It would be an understatement to call Tonari inviting; we were virtually hustled in off the street by the very friendly staff and walked through the menu, which is somehow both bewildering and comforting. Intense flavors - big mackerel slices, enough salmon roe to restock the Columbia, the fattiest beef tongue - are combined in ways that make what are often challenging dishes into food you would never have thought would be this comforting. The presentation is well thought out and they have their pandemic schtick down like no other restaurant I've seen. Overall a great dinner and, while certainly not cheap, money well spent.
