Had dinner with 2 of my friends at Tommy BBQ recently, and it was a hit! The beef ribs were tender and packed with flavor, and the garlic fries were an absolute must-try. Our waitress was fantastic—friendly, attentive, and added to the great experience. Highly recommended for anyone craving solid BBQ with top-notch service.

Tommy’s BBQ is an absolute gem! We had the beef ribs, and they were divine—tender, flavorful, and everything you could want in BBQ. The coleslaw was amazing, the perfect balance of creamy and fresh. And the cheesecake? Simply the best way to end the meal! The whole experience gave us that old TBQ vibe we’ve been missing. Our waitress, Rose, was incredible—friendly, attentive, and made us feel right at home. We just loved her! Can’t wait to come back for more. Highly recommend!

If you're from Windsor and enjoyed Tunnel BBQ (TBQ) when it was downtown, this place will bring back memories. They have all the old favorites from the Tunnel BBQ menu and several new items, such as pasta and steaks. The ribs are just as good as they were before. And, of course, the desserts are outstanding., My favorite is the Black Forest tort. If you don't remember the TBQ, this would be a good place to try if you enjoy baked ribs and great food

We shared a rib & chicken combo for 2 and the portion size was excellent, the ribs were lean & very meaty (delicious). The chicken seemed dry as if it had been re-heated. Overheard another waitress say that there would be an hour wait on chicken or ribs which we found odd during the supper hour. There was no drink menu (weird) and the menu itself seemed plain and dated. Especially the appetizers. The waitress was not overly hospitable. Ordered dessert and wasn't even asked if we wanted coffee - - - odd! The cheesecake was amazing! Would I come here again? Maybe.

We went to Tommy's for the first time today to celebrate father's day. The inside was clean and tidy and seems well maintained. We ordered Chicken and ribs, the ribs were very meaty and delicious. However, the chicken was a bit dry, almost like it was chicken left over from the day before. Overall though we were very happy with the food including our desserts. The wait staff is a different story though, almost all of the wait staff seemed like they were near the end of their career and very miserable and just no personality at all. No small talk, no upsetting on desserts, or coffee, no recommendations even after we told them this was our first time visiting the restaurant. They definitely need younger, friendlier wait staff who strive to make sure people walk out having the best dining experience possible. If this wasn't bad enough, before I decided to write this review, I decided to read through past reviews and notice that the owners dont bother replying to any review given, which shows that they have 0% interest in what their customers think or feel. I don't know whether we will visit again. We may give them another shot and see if the service is any better for our next dinner out.

I kept telling myself to try Tommy’s and my wife and I finally did yesterday and holy cow am I glad I did. I got the rib/chicken meal with mashed potatoes. The food was amazing. Meat was cooked to perfection. Sauces tasted terrific. My wife got a clubhouse meal. Thick sandwich which she loved as well. The food portion and price were all on point. I’ll definitely be returning and wanted to share my positive experience. Great place to eat!

Google
Food portions are HUGE! The schnitzel dinner for $25 caught my eye as it said "huge" portion and I was skeptical at first. Coleslaw, cornbread, and beans was delicious. The beef ribs was very tender. The regular pork ribs and chicken needed some sauce for additional flavor, but it was decent. Great service for a group of 5. Went around 7pm for dinner and the place had ample room for a Friday night. Dessert was delicious and a bonus! Our server gave us an extra serving of cheesecake at no additional cost as my sister said she wanted to share mine, instead she got her own!

Google
The coleslaw is exactly the same deliciousness as the Tunnel BBQ that I remember!! We got the ribs (pork), chicken and kebabs (good but a bit dry). Can’t wait to go back!!

Yelp
Stopped in with some friends and had such a great time. The BBQ hit all the right notes--flavorful, smoky, and cooked just right. Everything we tried had that classic comfort-food feel, with a little extra something that made it stand out. The atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming, which made it easy to settle in and enjoy. Definitely a spot I'll be coming back to next time I'm in town.

Yelp
Stopped in last night for dinner with the family. This is our first visit to Tommy's but we were long time fans of Tunnel BBQ. It qasnt very crowded and were seated promply. We had the ribs, chicken, French onion soup and cheesecake for dessert. Everything taste how we remembered the ole TBQ resturant. Angelo provided great service and kept our drinks filled. Looking forward to our next visit.

Yelp
I saw this place last time I was in town and thought to myself that someone was trying to benefit from the closeness of their new resto's name vs the old TBQ name. Did not know that Tommy is from the TBQ family until I walked in and saw the familiar portraits and newspaper clippings from the old place. Everything is the way I remember it -- the delicious ribs and chicken, the sauces (but I don't recall that third molasses one maybe it's new) the cakes the great service and great value. I could go on and on but it's simply TBQ all over again. For those in the know enough said. For those who don't know well you don't know what you've been missing. Damn they say you can't go home again. But thanks to tommy you can get pretty close.

Yelp
We haven't been to Windsor for quite some time and have good memories of Tunnel BBQ and heard this was basically Tunnel in a new location. Well, it didn't disappoint. Bbq was good, portions were generous, the bbq sauces were tasty and the desserts were to die for. I thought it was a little pricey, but the exchange rate made it about what I would expect to pay for bbq. Staff was a delight.

Yelp
Taking family (6) out for dinner and heard TBQ had been returned via this family member and reopened at the Roundhouse Centre. Let me state, this is nowhere close to the Ribs served by Chris at TBQ Park St. Not even close. It's in the old Outback Restaurant building and they did not change a thing when the moved in and it's not a pleasant spot to dine. Chris at TBQ on Park St served a dry, spare rib, delicious ribs. These are meaty, grisly, fatty babyback ribs. We came home with two uneaten dinners because they just weren't good. Too expensive $$$ to be serving mediocre ribs. So disappointed, out $300+ and never going back. It's not TBQ!

Yelp
Went to Tommy's BBQ for a lovely birthday dinner. NEVER AGAIN. The waitress had so much attitude and was so snippy. My pulled pork sandwich had no meat on it, honestly just felt like mush. The waitress had accidentally added someone else's drink on my bill, and when I brought it up she said she had already noticed when she didn't see it on that persons bill as they were paying, THEN instead of fixing it or just taking it off the bill since it was her mistake the she had ALREDY SEEN she says "well your family will pay you the money". Never again am I going to that over priced restruant full of disrespectful employees. If you want bbq I highly suggest to STAY AWAY from Tommy's.

Yelp
This was my second time ordering from Tommy's, this time I wanted something different. I ordered a Reuben on Rye sandwich. It also came with some coleslaw, a pickle and Russian dressing on the side. I substituted the fries for green beans. It did not disappoint and there was a good amount of shaved corned beef in the sandwich. I would definitely order this again!

Yelp
We were very pleasantly surprised when we returned to Windsor to find Tommy's. Nothing will replace the Tunnel Barbecue of old, but the family has done a great job of providing many of the same great TBQ favorites. We always make sure to stop in for a great meal when we come hoe.

Yelp
Where do I start? #1 my faith has been restored Thank you Tommy..this is hands down BBQ central! Just found out about this restaurant..We were huge fans of the family owned Tunnel BBQ- open for 75 years. The former restaurant was located just on the other side of the tunnel from Detroit to Windsor, Canada. Super nostalgic, The wooden booths, memorabilia, 8 x10's of celebs who have dined are now at Tommy's. We celebrated 20 our year wedding anniversary yesterday at Tommy's for dinner. Outstanding BBQ, Slaw and crinkle cut fries. Service was excellent too. No room for dessert. So excited..will be returning sooner than later.

Yelp
We got sandwiches - chicken barby very good. Steak sandwich had about a 6 oz steak, onion rings , tomato and mushrooms. Eating it was a mouthful - so I might ask for it in it's components next time. I got the middleastern meatballs (don't remember what it is called). They were a bit tough, but flavor nice. All of us got poutine and coleslaw - vinegar, not mayo based. Very good and crunchy. Too full for dessert. The waitress was extremely nice - but it's Canada!

Yelp
Second time there Ribs were excellent service was excellent decor was just like Tunnel Barbecue.

Yelp
I was so disappointed when Tunnel BBQ closed so I was happy to hear that Tommy's Bar-B-Q opened, and tasted just like the original. My boyfriend and I took my parents here and ordered the Rack for Two. It was even better than TBQ. The ribs were meaty, the fries were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. We were so full by the end we didn't end up getting dessert, but I'll be coming back to get some pie! The service was really friendly as well. Can't wait to come back when I'm in Windsor.

Yelp
This was a nice little surprise! I guess being across the river from Detroit and in a pretty diverse city I shouldn't be surprised there is a bbq joint with a little ethnic twist to it. I did the pulled pork since most of the mixed meat plates were both pricy and had a lot of food for one person, two made more sense but not the case. The meal came with slaw which was really good, vinegar based which I liked and void of mayo which was even better. The pulled pork was very good, tender and well seasoned. As a big plus I will say they have some great sauces on the tables. A sweet, mild and Spicy and all of them are much like their slaw with a vinegar base and in this case not sweet and filled with ketchup and definitely Home made. This is a find sort of a place and I think next time I'll save room for desserts since those were all homemade as well! KT

Yelp
The moment my Wife and I walked in the Restaurant we were greeted with a warm welcome and brought over to our table we ordered our beverages then the waitress went over the specials with us we ended up getting the 2 ribs each with fries coleslaw and green beans marinated in butter and garlic it was so delicious and the service was excellent the restaurant is similar to Tunnel BBQ but tastes of beef ribs was even better and thicker it is worth going you get your moneys worth and more.

Yelp
I was saddened when Tunnel BBQ closed. Ribs were great, cole slaw was excellent and the desserts were outstanding. Rest assured - IT'S BACK! I had heard rumors the last owner of Tunnel has brought back the restaurant a little deeper into Windsor. The place is small, they do take reservations so either get there early or call ahead. The menu is skimmed down, but the ribs didn't disappoint. Same taste, same sauces. And my favorite - the same cole slaw! I asked the waitress what the story was, and apparently the original family owns the name Tunnel BBQ BUT the previous owner owns this place with the same recipes from When they closed. It may not be the original Tunnel but the food is the same just a smaller menu. I'll be back!
google avatar

Yelp
Tommy's has brought the famous Tunnel Bar-B-Q back! The ribs were the way we used TI enjoy them. It's a unique flavor to enjoy. The deserts are outstanding as always (the Black Forest had always been my favorite).

Robbie B.

Yelp
Prompt service, friendly server, great food, prices are reasonable . That is all I have to say!

Yelp
Excellent food and excellent service! Flashbacks to Tunnel BBQ. I'd recognize that coleslaw, ribs, and molasses bbq sauce anywhere! So glad my husband stumbled upon this online. It was worth the trip over the border from Detroit. Special shout-out to our server, Samantha. We appreciated the great service you provided. They have more dessert options than anyplace I've ever been. Our desserts were both delicious: banana cream pie and hot fudge puff. We'll be back!

The second coming of The Tunnel Bbq. Great food and the service was great. Highly recommend.

Yelp
I landed in Windsor around 8:30pm. By the time I got my rental it was about 8:45. The website said that they close at 10pm but I thought better safe than sorry, maybe I should call to confirm they are open. The lady answers and I tell her I'm thinking of heading down and would they be open? There is a pause and I clarify that I was about 20 minutes away. She says that she doesn't know and asks me the time. I tell her it's 8:45pm. She says that they will be open and so I chart a path from the airport to Tommy's excited to have some BBQ. When I get there the door is locked but there are employees inside. I shake the door a bit in hopes that someone has the balls to come over and tell me they are closed. Not a single person even looks at me. I make my way back to the car and hit redial. A guy answers the phone. I told him my story and he replies, sorry we closed early. I am dumbfounded at how cautious I was, and of how oblivious they are about what just happened. I rebutted that I called to avoid this very situation. Please understand that didn't swear, I didn't yell, but I was obviously upset. He simply just hung up on me or put me on hold or something. I waited for several minutes listening to what seemed to be a hold beep but it was clear I had been abandoned. What can I do? Share my experience with the world and hope they do better for the next guy.

Yelp
Very good ribs and chicken...service was rushed as they were near closing but still good service. Had the French onion soup which was good. Coleslaw was delicious. Would return again.

Yelp
Without question the tradition continues with the same excellence from North America's first family of BBQ..With a lot of hard work and perseverance Tommy has created a true gem..So spectacular be sure to keep it to yourself!! Truly the best barbecue, amazing desserts and fine service..Nothing short of terrific..There isn't better anywhere!! Thanx Tomas

Yelp
Ribs better than I remember! I have missed TBQ... Hot Fudge Cream Puff!!!! Are you kidding me - amazing? The atmosphere is different and so are some of the faces... But we still felt like we were coming home! Going to take some time to find their groove but everyone was friendly and went out of their way to provide a fabulous experience! Thanks Tommy and family ... See you again (and again) soon.

Yelp
This food is a religious experience... a real food-gasm. So delicious and awesome that I still can't believe its in Windsor Ontario.

Yelp
No complaints, everything was good. Got the ribs and fries. Only thing is there's no parking like all Erie street places so you will have to park a bit aways if Erie is busy

Marcella B.

Yelp
We were there Wednesday July 27 around 4:30 with friends from Dearborn Mich. The ribs were tough like leather, the end ribs were dried out ,My opinion is were given left over ribs from lunch & they (Tasted) like reheated ribs. .Very disappointed Marcella B.

Dave H.

Yelp
Waitress very attentive and friendly. Ribs were meaty but dry. I get the feeling that they were cooked hours before serving and kept warm. Very disappointed and we will not be back.

Elaine G.

Yelp
We were really impressed with our server. She was very pleasant and efficient. She checked on us many times during our visit. We all ordered the rib dinner. I should say we loved the Tunnel BBQ and we were really disappointed when it closed. So, we tried Tommy's. Fries, coleslaw were excellent. Where are the yummy crackers, bread sticks and buns? All of the sauces were very good. But we went for the ribs!! We were really disappointed. They seemed dry and lacked flavour, this really took us by surprise.

Yelp
Sat down to a table with 2 dirty forks that should have been a sign there but no I figured we still give it a shot so we had the ribs (fatty and tough )and fries we were told by friends that ate previously we're crinkle cut so I ask about them I was told they were out and had to order them and of course order was on it way lol pop was flat ... then dessert .... black forest cake was good ... ice cream puff was liked ... banana split was crap melted and no presentation to it at all had to send it back three times due to waitress not writing down what was asked then when brought back final time it was tossed on table in front of me from that point forward I was scared not to like anything so I answered yes we we're good ... to be fair I know they have only been open for 2 weeks and I knew that coming into the place also the history of the good (what I thought old school tunnel bar b q vibe and food) but this was unacceptable. ... so we go finish our day we come back 6hours later cause we wanted to surprise my mom with her favorite dessert the Eclair! ! And she spotted it there so against our better judgment we went to go get few for her and my kids ..... so we get it to our place which is literally few blocks away and take a bite and and it was the worst awful soggy stale ECLAIR EVER! not to mention we already dropped mom's care package off only to find this and had to call her and let her know so they we're brought back to be told "it must be the paper he uses on the trays for the desserts " lol no taste like the cream had days ago made the bread soggy and the bread stale ...... not impressed at all waste of 90 bucks and would not go back unless this is rectified and the wait staff gets on it game a Lil more

Yelp
Went for dinner last night and was super excited to try the new and "resurrected" TBQ restaurant on Erie Street. The place is REALLY small and crammed. It's loud in there so having a conversation is a bit difficult. The menu was really small and didn't offer some of the items I was looking for (baby back ribs) which bummed me out big time. Although the ribs were good, our service was not and I was really unimpressed by the way we were treated, especially after seeing how friendly some of the other staff members were with their guests. We were never offered refills of our drinks or coffee and I was charged extra (without my knowledge) to switch the side fries for a vegetable. The waitress printed our bills without even asking if we were done and then stopped coming to the table after we paid even though we stayed for another hour afterwards. I'll mourn the loss of TBQ's Baby Back Ribs and won't go back here again.

Review O.

Yelp
Place is very small and uncomfortable. Waitresses were seemed extremely unprepared and novice. French onion soup tasted like an instant mix, probably the worst i've ever tasted. Ribs were pretty mediocre, nothing that I couldn't easily do at home. Lots of gristle. blah.

Tonie L.

Yelp
Tommys bbq. Wow! When I heard tommy(son of Chris and Val who partially owned and ran tunnel bbq for many years)was opening I was excited to try it. We ordered the strip of ribs for two with fries and coleslaw and coconut cream pie for dessert. I was a fan of tunnel bbq. The ribs were always juicy and hot. You could count on the ribs always being the same. Desserts as well. The staff were pleasant.at Tommys.we got our food in a timely manner and went home in anticipation. Disappointed in the ribs. They were cold chewy and tough. The spice was great.the crinkle fries were crispy and coleslaw was perfect. The coconut cream pie was creamy and melted in your mouth so much that your tastebuds would explode. So all in all great except for the ribs Next visit we just ordered coconut cream pie. Same experience as our previous order. Sooooo Tommys was our go to for pie. Much to our disappointment upon returning home from a long work day we ordered our usual. We even added a few eclair's to this order. We got home I left to watch my grandchildren. Later that evening when I got home I went to enjoy my dessert and it was banana cream pie instead of coconut cream pie. Ughh! The bananas were brown. The cream was sticky and the eclair was stale. In the morning my husband told me he had the same experience.he went to Tommys after work to let them know and the waitress said she was sorry she did mix the order up and offered to pay for it out of her own pocket. The manager said "no way you r not doing that" and questioned my husband to the point of embarrassment. Then she asked him for his name and number and she would call him later regarding this matter. First I would like to point out that the mistake was proven. The manager did not know my husband's name until she ended the conversation.he has a deep voice and she accused him of yelling. The manager escalated the situation and nothing was resolved. Sooooo blacks bakery is our new go to place for dessert. It's unfortunate how you can lose ones business. All over a piece of pie.

Yelp
Very disappointing. My husband and I lived in Windsor for 4 years and ate at the original Tunnel BBQ dozens of times. We were very sad to hear that it was shutting down. I was recently in Windsor with my family and we decided to try out Tommy's because we had heard good things but I must say this restaurant was a far cry from what Tunnel used to be. We barely saw our server. The menu isn't even half of what it used to be (no broasted chicken etc.) They were out of pulled pork when we got there which is all I wanted. The ribs were tough and flavourless. Our server gave us buns with no butter. There were no chicken fingers on the menu however when we left we saw a table and a young guest clearly had chicken fingers. My brother's glass was dirty as he kept pulling hairs out of it. The only dishes that were as good as they used to be were the desserts. I hate to write a bad review of a restaurant that I used to love but if you are expecting to have that old TBQ experience just go somewhere else for dinner.
