"Hankering for some sushi? Tomo is the place to go in Burien. Another local favorite with a good reputation among patrons, Tomo may not look like much from the outside, but much like Mama told you not to judge a book by its cover, the doors of Tomo hold magic inside. The sushi rolls are beautiful, colorful works of art. They have menu options for one person or your whole company holiday dinner. If raw fish isn’t your thing, never fear - they have many options for the teriyaki lover, as well as yakisoba, crispy tempuras and gyozas. Don’t skip the mochi ice cream for dessert." - Laura LeMoon

Google
Tomo. Awesome. Great sushi. Wonderful staff. Not the sexiest place in the universe, but my god... the food was crazy good. Mt Rainier Roll was out of this world! Will definitely be coming back here - you should too.

Michael Schroeder

Google
Barely acceptable. I had multiple types of sashimi and nigiri. The sashimi was very bland, essentially flavorless, which indicates low quality or repeatedly frozen fish. It's crazy to have tasteless salmon or yellowtail here. The tamago nigiri was served on an inch-long piece of rice and it was so *wet*, and again no flavor to speak of. Lastly, edamame. Still half frozen, barely warmed, and such low quality. Half my beans were mushy. The staff were kind and somewhat attentive. I was the only customer for much of my visit.

Google
Fabulous little hole in the wall spot in Burien serving up the freshest fish with the best prices! Most restaurants in Seattle with this quality of fish are almost double price wise. We love Tomo Sushi - it’s our go to takeout place!!

Stephen Lin

Google
Perfect salmon nigiri. The salmon platter was excellent and had a variety of styles of nigiri. The winter roll is very unique and a must try.

Alex Harms

Google
Best sushi in all of Seattle! We love this place! Nicest people, best sushi and we have never had a bad experience. Our favorite item is the party tray

Ari

Google
Each roll was absolutely fresh and delicious. Great service, and amazing food! Definitely one of my fav sushi spots now, affordable too! They have vegetarian options as well. We got the buddah roll which was sweet potato and it was so bomb!

Google
My husband and I came here for the first time tonight, and were immediately impressed. Delicious food and fantastic service made for a perfect date night dinner. We had the miso soup and shared 4 sushi rolls: Alaska, King Crab, Spicy Girl, and Blossom. Everything tasted fresh and delicious. Their spicy tuna is some of the best I've ever tasted. We will definitely be back to sample more of the menu.

Pretty good sushi and nice people who work here.

Yelp
I was craving sushi and so my boyfriend and I went to Tomo Sushi for a quick and light dinner. This was our first time at Tomo. Tomo Sushi is located in the strip mall on 152nd St. It has about 15 tables plus seating at the sushi bar. You order via the QR code at the table. He had already eaten, and so we only ordered a couple of dishes. We ordered the BLACK PEPPER TUNA (+$16.95 for a half order, which is 4 pieces) and the SPIDER ROLL (+$10.95 for 6 pieces). The BLACK PEPPER TUNA was excellent. Pricey, but excellent. It came with a sweet and savory sauce and was topped with microgreens. Each piece was generously coated with black pepper and seared to perfection. The SPIDER ROLL was wonderful as well and was just what I was craving. The deep fried snow crab was nice and crunchy and the eel sauce offered the perfect sweet contrast to the otherwise savory roll. All the fish was fresh and the sushi just melted in my mouth. If I was hungrier, I also would've ordered one of their chef special rolls such as the Salmon King Roll or the Spicy Girl Roll which has spicy tuna, spicy mayo, cucumber, and avocado (they also have the Spicy Boy Roll which is the same roll but with salmon). Service was great and we got our food relatively quick after ordering (note that it was a weekday at 5pm and there were only a couple of other people eating there). There were a handful of people who came to pick up takeout though. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. The restaurant is nothing fancy, but the interior and bathroom are modern and clean. Overall: 5/5 for food, 4/5 for service, 4/5 for atmosphere

Yelp
i came in here with my friend on a friday, a little after 4pm which was right when they opened again. the place was dimly lit which created a nice quiet ambiance, and we were the first and only customers there for a while. we checked their menu which was through a QR code and settled on 5 items, we got the seafood sunomono, spider roll, deluxe roll, salmon king roll, and the winter roll. they also served complimentary edamame which is nice! when the food arrived, i thought the seafood sunomono was subpar, the description of the order is exactly what you'll get, but i won't dock points down for my own decision. everything else was good but i will say the pickled radish of the winter roll was overpowering, however, i found that eating most of the radish until only one layer was wrapped around everything inside, was the perfect balance for me.

Yelp
GLUTEN-FREE PEEPS!! THEY HAVE TAMARI! Solid neighborhood sushi with that welcoming, family-owned vibe. Good service, reasonable prices, and clean booths. The favorite part of our meal BY FAR was the Cajun Salmon nigiri ($8.50 for 2 pcs). It's a seared salmon nigiri with some delicious, smoky, savory seasoning on top. Definitely recommend trying this if you normally like seared salmon!!! Also enjoyed: Plain Sunomono Hulk Roll Godzilla Roll Spicy Yellowtail Roll Salmon Roe nigiri Bluefin Tuna nigiri Creamy Scallop nigiri Miso Soup Plenty of parking spots along this shopping strip in Burien. Will be back for more Cajun Salmon nigiri!

Betsy H.

Yelp
Quick & friendly service, unusually delicious avocado sushi, large portions, complementary edamame. (The one that means it's included, not the one that says nice things about you).

Samantha S.

Yelp
Looking for a decent sushi place near the airport, this place was fantastic! Looks low key and food is delicious and fresh. We had the beef fried rice, a Fuji roll, spicy boi and spicy girl rolls plus goyza. My kids were happy!

Food D.

Yelp
We had dinner here four days ago and it was acceptable sushi for the price. Not much on presentation, but fish was fresh. What really bothered us was our view of the booth adjacent to the sushi bar/counter. Apparently the owners use it for a catch all dumping ground of all kinds of paperwork and miscellaneous things. It's very unacceptable in a public dining area. Clean up your mess and move your "office" out of view! 3 stars for the food & service.

Alma B.

Yelp
Wow!!! Five star sushi! 1. Perfectly rolled 2. Rice to fish ratio 1 to 3! Extraordinary! 3. Excellent service Overall, a great, high quality place! This is my 2nd time here, and I mean. Just look at these photos!!!

Marelle H.

Yelp
Ate an obscene amount of sushi at Tomo! All the food was fresh and tasted great. Service was fast and friendly. They have an online menu, so you can order straight from your phone after you scan your table's QR code. Prices were very reasonable. They also have a small selection of beer, saki, and sparkling yuzu. We came on a night that the Sounders were playing, so it wasn't busy at all. Will definitely be back.

Yelp
didn't know this place existed until Yelp found it for me. Great little Spot. Food was fantastic!

Pat A.

Yelp
I love all the food here, especially sushi they are a lot less rice than most places. The cooked food are also very yummy. I pretty much can eat food from here everyday! My favorite that I ordered often is Spider roll (even though my kids are really worried that I eat spider!!)

Cecelia P.

Yelp
Was sat down quickly upon walking through the door and the server was kind to explain to us how to order since it was a QR code to scan. Once we placed our order, we didn't wait terribly long and food tasted great! Very kid friendly for families and looks like they can accommodate bigger groups if you call ahead.

Denise S.

Yelp
We are thrilled that Tomo Sushi is open for dine in now! We did take away orders during the pandemic, but now get to sit inside and have orders flung at us one after the next. That's probably the best part - you can bring up your menu and tab from your phone and just order as you see fit based on your appetite and current fullness level. The go-to plates are the veggie gyoza and OMG salmon. Whatever seasoning is on that salmon is out of this world. There are a variety of rolls, and we keep going back to try new ones. The Buddha Roll and Futomaki are solid staples that shouldn't be missed, but there are no wrong answers when it comes to the options at Tomo. I would love to see a rice bowl added to the menu, but it isn't anything that will keep me from going again and again. Give me all the red snapper sashimi and I'll be happy.

Steven H.

Yelp
Had honestly the best sushi meal I've had in a while. Chutoro, toro, spider roll, yellowtail and some basic rolls. Chef showed me a fresh piece of fish just from that morning/day. It was so good!!! Had sake and beer and really enjoyed it by myself, LOL. It should be more popular but seems quiet on weekdays. I would highly recommend this sushi restaurant!!

Hunter O.

Yelp
Awesome little sushi joint!! Service was great!! And the food was even better!! Every roll and every piece of sushi was amazing. Nothing was old or fishy. Best sushi I have had in a few years to be honest about it. If your near here you should eat here!!

Maegan D.

Yelp
Awesome sushi spot. Fresh fish served at the perfect temp, well seasoned rice and rolls, and gluten free options available. The service is always great.

Manwinder U.

Yelp
Loved this sushi spot, it seems family owned and the environment was so cute with a couple other families eating, couples and solo diners. The complimentary edamame was great and I loved the Avalon role it was exactly what I was craving. Super savory and had the crunch as well as spicy Mayo my eel sauce to balance all flavors out. Having finer with every bite and a bit of soy sauce was perfect. The servers were so kind and service was perfect. Will be back!!!

Ashley L.

Yelp
Very high quality sushi located in downtown Burien! At this time I think they're only doing to go orders through their online site but most orders are ready for pickup within 20-30 minutes. Free parking right in front of the restaurant. My favorites were the spider roll and the yellowtail maki. Next time I will definitely get the Blue Fin Tuna Nigiri and Otoro Nigiri.

Linh N.

Yelp
I've ordered from here a couple times and honestly the sushi here is so good. We didn't have any expectation for this place because we always assume strip mall sushi is going to be subpar but we were so wrong. This place does sushi pretty well! I haven't dined in but ordering take out is such a breeze. I've enjoyed everything I've ordered here. The hulk roll and fire salmon roll is delicious. The sashimi roll is so underrated here. I know a lot of restaurants offer it now with so many fad diets going on but they make there's jam packed with so many different kind of fish and it's so yummy. Anyways. Highly recommend ordering from here.

E S.

Yelp
Great small local sushi spot in downtown Burien, and I'm a sushi snob. Was pleasantly surprised by the freshness of the fish. Not as fancy or sustainable as some other places but it's a fraction of the price and the service is much faster than our previous local spot.

Rachel B.

Yelp
Visited Tomo for my 12 year old's birthday dinner. It was a great place for a multigenerational dinner with grandparents and aunts and uncles. Everyone shared a sushi boat with several rolls and pieces of nigiri and it was fantastic. The vegetarian sushi was also quite good. Recommend if you are looking for affordable sushi in a relaxed location.

Angel M.

Yelp
Bomb.com let's just say that but the food being fast and fresh o yess that is what makes me keep coming back i like my sushi tempura and they have some really good options

Eating C.

Yelp
Came here to other day with my friend and got some nigiri, a couple rolls and some appetizers. Everything was delicious. This place is my go to sushi place and is amazing.

Sarah C.

Yelp
I am so excited to finally find a truly excellent sushi place in Burien. The fish is delicious, succulent, and fresh. I mostly had nigiri, but the spicy salmon roll and yellowtail jalapeño appetizer were equally delicious. Prices are very reasonable, and well worth it for the quality. This will be my new go-to!

Lori C.

Yelp
We ordered a pick up order for a Friday night dinner from the restaurant website. It was ready right on time. Which took about 45-50 minutes after placing the order. 1 x Black Pepper Tuna - Half Order $11.95 1 x Yellowtail Jalapeno - Half Order $9.95 1 x Crystal Roll $14.95 1 x Mexican Roll $12.95 1 x Spicy Girl Roll $14.95 1 x Sweet Heart Roll $14.95 The site was easy to navigate and order from. Alls had images. The only gripe is that not all the descriptions would show the entire sting. It would cut off with a.... And would not expand. Everything was fresh and tasted awesome. The rice to fish ratio was spot on and sushi rice itself was perfectly cooked. I would order everything again except the crystal roll. We will for sure be ordering from this place again.

Shanelle S.

Yelp
The sushi was bomb, service was attentive, and I like how we were able to order from our phones. Will be back.

Brandi C.

Yelp
So if you were suspicious that all the reviews for this new restaurant are five-stars, I can assure you the experience is definitely living up to the ratings. First of all, the sushi is really, seriously amazing. It's been a long time that I've had sushi that was melt in your mouth, flavorful, and yet not too hard hitting on the spices and saltiness. For example the spicy tuna that's used in various combination rolls - truly soft and sweet and yet the spicy kick is not tough: it's a nuanced spiciness that everyone can appreciate. I emphasize this because I'm usually deterred from eating spicy tuna but this was truly something else. As you could expect, each option from the platter (the nigiri and sashimi combo is pretty much customizable) was too good that I'm wondering why I'm not living closer to Burien. Even the textures between the spider rolls, cucumbers, and the softer ingredients created a wonderful melody of tastes. Not to mention how beautifully everything was prepared? Pick-up is easy through the mobile app. We ordered a day ahead and was able to pick it up immediately at the requested time. The restaurant is located in a hole-in-the-wall type of space: it was difficult to find due to the lack of a sign? We didn't see the restaurant name from the front so we had to find it through the address. Though they're not open for seating, there is a long, vertical space that has seating and tables ready for a moderate crowd once they're ready to open back up. Parking-wise, as it is downtown Burien, will be difficult to find as it is generally parallel parking on a cramped street. There are a lot of open lots beside the downtown area that is not a far walk. Anyway, this is my favorite sushi restaurant. It's really hard to beat and gives me Cutting Board throwbacks. Please give it a try.

Nicole N.

Yelp
Amazing sushi and food! Very peaceful environment and friendly staff. Spring rolls were wonderful, rolled sushi pie es were very big! can't say enough good things about this place!

K P.

Yelp
Gave this place a try...I wanted to like it because I want to support local businesses. Sadly, I can't recommend the food there. We started off with miso soup, it is not hard to get this right. They even have packets for it. It tasted like they used one of these packets and used extra water to cut costs. We also ordered the pork tonkatsu and it tasted like it reheated frozen processed and all the rice was dry. My biggest beef is serving imitation crab on a sashimi plate. Just leave it off! It never belongs there and cheapens the dish. The lunch rolls were good, and the prices were very reasonable but I'd rather spend a little more for better quality. Seems like the take short cuts here. In my personal opinion, do less and do it better to make more money on your dishes. Service was also slow and inconsistent.

Ellen C.

Yelp
I come here once a week to get my sushi fix. Right now they are not allowing dine in but you can order to go. I really like placing an order online and they always have my order ready. I've tried their lunch specials which is a really good deal for the amount of food you get. I've also tried their rolls. Great service and food always meets expectations.

Anna L.

Yelp
O M G!!!! Given all the inflated food prices, this was one of the understated meals I've had in a long while. The sushi was surprisingly fresh and presentation was superb!!! Pls give this unassuming place a try. This was a meal for 3 adults and 2 kids and we had lots of leftovers. The party tray (3 specialty rolls, 3 regular rolls, 7 pieces of nigiri and 9 fatty pieces of sashimi) was roughly $80!!!! That averages $10 a roll / nigiri set / sashimi set!!!!

Mike R.

Yelp
Just ate this for lunch and it wasn't bad. I'm not to into ordering my food on my phone but that's ok I guess. Only con I can really give it is the mayo tested off kinda like a fat free or generic brand. Definitely not best food mayo. Other than that it was good. I would definitely come back if my main spots are full.

Dan Tuyen T.

Yelp
I love sushi at this place ! They always taste fresh. The service is super friendly! Must try place !

Frank W.

Yelp
Tomo Sushi exceeded expectations. It was perfectly acceptable. That sounds like "damning with faint praise." It is not: I would eat there again. I had the chirashi, take out. Here is the backstory. I flew into SEA-TAC, landing 7:45pm. By the time I was in the rental car, it was 8:30. I had a hankering for sushi. I looked around for what was nearby. This qualified by that simple search criterion. Since I had selected based on just how close it was to where I was, I doubted it would be anything much. Everything in the vicinity also closes at 9pm. I could only get the order to go. That's fine. The quality was excellent, especially considering this is a neighborhood joint with moderate prices. The tamago was not obviously frozen and waterlogged, as at the last place I had this dish, in Queens, New York City, where I reside. The quantity was not skimpy either. I am in Seattle a couple of times a year. If I ever am leaving the airport looking for sushi, I know where to go.

Misty M.

Yelp
I wish I'd taken pictures. Went early on a Friday night and ordered the dragon roll, spider roll, an avocado and cucumber roll, and an eel roll, along with some tempura and some nagiri. Quality was definitely above average, price for 4 rolls, 4 types of nigiri, with tempura, was about $88 before tip, and we two couldn't finish it. Wasabi was delicious, ginger nice and clean tasting. My favorite was the creamy scallop nagiri, the dragon roll, and the perfectly crisp tempura. I'm not a fan of sweet eel sauce, but my sibling is and loved the eel roll. The surprise was the avocado and cuke roll- perfectly clean, crisp, and creamy palate cleanser roll. I will eat here again when I'm in the area- far better then a large local brand based in Kent.

Nga P.

Yelp
Just found out about this spot! As I was looking through their menu, I finally spotted a roll I don't see too often over here on the west coast, or I don't go to enough sushi spots. It's called the Sashimi Roll here and it is my favorite of all time. Just a really refreshing cucumber wrapped roll with no rice and filled with fresh raw fish (tuna, salmon, albacore & yellowtail), imitation crab, avocado with ponzu sauce. DELICIOUS! I've had other rolls and nigiris here too and they've all been so good. I love that they have ika nigiris here, which is also my favorite, and it's such a good fish to rice ratio. Will definitely keep coming here to get my sashimi roll fix. I'm salivating thinking about it now. ;)

Meghan F.

Yelp
Ordered takeout on my way home and ended up finding a new go-to sushi spot! Decently priced rolls and quite delicious, our order was the perfect amount for the two of us (the spicy roll plate came with miso as well). Great place to go to in Burien!

Elizabeth N.

Yelp
We lived in the area for a long time and just now spotted this gem! They just opened up for indoor dining and it was so gooooood! We had the hulk roll, fire salmon roll, deluxe roll and the OMG salmon nigiri! They do a very nice job of balancing the fish and rice among other things. There's not too much rice in anything. The salmon on the nigiri was blanketed very well over a good amount of rice - not too overbearing. Flavors especially exploded in the Fire Salmon Roll and OMG Salmon Nigiri! Update while at the restaurant - another order of the OMG salmon nigiri and tried the Cajun salmon. BOTH BUSSSSSIN

Alan W.

Yelp
Great spot for sushi in Burien. Maybe not the best sushi you've ever had but definitely a quality spot. Good roll selection and nigiri tastes fresh. Really enjoy the phone-style ordering for dine in. Recommended for the sushi crowd out there.

Elle M.

Yelp
Tomo Sushi is the best unrated/under the radar sushi place in the greater Seattle area! The quality/freshness of their sushi is second to none. I am a huge sushi connoisseur that loves nigiri. Sure I enjoy roll but nigiri is the tell-tell of truly great sushi. Speaking of rolls their "sashimi roll" is to die for! It has tuna, yellow-tail, salmon, avocado rolled up in a super thin julienne cucumber. It is perfection in a roll!

Peezy L.

Yelp
Sushi rolls were large and more stuff inside than the rice... Very good and reasonable!! Chicken karage was good and large portion.

Alexis C.

Yelp
I pass by this place all the time at work, so I was happy to stop by and support today when I "forgot" my lunch. They are just doing to go orders right now, so I ordered some fried rice online just to see if I liked their style. Other than the chicken being kind of big chunks throughout, the rice was great and well seasoned! I think the portions are a bit smaller than I'm used to at other restaurants. Today I finished my entire meal, but usually I have a ton for leftovers. It was about $12.95 for the dish before tax and tip.

Anahi H.

Yelp
Hidden gem in Burien. Was craving sushi for the longest & I was lazy to drive all the way to Japonessa so I decided go order from here & I must say I wasn't disappointed, the food was amazing!! The quality of the sushi was outstanding. Will definitely be back

Sasha P.

Yelp
Fantastic neighborhood sushi spot! We ordered a ton of nigiri plus a couple of rolls and most everything was amazing. We especially liked the spicy seared salmon nigiri. Prices were great and the spot is cozy inside, although we got our food to eat back at home. Only reason one star was docked was the scallop nigiri we ordered didn't taste fresh. But that won't stop us from trying this spot again in the future!

CT. C.

Yelp
We were very surprise with the quality of our order. We normally eat get our sushi in downtown, international district, and in Ballard. A few points to discuss. Quality: We wanted to stay safe and ordered some rolls. Spicy boy rolls and the Deluxe was very tasty. It's FRESH Y'ALL! All cuts of fish were melt in your mouth. The Itamae Sushi chef was very generous with the cuts. It had the perfect amount of fish:rice. After finishing, we were upset that we didn't order sashimi. Chicken Katsu had a nice color and finish. Chicken was moist. However, I'd skip this order next time. Others may really enjoy it. Pricing- very reasonably priced and affordable! Outdoor parking- plenty of parking. We definitely are coming back for the Sashimi since this was a test run. We are excited to have found Tomo!

Neilson E.

Yelp
Fantastic. Each piece is cut to perfection, the rice is spot on, proper ratios, and most importantly fresh and absolutely delicious. The online ordering is great and over a dozen orders have been flawlessly executed. The staff is super friendly. Burien is lucky to have Tomo Sushi serving the community.

Marcie T.

Yelp
We had a great dinner while visiting Seattle. The service was great and the food was amazing! Will definitely come back next time in Seattle!

Haley R.

Yelp
First time I've gone here and the experience was great! Excellent sushi! I ordered to go using their website ordering for pick up. Conveniently located though on 152nd in Burien! I ordered the Alaskan Roll, Philly roll and the Avocado/Cucumber Roll. Delicious and filling! The fish tasted very fresh along with the vegetables. The prices are reasonable as well. I'll be ordering from here again! Thank you Tomo!

Cat M.

Yelp
Tomo Sushi is consistently delicious! Friendly owners and easy to order take out online.

Michelle A.

Yelp
We just moved here so we are looking for our new go to's and we might not need to look any further for sushi. We ordered 9 rolls for 4 adults and it was the most beautiful sushi platter I have ever seen. We got the AAC, Christmas, caterpillar, rainbow, salmon king, spicy yellowtail, bluefin tuna avo, Godzilla, and sweetheart. I am not sure it was actually snow crab in the rolls that listed it, but all the rolls were still delicious and not over sauced. The miso was also great. We will definitely be back.
