A Guide to Ann Arbor’s Best Korean Restaurants - Eater Detroit

"Grilling meat and seafood over fire is the earliest cooking method and enjoyed around the world, so barbecue is a great introduction to Korean cuisine. Different cuts of thinly sliced meats including beef and chicken are available plain or marinated and then cooked on grills built into the tables. The barbecue is served with several dipping sauces and bowls of banchan, Korean side dishes of seasoned, steamed, and pickled vegetables. Beginners can’t go wrong with galbi (marinated beef short ribs), bulgogi (thin-sliced ribeye), or lightly-marinated chicken gui. Designed for sharing, Korean barbecue is a both an activity and a meal, which makes it great for group dinners." - John Reyes

Excellent choice for Asian cuisine. The restaurant is located conveniently among many other places worth checking out. The ambience is nice and cozy. The staff provide excellent service. The Hiyashi ramen is a type of chilled noodle that has a very refreshing and bright-flavored soy garlic broth, with braised pork belly, crabstick, soft-boiled egg, and crispy cucumber strips. The Curry udon (we substituted udon with soba) is an excellent choice, with the savory umami-filled curry base, tender beef slices, intensely flavorful and crispy tempura shrimp, and a touch of red Japanese pickle on top that brings out the other flavors pleasantly. We are truly satisfied customers - We had to come back a second time to try the other menu options. Will definitely return the next time we are in town. Highly recommend.

Google
We were looking for somewhere to eat when enjoying the Hash Bash festivities and decided to try out this noodle place. The food is amazing!!!!!!! We got the dumplings as an appetizer and they were stupendous 🤤 We also tried their lo mein stir fry and the flavor is out of this world!!! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED (especially when your high) 😂

Google
Came here on multiple recommendations. Ordered the house pho with the added pork Belly and my partner had the chicken pho. We were superbly underwhelmed. There was no flavor at all through the broth or the dish selected. The pork belly was bland, the meatballs and beef were bland. I added a half a bottle of their spicy sauce to bring flavor to the broth. We were disappointed in the overall flavor. Service was phenomenal there. Food just was a disappointment. Go to slurping turtle across the street. Way better flavors there.

Google
We had take out and the food was somewhat good but some of the noodles weren’t cooked all the way through and clumped together, so that could’ve been better. The rest was good.

Google
The food was excellent! Great portion size for the price, and excellent service! The spicy chicken Ramen and Chicken Pho were delicious!

Google
The food was pretty good. I loved the pork belly ramen. Wish there was a bit more variety. Did not like the seating, it was kind of uncomfortable and right by the door. Staff were nice, but seemed distracted. Overall, it was a good experience and I would eat there again.

Google
We were traveling through Ann Arbor and found this wonderful place. I got the Butter Corn Ramen which was absolutely amazing and it came in a HUGE portion. My husband enjoyed his ramen as well. We will absolutely be back!

Google
Very unique experience! Great open atmosphere. The staff was patient ( we had a large party) in explaining how the process went. We went with a combo. You do cook your own food so how fast you eat is up to the best cook at the table! Meat was great quality and tender. Would definitely recommend if you're looking for something different.

Yelp
Food and ambiance are great. It can get busy, but it's worth the wait. They offer a wide variety of Asian American dishes. While it is not authentic Asian food, it is still very tasteful and flavorful. I do wish the staff cared more beyond just taking orders and seating you. It doesn't feel like they are motivated to work for a tip. I enjoy taking friends to this establishment because of its convenience. Portions are generous, and the weekly lunch specials are perfect for those who want something different every day for $11, plus tip and tax.

Yelp
First time visiting Ann Arbor and Tomukun was one of the first places I had the opportunity to dine in. Plenty of seating inside with a very chill/casual vibe. Out of the ramen menu items, Tomukun ramen and the Butter Corn Ramen were recommended as the most popular items. In addition to these two, the staff personally recommended the slow roasted spicy beef ramen which I ended up ordering. I haven't tried many noodle/ramen restaurants in Michigan, but the slow roasted spicy beef ramen was by far the best ramen I have had in a while. The soup was extremely rich and you could distinctively taste the coconut milk that gave it a smooth, creamy aspect. Beef was slow cooked, so you can expect the beef to melt and fall apart as you bite into it. Veggies were fresh and noodles were solid. Lastly, portion size is by far much bigger than your average ramen bowl which is GREAT. Would recommend, and I'd like to hopefully stop by again to try other items next time.

Yelp
I was really excited to try this place after reading it was a destination spot for Ann Arbor and was specially looking forward to the duck udon on their menu. I ordered takoyaki to start off my meal and was greeted with four hard, but not inedible takoyaki given I'd just walked in from a four mile walk. Hard takoyaki should have served as a warning for what was coming when I received my duck udon. Usually when I order a soup, I like to first taste the broth to get a better sense of the building blocks behind my meal. I wish that I hadn't this time. I wouldn't say I was repulsed by the flavor, but the broth left a really bad taste in my mouth from the get-go giving off a very gamey and bitter aftertaste. The udon noodles themselves were lackluster and I could only stomach a small piece of the duck. Despite being really hungry I called it quits after just a couple of bites. Even with the small amount of food I ate, I couldn't get the lingering taste out of my mouth and I had to buy some gum until I was able to get back to my hotel to brush my teeth. With most of the dining options winding down for the night, I ended up going to a local pizza spot to grab a couple of squares which somewhat made up for a bad experience.

Yelp
This place is nice in downtown Ann Arbor near Michigan Theater. They had a good children menu we got my daughter the chicken katzu. We enjoyed the ramen and pho bowls and spring rolls. Nice ambience. Service was good as well.

Yelp
The waiters and waitresses are extremely nice and friendly Food is ok, my soba noodles portion is not as big as my boyfriend's ramen and that's the only concern of mine. Generally great place for Japanese noodles

Yelp
Tomukun is my favorite restaurant back home. I can't believe I can't find any photos I've taken here. I get the Butter corn Ramen with the chicken on the side & every time I am always so happy! It's so yummy and full of different flavors! I also always get the Dumplings, so delicious! I've been recently getting the Pork Bao Buns, and they're good but not the best Bao buns I've had. The service is always top notch and the food comes out pretty quickly. There isn't a lot of seating so sometimes the waits are long but if you have time, it's worth it since it's easy to walk around Ann Arbor with friends. It is very cozy inside since it's pretty small. I love Tomukun!

Yelp
After living in Ann Arbor for a few years, I finally tried Tompkins after hearing all the hype! The service was very quick and the staff seemed very well informed on the menu. Note to some- all of the broths for the ramen are apparently pork based, but they are able to do a beef based broth upon request. For me, the food was very average. I may have ordered the wrong item to judge upon, but the beef was well flavored. Besides the beef, the flavors weren't my favorite. The physical space is very tiny, so I recommend going at a less busy time as you may be otherwise waiting in a long queue.

Yelp
Hot, fresh and flavorful. Perfect for a cold Michigan day. Very generous portions. I always end up taking some home. The service is friendly and quick. Not a huge area to sit as a group but there is a nice bar. Unfortunately this visit I forgot to take picture of everything. I do have a picture of my favorite item. The chicken wings... I could literally drink the sauce they put on the wings. The wings are super crunchy and saucy. Delicious.

Yelp
I Loveeeee Tomunkun. Located in the heart of downtown Ann Arbor, Tomunkun is a small restaurant with very limited seating. There are two sides of the restaurant the noodle bar and the Korean bbq side. I only ever tried the noodle bar which you can't go wrong with. I was accompanied by 3 friends and we all sat at the bar. We shared two bottles of Soju. A grape flavor and a strawberry flavor soju. It's like vodka just a little less strong. I also ordered the dumplings which you can never go wrong with. They were crispy to perfection and the dipping sauce is everything ‍. I don't anted to try something new so I got Pho basic and I was not displeased at all. The broth was super tasty and the lime added an extra taste to it that I didn't know would need it. My noodle bowl also came with two type of sauces that could be mixed inside one was a sriracha sauce and the other I have no clue but it was so good. A great pairing with the noodles. I do not live in Ann Arbor but I always enjoy coming to Tomunkun when I do visit 10/10

Yelp
It's been a while since I've been to Tomukun. I remember it always being busy and the food was pretty good. This time around I got in with no wait and the food came out pretty quick. I ordered the duck ramen and it didn't taste as good as the last time I remembered. It was pretty plain and under seasoned. There were very small pieces of shredded duck that tasted plain. There were three pieces of asparagus that were cut in half. The bowls seem to also have gotten smaller also but my meal did fill me up. Prices have definitely gone up since last time I've been here as well. Not sure if the ramen changed or it was just off that day.

Yelp
We wandered in during a football game day Saturday, but there were plenty of open tables and places to sit. We had no problem getting seated right away, though the QR codes on the table aren't obvious (Plus - they were looking a little rough) and weren't explained by our host. We ordered the pork buns to start, and, if we don't plan to order them again if we come back. There really just wasn't anything special about them. Not memorable, plus the ramen portion was plenty of food. The ramen itself was a soild hit. The tonkotsu ramen was a solid staple. Good broth. Good bounce in the noodles. Classic choice that didn't feel too heavy. The pho ramen really surprised us. We ended up liking it much better than we thought we would, though the classic Tomukun was still better at the end of the day. Overall, we had a positive experience. We'll check it out if we're in the area again, though I'm not sure we'd rate it highly enough as a "Go out of your way to come here" vibe. If you're walking past, peek in the window and see open tables, might as well take the opportunity to try it out. Otherwise, I think there are a few more interesting places to eat in Ann Arbor.

Yelp
Tomukun in Ann Arbor is my absolute favorite go-to ramen spot! The ramen here always hits the spot with its rich, flavorful broth and fresh ingredients. The portions are large, ensuring you leave completely satisfied and full. The ambiance is warm and inviting, making it the perfect place to enjoy a comforting bowl of ramen. Whether you're a ramen enthusiast or just in need of a delicious, hearty meal, Tomukun is the place to be. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Service was good. Lots of people working. Ambiance was hip chill. Food not so great. Noodle place should have good basic broth. We started with seafood pancake. Family enjoyed it. It was filled with mostly crabmeat and not real seafood. The pork katsu was too thin and a bit dried out but was somewhat enjoyable. Kimchi ramen don't order this. It was a bowl of mush. It was kinda stewed ground pork bowl of goopy spiced ramen. The barely broth had no real flavor. My son ate just a little. And he usually finishes all his food. I ordered Hiyashi ramen a cold noodle dish. It was basically a noodle salad floating in soy vinegar sauce. There was a bunch of romaine lettuce hidden under noodles. I had like two bites. It was not good. Might have tolerated it if noodles were fresh and tender. The pho deluxe broth was basic. Not great for a "noodle" place. It was overwhelming loaded with green onions cilantro floating on top. The beef slices were tough not tender. If you can't get it anywhere else, this I guess was a better choice on the menu compared to other things we ordered. We spent a lot of money half the meal was not edible. Not a place to be for some delicious foodie. But I'm glad to see that others seem to like this place and have some positive reviews.

Yelp
Visited this restaurant for dinner in Ann Arbor while we were on our way to Detroit. It's located right in downtown of the university town. Started off with Peach flavored Soju that I absolutely loved! We did Pan fried pork dumplings as an appetizer. They were okay and not very flavorful, a bit bland. Next we ordered Green Curry Udon (first time trying Udon and absolutely loved it!). Basically, thick noodles in green curry which was coconut based and had vegetables and fried Tilapia. Loved the preparation. The portion size was pretty good and was enough for 2 people. We were debating to get another entree, but glad we didn't! We had also ordered a Diet Coke, but the server totally forgot about it and still added it to our invoice (facepalm). We had to ask them to have it removed. Overall, pretty pocket-friendly place (~$35 for 2 people).

Yelp
Modern ambiance. And servers were friendly and attentive. It's not far from public parkings. The noodles was ok for me. The Soup was pretty blunt also. Over all it was lacking some flavors. But if you never had Raman in Japan then you'd probably enjoy it. It's just different than authentic ramen. On the other hand I enjoyed okonomiyaki, it was crunchy outside and cheesy inside. I enjoyed it.

Yelp
Disclaimer: no pics (was too famished to click pics) Was visiting Ann arbor for the holidays with friends and wanted to check out Tomokun reading the reviews, the first time we went the waiting was an hour and so we skipped it, the next day we got our names in and pretty soon I understood why the waiting times were so long! To say that the food was delicious is an understatement and the portion size is pretty huge! Unaware of the portion size we each order soups and lo mein! None of us could finish off anything we ordered to say the least, their portions should be featured in man vs food! We did box most of the lo mein and rice that we ordered. But honestly the food was so good we neither regretted ordering individual portions nor the left overs we snarfed down the next day If only Ann Arbor wasn't 3 hrs out I'd probably go there every weekend just for the lo mein!

Yelp
Unfortunately this place is overpriced and has no gluten free options. The meat was not good and should come with more sides as options. We usually love Korean BBQ but we're disappointed with this place. Positives: Staff was very nice and we were seated right away.

Yelp
Tomukun used to be a favorite spot of mine (and my family when they'd come to visit). On wintery Michigan evenings (or afternoons), Tomukun is the perfect stop for a hot bowl of ramen noodles and some starters like pork belly bao buns, asian BBQ wings, or pan-fried dumplings. Every time I go, I never fail to order the same ramen bowl... the butter corn ramen with crispy chicken! I love the variety in texture and the sweetness of this particular ramen. I have to knock Tomukun down a star due to my most recent visits in the last few years. The interior/decor hasn't changed since I started coming 9 years ago, and it is starting to show. It's often cold inside -- usually from the doors constantly opening/closing and blowing cold air into the dining room and the seating is not very comfortable (backless bar seats, bench seating). I would love to see them put a little love into their atmosphere, like they have with the Lab next store!

Yelp
I went here in a party of 5 and 4/5 people were unsatisfied with their dinner. I had the tomukun ramen and the broth was flavorless. The noodles were nothing special, and the pork belly was tough. I also asked for a soft boiled egg, and the waiter said that was not do-able. Why is that not possible? My girlfriend had similar complaints with her pho ramen, as it was also bland and the cilantro was wilted. The service as well was terrible. My girlfriend's water glass sat empty and we left before it was filled again. (we also were not given straws.) We waited 15 minutes for the check, and we asked for it twice. The servers acted very bothered whenever we asked for something. We also had to prompt our server twice for boxes, and when we asked for bags he let out an exasperated sigh. I'm extremely disappointed with this place. I was hoping tonight would be a good food night, and unfortunately it was only a good company night. I hope that this restaurant is able to learn and grow, but I won't find out because I will never be coming again. Update: 2/5 people have found hair in their leftovers that did not belong to them. Absolutely abysmal.

Yelp
I visited Tomukun Noodle Bar on Monday, 5/15/23, during dinner time. For the appetizers, I tried the Dumplings and Shrimp Summer Rolls. Both items were tasty and did not disappoint. The dumplings were deep-fried to perfection and the rolls were light and refreshing. I also ordered the House Pho. The bowl was so filling, I couldn't finish the entire meal. What I liked most about the House Pho was the flavor of the broth and the amount of meat that came with it. All in all, this restaurant truly has flavorful food. I recommend coming here.

Yelp
I am usually a bit wary when it comes to pan-Asian restaurants, because usually it means that there isn't a specific thing the restaurant specializes in. Also, focusing on one particular cuisine suggests a respect for that cuisine and its traditions. Unfortunately, the ramen at Tomukun wasn't my favorite. I ordered the butter corn ramen. The broth felt very simplistic and one note, almost just like an overly sweet dashi broth. I also tried my partner's duck ramen, and I had a similar reaction. The soup was missing complexity, the hours and hours of simmering and layers of flavor that characterize a good ramen broth. I also didn't really understand putting the fried chicken directly into the soup, where it immediately became soggy before I had the chance to eat it. I might have just ordered the wrong things? On the plus side, it was a very generous portion of food, and though I wasn't able to finish it, I ended up taking most of it home. Also, service was great! It was clean and a well kept place!
google avatar

Yelp
Ok I may be biased because I have one meal here I am obsessed with and it's the butter corn ramen. I am a picky eater and I LOVE IT. They always have good service, good drinks and also AMAZING dumplings. The dumplings are only $4 too!!? The Soju! OOO it's just so cheap for a whole pitcher and it's strongggg and TASTY! I recommend passion fruit for the soju. Anyways, they always box the order for us without even asking and we have never waited too long for the amount of times we've been here. (By waiting I meant once we are seated. They usually have a wait to get in but worth it.)
google avatar

Annick G.

Yelp
Tomokun is definitely worth a visit! Every time I have gone, the food has been delicious. Everything is very flavorful and fresh! They also have a nice variety of options (lots of vegetarian dishes too). The potions are generous, making for great leftovers :) The one downside to Tomokun is that it's a fairly small space and they don't take reservations. You might have to wait for a table, but it's well worth it!

Yelp
Despite mixed reviews, our visit to this ramen spot on a Tuesday night was 10/10! We read some negative reviews on service and food, but our experience was the complete opposite. We ordered the spicy chicken ramen & butter corn ramen. The spiciness of the chicken ramen hit the spot for me, delivering what I was craving. Even though the chicken was a bit soggy, I understood that the hot broth contributed to it, and it didn't bother me at all. The butter corn ramen was a perfect blend of flavors. Meat was super soft and the egg was cooked perfectly. The service was efficient, and our server was friendly, adding to the positive experience. Shoutout to our server for not rushing us when we were the last ones! I definitely recommend checking the wait time during busy hours. The place is cozy but seating is limited!

Yelp
Poor service two times in a row. The host is awful. Same one both times weeks apart awful. Rude. Not helpful. Do not take kids here they are not accommodating. Food isn't good either. Bummer because it was convenient for us. Not coming back.
google avatar

Rose M.

Yelp
I haven't been here in a while so I popped in after I had a doctors appointment one afternoon. It was pretty busy, but when isn't it? I took a seat at the bar and they use the QR code to scan for the menu. I love to start off with the shrimp summer rolls. Always a classic appetizer and they make a really good dipping sauce here. My old trusty standby here is the tomukun ramen with pork belly and an extra egg. I don't know what it is about the broth here but it is so good and was perfect for a chilly December night. The place gets packed but they turn tables over pretty quick. Always a great place to grab ramen in the Ann Arbor area!

Emily U.

Yelp
Tomukun never disappoints. My go to is the chicken pho and it is like a big warm bowl of chicken noodle soup but even better. The depth of flavor is incredible and the portions are huge.
google avatar

Abby B.

Yelp
While we didn't order any noodles at Tomukun, we did love everything else we tried. Takoyaki (not pictured), okonomikayi, and the pork katsu were all great. And the portions were generous - we took home some leftovers. We can't wait to come back and order some ramen when it's not 90 degrees!

Yelp
First time dining and wasn't sure where to start but luckily my dining partner is a pro. Started off with dumplings and spicy Entree - Chicken Bibimbop and spicy baby octopus Good place for first date (firsthand experience now!)

Kyna V.

Yelp
This is my favorite kbbq place ever! They start you off with a salad which comes with a unique spicy vinaigrette dressing. It's one of the best salads I have ever had. They also bring you a variety of appetizers. The menu offers combos on their meats. The meats are well marinated and are very delicious. Their service is excellent and they offer you help with managing the grill. This place has a nice modern ambiance, perfect for a casual meal for sure. Don't come here if you are super duper hungry though, you still have to cook your food and that might make you hangry lol but it's all part of the experience! (or order more appetizers if you must)

Yelp
So glad Ann Arbor's Asian food scene is the most developed it's ever been! And Tomokun is one of the restaurants that has moved the needle in the right direction. Came here on a pleasantly sunny weekend evening around 5:45pm without reservations and glad we did bc there weren't many open seats left outside (3-4 smaller table for outside dining) in about 15 min after we arrived. The restaurant is split into two parts, Korean bbq on the left and noodles on the right. We ate at the noodle bar since I was in the mood for something lighter on a warm day. We ordered the Tomokun signature ramen, hiyashi ramen and hiyashi soba. All three were yummy, although not mind-blowing. The hiyashi soba was served with a light dashi broth--I feel like there was a touch of citrus in it, and was refreshing. The hiyashi ramen was served with a soy garlic dressing and their signature ramen came in a rich pork broth. Plenty of toppings and each bowl was a generous serving size too. The noodles were decent, and the whole experience did the job in terms of satiating my ramen craving. Service was friendly and pretty standard for these parts. I'd come again if I was in the mood for Asian food, maybe check out the bbq next time.
google avatar

Cara R.

Yelp
Staff were super nice! Small area with not much wiggle room. The tables are set up so you are shouldered next to strangers. I don't enjoy that especiallywhen the main food is something that gets slurpped. Sitting at the bar you have an uncomfortable stool with no back and no foot bar. We came here because it has amazing reviews. I ordered the Deluxe pho, pork buns to share and my husband got some sort of beef stir fried dish. He didn't care for his food at all. The pork buns were OK but I have had better at Miss Kim. The pork belly was hard to bite through and the bun wasn't as soft as it could have been. My pho was fine but I didn't care for the meatballs at all.

Yelp
One of my favorite restaurants in Michigan , they give you a giant soup for two that I eat myself, prices are reasonable and it's loaded with flavor , they've got tons of menu options and the food comes out minutes after you order, go here and tear it up , this place is right on , and they have way more than ramen

Kate F.

Yelp
I came here with a group of friends and was disappointed by both the food and service. The food was overall mediocre, but two guests in our party found hairs in their leftovers that did not belong to them. Our original server came once to set our food down, then never returned. We had difficulties flagging down other servers to refill our waters, and we had to ask for to-go boxes and our checks twice despite the restaurant not being overly busy. The servers seemed exacerbated by our requests and had an overall rude and unwelcoming disposition.

Yelp
Came here on my move in day to wind down after a long day. They were able to accommodate me on a Friday night with no wait! I've heard a lot of great places about this place and was pleasantly surprised. It's a bit loud and crowded so not the best place to bring parents or a quiet date night. The bao is delicious. The duck ramen was not what we thought it would be. It was a bit gamey for my taste. The soba noodles were refreshing but the crab meat and the egg seemed a bit out of place for me. I think some ground up daikon would be nice like the way soba is eaten. I would love to come back and try different noodles like their udon or their BBQ bar! TLDR: accommodating and fast, but loud. Food was okay but tons to come back and choose from!

Yelp
This is a must visit in Ann Arbor! This place offers both a noodle bar side and a Korean BBQ side, both are phenomenal! This place is always packed, so expect a little wait time, but there is plenty to see and do in the walkable area so you won't be bored. The food here is amazing, and I've yet to had any bad meal. The price of the food is average. Expect to spend $10-20 a person. The actual dining room of the noodle bar side is a bit small, so I wouldn't recommend large crowds to come here. You could have a nice experience with 4 people max, but larger parties have been present, just expect a longer wait time. The service here is great as well!

Yelp
I'm always a fan of this place. The good:-The food quality has always remained the same every time I go, and it tastes exactly how I remember it -The ramen is delicious (my favorite is the butter corn ramen) -The food comes out very fast The bad: -It's always so busy and always has a line -The prices The prices have slowly gone up every year to a point where it's now more of a trip to come here for lunch (or dinner). Though I think the food is great, sometimes it's hard to justify the price. I get the costs for inflation though. This place is always very busy, so I would come before the lunch/dinner rush, or expect to wait at least 30-45minutes. They do a very good job of keeping the traffic going (food comes out fast, servers are attentive, check comes quick after the food comes) though. Regardless of the wait or changes, I know for a fact I'll be back in the future.

Yelp
Discovered Tomukun Noodle Bar a few weeks ago and have been back every weekend since. Love the Pho Deluxe. Great flavor and a huge portion- I've taken leftovers home every time. Don't be afraid to add all the accompaniments- mint, basil, sprouts, jalapeños, and lime. The butter corn ramen is also a hit. Check out the pork or shrimp bun appetizers- soft, fluffy bun and so flavorful. Dumplings are deep fried and smoking hot. Summer rolls w/shrimp are light & refreshing. Seems to be always busy, but have never had a long wait to be seated. Service is quick & friendly.

Yelp
I've heard that this place was one of the best places to eat at around Ann Arbor. Perhaps I'm a bit pretentious but the ramen was subpar and for $15 - it was not worth the price at all. The broth for all of the ramens we tried tasted watered down and tasted like msg was added. The ramen noodles tasted like they were straight from instant ramen packets. There was an over abundance of onions/bean sprouts. For the beef ramen and creamy pork ramen specifically, it tasted more like Korean flavors than Japanese. We also had curry rice and it wasn't satisfying either. The only good thing were the shrimp tempuras added. The potatoes were just barely cooked and the rice was unbelievably mushy and compacted together.

Yelp
We enjoyed this Asian noodle restaurant after touring the U of Michigan campus. I had the katsu and it was pretty good and also came with large portions. My wife had the tonkatsu ramen and the bowl was very large and also had huge portions and generous amount of meat. However the ramen came out lukewarm which was very disappointing and kind of spoiled the meal. We didn't want to send it back and have them just put the bowl in the microwave and risk leeching that plastic bowl into the food so that was too bad. Overall, their prices aren't the best but they do give good portions.

Yelp
Tomukun is an absolute staple in Ann Arbor! They have all kinds of noodles ranging from ramen, pho, udon, and more. Some of my favorites include the tomukun ramen, house pho, and katsu and rice. They also have really good soju cocktails that are cheap and include good portions. Everything I get here is enough for 2 meals so I love it.

Yelp
INCREDIBLE food! probably the best calamari i have ever had! i got it with spicy mayo because it didn't include a sauce. it was so good. the service was good, my water was never below half way full the whole time. the atmosphere was warm & inviting. it is a small restaurant but not too crowded.

Yelp
Huge fan of their duck noodles. Great quick service, though the line can get a little long due to the limited seating. I've always come here for food after a cold round of golf and loved it - highly recommend their ramens and udons.

Yelp
The service was very good. And everyone was super friendly but the food was not good. I had the spicy ramen and it was missing all flavor. The beading of chicken became smooshy in the ramen very quickly. I used to love this place but the quality had changed

Yelp
Been here couple times. Not my favorite noodle place but its decent. They have a good variety on their menu - pho, ramen, upon and lo mein. The Yaki lo mein was pretty flavorful but could of done with some spice. I got with chicken which was super bland and tough. The beef Kara was a bit more flavorful but almost had a bitter taste. Others seem to like it so maybe I need to just try some other things on their menu?

Yelp
First timer to the noodle side and the food was quick & delicious. Highly recommend the Asian BBQ wings as well as the Salt & Pepper Calamari. They also have a great selection of import beers to choose from. The only negative that stood out to us was the some of the servicing strategies, just after we put in drinks and appy's a different person came over to ask if we're ready to put in an entree order. We didn't know if they knew that someone else already is waiting on us or if it was intentional to be keep it a hasty dinner. Food came super quick and was great, but after about 15 minutes of eating our entree's the server asked if we'd like them to box it up. Another strange indicator that we were being a little shoved to be move along. We said sure, and they take the food to box it up away in the back, but my huge bowl of broth and noodles was now a clear container that holds about half of what I had in my bowl and that was my leftovers. Again, just a strange servicing strategy. Place had great food and a wide range of options, I'd still recommend the establishment however, I hope the service experience is more positive next time.

Yelp
We have tried to eat here twice. Both times we ended up at Knights! Tomukun does not take reservations. We had a group of 8, so I called ahead. We were told to come in as there was no line. When we got there 30 minutes later, we were told the wait was 1 hour 45 minutes. The maître d remembered us calling, but rather rudely told us that while there wasn't a wait then, there was one now. ( the first time we left, it was because of a 2 hour wait). I can't tell you what the food is like, since I've never had it! Prices at Knights are higher than at Yomukun, but they missed out on a $400 tab. They have strange policies.

Yelp
Consistently one of my favorite restaurants in Ann Arbor! This is my top choice when I'm in the mood for delicious noodle soup. You can't go wrong with any of the ramen or udon dishes - the Tomukun ramen, spicy ramen, and butter corn ramen are my favorites. When I order the butter corn ramen, I like to get the chicken on the side separately so it stays crispy and sauced. I like to eat it separately while occasionally dipping the chicken into the broth while eating my meal. Yum! For side dishes, the tako yaki and summer rolls are solid choicest. The restaurant is somewhat small - I often see lines around peak meal times. You can dine in or take out your food. I prefer having my noodles and soup packed separately so the noodles don't get soggy, a request staff have been able to accommodate. Love this place, definitely recommend a visit here!

Yelp
I freaking LOVE THIS PLACE. My friend introduced me to it a couple years ago and I legit CANT STOP COMING! The food is authentic, delectable, and has a great variety. The service is quick and efficient, the servers are nice and do what is needed to make sure you have a good experience. I do enjoy sitting down in the booths because I like having a back to my chair, but I will often sit at the bar as well. The vibes are always amazing, and I love how the ambiance is modern with Korean influences which is one of the its so popular. Here are some pics of what I ordered today!
