Yelp
Tom's Watch Bar at the National Harbor is a tale of two experiences: bar and restaurant. The food, a 3* rating. My server, who happened to be the manager (Ania), offered friendly service which on a different day might have bumped my overall rating to a 4*. I appreciate her customer service. I dined here for lunch, right after doors opened, but prior to 12pm. It was virtually empty inside, however shortly after my apps arrived to the table, diners began to pile in. It's apparent Tom's gets foot traffic from tourists and convention attendees from the local Gaylord hotel who aren't necessarily familiar with the chain. The large venue space leads me to believe this place crowds during major sporting events similar to the customer traffic at their location at Navy Yard.
The food is OK, however, not equitable to the pricing. Mid-scale bar food. There is room for improvement in execution; the French fries and chicken sandwiches were both over-fried. The fish and chips were good, however, full transparency was given that the fish was not fresh and frozen. I was disappointed in the fact there is no booth seating available in the venue; at least not that I could see on the entire main floor. All high-chair and high-top tables which works great for a bar-focused atmosphere, I suppose. This place is not family-friendly; no kids menu, no smaller cups/glasses, high chairs, booster seats, etc. However, the manager did a great job of making a few uncustomary, family-friendly menu accommodations which I really appreciate. Not that Tom's needs to be family-friendly because after all, this is a sports bar, however I am just drawing comparison to other like kind, large-venue sports bars in the DMV and the fact it is located at National Harbor. I did not try any drinks, however, they have specials which I assume are valuable. Overall, an OK experience, however future visits will probably be focused on the bar experience. I will definitely return for sporting events in the future.
