I'm sad to have to do this, as Tommy's is somewhere I've been going to for years, but last night's experience was so disappointing, that i don't want to go back anymore.
I have literally NEVER had anything from Tommy's that I left most of, but I did last night. Normally I leave some fries as I'm too full to eat more. Last night, i left over half the meal, because it was awful.
I ordered a Philly Cheese Steak, with Cajun Fries. When it came, the fries were almost cold, and the seasoning was erratic - some had been seasoned, some had no seasoning at all. The sandwich however, was hotter than the surface of the sun, and i couldn't eat it. When something is THAT hot, I can tell that it's been microwaved, an opinion that was confirmed by how tough and chewy the bread was. This was not a fresh piece of bread, it had definitely been microwaved, (i know this from microwaving bread rolls at home, how they get if you go a few seconds over) and judging by the internal temperature of the filling, i think the entire thing was microwaved. Because the bread was so tough and chewy, the filling just squished right out of it when i attempted to take a bite. My husband ordered the Hot Chef Salad, which normally comes with 2 pots of salad dressing, he specified at the counter, that he wanted Ranch. His salad came without any dressing, and when he asked one of the girls who were walking around, she seemed surprised, and brought him 1 of the small pots of Ranch. We have, between us, had this salad dozens of times - IT HAS ALWAYS COME WITH 2 POTS OF DRESSING because it's a big salad.
The price of food here is not cheap, and i don't appreciate disappointing food on date night, so i doubt I'll return. Whether they were having an off day, or training a new chef, i can't say, i wasn't made privy to such information. The lady at the counter staff was as good as always though.
