnuts is awesome! Then, you must leave plenty of room for desserts ( we like to share several of our favorites). Chocolate chip cookie with ice cream , key lime pie, cremé brûlée ( to name a few)... Be sure to make a reservation on most seasonal weekends!

Jeff S.

Yelp
I had an absolutely phenomenal meal . One of the daily specials which had huge shrimp, polenta and fresh spinach, it was really terrific. My server Carl was smart , fun and very knowledgeable.

Lor W.

Yelp
I've only been to Tomatoes at night and via Uber, so I had no idea this place is practically on the water. Literally, the Intercoastal is right across the street. I'd love to see the daytime view someday! Their cocktail menu is pretty extensive, and their food menu is quite eclectic. You can order anything from pasta to sushi to burgers to steaks. This is ideal when dining with others who are all over the place with their cravings. This last visit, we ordered up a slew of sushi rolls for the table. Presentation was pleasing, and our server was on top of it. We had her hopping with drink orders (and reorders) and she didn't skip a beat. No sitting by the bar (thanks COVID, love ya!) but we had a nice high table in the vicinity. It made us feel as though we were experiencing a bar-like setting. Reservations are highly encouraged during the pandemic. Social distancing was on point, and everyone was mask-compliant (over the nose). Tomato it up!

Julieanne A.

Yelp
This place is good, but way overpriced for what you get. My boyfriend and I never had their sushi before, but decided to try it and ended up getting the sushi platter where you pick three different ones for a cheaper price (which is still.... overpriced). Honestly, it was AMAZING sushi, but my issue was the service. Obviously, this place is in Margate... so there's more of a certain crowd there, but we felt like it was low key racist (I'm Filipino and my boyfriend is Dominican). Everyone (from staff to guests) was straight up staring at us and they sat us... all the way in the back, back, back of the restaurant. Waitress checked on us once but really catered to this loud, obnoxious group of 6+ people sitting a little ways away from us. Didn't finish the drink and she never asked us about our food. Not cool. You think that during 2021 things would get better, but I guess not.

Steve K.

Yelp
It's been 5 years since we dined here last, and hate to say I was somewhat disappointed. The highlights of the meal unfortunately was the appetizer, and desert. The burrata salad was delicious as was the key lime pie, but one of the specials that two of our four diners ordered, the flounder breaded in panko was not seasoned at all. The place is pricey, and I hate when you are told what the specials are that you have to ask the price... The server was very personable, but not much attention was given to our table.

Sofia R.

Yelp
Had the most wonderful waiter ever! so professional. I came @9:55pm and still got a table imminently, ate, and left within 40 minutes. There is NO other place you can eat 5 star sushi for an appetizer followed up by 5 star chicken parm. best of both worlds and i will definitely be back again and again!!

Cassandra S.

Yelp
I came on the weekend with reservations and the place was busy! The interior is quite dark but the energy is lively. I had a lychee martini and my partner and I split the Sarah Jane roll to start, both of which were good but nothing too exciting. It took a long time for the food to come out, and we were understanding given how busy it was, but it had us wondering if it was always this way. My partner ordered the sashimi platter which was as expected, but the side of "sticky rice" as it was called on the menu ended up being a small bowl of sushi rice--absolutely overpriced at $6. I ordered the crispy duck which was quite delicious and generously portioned. The duck came with mashed potatoes and asparagus. When it came time leave, someone who wasn't our waitress took the remainder of my dish to box up to go and I was so disappointed when I got home to see that they hadn't boxed up any of my sides, which I had purposefully set aside for later. Our waitress was kind and attentive, but overall, the dining experience was quite average.

Denisr E.

Yelp
First time I've been disappointed at this restaurant. Don't order Chilean see bass. Served in a very sweet broth with maybe 6 green beans and a couple sliced carrots. See bass not even more than an inch and 1/2 around and mushy. Would never order that again. The price was ridiculous for the amount of fish.

Kristi P.

Yelp
I have been going to Tomatoes since it opened. I lived in New Jersey full time but moved to Florida and return for 4 months in the summer every year for years. I went last night with a girlfriend and two teenagers specifically for sushi. It was very disappointing. Quality has gone way down. Looks like they are not using quality ingredients and trying to make the biggest profit by skimping. The speciality rolls in any restaurant are always huge. We ordered the Karen and the Atlantic City rolls, then a bunch of sashimi and none specialty roll. The speciality rolls were as small as a spicy tuna roll with the shrimp sliced so thin on the top. Half the size it normally is there or anywhere. I thought it was a joke at almost $20.00 per roll. I have ordered both many many times and it's never looked like that. The burrata was served with tomatoes that tasted like they came from a can. They poured crappy tomato sauce over the top of canned tomatoes and topped with basil. Gross. Asked for salt 4 times as none were on any tables. I was told the ownership changed to his son. I'm beyond disappointed. Maybe the new owners should know the old saying "liquor makes money and good food makes friend". You lost several friends last night.

Yelp
Absolutely fresh 5 star sushi excellent service never disappointed the salt and pepper calamari is delicious. We can't express enough how amazing this meal was

Yelp
The negative about this restaurant was that appetizer ordered from the sushi bar took almost 2 hours to be brought to the table. This caused all of our dinners to be held by the restaurant for 2 hours! When we asked to see the manager, she had Alex come out. Alex stated that she was "technically" the owner, not the manager! Seems better right? Wrong! The only thing she said was "I'm sorry." She offered to do nothing at all. She just stood there and repeated - I'm sorry! Didn't suggest anything to make things right! We even mentioned that it was our first time all the restaurant and still she couldn't figure out what to do! Amazingly disappointing! Suggest you think twice about going to this restaurant, because despite the excellent food, a manager/owner that doesn't know how to get out of a paper bag, ruins the entire experience. Also, if you have any issue whatsoever - don't count on anything other than an "I'm sorry!" We won't be returning, nor recommending this restaurant to friends/family.

Yelp
We have been patrons to the establishment since it opened its doors to public few decades ago. Appreciate the ownership for its ability to evolve in todays world! Great service, outstanding menu and great vibe. We will be back again soon ***must have *** asparagus parmigiana appetizer and Calvin roll

Yelp
U know - I like this place but go across the street if you are looking for fine fine dining. The Pros: 1) lots of indoor dining room and bar space 2) there is actually decent sushi for a Californian/Italian place (not exactly Californian as a former Bay Area person), which is weird but ok if u here with a large family with different appetites 3) I enjoyed my crab cakes, duck, and sea bass. 4) meh in the desserts but large enough to share. Honestly - all the food was pretty good, nothing to rave about but good. So why the 3 stars, the service is mediocre at the best from either being too slow, to too inexperience with a lot of hired summer help where this is clearly their first job with no training to lack of consistent service if you are not a regular or at the bar. So if u are looking for good for AND amazing service or at least decent - unfor this is not the place. I have to go to Steve and Cookies.. plus Who who's like Michael B Jordan this weekend are more likely to park their boat/shore it up for dinner at S&C, if u really care.

Yelp
This is one of my families favorite summertime spots. He's been going here for the past 10 years and are obsessed. The octopus appetizer and duck are two of my personal favorites and the Karen roll is also phenomenal. I personally would recommend getting any of the sushi but not all entrées are created equal imo so find your favorite and stick to it lol. Also a little bit pricey but I think the quality almost matches up. If you like espresso martinis these are the best I've ever had!

Yelp
Bad service at the bar. Took 15 minutes in between drinks. Empty glasses all night. Had an important client so took him here. Probably lost the business because this place was terrible. I called a day later to speak to Manager. They never even called me back. Overpriced. Underdelivered. Skip this place. Terrible bar

Yelp
What a outstanding restaurant, great service, amazing seafood and sushi, and very nice atmosphere. Tons of places to sit, I came here with my family and we loved it! I have 3 kids and they had a good and full children's menu, we got a plate of sushi for them to share and we got great seafood appetizers. It's in a area right near the ocean which is always great! I 100% recommend this gem!

Yelp
This was my first time ever going to Tomatoes. My party made a reservation online so we were sat right away. The restaurant had a great atmosphere and had a lot of seating. Service was great- everyone was super friendly. Everyone at my table ordered drinks, and we all loved them. We had the calamari, which was okay. I ordered two sushi rolls. They were decent, but their prices are a little higher than expected. The roll on the right was $20 alone. They do have a lot out back for outdoor drinks/appetizers it looks like, which I would definitely do next time.

Yelp
1st off- Had the best waitress EVER, Malia! 2nd- the food, menu, atmosphere, drinks, etc etc.. were delicious!!! The perfect place to go to after a long day at the beach or to enjoy a celebration like we did. We have been meaning to try out this place for a while and are now kicking ourselves wishing we had tried it sooner. Will absolutely be heading back this summer to try out their sushi! :)

Yelp
Tomatoes is always the place to be. Where else can you get amazingly fresh sushi, a Cobb salad and steak dinner? No where. Their salads are huge & definitely more of an entree style salad. The cocktails are amazing too. You can't go wrong with any of their specialty martinis.

Yelp
A little pricey but reliably good with an eclectic menu. Feels a little more high end than other restaurants in the area which is nice. Service is great, too.

Yelp
1 year anniversary since I got this skimpy portion. Would be nice if they responded, I guess they're too busy ripping other patrons off. Don't come here hungry
