55-Year-Old Chicago Icon Ronny’s Steak House Is Bringing Back Live Music - Eater Chicago

"Ronny’s Steak House has been a Chicago institution for 55 years, once serving breaded pork chops, T-bones, and other specialties at multiple locations across the city. The chain is down to a single restaurant, located on the ground-level of the Thompson Center in the Loop. In honor of his father, a fan of blues music, Ronny’s on Friday night will host live music hoping to bring regular shows, something that hasn’t happened in about 20 years. Besides Ronny, Munic has a poke shop across the street from the Thompson Center. He opened High Tide Poke a year ago at 203 N. LaSalle Drive. Ronny’s won’t go through many changes with Munic running the show, but he’s bringing back a dose of nostalgia. From 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on Friday, they’ll host 100 Percent Foolproof. There’s no cover." - Ashok Selvam

I made reservations 2 days ahead of time for father's day since it was my Father's Birthday as well as I included that info in the notes as well.. then they had issues seating us as if the waitress didn't want to finish her shift then took us and most of the beginning of her introduction and coming back to ask if we're ready to order yet rubbed us all the wrong way the way she said it and how she walked away immediately the first time without me answering her question just left us for a while and we had drink questions cuz pops we're on the menu.. after we finally put in all the orders for everything then she started getting a little nicer.. still a bit irritable. (I know everyone has their days but not only was it Father's day it was my dad's bday as well and she never once mentioned anything about those notes in the online request.. all the food was amazing for the crazy high prices. You would think for me spending nearly 400 bucks on our bill she'd treat us better but guess she just didn't care if she got tipped or not.. at the end most of my table used the restrooms and she asked me if I'd like to wait till they got back and she did a side smile.. so I was thinking hey maybe she remembered it's dad's bday.. asked us if we needed anything else when they all came back to the table and then handed me the bill. Now im not a complete A hole I tipped her 15% but still kinda wish I left her maybe $5.. just to be an A hole so she'd get the clue of how her actions have consequences. Poor dad that we had a big surprise planned.. had to buy a cheesecake at the store last minute. 🙄 super disappointed. I was excited to being him to a place that had huge rumors of it being so good back in the days that mafia used to enjoy it there as well. Cant really see why. Oh and the saganaki was drenched with waaaaaaaay to much liquor we couldn't even taste the cheese or the lemon squeezed on top.

We were celebrating our anniversary at this restaurant, by the way! We don't recommend it at all! The meat was apparently cooked to perfection, however, it tasted horrible, reminiscent of a dirty grill with overcooked food that hadn't been cleaned for a week. When we complained to the manager, the response was very poor and unprofessional! The meat tastes that way because it was cooked on charcoal instead of gas! His simple response was "sorry!" He didn't offer a discount, or even say he would check the grill to make sure it was really clean. The other thing was the presentation of the meat... bathed in what they call meat juice... nothing more than an overcooked and burnt broth that represents a contaminated Lake Michigan in the 40s. We don't recommend this restaurant at all! You’ll see the pics by yourself!

Came in for my birthday, here’s the review. This place gets 2.5 stars. The restaurant actually looks really nice inside. Our server Diane was very nice, but she needs to review steps of service for fine dining. Bread was mid, saganaki was tasty (and fun), skip the ribs. They cook their steaks over charcoals, so you have to like a deep char flavor on your crust if you are going to like steaks here. Unfortunately, my ribeye came out tasting like burnt dust. Even sitting in a pool of juices couldn’t save it from being dryer than jerky. When I ask our server to switch it out for the prime rib, I was presented with a steak with 1/4 the steak missing. You can clearly see the kitchen (because I took 2 bites of the ribeye before returning it) deliberately cut off parts of my steak (where’s the rest of my cap?). Steak temps were all over the place from rare to well done and we all ordered medium rare. My friend’s lamb was good. They don’t do anything for birthdays, so don’t expect a scoop of ice cream or sliver of cake. Below is the “King” prime rib as presented to me by our server. Very sloppy and unappealing for a $55 piece of meat.

I hadn’t wanted to write a not great review because my husband and I have been going here for years but our last visit just wasn’t that good. The hostess (younger woman) was very sweet and said that the busboy would be bringing us water and rolls just like for every past visit. When we arrived we asked for Ellen or Dawn for our waitress. Neither one was working on this Friday night. We got there about 5:00. We waited and waited while the busboy went past us multiple times not even looking…a good 15 minutes. Finally the hostess had to bring water and rolls for us. The waitress came and took our order (younger with long hair) but you could tell she did not want to be there. She brought our salads—which they’ve fancied up and are better than they used to be—along with the dressings—which are still wonderful. Our main courses came. My prime rib was overcooked and not tender. The baked potato was not great. We ordered the Bermuda onion and it came cut up. Not in the rings how they used to be. There was a couple sitting on the other side of the wall from us and when their waitress came and asked them how their dinner was, the man said not great…his salad and potato were not good. I had leftovers and asked to bring them home. The busboy came back with a container and handed it to me. In the past the busboy or waitress would pack it up. It just wasn’t the same. In our more recent visits prior to this one, Tom’s was really raising their game but this time they’ve slipped. Also, on a Friday night it was about 3/4 empty. I’m hoping this is just a blip but I don’t know based on other reviews as of late. Tom’s, you can do better!

Google
Terribly overpriced. The grilled shrimp appetizer was good, though 5 shrimp for $20 is steep. Filet minion, all I could taste was the char and no meat flavor. Prime rib was decent. We can get an 1/8 of beef back home for what the bill was. Expected much, much more than what we got. Do not recommend. Of note, the wait staff was nice. Not his fault for what they serve.

Google
Don't let the older style looking building fool you. This was my 1st time eating here & as I walked in, the inside looks much nicer than it appears. The steak was very juicy & tender. The burgers & mushroom soup were ok. The service was excellent.

This was my first time eating at Tom's Steak House. I've driven past this place for years, but never dined here. I came here with a group from church. I really enjoyed the food and the vibe. Our waitress was very nice and provided answers to anything regarding items on the menu. The Cream of Chicken soup was good. I hadn't had it in a long time. For my entree, I had the Queen's Prime Rib. It was seasoned well and cooked just right. A good portion size for its price. For dessert, I had the chocolate cake. Omg, it was right on time. I enjoyed every bite. I didn't finish it all because my mom ate the rest 😊 I would definitely come back again. Next time, I'll try the steak.

Been eating at Tom’s for years. Had dinner and ordered a Bone in Ribye. Cut like it was from sizzler or Jewel thin cut. I doubt it was more than 3/4 of an inch thick. The meat was flavorless and hardly had a char because it was so thin. Wasn’t worth the 60.00 I paid for it. Tom’s has scene better days. To be fair my guest had fillets and they said they were good.

Yelp
We havevbeen a Tom's goer for years..my favorite and my children always got us gift certificates. Well..not sure what happened?? We went last Saturday nite 2/1/25. I had the tilapia..was very good..my husband the chopped steak. The gravy/sauce was watery..no taste? Tom's has always been known for their dressing carousel..those too were watery?? Also known for their potato topping..know for a fact it was cottage cheese and cream cheese. Well..we got sour cream with a few chives for color?? Not all that drastic..but hope they get back on track!! Getting pretty pricey too..but then..what isn't?

Yelp
Love the food and ambiance at this old school steak house. Our server, Kelly, was friendly and Tony checked in often to make sure everything was meeting expectations. he also makes the best espresso & cappuccino's. looking forward to our next visit!

Demitri K.

Yelp
Ambiance- Great old school vibe. 50's-60's time capsule. Cool bar. Service was solid. Server was attentive Food- was solid. Comes out on carts and served from there. Good value with salad and potato with the steaks. Drinks were made well. Steak- was ok. Great char and served with au jus. Definitely a tougher steak quality. I would prefer to pay a few bucks more to get a higher grade of meat or lower the current price on what it is now. My NY Strip, while tasty.. had a lot of chew to it.

Yelp
Came here on Valentine's Day and had a nice time! Despite the snow, parking was still a breeze and the restaurant was hopping! Loved my drink, saganaki, and Queen-cut filet! Highly recommend this restaurant--it has a charming nostalgic feel to it.

Yelp
They charged me for a peice of cake for the birthday we were celebrating, after spending $350.

Yelp
Tom's Steak House, located in Chicago's West Suburban city, Melrose Park, has been in the neighborhood since 1952. They're known for the steaks and seafood.  Although it's in Melrose Park, it has the classic Chicago steak house vibe. Today was my first time visiting amongst friends. The entry and dining space is very welcoming. By the way, if you are looking to plan a private event, there is a really large event space at the main entry. We started the gathering with drinks, Saganaki that's lighted table-side, and the most amazing soup of the day which was Chicken and Rice. I could have dined on both of those all day! From my understanding, all the meats and seafood are charbroiled. As I had a lot of red meat and seafood earlier in the week, I decided to taste the bbq ribs. Anywhere I go, I do my best to get the ribs without the sauce, so that I can taste the flavor behind it. These were baby back and it seemed like there was a lot of black pepper, salt and garlic powder - nothing additional like brown sugar, cajun seasoning, or chili powder. In this case the bbq sauce was definitely helpful. It was very tangy and delicious. Now that I've tried it, the next time I visit and get the ribs again, I'll taste it while the sauce is baked on. A few of my friends dined on Tom's Steak House burger and prime rib. They all had good things to say. No complaints. I was too full to eat dessert at the restaurant, but I brought home a slice of the carrot cake. Wow, that was super amazing. It was a very decent portion, but I could have easily and greedily eaten two slices! I would give Tom's Steak House 4 out of 5 stars. I would like to see a few more cuts of beef and seafood in the entree selection. Tom's has ample parking and accepts online reservations.

Yelp
Classic Chicago steakhouse that's been doing it for over 70 years. Maybe not as flashy as some others but has its own unique ambiance and decor. A little dated?? Perhaps but when something isn't broke why fix it personally I'm a fan of time capsules. Good strong drinks and a great staff. Food is always cooked to our liking and delicious. Try them out they won't disappoint

Yelp
The dirty martini was amazing. Kelly gave excellent service and the prime rib was to die for.

Yelp
Best tenderloin I have ever had in my 65 years. You could almost cut it with a fork. The Whiskey Old Fashion was superb. What a wonderful place. I'll be back.

Tony and Lilly were awesome! Excellent food and even better service! Music was great and will be coming back again!

Yelp
This place has a history. It MEANS something to the wee ones from long ago (the 1970's) that now take their own grandkids here. Generational dining. Wanted to eat in the bar (and AT the bar) with the various locals of varied IQ's. At times the locals at this bar vary between cloying and clever. The bartenders are sassy. (Sometimes too "sassy.") But they are real. "Real" as in human. An oasis. Oasis "the nothing" I fear someday soon will wipe away. ("The nothing" is corporate blight.) Its like how Riverview ,Kiddie Land, Venture, Blommer Chocolate, The Loop Radio, Rock n Roll, Lake Shore Drive, and everything else (that isn't a strip-mall corporate type place) goes away. The originals are being killed off. My wife demanded the dining room. Ugh. Dining right out of Americana 1950's. Like one of the segments out of Disneys "Carousel of Progress." Our waitress was fine, I guess. Competent but not friendly. I tried to kibitz but she was of the "c'mon c'mon hurry it along" variety. The place wasn't busy. Maybe she was just tired or pulled a double. Going through the motions. She singlehandedly could have made this a 5 star review but instead of "meh." My advice to servers when you don't feel like doing their actual job? FAKE IT or leave. My cocktail was great. The oysters were very standard cheap meaty Costco variety (not Kumamoto class). Really overpriced @ 20$ half dozen. Chicken rice soup- flavorful but from a can (Sysco Food Services) Im betting. My med-rare ribeye loaded w/ fat (to be expected) and was overcooked but TASTY. 56$. Not a Linz fine steak but an oldschool steak. There IS a difference. Tom's steaks are tougher, and chewier, than a Gibson's, or other higher end places. I raised black angus cattle. I sometimes prefer this type of steak . It takes me back to a time in my life when my family had steaks like this. There have been many changes in the meat industry in the last 30 years. Changes that have brought us steaks that are far different nowadays . Example: Wagyu beef is like meat you could almost drink with a straw. Too mushy for me. Tom's steaks involve chewing. Most Americans under 40 have never had a grass-fed steak. (Dont get TV anchorman Bill Curtis going on this! It is his obsession.) We now feed our cattle corn for a long time. Maybe too long. We did on our farm. And it ups the sugar content and makes the meat tender and delicious. Steaks have never been better tasting than they are right now. American steaks (not Japan or Australia) really are superior. You'd rather eat your shoe, Charlie Chaplin style, than gnaw on a Tuscan Steak in Italy. They are rough going. Back to Tom's- This place is the real deal. Unchanged since 1952 but not unwashed. Way before my time. (And that usually means "decrepit" these days. Not so here.) This place? Clean. It feels like a movie set. OLD but not antique. Nice work on the upkeep folks. It FEELS like you are walking into this place in it's era. I dig it kid! And that's worth something. And they ARE ca$hing in on the nostalgia factor. The prices SEEM high. You do get a potato (w/ fixins) and a choice of soup or salad w/ your steak. Thats nice!Thats something thats disappearing from menus right? Everything is a la carte nowadays. So this is a plus! I asked for "Ranch Dressing please." The brusque response? "No ranch dressing." "Her terse charmless response was very unpleasant" we all thought. Heres an idea: offer an alternative. Or or or better yet? Get Ranch Dressing from Sysco. Just throwing out an idea here! Green Goddess ain't the world's most popular salad dressing any more. Ranch was invented in the 1950's right around the exact same time that Tom's actually opened. Did you know that in 1992 it beat out Italian to become the most popular dressing in the western world. This isn't a fad. The vast majority of your customers want Ranch. Don't change Tom's .. ok ok maybe change a few things. Get some help that have some passion for serving (I believe its an art form) and add Ranch dressing. Ahh, and another thing! No creamed spinach Tom's?!? What the ?!? At a steakhouse in Chicago? Are you batty? Lots of Greek stuff however. Saganaki the flaming cheese- that you have but not creamed spinach? Cheese on fire? Thats great! Greeks have a long proud history of running great resturants in our town. But you cant be a real steakhouse w/out creamed spinach. Its steakhouse blasphemy! And sadly something is off kilter when we were walking out of a completely empty resturant at exactly 8:05 pm.100% empty dining room at 8:05? E M P T Y ! At 8:05! Huh? I can change that. My free advice follows: Lower those steak prices by 2 dollars per steak and fill the place! Your servers will make more in tips and you'll all live happily ever after! Trust me. I'm rooting for you Toms!

Kim C.

Yelp
Staff were very friendly from the moment we came in for lunch. We ordered the cream of chicken soup and Queen filet mignon. The homemade soup was delicious! So delicious we bought more to take home. The filets were the best I've had in a long time. Cooked perfectly, no fat and so tender. We will definitely be back!

Harry R.

Yelp
They charge Prime prices for substandard steaks. In a recent visit with family, I ordered the Bone In Ribeye. When the Manager came over to ask how the meal was, I showed him a plate full of gristle. His response was to send over a small glass of Rice Pudding for the table of 4. I paid the bill only because it was a special occasion for my family and I did not want to create a fuss. This was now the second time in 3 months this hsppened.

Yelp
Terrific old times steakhouse. Wonderful 1950s atmosphere. Amazing service. Huge steaks. Loved it!

Yelp
Drove by this place for years and wondered!!!! So happy I stop in as its mark starts as soon as you are welcomed. The venue has a touch that screams authenticity of another time with a charcoal grill steak of amazing taste. The friendly welcome starts with the hostess. The service and server helped to ensure the food is served with good quality. The staff is also very helpful when it comes to food selection. The salad dressing is highly flavorful when you mix them. House dressing is an understatement!!! I was ready to order a second salad. The meat cooked the way I wanted. I am brining a large group to have an amazing time in their banquet area. My first place to eat steak now over the other well known restaurants. This place screams family owned!!! Love it. New favorite!!!

BatteryService I.

Yelp
Went there for a Christmas Dinner recently and lets just say this isn't a place to go to have fun and be energetic. Crowd is primarily Caucasian and older. Older people who don't like to hear cursing. If you want to go for a good time don't go!!!!! You wont fit in. Also the food wasn't that great for those prices.

Yelp
Great staff Betsy who's been there 40 years and absolutely sweetheart memory not all that great but then again, neither is the food. My ribeye was very tough although my friends prime rib was delicious the atmosphere is a lot of fun and supposedly al Capone used to eat there. I'll take Gibson's by the airport Over this place.

Yelp
We recently had our mother's post funeral luncheon at Tom's Steakhouse. We were amazed and delighted at how smoothly everything went. We had 120 guests, which was a higher attendance than we anticipated. Every one of our guests raved at how wonderful the food was and how gracious and welcoming the service provided to us was. Tom and his staff did an outstanding job of making a difficult day for our family, as easy and comforting as it possibly could have been. We owe them an abundance of gratitude.

John F.

Yelp
Excellent service & coffee. Baked potatoes were decent. My sister's chopped steak was solid. I got a medium well burger; one side of it was burned. The mushroom soup was decent campbell's level quality. Ordered a half slab to go; seemed dry and not very meaty. Maybe the expensive steaks would have been better...

Yelp
Came here for lunch while celebrating my grandmother's 96th birthday. The staff was really nice, very accommodating and did an excellent job keeping up with pur large party. However, the food was just ok. I really wanted to love this place since the staff was so nice but the food just wasnt satisfying. There was no flavor. I didn't finish my food because it wasn't worth the calories. I'd give them another try but I definitely wouldn't order the same thing (Greek salad, grilled oysters).

Yelp
Tom's Steak House should have 5 stars! Their customer service are top-notch and exceptional. All of their staff was great, nice, attentive, and did their job properly. All of their dishes here was perfectly seasoned, generously portioned, and everything was made to perfection. Their menu is huge and their pricing was fair. Great spot to bring your friends and family. Their location was accessible and they are also near to other popular places around the area. Can't wait to go back again and pay a visit!

Yelp
OMG, I'm done with this place. Literally took two hours to get our dinner. Server was nice and showed up once in a while. Food was good once it showed up. We had to order two bottles of wine to keep us happy. Get your act together.

Jodi D.

Yelp
The most amazing meal EVER!!! Went for our anniversary and Lily took excellent care of us- there was not one thing that I would change about that meal and experience! And the price was a STEAL!! I'll be back again and again Thank you to Tom's Steakhouse. Their food and service are unbeatable!!!

Jacque R.

Yelp
My wife & I just moved to the area and heard great things about this Steakhouse. It delish and we are def going back.

Yelp
Driving up to the restaurant it seems more like the lobby of a motel than a restaurant. So, you might drive past if you don't see the sign. The vibe of the place is something out of those cliché mob movie restaurants. I felt underdressed in a Henley and Jeans. Next time I will at least wear something with a collar. Everyone was friendly and respectful from the moment we walked through the door. The Service was obviously important to them and it showed. Our server went above and beyond by asking the Chef about ingredients in one of their dishes. I won't bore you with the details but suffice it to say, I got to have flaming cheese when I usually don't get cheese at all. I had an old fashion that was perfect with my steak that was cooked to a perfect medium rare.

Yelp
Top notch ... I passed this place all the time.. I never would have imagined that it was as good as it was.. passing it on North avenue you just kind of looks like a normal steakhouse But when you get inside you experience fine dining. We had the pleasures of Lily serving my father and I . We started off with the saganaki and Oyster Rockefeller.. the oyster Rockefeller I believe it was made with spinach butter and I think they added dill to it which was an excellent combination.. then we ordered the twin tail lobster which was tender, buttery... The baked potato was accompanied by a whipped sour cream and chive and I also ordered a Bermuda onion.. and by surprise just the plain old chicken sandwich. Now I eat chicken everyday and that was one juicy flavorful piece of chicken..... I was really impressed ...not only by the food but The way that this restaurant is ran... It seems that the server are very trained and very interactive with a serving of dinner.. from deboning the fish, cutting the potato.. to putting the au ju on the steak ......it is a little pricey but You definitely did get your money's worth from the ambiance to the service to the food.. usually I leave a restaurant and say yeah that was good but would I go back there? Probably not but this restaurant I'm going back there in 2 weeks for my dad's birthday. Thank you Lily again for a wonderful experience. Thank you, Tom steakhouse..

Yelp
Stepping into this restaurant is like stepping into a time machine, circa 1990. Classy and retro do not even begin to describe the vibes. Don't let that fool you because the food and service was above and beyond expectations. Sure there are better steakhouses but this one was just what the doctor ordered. Try the prime rib, very good!

Ed B.

Yelp
Food, service ambiance is all perfect. I highly recommend this restaurant. You will love it.

Yelp
We ordered a couple of ribeyes last week because we heard they had excellent steaks. Plus, it was a Thursday night and no one felt like cooking. Reviews said it's the best in town and I've passed it 1000 times. I can't lie. The cooking temp was perfect. I'll give them that but the flavor was severely lacking. We make much better steaks at home honestly. The staff is very friendly.

Yelp
For dinner, my husband & I went to Tom's Steakhouse In Melrose Pk, it's been around a year since we've been there last, and I always order their baby back ribs, and they always serve the bbq sauce on the side, plus the usual baked potato. and salad w/carrousel of dressings. Joe ordered the king filet w/mushrooms. I was so disappointed in the ribs, they are a cheaper grade, tough, and they have a different dark, and thick bbq sauce slathered all over! A mess to eat. I asked the waitress, when did they start putting bbq sauce on the ribs, she claims it's always been like that, she was new. For 40+ years we've gone to Tom's, always excellent quality! My husband said his Filet was delicious. I understand prices are inflated, but damn --give the people what they expect!

Yelp
Tom's never fails to satisfy. We went on Saturday night and enjoyed it immensely. My wife had the Queen Cut Filet Mignon with soup and baked potato. I had the raw oysters, salad and the king cut prime rib and it was excellent. Tom's never disappoints, we will keep coming back!
google avatar

Judy G.

Yelp
My husband and I both ordered the orange roughy, and it was outstanding! Our friend ordered the barbecue ribs, and could not stop raving about them! Our waitress, Michelle was exceptionally nice and very attentive to our every need. My only complaint was my salad, which was mostly iceberg lettuce, a little wilted and soggy with dressing. Definitely will go back, but will not order a salad.

Nancy N.

Yelp
Food was cold. Restaurant was cold. Bad service. Had to track waitress down multiple times.

Kate G.

Yelp
I enjoyed the New York steak. i will will comeback next time to order some wine with the steak to enjoy the meal more needing to go back to work.

Steve W.

Yelp
Been going to Tom's for years. It's an Old Time Steakhouse. Never a bad Meal. Service is always excellent. Unfortunately the Andy the bartender is no longer there. He was the Best.
google avatar

Steve S.

Yelp
Delicious. Just a classic old school Chicago Steak experience where you will walk in and half expect to remove the plastic coverings from your dinning room chair. All the food was amazing, started with a little Saganaki....OPA!, Salad with enough dressing on the side to feed the whole Northwest side, a Filet cooked to an absolute prefect Med Rare and desert a Brandy Ice. Wow! Scared to look at the scale this AM after this feast but that aside I decided if I'm ever on death row, I'll be requesting this line up as my last meal.

Yelp
This was our first time at Tom's Steakhouse. Expect to spend about $50 per person. My husband and I ordered the T-Bone steak. It was tender and delicious. There was a bit of grizzle and fat though. The waitresses were not overly friendly and the service was very slow.
google avatar

Suzanne B.

Yelp
I came here for a luncheon service which was hosted in a party room on the side. Our party was adequately staffed with the waitresses frequently checking on our drinks and offering refills. The food itself had some stars and some room for improvement in my opinion- Cream of broccoli soup- served hot and tasty Salad- iceberg based (blech!!), but their homemade dressings were awesome and really helped the flavor of the salad. Filet mignon- I noticed they came out in various stages of char- mine was probably at the top level of char, which made it hard to enjoy the flavor of the steak itself, but the meat was tender. I didn't love how it's served in all its juices and then had to put green beans on the same plate. It just got kinda messy. Baked potato- large, and OMG is their cheese and chive topping amazing! Instead of a typical sour cream, this was cream cheese and offered an incredible savory kick. Tiramisu- Enormous, good to share, also delicious. The edges were like a cookie but so light and crumbly (in a perfect way). SOOO good. Overall it was a solid experience and I would gladly come back again!

Fantastic! Old school steakhouse that's been around for many many years. Great quality food and service. Love this place.I just wish fries were an option as a potato instead of a separate side. Go here you won't be disappointed.

Yelp
I use to come here with family when I was younger and just made a stop in and remembered why I haven't come back here. Fancy looking place with kind staff but extremely overpriced and mediocre food. The restaurant was also very dead - almost no one was there. The staff was accommodating and tried to make things right with the food but 5/6 of the items I ordered were subpar at best. Won't be returning here again.

Yelp
Absolutely no taste to the food. Everything tasted either burnt or bland. Staff is truly the nicest though. Drinks are stronger than most. Very dated inside as well.

Yelp
I really wanted to give this place a higher rating because of the cool 1950's nostalgia and decor. It opened in 1952, and has what seems to be the exact same decor and layout from that time. The clientele is older and I think that's what draws the same crowds back. I met my mom here at about 6:30 on a Friday night because we've been told that they had great steaks here. We were meeting two other people so we grabbed a drink at the bar. The bartender was nice and greeted us right away but it took about 20 minutes for her to close out my tab. They had an old machine that stamped the drink amounts on a piece of paper instead of a normal receipt which took the extra time for everyone to close out. There was over 30 people at the bar and one bartender so another bartender would have gone a long way. Our service wasn't the best I've had. We sat for a long time before someone came by and didn't receive a friendly welcome. Our server was visibly overwhelmed and stressed out. We were seated in a booth by the bar so I'm not sure how the service is in the actual dining area, but they needed a lot of help by our area. My mom and I ended up getting burgers because we weren't feeling steak anymore. My mom ordered hers well-done and I ordered mine medium. Hers came out medium rare and mine came out almost rare. It took about 15 minutes for us to track down any server to explain their mistake. You would expect at a steak house that they would know the difference between rare and well-done. She didn't want to make a big deal about sending it back but I explained the mistake to the first server I could find. She was understanding and brought it back right away. What stood out to us most is that the burger was reserved with the bites in the meat and buns. They didn't make a new patty or even bother to give her a new bun. That was disappointing and unsanitary. My burger was okay. The meat had a good flavor and was served hot but the lettuce was wet so it made the whole burger sloppy. It was one of the girls birthday's in our group so we asked for the chocolate cake for dessert. Our server instead brought out a pre-made white cake with white frosting. It was an interesting substitute and wasn't worth the comment of bringing it back. The cake decorations looked nice but the cake was dry, tasted a bit stale, and not what we asked for. We couldn't help but laugh at that point. If I came back here I'd try the dining room area but not sure if or when that would be. Better luck for other diners!

Yelp
Tom's has new owners !!! Definitely not the same or better. Gone is the top notch bartender who could make every drink known to man. Other customers were commenting the same. High class look is gone. Sloppy jeans and unskilled workers have replaced the classy ladies that graced this once legendary steak house. Sad. We stayed for 15 minutes and proceeded to another restaurant.

Yelp
THIS PLACE REMEMBERS HOW TO COOK A STEAK! I enjoyed the King cut Fillet, Medium Rare. Cooked perfect, baked potato was also great! Our server was really friendly, Andy makes the best drinks ever! Try one!! The house-made dressings are also great. I will recommend anyone with a taste for steak - GO TO TOM's!!!

Yelp
I haven't been here for many years, very old school, kinda what I remembered it was, ( in a good way ) My arrival was early evening, no one was really there. I was greeted by a cheerful bartender ( Michelle ) Being solo, I like sitting at the bar. Wanted a good meal and chilled day, just away from the world, that's all. I started with the oyster Rockefeller, ABSoLutely delish!!! Took my time eating- the portion was quite generous. Apparently their system is set up》if you order food the bartender is obsolete! Now a server steps in. I try to give the benefit of the doubt but....? Wth? She touched me numerous of times calling me doll and sweetie?! Huh? For the amount I paid for my meal, I thought respect was the desert. I ordered the bone in ribeye for dinner and it came without the 'bone.... after a short check back I expressed to my server- Whooosh next thing I know the manager popped up making a seen, " did we forget to leave the bone out, when we cut around it?" My mind thinking, what are you talking about?! Finally he asks do you wanna different steak with bone in it... ummm yeah, that's what I ordered. The steak comes out with the ' bone in it but, cold, the server pours this, super hot AuJu on top. My dinning experience sucked!!! I drove 40 mins too feel like I didn't matter! I waited about 25 mins for my steak -medium ( the new one" my bone in ribeye) Never got offered an apology, a drink, desert, % off... NOTHING! NEVER GOING BACK AGAIN....so disrespectful.... and unprofessional- just rude......

Yelp
Toms is by far the worst steakhouse I have ever been to. I'd rather go to Longhorns or Outback before I return to this place. The staff wasn't friendly. Walked around without a sense of urgency and no smile. Our waitress didn't have a welcoming attitude with us. We started off with their shrimp de jhonge. And was way overpriced. $15 for 4 pieces of shrimp. I'm not going to lie, it was delicious and probably the best part of our dinner but still feel that it's overpriced. I've been to plenty of steakhouses who serve a good pork chop, however Toms is not want of them. The pork chop came with apple sauce on the side and felt canned not homemade. Now I know why they pour the meat juices over their steaks and chops. They know before hand that their entrees are going to be very dry. No flavor. Poorly seasoned. My wife's kings filet mignon also lacked flavor. She ordered medium and got rare. I left very unsatisfied for what I had to pay and the product that they served us. Definitely won't be returning.

Yelp
Tom's maintains the vibe of a 60's Era steakhouse. The steaks are served tableside off a cart, kept warm by hot coals. It's the only place I know that still has the old school salad dressing carousel (garlic, Russian, thousand island). Like stepping back in time.

Yelp
Place is dated and kinda gross. What really did it was when the waitress Gina scratched her Crack, went into the kitchen for less than a minute, and then came out with our food. She touched our potatoes with her hands

Yelp
Returned to Tom's 6/18/21 to give it another try. Yes! Tom's food and service was better than ever. The prime rib and the filiet were tender, juicy and cooked perfectly. We used to come here a lot but after our bad experience we stopped coming. If the quality continues we will be regulars again.
