Been here a ton of times since it opened. Always thought it was fine. Staff was good, usually nice. But now...just wow. The second you make me feel tricked, you're cooked.
zero stars for the various bad changes they've made in the past year or so. Didn't notice that the new, cheesy, glossy drinks menu binder like something out of Applebees comes with no prices on them. I order my usual large of a certain cocktail. Like i said, been coming here for years. The price is always as expected.
Bill comes this time. They're charging me $25 (!!!!) for a weak drink made with well liquor and cheap sour mix. Absolute true story. I scramble to check the menus to find where it says a large--not a double, mind you, this is what they call a large--is $25.
Oh, look! It's not listed ANYWHERE. Absolute highway robbery. Sleazy tactics. I said hell no, i'm not paying that unless you can show me the price somewhere. Of course, they could not. i'm told sheepishly that yeah...they've recently raised prices. Yeah--but about 35% judging by this experience.
Come to find out I'm not the first to complain. They ended up taking the charge down to a regular and I tipped the person a little extra but watch yourself. Make sure you know the price of everything you're ordering up front.
I said to the server that for $25 I want a strong drink made with Patron, not this swill. Just got back from NYC where a huge, strong grey goose cosmo is $19 at a top restaurant. Why Tom's at Mohegan thinks they are going to get $25 out of me for this sugary juice drink is beyond me. The nerve.
The spinach dip, by the way, must come from some sort of mix because it was gritty, pasty, and pure salt--nothing ooey gooey about it, it was more of a paste. So i think someone forgot to add all the ingredients or something. Inedible. Should have sent it back but didn't want the hassle which I'm sure they count on. Shame this place used to be a decent place to hang for a bit for a drink and some apps. No more.
