Tommy's on Grand

The food was ok. My chicken sandwich was a bit messy, but well seasoned. Also, our fries really needed salt. The service was great! The cooks were very nice. I also enjoyed the ‘Chicago’ atmosphere.

There no place like, Tommy’s on Grand. I’ve lived in, Chicago for 10 years and this is by far my favorite place to indulge. The best fast diner food I’ve ever had, ever. Get the, Chilango.

They have good food in there and the look inside is very chicago style. The seats are near the window and give a nice vibe to the place.

Messiest on Grand, order the gyros and the loaded fries for a good time. The chicken parm and the cheesy beef were so messy they were almost inedible. I had to use a fork and knife and tossed most of the bun. Do not get the beef dipped the bun will not survive being picked up. Garlic fries were not garlic don’t waste the extra money. They did give lots of napkins and cutlery so that’s a plus.

This Places Is Good On Food Great Quality And Services. Just A Little Pricey On Certain Foods And Can Delivery And Dine In Very Spacey To Eat In With The Kids And Family's And Friend's Also Have Ice Cream Shake's. Hotdogs,Burger's,Gyro's,Italian Beefs,Chicken Sandwich All Kinds Of Good Foods Mozzarella Cheese Stick's. Only Reason For 4 Stars Was On Price's!

First time here and the burger looks and taste phenomenal. I’m a burger guy anywhere I go if they have burgers I will try them definitely my top 3 burgers I’ve had in my life. Staff was friendly and patient will be back again and again.

It's been a while since ive been here and their prices have increased! Service can be a hit or miss sometimes. It may be slow or fast. The food is basic American food with a few nuances. I tried their jalapeño poppers which are deadly for your body but a good treat or cheat meal. Their shakes are decently sized. I got a "small" which can comparable be mediums in most fast joint places! I got their Oreo which basically tastes like a better Oreo McFlurry. I typically don't choose American fast food, but if you are craving, this is an option. Just beware of increased prices.

Very poor customer service and over priced food...The cashier was on her phone at register seemed to be mad I came in to order. The cook looked irritated it's greasy spoon food so if you're up late night no where open super hunger. I had a taste for tamale and fries only reason I went. I asked for the meal the cashier told me you can't get as a meal. I end up ordering hot dog meat which totaled $17 plus change it would've been additional $4-5 charge to use credit card. I get the food and it's 2 meals after she told me the tamales couldn't be a meal.

Decided to try Tommy's for lunch a couple days ago and it was really good! I called in my order in advance for pickup and the lady who answered the call was really kind and took my order very efficiently and told me the food will be ready in 15 minutes. The order was ready prior to the 15 minute mark which impressed me - super fast! The food tasted amazing the cheese burger was perfect and the fires were super tasty too! The Cheeseburger is on Portillo's and Culver's level so that should tell you how good it is!! I definitely recommend everyone in the area to try this burger joint! I will be returning again!! :)

I like there cheese fries. You order food at register and you can sit. Usually me and my Dad take food too go.

Decided to order a quick combo for dinner and got myself a grilled chicken BREAST sandwich with fries and a hotdog combo with fries as well, I asked for two cokes the lady ignored me and gave me one coke and one ICE TEA. Brushed it off cause I didn't mind the flavor drink. But then I get home to eat my sandwich and there were bones in my chicken breast! I spit out the rest but was able to catch a picture of the rest. And to top it off we got the butt end of dry French fries very very disappointed.

We just had them again for lunch today and they were delicious as usual. Their burgers and fries are much better than the competition particularly chains (this place is not as far as I know) in terms of selection/variety, taste, etc. My family and I still highly recommend.

Food taste great, cooked just right, generous portions. Fast and accurate service , employee's are friendly. Great value for the money. You won't be disappointed

Hello Foodzies, indoor dining is once again put on hold. That doesn't mean we can't critique pick up food. So here we go. I've been in search of the best burgers. Well guess what, I have found a place that has one of the best burgers I have eaten in a long time. Tommy's on Grand at 6001 w Grand Ave. has the best char grilled burgers. I had the Big Baby burger with cheese, ketchup, mustard, grilled onions, lettuce and tomato. It was huge. The flavor was off the charts, the char was perfect. Glenda had the Avocado Club burger it was delicious, fresh avocado, bacon, lettuce and tomato with ranch dressing. Once again a great char and an awesome marriage of flavors. The fries were bagged crinkled fries (fresh cut would be the bomb) crispy and nicely salted. We also tried the cheese fries again crispy and flavorful could use more cheese. Kind of sad when I have to scrape cheese from fry to fry. We will definitely be back, looking forward to trying a few other items. For burgers, I highly recommend Tommy's on Grand. I don't know why I stopped here around midnight after the Shakira Concert. They have a huge menu & I had to get a gyro. What a big Efffinnn mistake that was. This has to be the worst gyro I ever ate. I think he took the meat from a gyro someone returned , burned it and gave it to me. I don't know why I didn't return it. There's a great place on the corner of Milwaukee and Foster Kings Gyros that has probably the best gyros in the city and I got this crap. NEVER AGAIN

If you get to try this place, drop me a note and Tommy how you feel about it. I know you Tommy not to ask for personal communications, but that didn't sound genuine Tommy. Tommy's was a little disappointing because the two beautiful girls didn't seem to like me very much and the one with the tattoos seemed annoyed that I gave her a tip lol. Maybe she thought I was hitting on her. Maybe I was. Honestly, I would have loved to have hit on her but I actually give tips to pretty much everybody I am served by. And I'm a little shy around beautiful women so I'm sure she couldn't have thought I was hitting on her. Anyway. The hot dog was a little dry and wasn't wonderful. The crinkle cut french fries tasted like oven fries and were really bad. The hot dog wasn't awful but it certainly wasn't as good as I hope for when I come to Chicago. I don't like that they don't have napkins on the table they only give you a couple with your order. Overall it's somewhere between a 3 and a 4, and it's hard to decide which rating would be more appropriate considering the various elements, and the fact that I try to be supportive of family businesses.

Great place to eat for that Chicago feel. Service was equally as great. Try the Greek chicken salad, it was amazing.

Experience: This review was during the covid pandemic, and as a result, my experience was only based on the food and limited time with the staff. Overall, they were friendly and professional. Parking: There is a free parking lot that is attached to Tommy's. It is very convenient and it appears to have plenty of spots open. With that said, it is one less thing you have to worry about when you decide to visit here. Worth: Due to the covid pandemic, it tends to be difficult to find anything open. Thank goodness that Tommy's was one of the places that kept in business during this time of crisis. They had ready to pick up orders and I was able to call in ahead of time. Their menu had various of items, that it may be difficult to choose. At the end, I had the Jefe Burger (As pictured below), and it surely did not disappoint. Overall, worth the visit! Go support small businesses!

My husband stopped here randomly when in the area. I was pleasantly surprised on how good the burger was! It was large and done well. The fries were huge and just the perfect amount of crisp. My husband enjoyed his fish sandwich saying it was tender and flaky and my daughter had a hot dog. I would go again for sure!

Very rude cashier. Made me wait outside for two shakes while it was raining. Now, I understand if the place was busy because of covid but no-one was inside!! I didn't cause a seen because I'm not that person but I was confused as to why? I was wearing my mask being cautious as well. Food sucks besides the fry's but let's face it, so many better places. This is Chicago. If you're hungry for Gyros, chicken sandwich, or hotdogs worth going somewhere else.

When CPD vehicles were passing back and forth without stopping by Tommy's, I should have gained a clue that this place wasn't "lo mejor de lo mejor" in the neighborhood. They recently went under a new management. The remodeling works done on their interiors and exteriors made the entire restaurant more inviting and enhanced the visual appearance. I had a high expectation based on the pictures I've seen on some of their specialties: Mother-in-Law, El Jefe, Chilanga, and Chilango, but I felt the executions on our orders today had a plenty of room to improve. The "El Jefe" burger failed to "own" it like a boss. The ingredients definitely had the leadership qualities (pepper jacks cheese, chipotle mayo, and avocado slices). However, "los empleados para el jefe" needed some serious developments. The lettuce was soggy, which caused dilutions on other components. In the others, the entire team had a dire urge for a big corporate visit so that everyone can tighten up and increase his/her productivity. Hubby's "Mother-in-law," or I guess she is equivalent to my own lovely Mama J. had a similar dilemma as what "El Jefe" experienced. Hubby commented that he had no regrets on trying this out for the first time, but he would probably opt for something else in the future. Nevertheless, the price-points on their combos are quite reasonable. For $13 and some change, we had two (2) combos that came with fries and unlimited pop for dine-in patrons. I might give TOG another chance since it's relatively close to me. I really hope I would be able to change my mind.

This is the spot if you wanted a great gyro and fries! But now? So disheartening to see how poorly the staff treat food and customers during this COVID pandemic. Cooks and servers in the front are not wearing gloves or protective masks, I would like to assume that our food is handled properly during this pandemic but it doesn't appear so. I ordered what I always get: a gyro and fries. Both are disgustingly soggy and wet as if they were sitting in a bowl of water before being handed over. The gyro also has what I assume to be an entire onion, listen, I like onion. But do not give me more onion than meat on a gyro! This place used to be better, now its just trash.

Tommy's on Grand screw a simple order. I place a pick order via phone. Three combos 1 plain Gyro w/mozzarella cheese, pizza puff meal and a polish only ketchup meal. Mind you is snowing and is cold in Chicago. Instead of having a nice sit down meal at home with my kids. I have to throw away my son's polish because they put every single thing they found on the kitchen. I have to give him my gyro because his diabetic type 1 and he have to eat something. Mama can wait! Called back to complaint instead of trying to work something with me. Nina (cashier and who took my order) decided to blame the cooks but forgot customer satisfaction. Way to go Nina.... thanks for messing up our family night!

The Gyro plate was "okay" you can say, I have been to other gyro spots and they give you a little bit more of Meat, other than that it was ok. This place is good but I recommend trying other thing in the menu.

I was a little disappointed by this location. The hot dogs were less than average and bland. The fries were good. The location looks nice. I'll give them another try but it won't be for hot dogs.

I ordered a number 14 and a number 2 I also had a pizza puff and cheesy dog I spent 41.82 for a number 14 and a number 2 and pizza puff they forgot my cheesy dog and I was really hoping for the cheesy dog but now that I know they won't give me part of my order why would I go there again? I love there 14 but I really want their cheesy dog it sounded so good I am very disappointed..

Great place to eat a burger. "Jefe Burger Meal" thats the magic word. Hands down, one of the best burgers in town and at a affordable price. Less than $10 for a meal that comes with fries. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this place to anyone looking for a burger spot. I have been coming here at least once or twice a month for the past year.

I order from Tommy's one night on whim (I was really craving Chicago style hot dogs). I ended up ordering the spicy the burger and hot dogs. I was feeling fat that night. The dogs did not lack flavor and the burger did not disappoint in terms of being spicy! I ended up ordering a second time (election night) because we had some friends come over to watch the results and for the second time, the food enjoyed by everyone! I prefer steak cut fries, but it won't stop me from ordering from here again.

Great food place is clean heats blasting. They did a great job remodeling. Now you can eat inside. Owner greets you at the door. Portions are good!

The owner is sweet, he gives me cake when I visit not that I need it, but hey, it was a gift, so I had to take it, right? Excuses Excuses Be mindful of the cashier's though, they tend to have big attitudes for no reason, I always smile really big when I have to deal with them, it works and I avoid delivery. Oh the food is good especially the onion rings and the chocolate shake with whip cream, I chuckle inside when they ask if I want whip cream, like my belly doesn't answer that question for them.

I've been meaning to write this review for a while because Rafael the cook is amazing and I hope he is still working there. I moved from the area so I don't get to go there as much but he was a great cook and always handled my crazy mixture requests for a sandwich like an enthusiastic champ. I hope he is still there, do call and ask for him before going there to make sure you get his great work. The food on the menu is always better when he is there!

Dumbest damn place in Chicago. Food is okay, very dry. Fries are never salted. But the most annoying thing is their false advertising on opening and closing hour

I'm pissed! I've gone to Tommy's on Grand many times since they opened. I have never been disappointed, even though they have made the occasional error on an order now and then, they have always rectified it. Their food is really good, fresh and well prepared. I phoned the restaurant this evening to place an order for delivery. I was told that if I want to order for delivery and use a charge card, I must order online. Ok, I'll do that. I went to the website, and placed the order. 5 minutes later I got a phone call from the restaurant telling me their delivery service ends at 9, and my order wasn't placed. I asked the girl on the phone why she didn't tell me delivery stopped at 9 when I called? She told me 'look, delivery stops at 9, and I cancelled the order'. Snotty girl, shitty attitude, and lousy customer service means I won't return for either pickup or delivery. Regardless of how good the food is, if my business isn't appreciated & they can't manage to treat customers in a nice way, I will find a burger somewhere else.

Great fast food , great seating, great value for the quality of food, plenty of options to choose from all your Chicago street food favorites , try the turkey burger with bacon, succulent and filling !!!!

Went here yesterday and dined on their small patio. This place is pretty great. Staff is friendly, and quick. Food seems like it's made to order which I definitely appreciate. This is probably my new favorite spot to grab a quick burger or hot dog. I'll be back to try the gyros.

Ok after my little mishap with the delivery driver. They are now delivering back to my house! The staff that answers the phone seems to change often. But they always get my order right. But I always ask for French fries well done. And They never are. We are definitely still customers of Tommys!! Their milkshakes are amazing!!

If you want freshly made burger at a great price this place it's delicious! The tomatoes,avocado, lettuce taste really fresh! I'm giving it 4 start because sometimes the fries are little hard besides that my favorite place to eat burgers.

Okay I have been going to this place for quite some time and the food and service where great however lately when I order from their app, they always mess up my order and the worst part is that when you call them and tell them that you are missing something from your order, they will argue with you because according to them it does not show in their system/register. For example I order from the kids menu, 1 hot dog meal which comes with small fries and a small drink. I was missing the drink so I called and the person who answer the phone said no that is not what you ordered and no I am not going to give you the drink. Very unprofessional and no customer service. I ordered a Italian beef sandwich and ask for it to be dip and they gave it to me dry. I ordered a cheeseburger with ketchup and mayonnaise and guess what it was missing from the burger. So since I wasn't getting anywhere when I called them, I decided to send them an email to the owner in regards to the issue and he never replied back with a resolution or even apologizing for their mistake. The way they handle their complaints, its absolutely ridiculous and I will never go back to this place nor recommend this place to family and friends.

Wow, great little hole in the wall. Clean, friendly and very tasty food! The little guy went for chicken and waffles, other little guy had a tasty burger. The wife liked the Italian beef and I got a beef and sausage combo. I really liked the sausage, it wasn't the typical sausage you find, it was flame grilled and had little cumin seeds in it. Or were they carroway seeds? One of those. A nice change to typical greasy spoons. Looking forward to our return.

Forgot to get my kid a gyros from Greek Fest, so i stopped here on my way home for one. Kid said it was huge and is his new favorite. Stopped again this week and also got one. Kid was right, it was huge. And Delicious!!

This place had great reviews! Too bad I can't give one. First off we ordered a delivery for my job and were stoked to to try a new place. We ordered a double cheese burger which was not cooked right or seemed like it was old. We also had a chicken parm sandwich which was dry. I also ordered a maxwell st polish which was not really a maxwell st since it was not on French bread. I also wanted to try a chili but unfortunately it didn't make it on my delivery and I had to call them to deliver it for me since I paid for it. The chili was probably the best part of lunch but the chili wasn't that great either. I guess I have to still look for a good delivery fast food place for work.

Food was cold. Greek fries was nothing but fries with cubes of feta cheese. Taco pizza puff was nasty and to be honest won't order from here

I honestly never expected this place to be as good as it is. It's definitely a gem. I've had several burgers, pizza puffs, red hots, sausages, shakes, fries and onion rings here and I've yet to be dissatisfied. I live very close to Tommy's and it's definitely my "go-to".

I had the Fuego burger. It wasn't the best. I think they need to use a better bun or make the patty wider. The bun seems to be a bit big while the patty is small. The jalapeño looked ugly, I don't know if it was spoiled or if it was grilled. I did like the fries. I will give them another try with a different burger, like normal burger.

Love the food here, and the service is always pleasant. I've ordered many items off the menu here haven't disliked one thing yet.

Tommy's on Grand has some great burgers and hot dogs and I honestly love the crinkle cut fries. My go to burger here is El Jefe burger, it has the regular burger toppings including avocado, bacon, pepper jack cheese and a Chipotle mayo. The burger is not only delicious but it's big in size, which all the burgers and chicken sandwiches are actually big in size. I'm also never disappointed with a good old Chicago dog from here. They have a pretty extensive menu here if you're looking for anything else. Only going with 4 stars because some of the other menu items are decent at best

Soooo good!! I had never had a gyro salad so I didn't know what to expect. Was not disappointed at all. Everything was fresh and the Greek dressing added that final touch. The cheeseburger was just as good, according to my gf.

First time here. I tried the Jefe Burger. I LOVED IT! Tasty patty, bacon, avacado, chipotle mayo!! Yummm it was great. Clean place and attentive staff! Don't get this way much but I'll be back!

Great spot with reliable late night food. Cheese fries, gyros, and burgers have always been spot on.

As I said before first time from California and it was awesome. Great customer service. Can't wait to visit again. Til next time.
