"Pizza by the slice is not as much of a thing as it used to be, but at Tommie’s a cheese slice is enough for a nice little lunch for three bucks. Add a Caesar for another $4." - Alex Lodner

As a person with Italian heritage and a dedicated pizza lover, please understand me when I say this pizza is incredible and some of the best there is! Whether you like authentic original Italian (paper thin), Chicago deep dish, Detroit style or anything in between - your palate is in for a treat! The flavors and seasonings in their sauce is the most savory and perfectly made. We love the buttery crust and the New York style brought to the twin cities. We appreciate the obvious love and thought put into these pizza pies! I’m not necessarily a pizza snob, but I’m also certainly not easy to impress. This is hands down my favorite pizza in the state and Midwest. Wings are also near perfection. We love all the pizzas but our favorite is still cheese (because it’s simple and hard for many places to make a good cheese pizza). Depending on the the time of day you come, you may be waiting a little longer then expected and it will be worth it!! Don’t let this bother you, it’s a small owned spot and they are freshly preparing your pie !!! Parking can also be difficult but that’s just the area, so just be prepared it’s a busy area with limited street parking. The service is always professional, friendly and it appears to be family owned. Black owned if I’m not mistaken, double win if you ask me. Highly recommend !!!

Google
Total rip off. . Just ordered a delivery pizza, took forever. Ordered Xtra Cheese, Pepperoni and sausage. Much of the pizza had no cheese and no sausage. Look half a pizza... 3 whole pieces of sausage on 2 pieces. Wow, I'm overwhelmed...

Google
Stopped by this place because of the reviews and we were not disappointed. You can tell that quality is of importance to Tommy. Everything from the pizza to salad were excellent! Fantastic ingredients used and ample portions. And the wings were out of this world!! Lastly, I forgot to order my Cesar salad and he dropped it in our bag for no charge. What a delight! We will be back.

Google
Ok... Here goes. What can I say about Tommie's Pizza--PLENTY! First of all, I'm originally from New York and I am always looking for that signature NY style slice, so when I looked at the list of pizza places that were close to me and I saw "Tommie's Pizza", I instantly had to try it. My expectations were blown away after a chat I had with the owner, Tommie. We talked pizza and the value of a good crust... Tommie's quote, "the crust holds everything on the pizza up, so it's gotta be good." Indeed it is Tommie! We talked about how New Yorkers assume that when you have pizza, you're having wings... yep, Tommie generously brought me out some wings to try (sauce of his choice)... damn Tommie! They were some of the best wings I've ever eaten. I mean just look at the two pictures. When Tommie set that pie (that's what a New Yorker calls a pizza) down in front of me, I snatched a bite off a slice before I took the pic. So good! If you're looking for a whole pie, a personal pie, a giant pie or a single slice of heaven, search no further. Stop in a grab a slice and DO NOT forget the wings! You will NOT be dissapointed. Tommie's was voted the 3rd BEST slice in the entire NATION in 2021 -- there is a reason for that. MPR did an interview with Tommie in August of 2023 and they raved about it... and YOU will also. Tommie's is family owned and completely operated by his family. I wish I was family so I could work with Tommie and his kids... but what I can do is take the 65 mile trip from central MN to Tommie's every now and then to say hi to an incredible person and to enjoy the mastery he cooks into every crust and marinades on every wing. Hats off the one of the very best pizza pies and wings I've ever sunk my teeth in! Tommie, if you're reading this... you've made a patron of your pizza pie factory for life my friend!

Google
Wow! As a NY native, it’s hard to find the good pizza I’m used to. This is truly the best pizza I’ve ever had. The wings were outstanding as well. Tommie packaged the order when I got there so it was hot and fresh. Highly recommend.

A few weeks ago I got a craving for Tommie’s Pizza (The crust! The crust!) We had just recently discovered this gem. It was 8:20 pm when I called to order a pizza. The person answering the phone said they closed at 8:00 pm but said he’d check to see if he could make it happen. He quickly got back to me with a yes. What business does that?! They do! Amazing service and fantastic pizza.

Google
I have had a LOT of pizza around the Twin Cities and this is hands down the BEST I have ever had. The wings were also incredible with the secret Selby sauce. We have never eaten at a place where both the pizza and the wings were so delicious. The service was also fantastic, very quick and lovely folks to chat with. Could not recommend this place more and we will definitely be back!

Howie Gerstner

Google
We love Tommie's! Simply the best. Awesome food (truly best pizza I think I've ever had. I don't know pizza really well, but I can taste that this stuff stands apart!) and the Selby wings are A+++ Owners are super nice and clearly love this restaurant. Just a superb experience all around! Check out Tommie's!!

Yelp
Amazing business great staff/owners Clean best pizza in wings in MN This place does not disappoint I will only order pizza & wings from here!!!

Jenny V.

Yelp
Good thin slice pizza, crust is good More sauce would be great Waiting time is longer even for a slice of pizza, would recommend ordering AHEAD of time

David L.

Yelp
The best pizza. very nice owners and stuffs. I LOVE THE TOMMIE SPECIAL. Highly recommended

Tiffany W.

Yelp
A great place to shop local! Tiny interior, large flavor and even better service. Popped in on a Sunday evening to grab two slices of cheese pizza and was greeted right away. A note for those hoping to get a slice quickly - compare the process to waiting on a normal pizza because it's all made in house and warmed to perfection. I wasn't in a rush so this didn't bother me and I also saw some other reviews pointed this out too. I'll totally be returning and hope to dine in as the high top bar by the windows gives an excellent view of Selby and truly glows over the holiday months with all the twinkle lights. Thank you!

Alison K.

Yelp
I came here because we had really limited time and just needed to grab a slice and run. Tommies serves pizza by the slice, in addition to full size pizzas and wings. I didn't have the wings but I smelled them while I was waiting and the wings smelled incredible. I'm not a wing person and I was tempted. The pizza was fine- but I didn't really get to eat it because it took too long. They don't have pizza slices at the ready, they appear to make your slice custom. You can add a few toppings but don't expect it to be a quick grab and go slice. This is a perfect place for the solo diner who dreams of ordering the perfect slice with all your fave toppings. However, it is not the spot for the hangry chick who is perpetually late, freaking out and ends up only getting 3 bites before she flies to the next thing. I'll probably try Tommies again, but not when I'm starving and in a hurry- although that's like a lightening striking.

Nils H.

Yelp
I'm pretty sure the food was good when it was first delivered. Unfortunately, the delivery person messed it up. On a nice brisk, winter night (about 5 degrees!) they dropped the pizza at the front door and didn't bother knock, ring the bell, text or log the delivery in their app. I was monitoring the delivery progress and the delivery time kept getting pushed out until finally I watched it push out, refresh, and tell me it had been delivered 15 minutes earlier. This totally isn't Tommie's fault - tried looking for a way to ding the delivery service. So...when looking at the stars I gave, please remember this includes the chow sitting outside in 5 degree winter weather for 15 minutes.

Darrell S.

Yelp
Tommie's pizza was delicious!!! So were the wings!!! We had cheese pizza and selby wings, and returned the following day for pizza and wings (split selby & BBQ). Next time we're in the Twin Cities, we'll definite eat at Tommie's, rated the Best Pizza in the Twin Cities, by our daughter who KNOWS pizza. We agree!

Lilianna S.

Yelp
The service was great, Ambiance was a good pizza place without arcade games. Got a Medium pizza and Selby Wings, which were good without sauce, came back the next day for more pizza and barbecue wings. The food was also super flavorful.

Karla V.

Yelp
Pepperoni pizza is to die for, they put oregano, which makes it taste AMAZING! I love this place, clean, great service, and delicious food. All around a great place!

Annie M.

Yelp
I can't comment on the quality of their food, so maybe if you went in to the storefront you'd have a different experience. But therein lies the problem. I tried to order from delivery from their website, but it only let me add three toppings to a pizza. Since we wanted more than that, I called the store to place a delivery order with them directly. I explained what was going on to the kind woman who answered (after about four attempts to get a call through). She told me to order through door dash and that it was a known issue with their web platform. I should add the additional toppings in as comments. We decided to order a couple of their speciality pizzas instead to avoid confusion and wrong charges. I placed the order about an hour before they closed, with an expected delivery time about 55 minutes later (5 minutes before they closed). The door dash driver picked up my food about 7:45, then within 5 minutes I got a call that the driver had their "engine overheat" and that our order was cancelled. It was too late for us to place a new order, and it was then 8:00 on a Sunday night so there weren't many available options where we live. The text I got from door dash also said that the restaurant cancelled the order, not door dash. This all seems very sketchy to me, especially since I tried to order from them as their own company and was redirected to door dash instead. So I have no idea if their food is good or not, but their service is certainly lacking on all fronts.

Patricia B.

Yelp
Great service and love you can get a slice without ordering an entire pie. Really good!

Ralph M.

Yelp
On my adventure to try out the best of the best NY-Style twin cities pizza spots, Tommie's has been on my list for quite awhile. In the last year, I must have driven by this place almost everyday on my way home from work (pre-COVID anyway) and said, "hey, new pizza joint, gotta try!" It's after all practically in my back yard. Well, now the word is out and after seeing so many recommendations I realized I couldn't put it off any longer--scratch that; one bite and I realize I've been depriving myself for the last year! Their popularity has increased and therefore so have take out wait times, so keep that in mind and budget a little extra time--but damn that wait is worth it. Flavorful cheese and toppings, sweet tomatoey sauce, and crispy-soft, foldable crust needs to be in your future We went with a classic pepperoni/sausage for our first rodeo and it was nothing short of comforting perfection. Pies can be ordered in up to 18" and I've heard their grilled wings are quite the contender as well. Check 'em!

Neil S.

Yelp
Good pizza for a good price. I ordered the very veggie and it was delicious; as close to a salad as you can get for a pizza. I myself would have prolly added some more things if the option was available (prolly was under a build your own pie selection, but not as part of the pre-sets), I like some heat and could also see some meat additions working really well. Dough options might be good, too - both types of dough as well as styles (extra baked or thick/thin etc) Overall, though, good local pizza for taste and price-paid.

Melodie W.

Yelp
Selby wings are FIRE! We also had the 3 meat pizza & buffalo chicken pizza. ALL GREAT! Two thumbs up! Would have a picture, but we ate too fast

Terry H.

Yelp
What a big disappointment! I rely on Yelp reviews to guide me to good restaurants and I am very disappointed that the reviews guided me to Tommie's. Ordered on-line for a pick up time of 5:40 (before slam time). I arrived and had to circle for a parking spot in the congested area. Ended up parking with my the back end of me vehicle slightly into an alley. Went in to pick up the order and it wasn't ready.....5 minutes they said. I consoled myself that as long as I didn't get a ticket for my marginal parking, that the benefit would be good hot pizza and wings, which I had read really good things about. After 5 or so minutes I had me food and returned to my vehicle, which hadn't been ticketed. So far, sort of so good. My house is close to Tommies, only a 4 to 5 minute drive. I returned home and sat down with my wife to enjoy food from our new found pizza joint. To my disappointment, the pizza was cold. I had to wait 5+ minutes beyond the pickup time for my order and yet the pizza was cold? Besides, the flavor was about the same as Dominoes and they had omitted the extra item I had paid for (Canadian Bacon). Secondly, their raved about wings, while good, are certainly not great. I can name at least a half dozen places in the Twin Cities that have much better wings. I have several conclusions from my experience tonight. - Maybe I caught them on an off night - Maybe the reviews are suspect and are from a bunch of friends and family - Maybe other reviewers actually like their food and don't mind mediocre service - No matter the situation, I have many good restaurants near me and I will not be returning

Gus D.

Yelp
Finding that balance between the perfect crust and toppings may be a life-time effort, but now that I've found Tommie's Pizza on Selby I can go to the next life knowing I won't likely find it any better. Here's the thing, too: Pizza of this quality that is made by a real family (not a corporation) is gem that many in the neighborhood may not know. If you live nearby, you owe it to yourself to check it out. Even if you don't live near, you'll appreciate the crispy crust that can be reheated in a pan for extra pleasure the next morning! Yum!

Sarah B.

Yelp
Great pizza, friendly owner! I love this local pizza spot! Highly recommend, you can also get great wings!

Amarachi J.

Yelp
Great family owned restaurant over there and they make pretty good pizza! I heard they have beef pepperoni. I'll try that the next time I go.

Bobbie T.

Yelp
Tommie's pizza is the new black owned pizzeria in St. Paul. This is a great small business. It's a one man show with him cooking and acting as the cashier. There is a bit of a wait, but everything is made fresh and the customer service is exceptional.

Sue R.

Yelp
Delicious New York-style pizza, but the wings were the real show stopper- honestly some of the best I've ever had. The Buffalo sauce was on point, spicy enough but not mouth-on-fire spicy, and the wings had amazing char from the grill. I was a little bummed they didn't come with blue cheese dressing, but it only took one bite to realize they didn't need it. They were that good.

Alexandra L.

Yelp
We recently tried Tommie's for the first time and really enjoyed it! We got two of the Tommie's pizzas, which have mushrooms, pepperoni, sausage, and onions. The medium was really big! We got two mediums for four of us and barely touched the second pizza, they looked like larges from other places. The highlight was definitely the crust, which tastes like it is brushed with garlic butter. The texture and flavor were both really great. The overall effect was just a little dull/bland - I think the onions lacked much bite so with some chili pepper flakes or more inventive toppings, it might have been a little more impressive or popped more! Overall, really tasty and will likely try again.

Wayne B.

Yelp
Oh wow, we got the margherita pie and the aroma alone is worth getting this pizza. Huge NY style. Very fresh ingredients. The staff is always friendly and appreciative of everyones business. If you want a great slice you have to try Tommies Pizza.

Miah U.

Yelp
Stopped in for a slice on the way to do some work things. Their curbside pickup setup is fast, clean, and I appreciate the clear care for people's health and safety in doing so. Pizza is literally my favorite food. That said, I'm a snob. I appreciated that I could get a slice of pizza with any topping for under $4. I also appreciated that lil' sprinkling of parmesan on top at the end (though my digestive system disagrees). The crust had good flavor, perhaps some garlic powder? Who knows. HOWEVER, I wish that there was more sauce - I lean on having a heavier dose of sauce on my slices otherwise it ends up tasting like cheese bread. That said, I'll definitely be back to support this black owned business. Power to the people.

Gina G.

Yelp
I have driven past Tommie's pizza for a year now and after today I am mad at myself for not stopping sooner. We had a craving for pizza and wings. We called to order as we were driving there. It only took 15 minutes to make and pick up. The people on the phone were friendly and helpful. We got a large pepperoni pizza- when I think NY pizza this is it! The sauce, the flavor, the crust (had grill marks), Everything was delicious! Ok now I have to talk about why I gave this place 5 stars and I have two words- SELBY SAUCE! The wings are fire!(Really good) We got six buffalo and six with their signature "Selby sauce" we should have got 20! I don't care if you like wings or not- this sauce will make you a believer! A must try! And make sure you have some napkins close by OR just lick your fingers! You won't want to waste that sauce anyways!

Sharon L.

Yelp
My go-to pizza place. Not only is the location great, the pizza is always fresh and never too oily... certainly not the the big chain pizza places. Toppings are varied and delicious-- must try!

Ngi S.

Yelp
When I took my first bite of Tommies Pizza, I felt nostalgic! It tasted like the old school St. Paul parlor Pizza Papa, which I not only grew up eating in the 80s, but is my all time favorite pizza!! It tasted like Papas except it was NYC style, which I knew ahead of time so that's all good. If brother Tommie had Chicago style pizza options, I would be the happiest pizza foodie in St. Paul! As far as those wings are concerned, OMG!!! Opther mom and pop pizza parlor's might as well throw in the towel, because they are not going to make wings that match or are better than Tommie's!!! The reasons why I didn't give it 5 stars is becaise: 1. I wanted extra cheese, but it didn't seem like they did. Also I wanted buffalo wing sauce, but although it tasted good, it simply DID NOT taste like buffalo wing sauce. Otherwise Tommie's pizza is lit!!

Camille B.

Yelp
I eat pizza like I just played a game of some sport and I'm a middle schooler in need of carbs. None of these things are true but what's real is how Tommie's Pizza is the best pizza in Saint Paul. This is a family-owned business and they are super friendly. Delicious deluxe ingredients draw you in and a masterfully yummy crust keeps you coming back. I literally hate crust. All the crust. Ever. Made. So, if you need a revelation in crust you should eat pizza here. That's it!

Devin N.

Yelp
Once I heard there was a Black-owned pizza place that just opened up, I had to give it a try. Ordered a couple pizzas for a poker night, and we all loved it. Luckily, I had left overs for myself, so I got to enjoy it the next day too. The slices are HUGE, definitely meant to be folded. The pizza had a LOT of cheese, like one of those cartoon slices of pizza that we all wanted to try when we were little. So it looked phenomenal, and it tasted even better! I usually don't like to eat the crust on pizza, but I ate every single bite. They earned themselves a lifelong customer, and I will be definitely recommending this place to other people!

Abigail B.

Yelp
Listen!!! This pizza is delicious. We just had it for dinner. Crust was tasty and it was fresh and hot. Worth it. Thanks Tommie!!!

Marta Z.

Yelp
For classic pizzas this is now my go-to spot! The seasoning of the crust and sauce kick it up a notch from the other pizza places in town.

Ashley K.

Yelp
I just discovered this place and am so upset with myself I didn't order sooner. This has quickly become our go to pizza place. Everything about this pizza is perfect.

Paul J.

Yelp
Really good New York style pizza. Just the right amount of toppings and cheese. Big slices so you have to fold it as you should. Also got wings which were hot off the grill and full of flavor. Highly recommend!

Jerry W.

Yelp
Tommie's got it right. Authentic New York Pizza in Minnesota, a real treat. Will be back for sure

Lauren M.

Yelp
The pizza is really good and fresh! I like the crust. The owner is always so friendly!

Hannah S.

Yelp
New family owned business in Saint Paul! Talked to the owner as he made my pizza. He uses smoked Canadian bacon that he cuts julienne for a more even spread on the Hawaiian pizza. It's delicious! He also mentioned they are soon expanding the menu to include salads and paninis. Come check it out and support this awesome new Saint Paul small business!

Lawrence B.

Yelp
If you are looking for LEGIT NYC style pizza in the twin cities, this is your spot. I lived in NYC for 15 years and when I moved here I was kinda bummed. What are these square slices? What is this crust? What's going ON?? Then Tommie's opened and my pizza prayers were answered. Fantastic guy, even better pizza. Seriously order from here, you won't regret it.

Michael C.

Yelp
Staff was great, unfortunately the food was not. I would rate their pizza as slightly below the quality of the Jacks pizza that you can pick up in the frozen grocery aisle at most stores.

Michael N.

Yelp
Great local pizza spot. The prices and be beat! Authentic New York Style Pizza in the Twin Cities..

Nick C.

Yelp
Pretty good pizza and Tommie is awesome. A genuine owner who cares about his product and a cool place to hang out for a quick bite.

Steven R.

Yelp
I rarely post reviews on Yelp, but I need to give this place the credit it's due. You can tell Tommie makes this pizza from the heart, it's quality New York pizza, nothing overly fancy, just damn good pizza and wings. And he's a super friendly person. If you like New York style pizza, check this place out!

Rebekah S.

Yelp
Tommie's Pizza is our new favorite neighborhood spot for a slice or take out. The pizza is New York Style, very tasty, cheesy, and made to order. The wings are impressive! I definitely recommend the Selby sauce option. Tommie is really nice, we've always had really good customer service. We are now regulars as are glad to have a good pizza spot in MacGroveland.

Kali J.

Yelp
Really good "New York" style pizza! Try the chicken wings with Selby Sauce!! Really yummy!

Gayle B.

Yelp
I can understand the extra half hour delay, and I'll even overlook that I had to go out in the snow and walk around the corner to inform the GrubHub driver that they were on the wrong street, but when your 7-year-old is expecting half the large pizza will be pepperoni and instead we get a full-on margherita with a few pepperoni slices sprinkled on half, the evening does not end on a pleasant note. Yes, I got to have pizza delivered rather than going out on a snowy night, but I would so much rather order from a person on the phone and avoid all the mistakes that seem to always happen via GrubHub.

Lauren G.

Yelp
Great local option if you are tired of the mainstream jokers. Fresh toppings, New York style crust, great customer service!

Katherine S.

Yelp
I really love this pizza. Not sure why anyone isn't happy with it but it has always been great every time I order. The crust is perfect thickness and cooked just right. I do not feel they are overloading on the cheese and I am someone who does not want too much or extra cheese on my pizza - I often order light cheese elsewhere. Absolutely do not agree with comments About this being in line with frozen pizza-in no way, shape or form is that accurate. Ingredients are great and the sauce is a classic sauce. I've always felt that pizza luce's sauce has too much sugar and this is far more balanced/savory.

Pete Z.

Yelp
Very very tasty. Owned and staffed by a friendly dude - a one man show pizzeria, and can't not respect that. I didn't try the wings but there was another customer there who totally raved about them, and I could smell them cooking, they smelled great. Had a few slices of cheese and they were fantastic. Give this place a try.

Tim G.

Yelp
Just at the special "Tommie's Pizza". It was very good. Already looking forward to it for lunch tomorrow.!

Elizabeth V.

Yelp
Ordered a one topping pizza with onions, easy cheese and buffalo wings. What arrived was a pizza loaded with cheese and hardly any topping and quality of a frozen pizza...and the wings were covered in slimy skin. Definitely not worth the price.

Jim D.

Yelp
I have been to Tommie's Pizza many times and I think it is wonderful. Definitely my favorite pizza place in the Twin Cities. Whether I get a slice or two, or buy a whole pizza, I am always glad I came there. It's just great New York style pizza, and I recommend it to anyone. The crust, sauce, and toppings are worth coming back for. Tommie is a sweetheart and all the counter staff I have met there are very kind as well. Two things I like a lot are that Tommie Makes The Pizza (nobody else) and Tommie signs every box with Thank You! and a "T" inside a circle. Don't wait another minute - get down there today!

Marlee D.

Yelp
The food is BOMB. I know they're a pizzeria but if you go make sure you try the wings. Lots of different flavors for wings, my favorite is the Selby wings. The owner is super friendly. This place is pretty much the only reason I go to St. Paul.
