"The menu at Tommyknocker’s is an unlikely take on fusion comfort food cuisine, mixing traditional Cornish pasties (plump, savory pies stuffed with meat, potato, veg, and gravy) and vegetarian staples like lentil-eggplant lasagna and vegan mac and cheese. The unifying theme is comfort food: everything on offer is satisfying and at least a little indulgent. There’s a similar sensibility in the casual dining room, where the spirit is as welcoming and family-friendly as an English pub." - Matthew Lombardi

I'm a little disappointed in the shepherd's pie and the chicken pie. They were a bit too dry for me. I understand there was some gravy sauce served on the side, and I used half of the gravy, but it still doesn't quite hit the spot. However, the sizzling mac and cheese put on quite a show and was delicious according to our friend who ordered it. The clam chowder was also quite good. The staff are very friendly. My friend had an issue with the beer. Note the beer served is very flat as it is common in British culture. It would have been nice if they could tell us this when my friend ordered the beer, as things common to British culture is Not common knowledge for everyone.

We came by for dinner on a Sunday, and we were lucky to find a table indoors. They have both indoor and outdoor seating, but it was very hot that day, and the restaurant is seat-yourself. Unfortunately our table was half in the Sun, and since there is no AC, it was uncomfortable. The menu is interesting but the kids meals are a bit overpriced. Same basic items at other restaurants are about half the cost for kids. After ordering at the counter, we went to make our own drinks at the water dispenser. Unfortunately serveral of the cups stacked for using were actually dirty. I had to search through them to find a clean one. The food came to our table quickly, but I did notice at our table there was a hair twisted into the cap of the salt shaker, which is pretty gross. The waitress also accidentally spilled some food on my purse, but that was ok, things happen. Both my daughter and my friend ordered the Mac n Cheese, one a kids portion and one an adult portion. They were both the exact same size in the exact same bowl, even though the adult portion costs more! So just be aware if that's what you want to order.

Food was excellent. Friendly staff. Plenty of vegan options. I got the vegan shepherds pie and my friend got the salmon chowder and crab mac n cheese. There’s also outdoor seating. We both enjoyed our food.

I had the lentil eggplant lasagna and scotch eggs. Both delicious service was good. You order at cash register and they’ll bring the food to you Since it was cold and and off sprinkles few ate outside. But there is plenty of seating outside in the back in front. Not a lot inside.

Came for the pasties. Ordered the lamb with mango chutney. The crust was great, ample filling and the corners, true to form, were the best part. Sat outside by the water and almost felt like I was back in Cornwall.

Good food and great selection of different hot sauces. Fairly wide drink selection but only 4 start because no ciders on tap and only one cider available at all (share size bottle, more expensive, and quite dry). The Mac and cheese was quite delicious tho (got both bacon and mushroom version and liked both). The pasties are good too.

Meat-eating cheese lover traveling with vegan, gluten-free friend? I feel for you. For once you can stop compromising and have a nice meal together, and share an **amazing local, organic cider! There are vegan and gluten free options, but none of the pasties are vegan or gluten free, FYI. Indoor dining as well as sidewalk AND back patio seating options. The chowder smashed. I also had the scotch eggs which came with a little salad and between those two things I was very well fed. Super sweet staff were helpful and patient with us out-of-towners :)

Great food and happy vibe. The pasties were mostly sold out so I went with the falafel on flatbread. It was so flavorful. I wasn't very hungry, but ate the whole thing anyway. My husband raved about the Irish Death Pulled Pork sliders. You can choose 2 or 3 sliders. I drank the Alpenfire Bone Dry cider. It was delicious; dry but not scrumpy. My husband loved the Pineapple Fanta option.

Yelp
Tommyknocker's was fabulous! It is a small place sporting British fare, with some Northwestern spins. Their main draw is their pasties, which are huge- close in size to a calzone. They can easily make for 2 meals. In addition to their expansive menu they also offer a daily special. We ordered the strawberry salad, pigs in a blanket, scotch eggs, lamb mint pasty, bangers and mash pasty, reuben pasty, lentil-eggplant lasagna, and the daily special: english breakfast burrito and a cup of basil tomato soup. The salad was HUGE- we split it as an appetizer between 6 people. It was absolutely delicious! The strawberries were fresh and sweet, and well balanced by the vinaigrette, cheese, pepitas and other accompaniments. Pigs in a pretzel blanket were fluffy and served with a cheese dip. I would highly recommend these. My party enjoyed the scotch eggs and reported that they held quite a bit of spicy heat. The three pasties we got were wonderful. The fillings were encompassed by a beautifully flaky golden pastry dough. The lamb one was served with a lovely mango chutney that offered just a hint of heat, a thousand island sauce graced the plate of the reuben and the banger one was served with a side of gravy. They make their banger sausages in house and they are phenomenal-easily the most flavorful banger I've ever tasted. I was pleasantly surprised by the lasagna, as I'm not an eggplant/yam fan. The flavors melded together to create a lovely aromatic dish. The lentils were cooked perfectly and the dish as a whole was composed beautifully. My grandfather could not sing enough praise for the burrito and soup! That tomato basil soup was incredibly robust and flavorful. The service was so friendly, and we were able to seat our party of 6 outside on their picnic tables. They offer inside seating as well for smaller parties. There is also a variety of drinks available (I had the fruit punch and it was refreshing, but very sweet). I believe the prices were reasonable, especially as the menu offers a range of options at varying prices.

Yelp
Okay, I've now been to Tommyknocker's on multiple occasions, and I can indeed confirm their mac & cheese is on my all-time "Mac & Cheese Mount Rushmore." It's probably #1, in all honesty. I truly miss this stuff when I'm not in Port Townsend (aka 99.99999% of my life, sadly). Great, friendly service as always, and a fun mix of people and vibes thanks to their "pub" like feel.

Tracy K.

Yelp
I rely on the reviews on Yelp. This was the first time in many years that I don't agree with the high ratings this place got. We ordered 2 pasty's and 2 beers. The beer I ordered for my husband was out so I got a different one. The beers are on a chalkboard - erase what you don't have. As for the pastys, they were not anything I would order again. The dough tasted like it wasn't fully baked, that's the best way I can explain it. Bottom line: we gave them $56 and left more than 1/2 of each pasty and 1/2 the beer in our glasses. Disappointed and won't visit again.

Dave G.

Yelp
Really great pasty - the steak pieces were big and the side sauce was pretty essential to the flavor. Missus had the vegan (faux) crab cake burger, super delicious with tasty slaw. Beers (hazy) had the right balance for a pasty. I've had the real deal in the UK and these were close, perhaps the filling was a tad less hearty, but good flavor and tasty crust.

Joyce L.

Yelp
I was happy with my vegan Shepard's pie here. The flavors were tasty and surprisingly very filling. Thought it was on the smaller size when I received but couldn't even finish it! Staff is friendly. If you're in Port Townsend, I definitely say you should check it out!

Brenda P.

Yelp
I've walked by this place a couple of times, and it caught my attention. It's a super small, pub experience. When you walk in there are is a small dining area, and then a place to grab a menu, and order. They bring the food out you exceptionally fast! I'm talking less than 5 mins it felt like, 10 mins tops. Did I mention it's kid friendly?! Everything was absolutely delicious!!! That slaw though!!! I would take the ferry just for the slaw alone!! We will be back, and I will be telling my friends!!! I will absolutely be back for more!

Jamie R.

Yelp
Okay so the world needs to know about the Vegan Crab Cake Sandwich. It was INSANE. I am not exaggerating it was one of the best things I have eaten in my life. I added the vegan mozzarella cheese - do it! The "crab cake" was so flavorful, moist on the inside, and crispy outside. The vegan pesto aioli was out of this world. The interplay between all the flavors was pure magic. I rarely write reviews but need everyone to try this sandwich. As a vegan I loved the clearly marked menu items including a summary list at the back listing all vegan items at once so I didn't have the hunt through the menu. Thank you so much for including multiple vegan options that are not afterthoughts, not cop out replacements like Impossible burgers, and truly celebrate vegan cuisine. I also love that you have meat and gluten free on the menu too so everyone can enjoy a meal together in your lovely restaurant. Thank you!!

Yelp
Went here for Fourth of July and came back the next day because it was close to our inn and so delicious! The biggest draw was their vegan menu with an impressive selection of items. I got the vegan Mac n cheese which was so creamy and filling. My husband ordered the Teddy Oggie which he greatly enjoyed. For round two I tried the vegan flatbread. It was a bit oily but full of flavor. My husband got the big dawg with coleslaw which was another enjoyable meal. We shared the vegan cheese cake both days and it is probably one of the best vegan desserts I've ever had!!! Even if you're not vegan I would highly recommend. Hoping we can come back one more time before the end of our trip. There is also both indoor and outdoor seating options which is nice.

Tessa H.

Yelp
Delicious food, kind service at the register. We were impressed by the portions and flavor of all the dishes we tried! Outdoor seating during a sunny summer day in Port Townsend is a must if you get a chance

TC B.

Yelp
We walked in to try some pasties for a smaller meal before we went soaking around the corner. Plus, it's a Sun Devil owned business . The pasties were a good size and the crust is perfect. We had a lamb and mint and a bangers and mash. Both were very good. The pub itself is festooned with premier league banners, scarves, etc. as well as FC Sounders flags. Of course, there's some ASU stuff in there as well. The staff is friendly and prompt. Ordering is at the counter and they're happy to tell you what the scoop is with the pasties and the available ale selection. Tommyknocker's is a great stop for a savory treat in Port Townsend.

Robert K.

Yelp
Meh, not that good. Had the Ruben and Mint Lamb pasty's. The crust was good but the filling was sub-par. Even the beer had a funky taste. Fortunately we salvaged the eating experience done the street at the pizza joint.

Louie F.

Yelp
A little English pub style restaurant that makes their own bangers. I say this because the bangers are amazing! I can't get anything but the banger and mash pasty with extra gravy. I am not even a banger and mash fan. There is no table service so you order at the checkout. If you are going for a pasty check the board because they go fast.

Anders B.

Yelp
Food? Delicious. Beer and wine choices? On point. Speedy and clean. Old school English food with new age flare. Out door seating is secluded enough for conversations but open enough to people watch. Make sure to swing by if you have a few extra minutes between shopping and sight seeing. ADDITIONAL: Great service, didn't have Stout beers but (c'est la vie). the patrons I chatted with didn't seem displeased AT ALL. The falafel to go.. .. cucumbers were still crisp, seasoning was ON POINT and that tzatziki sauce; let me tell you, I've eaten in Greece. That was like a flash back to it. 5 stars and beyond. ADDITIONAL +1: SCOTCH EGGS: Out of the 10+ Scotch eggs I've had, these rank the highest. good job.

Jordan S.

Yelp
I think this is my favorite restaurant in Port Townsend. The smoked salmon chowder alone is worth the trip over. The menu is really unique and has a ton of different options, from classic pub food, to Indian flavors, Mediterranean inspired dishes, to classic Pacific Northwest seafood. Apparently the chef has traveled the world and trained in some great restaurants - which explains the menu and the incredible food. I want to come back and try everything on the menu now. The service was really friendly here too, and the ambiance is cozy and casual.

Frankie K.

Yelp
I ordered the pulled pork sliders and mac and cheese. The sliders were absolutely delicious! Great flavor! The mac and cheese I think was beachers, it was decent. Needed some pepper. Overall once the mac cooled down it was pretty good. Definitely order the mac and cheese with something else it's a good side dish.

Chris M.

Yelp
Small, busy restaurant on the main street, with an equally small uncovered, enclosed patio out back that appeared to be dog friendly. Things were a bit chaotic but service was nevertheless excellent and great customer service. Nice menu, decently priced and good size portions. You take a menu, grab a table (if you can find one), figure out what you want and then go to the order counter. They bring your food to the table. Tried the flatbread, chicken chorizo pastie and scotch eggs. Everything was high quality, flavorful and delicious.

LLance K.

Yelp
Beware. Menu prices do not match what they actually charge you. Went yesterday with a group and noticed a charge that didn't match what was on their menu. The server said that there was nothing they could do about it.

R. C.

Yelp
A spot we frequent for dinner when in the area. Decided to try them for breakfast. Nothing but impressed! We will be back, for sure. Didn't get a picture of it, but breakfast comes with fresh fruit and small pastries. Just enough to hold you over while food is prepared. The English Breakfast was great and the Waffle was also great. Give them a try for breakfast

Chuckles S.

Yelp
Great spot. Friendly greeting when entered with offering of specials. Decor was casual and comfortable. Combination of the Smoked Salmon Chowder with Apple Salad was fantastic. The richness of the chowder paired well with the sweet/tart flavors of the salad. The crab cakes were light and filled with some veggies which are different from my Carolina style. I liked how light and rich they were. Only suggestion is to invest a bit in the outdoor dining space. Basically picnic tables with a view of the garbage cans. Would definitely recommend. All food we saw looked delicious with a mix of pub food with some nice entrees. Beer selection modest but covered the basics well.

Sarah M.

Yelp
Quick bite, very popular spot on the main drag next to the water. We had the traditional pasty (teddy) to go (took 15 min) and it was just OK. Tough meet and under seasoned.

Paul V.

Yelp
Outstanding English fare breakfast with plenty of vegan and gluten free options. An English pub ambiance with Premier League scarfs about along with soccer on the TV. Fits in nicely with the Port Townsend waterfront and Victorian vibe. Staff was attentive and friendly. Will have to come later in the day to try a pint of their local brews

Cassie F.

Yelp
Great Pasty's! And what a variety, anything you can imagine in a falky, buttery crust. They were fresh and hot and delicious.

Julie F.

Yelp
DROP EVERYTHING GET HERE ORDER MAC N CHEESE DO IT NOW! We stopped in today for lunch after having heard good things. We weren't disappointed. We ordered the mac n cheese with added mushrooms and onions and the vegan "crab" cake burger. Both were excellent! The service was great as well. It's no secret that the cost of going out for a meal has risen, so we like to make those dollars count. This was well worth the money and time. This is a great, little, casual spot for a really good meal. We'll definitely be back as the menu is diverse, and there are quite a few other dishes we'd like to try!

Wade N.

Yelp
Wow, just wow! It's easy to see why they win accolades for the restaurant. We both had the Monday Special Mac and Cheese. Delicious! Debi had pulled pork man and loved it. I tasted it and it was great. She disagrees with me but my Buffalo Chicken Mac was by far the best. In all honesty probably the best Mac we've had. We are looking forward to trying other menu choices. It all looks great. Super friendly staff and they effectively turn tables quickly to accommodate the crowds. Great place.

Scott H.

Yelp
Great little spot! Had the smoked salmon chowder and the meatloaf burger. My friend had the reuben pasty. Everything was delicious, especially washed down with a beer on tap. Was visiting for the day, otherwise would have been back to try breakfast. The restaurant is popular, but tables turn over quickly and weather permitting there's seating outside in the back. Highly recommended

Cheyenne F.

Yelp
SO GOOD! The variety on the menu is amazing. Not pictured is the best Mac n cheese ever. The space is quant and busy, with fast service too. they even had coloring books and high chairs for the kids. The dressing on the salad was delish and the sauce for the crab cakes was excellent. Many veg and vegan options on the menu too. I am excited to go back!

Jessica W.

Yelp
Yum! First time trying and definitely will be back. Spent a month in Australia and have been missing meat pies ever since. Thank you for the great food and patient and kind service!

Lauren A.

Yelp
The mene at Tommyknocker's looked interesting so we decided to try it, and I'm so glad we did. It was a Saturday and they were very busy. I had the Chicken and Ricotta, it was fantastic, although I could have used another tin of marinara sauce. My friend had the Crab Mac and Cheese, which was delicious, I was dipping my breading in it. I almost ordered the Spaghetti, and after I saw that dish on the table next to us I'm trying it next time for sure. Our food came out very fast considering how busy they were, and it was served hot, the Mac And Cheese was literally boiling over. We will return for sure, a great meal and good prices.

Sylvia B.

Yelp
Wow! Vegan mac n cheese with pulled pork for me, the crab Mac for my son, the plain Mac for hubby and the vegan vindaloo pastie for my daughter. All items were incredible! Too bad we have a 2 hour flight, hour ferry ride and an hour drive to come back, but it would be well worth it! Hats off! That was delicious!

Kristin K.

Yelp
Food was good. Many vegan options but all delicious but not necessarily healthy. We enjoyed a crab sandwich and vegan shepherd's pie. Did not like that you go up to the counter to order and there are no refills on Arnold Palmer. Seems a bit overpriced for order at the counter food. Appreciate that they have such an extensive menu of vegan options. Daughter enjoyed her vegan flat bread pizza. Will return. Wish the vegan shepherds pie had some sort of side on the plate. It had almost as much bread as filling.

William M.

Yelp
Great little spot. The staff is very friendly and polite. The decor is eclectic, which I love. Food is very good. Whether it's traditional Cornish or not, I canna say. But to this American, it was perfect. My bride had a chicken and chorizo pasty...I went with seafood chowder and crab Mac. . Price is perhaps a tad high, but I'm a cheap s.o.b.

Robin M.

Yelp
Tommyknocker's makes the most delicious Lamb & Mint Pasties! They were one of the few things my mother would eat in the last few months of her life! I bought her a gift certificate and the restaurant made it easy. I am in California, but all it took was a phone call and a credit card. Then every time she placed an order they deducted it from the amount I had specified. I don't see it on the current menu, but, when we visited Port Townsend, my daughter had a baked potato (take away) from Tommyknocker's that she said was the best she'd ever had. Thank you, Tommyknocker's for brightening my mother's last few months.

Alison W.

Yelp
I'd been to London and have had English food before but this was my first experience with pasties. Pasties are like hand pies or calzones. You can put lots of different ingredients and combinations inside. They have a few tables in the back, which we enjoyed since we had our pup with us. We were able to walk around (there's an alley) and settle down while perusing the menu. We had an idea of what we wanted but when we went back inside to order at the counter, they were out of a few of the pasties. Luckily, as we were paying, one of the chefs said they just made a batch of the bangers and mash version so we got a few - one to enjoy there and a couple to go, for tomorrow. In addition, we got the crab cakes, scotch egg, and the salmon chowder. Food took a bit to come out. I think it felt extra long because we were also pretty hungry as well. Anyways I would say the standout was the pasty. I would want to try some of the other combos, next time I come here like their lamb or chicken. The pastry on the outside was flaky and yummy. It was filled with like a whole sausage and chunks of mashed potatoes. And it's decent size too - enough to fill up a person. I would say it's about half the size of a dinner plate. Their version of the scotch egg was unique to me. They cut it in quarters and then drizzled like a mustard-y sauce over it. I liked it but I think it could be a little crispier on the outside. Crab cakes and chowder was pretty standard and solid as well. We enjoyed the two pasties the nect day and while our hotel only had a microwave, it wasn't too bad. It would've been better in an oven, of course. But still really good as leftovers.

Emma D.

Yelp
Came here in the evening (just had rolled into town to camp at the harbor) and chose this spot because of the high ratings and interesting menu. There was a major rush at 7-7:15ish probably due to a parade just ending around then. You order at the counter and a very nice woman was running food out to the tables. I got the vegan crab cake and it was great! The sandwiches come with coleslaw but no chips or fries which I realized too late (should have read the menu better). The whole staff was super nice. Great vibes. There's a small outdoor space in the back and tables out front, along with seating inside. Definitely hit up this spot when you are in town!

Paige N.

Yelp
This place is soo delicious! Cheese literally overflowing off the table. I'll be back to try it. We had the Apple salad, bangers and mash pastie and stotch eggs after backpacking in the Olympics and it was decadent, just perfect. I haven't had a stotch egg since Dublin over a decade ago and it was just like the one I had there, even better.

Shaun G.

Yelp
Went here for lunch. Had a bowl of the skipper's smoked salmon chowder. Good sized pieces of salmon in the chowder, potatoes, and carrots. There are other ingredients in it but those stood out. It was good for a light lunch. There are a lot of vegan options at this place including a couple of their popular pasties. Including a vegan shepherds pie that has a "meat" made of cauliflower, walnuts, and mushrooms. Some of the more popular dishes are the stuffed portabella, Mac n cheese, and the traditional steak pastie. They are closed on Tuesday and have outdoor seating.

Sara V.

Yelp
Great stop, we shared a cup of chowder, half apple walnut salad and the lamb and mint pasty - it was quite a lot of food. The salad was fresh and delicious The pasty was hot, flaky and soft, very flavorful, rather salty. The chowder was great, a bit lighter than some chowders, full of assorted chopped veg and some smoked salmon Service is fast, its sort of close quarters making it a bit loud for conversation, but it's a fun casual, communal atmosphere.

Janell O.

Yelp
What a fun place with a great atmosphere and tasty food! We stopped here for lunch on 9/15 after a delightful morning walking around Port Townsend. I had the apple, cranberry, gorgonzola salad 1/2 portion which was HUGE - I cannot believe that what I got was actually only half but if it was you better have a giant appetite to eat a whole one! My husband had the salmon chowder - super yummy on a cool fall day - and the pulled pork sliders - an ideal item to split between two people. There was plentiful seating indoors and out and the place is pooch friendly!

Jonna B.

Yelp
love the menu, so many great choices to choose from and a very easy location to access

Sophie P.

Yelp
This restaurant is warm and friendly! Excellent tasty food the lamb and mint pie so good!

Whitney T.

Yelp
YUM! When visiting PT with our dogs over the weekend, we stopped at Tommyknocker's to eat on the back patio (there are also tables out front for dog-friendly outdoor dining). I ordered the vegan "crab cake" burger and my partner got the scotch egg and a chicken pasty. We loved everything. I eat a pescatarian diet, and love real crab, but decided to try one the vegan options from the menu and I am so glad I did. This VEGAN "crab" cake was sooooo good. The delicious food made this restaurant our fave dining experience of the weekend.

Patrick S.

Yelp
Mixed feelings about this place. The food was good, just maybe not value for the money? Service could be better, this is fast casual, order at the counter and they bring the food out to you. Go back to the counter if you need anything, they won't come by to check on you. My partner and I split a Scotch Egg appetizer, and a Traditional Steak Pasty. Food was artfully made, all homemade and pretty tasty. However, we left still hungry and we were in for over $30 at this point with tax and tip. The egg was $10, and the pasty was $15. Won't be returning to this place. There are better options in PT. Seek them out.

Ronnie T.

Yelp
Great meat pasty although the traditional Cornish does not have the brown sauce but it is a great addition Great ingredients and passed the English test

Chris M.

Yelp
We shared the Monday Mac and Cheese with BBQ special and it was plenty for 2 people. Never had such good Mac and Cheese!!!! We will go back and try something else. Great friendly service. It's a happy place.

Lillie A.

Yelp
Very cozy and inviting. Walked in and the place smelt great. Lots of options if you do not eat meat. The Mac and cheese was to die for, I will never not get it if I'm in the area. The crab burger was super good but a bit messy. I ate my crab burger with a fork mostly. The people working were nice. 10/10

Rosie B.

Yelp
Friendly service and tasty food! We came in and ordered the bangers & mash pasty, the vegan vindaloo pasty, and the Irish pulled pork sliders. We'd recommend all of them, and the pasty's are much bigger than expected!

Dee B.

Yelp
Fabulous beef Pasty. Clean and bright dining. Staff are great. Will be back. You won't leave hungry.

Andrew P.

Yelp
Tommyknocker's is a almost like a pub with Mac & Cheese... but the food is great. With Vegan on the glass outside, we knew right from the start that the owners care what they put into their customers. The tables cater to crowds less than four so plan out your dinner off-hours if you have a large group. Service is fast so there's a lot of turnover and chance to get something adjoining. Park a few blocks away to cut down on traffic and enjoy the window shopping but don't forget to hit up Tommyknocker's.

Chris M.

Yelp
Food is delicious. We ordered scotch eggs, crab Mac cheese and salmon chowder. Everything was great. Service was good too. Will definitely go there again.

Dayv M.

Yelp
For starters I was not considering the Mac and Cheese until I noticed a few orders going by my and I was certainly not disappointed after changing my order. While it was enough for two I ate the entire thing and it was well worth the price I paid for that too full of a belly.
