Tommy's Hamburger Grill & Patio

I was in the area and was craving a burger. It was a little busy at the time but of course I don’t mind and I have plenty of patience. The waiter was super friendly and was shocked that I didn’t want fries or tots. I ordered the slim cheese burger. Let me say this, this burger was AMAZING I loved it so much. One of the best burgers I’ve had in a very long time. I’m absolutely coming back for more. I regret not getting tots but I wasn’t too hungry at the time.

I work at TCU and there are so many different restaurants to eat at. But I love Tommy's Nolan Ryan beef burgers. The service is always great. Keep on being awesome and Go TCU Frogs

I just wanted to shout Brandy out, we sat in a section unknown to my family and I was closed, after she came in and said it was closed i explained we chose the spot due to our son being recently diagnosed w/cancer so we sat away from others, without hesitation she told us to sit down and enjoy our time there, so we deeply appreciate her and the kindness she had towards us, made our visit even better with already going through so much, we since have went back again and had a great experience! This will forever be one of our go to spots. 🫶🏽

Good place to get burgers that taste fresh and are satisfying. The fried zucchini was amazing. Our fried pickles came out over done and chewy but the waitress happily replaced them when we asked and the next batch was better. Friendly atmosphere and family friendly.

First time customer with a group of 9. Sunday afternoon casual lunch after church fellowship. We went to the location on Forest Park Blvd. We were very well served and all enjoyed their selections. Pricing was reasonable and service was excellent. I got the Ruben, with "Frog Fries" (Crispy french fries covered in melted cheese with grilled onions and jalapenos.) Sever others got hamburgers, and one got the fried fish platter,reporting that it was very good. Overall a great mid-afternoon casual dining experience. It might be busier at other times, but our visit was great.

My Daughter took me here for the first time, being this is her favorite hamburger spot. Bec was amazing!! She was very attentive and made us feel as if we were the only ones there, when in fact they were getting very busy! The food was delicious! Fresh and hot!! Best burger I've had in a very long time!!!! Will definitely be back.

Visited for burger week. Had the Thai Tommy burger and a Rahr Texas light. Really good. Kimchi not too spicy. Wonderful staff. AND you get a cute beer glass. A winner! I may have to go back because I want a second glass..

Burgers are always great, Onion rings and ranch on point. But the place has definitely aged and needs a deep clean and a paint refresh as well as a couple of new chairs. Otherwise it's pretty good!

Today, I went to lunch at Tommy's near the TCU campus. This little gem is nestled in a shopping center which is almost unexpected as it's all business around it. However, when you walk in you know you discovered something great. The staff is very friendly, greeted us right away and let us choose our table. Our server came and got our drink order and then returned to take our food order. We had frog fries as a starter and they were amazing! They were is delicious and full of flavor. I had the mushroom Swiss burger, which was really good. I did ask for it come without pickles, yet it still had some but they were easy to take out. The Star of the burger, however, was the meat itself. It was thick and juicy but not messy- which I like! All in all it was very good. This is such and cool and chill place, definitely great for a quick lunch or dinner with good quality and price!

Tommy's is great. The burgers are amazing, they make their own veggie patties (and they don't fall apart!). The service is always phenomenal. And they're great for groups. Love that place.

BACON CHEESE BURGER! Delicious! Fries complement the burger beautifully. Our waitress was phenomenal, soon as we walked in she attended us. This is the perfect place if you are attending TCU, a local , or passing thru you will NOT be disappointed. The interior is so laid back, you will eat your burger in a laid back ambiance. Check Tommy's out today. Tell em we sent you.

We walked right in and found a table, the restaurant has a bar top as well as several tables. There was plenty of seating for a late dinner stop, our waitress was friendly and took our order quickly. The food came out hot and it was delicious! I like that they have an option for a smaller burger and it comes with fries. I clearly upgraded mine to onion rings, which was a great choice. We will definitely come back!

We tried Tommy's Hamburgers for the very first time and absolutely LOVED the food and time spent there! We ordered the Mini Hamburgers, Onion Rings, and Catfish Basket...absolutely delicious. When sitting at Tommy's I felt transported to a different era, the food was incredible, well cooked, and the energy of the space was so inviting, homey, and reminded me of simpler times in the best way. Our server, Greg, was friendly, kind, gave amazing suggestions, and kept us laughing! Truly one of a kind service! Special Note: I'm severely allergic to shellfish and was able to enjoy catfish for the first time in many years, because they do NOT serve shellfish! It was so delicious!

I got the bacon burger with jalapeños. It was the best burger I've had in a long time. The service was also great! 10/10 recommend

Found this neighborhood gem when I was on the hunt to fix my burger crave. The staff is extremely friendly and made sure to greet us as soon as we walked in. This truly gave a neighborhood diner feel, with affordable prices and fast service. The burger I had was delicious and the hand cut fries were so good. If you haven't been yet, definitely try them out!

Happy Trails Seniors, My girl and i went to Tommy's for a burger on a Friday night. One waitress had whole room and she worked her butt off serving but made for slow night. I'd been coming to Tommy's for many years and well it's just not what it used to be. Maybe the cook was off one night. i don't know. i ordered at burger and no bun. My hamburger almost came out as a salad with no dressings, so a long wait ended for the return of the waitress. I'm sure it was just that day off. First time going to this establishment and I must say it was amazing! Unfortunately forgot to take pictures as we are right when we got it we were that hungry! We were greeted right as we entered and sat ourselves. The hostess was attentive and very helpful with navigating the menu and answering questions with the items! We ended up going with a grilled cheese for the little one and my fiancé and I got the junkyard burger for her and the bacon and Brie burger for myself. Food came out hot and fresh! The bacon and Brie burger was phenomenal with the bacon being the perfect contrast to the creamy cheese! The saltiness was on point! The frog fries were great and the ranch was spot on! The fries you can tell are fresh cut and I should have asked if they could have been a bit more crispier to my liking but I digress I had no issues. I took a bite of the junkyard and it had so much going on but was delicious! The place had a feel of an old diner and very local sports teams were decorating the walls. Overall this was amazing and I will definitely be going back!

This place seems like a hole in the wall type of place. When you come in, you seat yourself. The staff here were really nice and the service was fast. The food was not bad, but it was just okay.

A really good cheeseburger, and fresh cut fries. The catfish was lightly battered. The side salad was much larger than one would think.

Great burgers, fantastic fries, even better people! Went for the first time Wednesday with four other guys that appreciate good burgers. Each of us was very happy with our lunch, all burgers. Great service, great food. While Glenda was in the hospital in Fort Worth, I was stuck in a hotel room at night. I went to Tommy's for some to go. Since Tommy's is in a strip mall, it's not really a hole in the wall, but it should be! The food is great! The club sandwich was huge, and the fries looked like a triple order. While I waited, I told the girls behind the bar what Glenda was going through. They were so nice, they gave me free dessert! What sweethearts! The club and fries were wonderful, and I will definitely go back. Plenty of tables, and some tv's for you sports heads. See ya!

What a phenomenal evening my wife and I spent at Tommy's the other evening. Through word of mouth, I ad heard Tommy's Homemade Chicken Salad was incredible. My wife who is VERY picky about her chicken salad reluctantly agreed to give it a try. I already knew what I was getting, the fried catfish dinner. I've never met a catfish I didn't like. Smiles. I've had Tommy's catfish in the past and is was fried to perfection add those home cut fries and you've got a dinner made in heaven. Back to our dinners. My wife did order the chicken salad sandwich and I ordered the fried catfish dinner. When the sandwich, accompanied with fries came, I knew this was going to be "the moment," either I was going to get a smile or some other expression. She gave me a BIG smile. She said it was some of the best chicken salad she's ever had. She did have one suggestion, cut the chicken into smaller chunks. Other than that, there wasn't a morsel left in her basket. And there were no complaints about the catfish either. It was fried to perfection and the homemade tartar sauce was great. Our server checked on us and asked how everything was. We said GREAT! She mentioned that they were out of chicken salad and had made it up fresh for my wife's sandwich. We'll definitely have to return again soon. We had a delightful time.

Tommy's Hamburgers service is slow, but it's worth the wait! Their burgers are not greasy, and the mushrooms are fresh and piping hot. This is the best burger I've ever had, and for sure, it's better than Red Robin's and Burger Street. If it's your first time, the "Junkyard" burger is the go-to.

Came here for lunch on a Thursday about noon. I was greeted with a smile immediately upon entry. She said I could sit anywhere. They have quite a few tables/booths inside, as well as, tables outside in the patio. There were several people at tables once I came inside. I ordered the bacon cheddar burger with fries. The burger was VERY good...it had great flavor and was cooked perfectly. The fries were not as crispy as I like them, but that is a personal preference. Maybe next time I will ask for them to be crispy. Overall, I enjoyed my lunch at Tommy's Hamburgers and I will be back!

Regardless of what I seem to get here I'm just in love. I just seem to really like everything here the sandwiches the fries OMG. I usually get a ham and cheese but today I got the fried catfish po boy and french fries it was perfect the service is nice too definitely suggest .I'm looking forward to trying everything Tommy's hamburgers gets five stars.

Stopped in to this small but fantastic burger place earlier today. We were in the area and hunger struck before noon, so why not? The place is near TCU and has all the trappings one might expect. Helmets, meorabilia, and sorts of TCU ephenora cover the walls as well as what I can only call "burger art". Love it. We got our orders put in very quickly and had a lovely server helping us. She was friendly, attentive, and fun to chat with. Also very efficient as our drinks and food was ordered & prepared quickly and exactly to order. I tried the Bacon Cheddar burger. It was delightful. Burgers are my favorite item and this one didnt disappoint. They use patties made of Nolan Ryan beef, which was juicy, tasty, and perfectly cooked. My kid got a basic cheddar burger and reported enjoying it just as much as I enjoyed mine. Fries were tasty. Cut with the skins left on the potato. I think they call that "homestyle"? I dunno. They were tasty. Next time I'll be trying the onion rings, and there will definitely be a next time. I really enjoyed our trip to Tommy's and will happily return as soon as the opportunity presents itself. And I suggest you try them too if you're in the area. I don't think you'll regret it if you do! Cheers!

Absolutely the best burger I've ever eaten in my life. The meat was hot and the veggies were crispy and cool. the bacon was thick and crunchy. I am telling everyone I know about this place. you will love it too

The burgers were amazing!! We ordered the Junkyard burger and it blew us away. The mushrooms tasted fantastic, the tater-tots were fresh and crispy, and the cheese was not overpowering the burger. It was perfect. Definitely coming back again. We love Tommy's. The service as well was great. The food did not take that long to make! Again.. those burgers were incredible.

Great burger, best I have had in a while. Being a TCU alum I really appreciated the decor. Burger was so fresh, well constructed, fresh ingredients and cooked to perfection. Fried could be better, quite soggy. Service was attentive especially at a busy time of day.

Great burgers at Tommy's been a fan for a while. This was my first visit to this location and the service was very good. The restaurant is set up nice and a great location. Tommy's Hamburgers do have plenty of burger combination to choose from I like the mushroom burger or the bacon burger. Good size half pound meat fresh and hot cook just right. The burger comes with fries or chips. I love the chips or maybe it is the ranch dressing I dip the chips into. Either way the chips are good. This location has a Groupon right now which makes the price very good. And way worth it. Tommy's has plenty of other items to eat but I only had burgers.

Great place. Burgers are delicious. I've tried the Blue Angel Burger and the one with green peppers and goat cheese, both excellent. Service is friendly, even enthusiastic. We'll be back.

My first time here and I'll definitely be back. Food was HOT and fresh. I got the catfish and when I tell you they give you a nice amount, I mean it. Next time I come I'm getting a burger though because they looked good too. Shoutout to Cedric who is one of the cook's in the back. He's amazing!!

I've wanted to stop by this place for 4 years. Parents weekend, mom's weekend, general TCU visits...I finally made it. It did not disappoint. The 2 young ladies working were so kind and efficient. The catfish basket is a MUST! I WILL be back

Friends and I came here on a rainy day. We bought a Groupon that made it a good deal. We walked in and the workers were very friendly. We were the only people there. We got great service and a waiter who was eager to get us anything we needed. I ordered the frog fries and my boyfriend ordered the hickory cheddar burger and his sister got the holy moly burger. I didn't get a chance to try hers but she said it was delicious. The hickory cheddar burger was sweet and savory! I wanted more of it. This place has a relaxed diner feel with really friendly servers. The food comes out hot and the burgers are savory. Plus there are plenty of choices of types of burgers. I did find the frog fries to be too oily, but my friends loved it. Also, it's definitely meant to share! Overall, a decent restaurant to satisfy your burger craving.

Remembered eating here several years ago and figured I'd swing by again. The food and service was as good as the time before. Not sure why this place fell off my radar, but here I am. Definitely recommend for quality food and service. Who needs overpriced Whataburger when Tommy's is cheaper and a hell of a lot better?

I wanted to like this place and have been there before quite awhile back. I quickly remembered why I don't go there. The service is good and it's a comfortable place for a burger but the food is really disappointing. Both my wife and my burgers were over cooked and bland. The fries look good but are undercooked because they only fry them once. To get good fries you have to cook them twice. McDonald's or Burger Street would have been a much more satisfying experience and I'm not much of a McDonald's fan, but they do have great fries.

Love this restaurant. Hamburgers are made with Nolan Ryan meat which is delicious. Service is quick and friendly.

Terrible service, took oven an hour to get our burgers. Another half hour waiting for the check after we asked for it.

Tommy's burger had a very homemade taste to it! I got out of my comfort zone and had the Green Chili Goat Cheese Burger. It was messy, but well worth it. It went along great with sweet potato fries which were plentiful. I'd recommend that if you're going to spend over $9.99 for a burger, might as well get something beyond a normal cheeseburger. Pricing is fair for the fresh ingredients and their service is fast for a quick to-go order.

Overall, good burger. I wish it had a bit more seasoning or grill taste, but I really can't complain and it definitely hit the spot.

My buddy had a groupon so we popped by and picked up our order on a Friday night. Only two tables occupied at this location. I hadn't been to this Tommy's but run by Camp Bowie Tommy's fairly often. As we called ahead, we waited mere minutes. The size is smallish, similar to Camp Bowie store. Welcoming atmosphere and smiling, friendly, and prompt service. Upgraded for $2 extra to get frog fries, another $2 for jalapeno poppers. The Groupon was for $20 worth of product. It was an additional $6 and change. So basically, for two Burgers, Fries, and jalapeno poppers, it was almost $30. My buddy wasn't sure it was worth it. Of course, had I made the order, I would have passed on the fries and poppers. I do think they make one of the better green chili burgers in town. My buddy just got a regular burger. I love the green chili burger, and knew I made the right choice after the first bite. I literally had juices running down to my elbow. Second bite, more of the same! I love it! Green chili juices with just a little bit of spice make this a Killer Burger! Sometimes you just need comfort food. That's exactly what Tommy's green chili burger is for me. I know exactly how it should taste, and was not disappointed in the least. A half pound of beef cook perfectly and then topped with all those green chilies and the rest of the veggies that normally come on a burger, is a go to, feel good meal, for me. Course I will take green chiles anyway I can get them. I can't speak for the rest of the menu as I pretty much stick to what I know. Last night I thought the poppers were okay. The Frog fries were good too, nothing to write home about. But if you're needing simple green chili love on a great burger, this is the place!

What a great burger... Woops maybe that is not a good way to start. We've been fans of Tommy's for years although this was our first visit to this location. The burger was hot and juicy and can be made just about any way you like. We both had the Mushroom Swiss burger and the house made chips. Very very good. The girls running the place were friendly and even flirted a little. Hey middle aged gay men like having a pretty girl flirt with them too. Look on Groupon for a 2 burgers, 2 fries, and 2 drinks deal for $12. Hey this is a great deal 2 full meals for $12 when 1 burger alone is $9.95.

I asked for my hamburger to be cooked medium knowing I wouldn't be able to get it medium rare, which is the way I like my burger. It came out well done. Based on how long it took to get, I didn't think it was worth returning it. The Frog Fries.... The toppings were fine - lots of cheese, onions and jalapeños. However, the fries themselves were unseasoned and under cooked.

I can't get behind all these bad reviews man. Sure the staff is rough around the edges but this place is a burger dive. Don't expect Alfonso to be waiting for you at a candlelit table offering wine samples. They were nice and and answered all my questions. That's all there is to it! If I had to give a critique for the owner, it would be to get a beer and wine menu. The bar area is very cluttered with cute mementos etc but I had no idea what all was being served. At least a chalkboard you can write your current beers on with the price. Other than that, it's what I expected it to be and more. They had cheap beers ...and although the burgers come at a hefty $10+, they do at least come with fries unlike some places (five guys...chapps...I'm calling you out.) These burgers are delicious... plenty of flavor.. the fries are the good homemade kind (if you don't like oily fries then you are weird .. don't come here... I have a personal belief that a "crispy" fry is an overdone fry.) It's a cool place to kick back, explode through your calorie limit for the day, have some beers and chill. The little patio is nice, too. This is a good ole Texas burger dive and I LOVED it. We will be back!

We live walking distance from this location and don't go there as much as we should. The burgers, catfish and fries are all amazing! We occasionally order for pick up and the food is always ready in just a few minutes for us and piping hot still when we get home. Customer service is definitely above average too!

Tommy's burger is another one of my all-time favorite burger joints, they have some of the best specialty burgers around and they use some of the best meat you've ever tasted. They make the old fashioned style burgers I use to get when I was a kid.

This place is hidden very close to TCU! The burger I got the B52 is enormous for the price! The price was perfect since it comes with fries a huge plus for my reviews! Most of the burgers come with fries and have a choice for substitutions. The taste was great and the burger was fully cooked. I was able to add cheese for an extra 50¢ well worth it. This belly buster will fill any appetite. The staff was very nice and quick with the service.

Absolutely rude for your staff to tun up to people in the parking lot and threaten them. This type of behavior will get your business nowhere. Your pathetic little restaurant is totally empty and you threaten people who park within 200 feet??? Totally awful food and rude customer service. I will Never come back.

We found ourselves here by accident and had quite a nice meal. I very much enjoyed my green chile goat cheese burger and everyone else enjoyed theirs as well. Their fries are thin fresh cut; the green beans aren't that exciting but heck, it's nice to have a healthier side offered as an inclusion option with a burger that isn't a salad or a big upcharge. We sat out on the patio on a nice day, which was pleasant and there was tons of parking available. Comparing it to my favorite other burger joint in the general area, the burger itself I think was about as good as Dutch's though I prefer Dutch's buns. That said, I hate the parking situation at Dutch's so would be far more likely to go to Tommy's for a weekday lunch or during peak hours. The price for a burger & side ranges averages about $8-9 + tax & tip, not including your drink. The burgers are definitely half pound burgers though so you will not leave hungry. I think Dutch's ends up more expensive if you actually want a side with your burger; if you just eat a burger it's cheaper there since it is a la carte. At Dutch's I usually only get the burger and am stuffed. So overall, it's probably the 2nd best burger I've had in Fort Worth proper but probably an easier location to deal with so I'm sure we'll come again.
