Omg the best chili tasted ever I ordered chili dog with chili cheese fries combo for 15$. This is amazing very delicious. Making this place my favorite chili spot.

So after reading the reviews about their pastrami sandwich on how much they stack it with fresh delicious pastrami, unfortunately it was not true...the pastrami tasted salty, meat was slightly discolored, and just tasted like it was old and not fresh. I was extremely disappointed and will not be patronizing this location. So the icing on the cake was when my wife ate the other half of my sandwich without me saying anything about it then I hear " I don't like it!"

One of our favorites whenever we are in town! I know they have multiple locations, however we are loyal and prefer this location because the quality is consistent as is the accuracy of our customize order and the generous portions with quantity of ingredients. Full of flavor, constantly craving many items on their menu deliciousness, variety, inexpensive! This business is open late, convenient, clean and customer service has always been awesome! There's sometimes a bit of a wait however understandable and well worth it! Had the chili burger with all the fixings . The mustard with raw onions always seals the deal for me. Also try thier onions rings and ask for dipping in BBQ sauce. Wow that was good!!

I found hair wrapped in my club wrap today while I was in the process of eating it. I wouldn’t normally review this except it was literally in my mouth as I bit into my wrap and it threaded out still intact to the contents of the sandwich as i went to investigate. Utterly grossed out to say the least. Ruined my appetite. I need the prep and kitchen staff to do better with protecting the food please.

Stopped by because I was hunger. What a mistake. Place was clean, but old. Unfriendly employee's busy talking to each other. I had the pastrami sandwich and fries. Shoe String fries were old and cold. Way way way too much pastrami on the bread. Wasted meat. Will not be going back. Do not waste your time and money here.

We have driven by this Tomboy's so many times and we had already eaten or it was late and closed. We finally decided to make the trip to Manhattan Beach just to go. My grandson was so excited. He loves Chili Burgers. We made the right decision. It was great. All of it. The place outside is cute, not very big and you may miss it so be on the lookout. There is comfortable seating indoors and out. The interior is just spotless. While we were there we saw staff cleaning all the tables after a customer left. The floors were spotless. Inside is super cute. It has a large menu on the wall and a good selection. They have some things I have never tried before like pastrami quesadilla. I will be trying that on our next visit. They also have breakfast items. They have shacks and all sorts of sodas. We ordered what we came for, chili burgers and chili fries along with an Oreo cookie shack and a soda. We were in heaven. We sat down and they give you a number. When they call you just walk up and it is waiting on a tray. The chili is so very good and the burger and bum perfection. They give you a lot of chili and their regular order of fries is huge just covered in chili. It is not too hot, not too greasy and not too mild. It is perfect. We loved every bite and wished we had remembered to order a chili dog to share, but too late, we were stuffed. The prices are reasonable. You can get it to go if you want. I don't know if they deliver. The service here was so great. There were two young men behind the counter and they listened carefully as my grandson who has speech issues told him what he wanted. They offered him choices and spoke to him like he was in charge of his order, and he is. They made sure our order was right. When one of the employees was cleaning tables he asked on us. When we left we were thanked. I love these guys. They open early at 7 am so you can have a full breakfast there if you want. Everything is made to order. This place is just great so go there and have fun. If you are on a diet, this is not the place for you. Indulge your love of chili burgers.

I recently drove all the way to Malibu for a reputed, "best in town" breakfast burrito. Pretty much a waste of time because just down the street, at Tomboy's, they already had a great burrito! I got the fiesta breakfast burrito with chorizo. I can't see how a breakfast burrito could get any better.

Tomboy's has two locations of which I am aware. We like this one the best. Parking is free and easy. You can eat there, have take away, use third party delivery or just go through their drive thru. It does not matter. The food is great and you will be happy. They have breakfast every day and it is so fairly priced and all of it is good. We like the breakfast burrito. Their chili burgers and fries are the best. They actually have cheddar cheese for their chili fries and not awful American. The chili is great and burgers are just wonderful. They also have hot dogs and sandwiches. Whatever you order, you will like. Now, this place is not fancy. It is just super clean and it it cute. You will like eating there. The service is great. They are fast and they never mess up my order. They are very nice. You will love Tomboy's.

I like how this place is drive through only. Very convenient. The prices are so reasonable, especially considering the city it's in. Got the turkey melt and it was great. Very warm and tasty. They really give you a lot of turkey, way more than a lot of other places. Will return if in the area again.

I am a chili cheese fries enthusiast. I have to try it from any place I've never been to. This was one of those times. The price is good paying a little under nine dollars for a decent size portion is worth it. When it comes to the actual texture and flavor, the fries, feel like they been sitting out too long and the chili and cheese was OK. I'm glad I came to try it but wouldn't go out of my way to come back. The people are nice and friendly no issues with that. I only came strictly for the chili cheese fries, which again would be a pass in the future.

The breakfast is so good! Burritos are always our go-to and theirs is really good. I called it in for pick up and when I got there, they waited to put the yummy fresh salsa (green and red) in the bag for maximum freshness.

If you're looking for a good value for chili cheese fries, I'd say this is your spot. It's a huge portion at a decent price compared to most places. But I'd say the actual chili was very underwhelming. For a place that's supposedly known for chili, it was way too dry and pasty. The fries itself was good and cheese was ok. I actually had to go back and tell them to melt the cheese more. The. First pic is when they gave it to me and it was barely melted, the second is when I got it back when they cooked it more.

Sept 10 at 5:30PM I found one tiny aphid in the lettuce of the cheeseburger I bought for my nephew. Please make sure to always was your lettuce with water.

This place is great! I know some reviewers have dropped at a star or two because the chili isn't perfect or it doesn't have an ocean view... But what are they expecting a Michelin star??? The chili cheeseburger had just the right amount of chili, the fries were crisp, the Coke was cold and the price was reasonable. What more could you ask for? This is a small family owned restaurant that amazingly is still in business given California's anti-business climate. The food is good and I'll look forward to coming back again soon.

We always stop at Tomboy's on the way to see a local play at the play house down the street from there. Tomboy's has some of the best chiliburgers you will find and places even with Tommy's. They also have the option of cheddar cheese which places them above Tommy's who only has American. It is a small place and there may be a few of them, we go to this one. The service is just so great. The guys that work there know us by now and they are just so nice and patient. They make the food right all of the time, nothing ever has to go back and we love to eat there, although you can use the drive thru, take away or have it delivered. My grandson is always with me and they are so kind to him. He has Autism and his speech is affected by this. They were patient with him years ago when he could barely speak and often pointed and now when he does speak much better but is not understood if you don't listen very carefully. They always have. Now he will try to talk to them, something he does not do often with strangers. He will wait at the counter for his favorite Oreo Shake. They bring the food and they would bring that, but Buddy would rather stand and wait. So now he may try to talk to them about shakes in general. They respond. They know he is waiting, they don't tell him to sit down, you know, where I am. They are just sweet. They hand him his shake, he says thank you and comes to the table so pleased as he is drinking it on his way to the table. The food comes pretty fast. It is all made to order. I have never seen it too crowded. The place itself is super cute and very clean, always. I never have to sit at a dirty table or clean it myself. They keep up with the entire space. You order at the counter where there is a huge menu and they bring your food. They have a big menu and you can get some Mexican food and even breakfast depending on the time, but we are hooked on their chili cheese burgers. The meat is so tender and the chili is just wonderful. Their chili cheese fries with a bunch of cheddar cheese on top is the best ever. A large will serve 3 people. I went out on a limb this time and tried their chili hot dog. Just wow, it was great and will be something I order now and share. They are big, they are grilled as is the bun and the meat tastes great. I love them. There is just nothing not to love about Tomboy's.

A step above the rest, in my opinion. I have only ordered their chili cheese burger and fries with some peppers on the side and it's a solid meal. I like the burger patties they use here, because it is a light flavor and the chili doesn't feel heavy. The French fries remind me of crispier McDonald's fries. I'd recommend if you're in the area.

Burger was ok, didn't care for the spread as I don't like pickles and this had a pickle taste to it. It satisfied my hunger for the day but not a place I would re visit.

I love this location of Tomboys. I always get the same thing which is their garden burger and fried zucchini. Yes I realize this place is known for their chili but I've been ordering the same meal for the last 25 years and I am a creature of habit. I love their garden burgers! Something about the tangy sauce and the bun just makes it such a good veggie choice. (I'm not a vegetarian either btw) fried zucchini comes out piping hot and they serve really tasty ranch with it. Trust me when I say not all ranch dressings are created equal. The garden burger with a drink and upgrade to the zucchini (instead of fries) cost about $13.99.

I heard good things about this restaurant and drove the long distance to try it out. The restaurant has a relatively small parking lot in the rear which is a good thing considering the lack of street parking. I arrived just before noon which is good because after I ordered the place became pretty crowded. I ordered the chili cheeseburger combo and told the hostess "no mustard." She repeated it back to me. I received my order and sat down to dine and saw it was floating in mustard. Looked like they had mustard to spare so why not stick it on a "no mustard" burger. I went to complain but the line was so long gave up and tossed the burger away. The fries were hard and overcooked and barely edible. They ended up being my entire lunch. The location is obviously very popular so I take no pleasure in giving a poor review. The chili smelled and tasted really good. But I have a problem with digesting mustard so what could have been an outstanding meal was ruined by an inattentive cook. I doubt I'll return.

I had a bowl of the "chili". Not like any chili I've eaten before. No discernable beans. No discernable meat. Just a mixture of gruel and fat. I won't be coming back.

The chili cheese hotdog was delicious! I will definitely stop here again. My husband had the hamburger. He enjoyed it.

This place has some severe concerns with their cooking equipment. I ordered corned beef hash and there was flakes of metal in a line across the bottom of it. Even more disturbing was how much the employees could care less. Metal in the food? No big deal, right? They gave me $6 back on my $40 tab. You'd think for $40 for 2 breakfasts, it would be amazing quality, not speckled with metal.

When I visit SoCal, I'm always on the lookout for some good pastrami as Oahu is not known for being a pastrami destination. Recommended by both Yeeps Cyn L & Gloria L, I've visited Tomboy's Chiliburgers a couple of times and it's time I complete a review. Tomboy's is located near the intersection of Manhattan Beach Boulevard & Aviation Boulevard. Parking for dine in is available, and drive thru service is also available. There is another Tomboy's located several blocks away in Lawndale near CostCo. Ordered some standbys: the pastrami sandwich & chili cheese fries. When I got them I knew I wasn't going to be able to finish them, so packed up half as leftovers. The pastrami sandwich was juicy, hot, and delicious! The chili cheese fries were just as tasty, and the chili reminded me of a lot of greek diners I frequented when I lived in Michigan. Total was about $24, not a cheap eat but it does suffice for several meals. Someplace to keep on rotation when I crave pastrami in SoCal! I would like to try their breakfasts as well. Repeat and recommend!

Tomboys has one of the best pastrami sandwiches I've ever had. I'm giving them three stars because on yelp they are open until 10 but i got there before 9 and they were closing up. Please update your hours on social media.

Pros - Good flavor and portions. Decent price. Cons - They did mess up our order, putting diced onions on everything, when we asked for none. The chili, while tasting good, was a bit too runny (like they skimped on meat). And the service was pretty slow (skip the coffee drinks - they took, no joke, about 20 minutes to prepare, but the food was ready in about 10-15).

Diner style food quickly cooked to order. The food isn't too salty or greasy and tastes alright. Unfortunately we found a piece of sponge in our fries, and the inside of the restaurant is not the cleanest.

I've been meaning to try Tomboy's for a while. I had passed by a couple of the locations since I moved to California and was curious as to what it served. It wasn't until my cousin's wife told me it was a must-try that I finally stopped by! Unfortunately, I was underwhelmed with the food. For a guy who loves chili-cheese, I found the chili-cheese burgers and fries somewhat unremarkable. Both the taste and prices were essentially fair at best. The food is filling, though, so be prepared to not want to eat again for at least a couple of hours! I may have to give another try one day, but I am certainly in no rush.

3.5 stars, actually; the crisp thin-cut fries are really good. Stopped here for lunch on a whim & wasn't disappointed: the cheeseburger was tasty with lots of onions and cooked just right. On the downside it's kind of on the pricy side but what place isn't these days? If I were near I'd probably try something else but the "boy-gur" was just fine. They have an extensive menu so there's something for everyone, and the breakfasts must be good b/c quite a few people ordered them. Service was friendly and they have a nice outdoor eating area in addition to a few tables indoors. If you're in the area & looking for something instead of fast food check 'em out!

5 stars for what it is! A local, no-frills burger spot. Classic cheeseburgers, large fries, and a side small bowl of chili for dipping is our order. Love the drive-up window for pickup orders too. Satisfies our burger and chili fries cravings!

Been hitting this place up since I was a very young kid, back in the 80s. Still a great burger, still great value. This place is a South Bay Legacy, and I hope they're around for a long time.

Genuinely the most disgusting food I've ever had at a restaurant. Got a asada taco and chili cheese dog. The taco meat tasted like it had been run through the dishwasher. I threw up after taking a bite.

The food was good , I definitely enjoyed my meal. Best fried zucchini was great! The service was a good. You order at the counter and have a seat, and they call your number. Ambiance was ok. The establishment itself was clean and decent looking.

Tomboy's french fries are too darn good. Now, I have to have them when I order my breakfast sandwich! Very yummy breakfast burritos. I'll order mine without potatoes, because I don't need the extra carbs, but just the meat, cheese, and eggs are enough. Not quite sure what makes this particular burrito so good, but after they stop serving breakfast, they will give it to you as a sandwich - just like this one - upon request. They also fry jalapeños, for crazy people like me. Shout out to Natalie!

My order: 3 fish tacos 1 shrimp burrito 1chicken burrito 1 zucchini fries 1 cheese burger 1 Chinese chicken salad The fish tacos were good. They looked good and had decent flavor. The shrimp burrito and chicken burrito were generic. The meat wasn't seasoned well. They each were a good size but just ok. The zucchini fries were awful. Apparently they used pancake or waffle batter to coat the fries and tasted like cinnamon. It was so weird. The chicken salad was doused in dressing that killed the lettuce pretty quickly. Service was nice enough but I don't think I'd stop by again.

I've been on a pastrami sandwich kick lately and decided to check this place out. The roll was on a decent size French roll loaded with a NY size of pastrami. It was so big, I could only finish half. The pastrami was tender and not overly fatty. The French fries were equally good. Price wise, this was one of the more pricier pastrami sandwiches, but it definitely had the most meat to justify the price.

The food is good when you have a craving for chili burger, But the Chilli fries will put you to sleep. The service is another thing the people are very rude and short with their customers. But I'll go back when I need some chilli dog, burgers et. et.

We all have those days when greasy, comfort food is a must and Tomboy's is one of our go-to places for those days. The mushroom Swiss burger and crispy fries (plain or chili cheese fries) are a must! This place has been a local favorite for a long time and the hire a lot of local teens part time so lots of community support all around. Service can be slow, at times, but still efficient overall and everyone is always pleasant and polite. Special kudos to one of the full-time gentlemen who works there, I believe his name is Abel. My last visit was through the drive-through and he had accidentally charged me for several wrong items. I didn't notice it myself as I had just figured prices had gone up. But before I got my order he came back to the window to apologize and explained that he had made an error and gave me the price difference and adjusted receipt. Honest, efficient service and good comfort food will keep me coming back!

I ordered a breakfast burrito at the drive thru. Sat there at the window for way too long before a lady came up and asked what I ordered. She then told me it was coming right up. She came back several minutes later and said they gave my order to the wrong person but it would be right out. Ok, things like that happen. Totally understand. Several minutes later, a man comes to the window and asks what I ordered. I tell him, and then he asks me if I already paid. I said no, and he went back inside to check where my order was at. He then came back and said the cooks don't even have my order. Never got my food after waiting in excess of 20 minutes in the drive thru.

The online menu says that the pastrami sandwich is 13.79, and the cashier charged me 18.74. However, the Yelp menu has the same sandwich for 15+. Incredible! I sawed the cashier and she said, "there's nothing I can do." Please be careful and verify the prices.

Why would anyone in their right mind sit in line in a car at a chain drive through for 30+minutes when they can get a gorgeous double cheeseburger with fries right away here? My #1 combo was fantastic. They have a huge menu. Can't wait to come back and try everything else!

I know they're known for their chili (supposedly), but I was more enticed with trying one of their fat-a$$ pastrami sandwiches! I got lucky and got here early enough to avoid the lunch crowd, so the service was beyond reasonably quick. "Pastrami combo, no pickles, please?!" "You got it!" I was barely getting my drink and grabbing a couple of packets of salt and pepper when they called my number out. It was visually pleasing. It was exactly as I pictured the whole combination. Fries were deep fried thin and crispy and not greasy at all. But the pastrami sandwich was YUM!!! Those thin slices of well-brined and season meat were held well by a soft (almost fluffy!) bun. Just... DELICIOUS! It was a lot of food, so I saved half for a second meal. FOOD: 5. Made to order. SERVICE: 5. Service with a smile. They prepped my food quickly and they didn't forget to not include pickles. VALUE: 5. Really good for a combo! PARKING: Private lot. If it gets full, metered street parking is available. OVERALL: 5. I will come back one day and try their chili. Word is going around it's comparable to Tommy's. (Hubbers is an almost-expert on that subject, so I may just have to make him try and judge it!) Lots to try on their menu. Looking forward to the next visit!

When it comes to comfort food, this place offers a wide variety of options for whatever you are craving. Let me start with the fried zucchini! This is a comfort food that I get when I want to feel halfway healthy, and I loved that even with being delivered, the zucchini arrived crispy and not soggy at all. I loved the uniformly cut slices and the batter had a little bit of a sweetness to it that countered the savory flavor of the zucchini nicely. I gave this place four stars though because of the many menu options and because of the chili burger! Now, I compare all chili burgers to Tommy burgers and this gave me a similar feel, enough to put me in the zone. I love that as far as greasy spoon diners go, this one has so many options with hotdogs and pastrami and all sorts of stuff on the menu! The hotdog comes with so many amazing toppings on it, it was eaten so fast I didn't even get a picture first. Though it's fast food, everything feels a bit extra which is why we like it!

This is not gourmet dining, but sometimes you just want a greasy hamburger. After shopping at Costco, we stopped in for a double chili cheeseburger for my husband, and a regular hamburger and fries for me. The burgers are cooked to order and the ingredients tasted fresh. The fries were pretty good for fast food. There are 2 Tom Boys in the area. One is on Marine as you drive out of Costco, and there's this one across Trader Joe's on Manhattan Beach Blvd. We like this location better. The servers are courteous and there's adequate parking in their private lot.
