Tongabezi Lodge by Green Safaris

Our family of 4 (two adults and 2 teenage girls) from Brooklyn, NY had the most wonderful time at Tongabezi Lodge. Our only complaint was that our 2 days was just not enough! From the moment we arrived we experienced nothing but the warmest most radical hospitality imaginable. The manager greeted us and instructed us to the staff. Our personal Valet Jato was so lovely and showed us our incredible rooms and the spectacular property. My husband and I stayed in the Nut House, which was very luxurious. Our 2 daughters stayed in the tree house which is totally open. They loved the sense of adventure and even braved the bugs. Brian our guide was fabulous and arranged for us to visit the falls on both the Zambia and Zim sides also also experienced Devil's pool, which was thrilling. He also took us to the nearby park where we say buffalo and rhino. The food is amazing and the Tongabezi team thinks of every detail to make your stay special - from rotating tables so you get different views, to a free welcome massage, to a memorable sunset cruise. Each and every person we encountered - including the chef, the barman, the groundskeepers and all the staff greeted us warmly and made us feel at home. We can't recommend this place enough and hope to return some day to see some of the things we missed - like the organic garden and the village and school. Don't hesitate to experience this wonderful place!

Amazing experience. Outstanding service - personalization of every single minute. Walking safari to see rhinos. Good food. I would only adapt the Livingstone island trip to make it more exclusive

A stunning lodge in the most beautiful of locations on the banks of the mighty Zambezi. Staff are attentive to all needs. Shout out to Emmanuel the superb chef who catered to all our dietary needs including celiac. Chrish and Jato looked after everything we wanted. Koffee and Fixion were brilliant guides. Thank you to the whole team! A definite recommend.

I'm a bit lost for words in a good way. Tongabezi was simply incredible in every possible way and at every turn. We stayed in the Nut House and I can't even begin to explain...go to the website and look at the pictures. Now take that level of accommodation and view, and apply it to the people, the food, the grounds, the service, the monkeys, the birds, and every aspect of the lodge. The cruise on the river was just beyond and presented us with a giraffe experience never to be forgotten. A private tour of the gardens while harvesting ingredients was wonderful and eclipsed when the chef created our private lunch at a special garden kitchen and table. I strongly recommend a visit to the nearby village of Simonga to gain perspective on humanity and rural African life. The children there will change your life. Oh how I long to return and relive it all again.

We had the most memorable stay and experience at Tongabezi Lodge. |We stayed in late August for 3 nights. It was peaceful and relaxing .|The weather was perfect!|The views of the Zambezi were spectacular! |All of the staff were so thoughtful , friendly and professional. Natasha and Charles looked after us so well. |We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Tongabezi Trust School. |Natasha organised and anticipated our every need, including our beautiful room 'The Nut House ", and all of our delicious and fresh food with the chefs and staff. |Chef Emmanuel and the garden manager gave us the ultimate farm-to-table experience in their garden kitchen.|Charles was an excellent guide and driver with extensive knowledge . |We enjoyed the Falls and Devil's Pool, sunset and silent cruises, and sunset drinks with some other guests on the Sand Island. Our first game drive and walk to the White rhinos. |We would love to visit again. |Thankyou to all the fabulous staff and Green Safaris , Abby and I were so lucky to have such a tremendous stay at Tongabezi !

We returned to this beautiful lodge and had another lovely stay. Charles our guide and Cornelius did a wonderful job of taking care of us. All the staff were so friendly and helpful. I love the setting on the edge of the Zambezi. We visited the school and had such a lovely welcome there. Treated to lunch in the vegetable garden, food was superb. Would recommend this lodge - first class experience.

There is a reason why Tongabezi is said to be the best camp in the Victoria Falls area...because it has to be. The camp is reached following an unprepossessing drive through scrubland but, on arrival, is a paradise on the banks of the Zambesi. The staff are exceptional, nothing is too much trouble and they go out of their way to ensure one has a memorable stay, taking time to arrange a schedule of activities tailored exactly to what one wants to see. Everything they do is calculated to make one feel special. Our guide, Charlie, was delightful company taking us to see the Victoria Falls and guiding us through the chaos of the border crossing to see the Falls from the Zimbabwe side...all part of the fun. He also took us on a game drive where we saw Rhinos although the rest of the wildlife available to see (no predators in this area) was a little underwhelming having come from the Okavanga Delta. The hotel (it seems wrong to call it a camp) is spread out over a large area and we enjoyed exploring the kitchen garden for which an gardener appeared as if by magic and gave us an impromptu tour. Every night our dinner was served in a different location on the grounds and on one occasion we were taken on a boat to a deserted island across the river for a secluded lunch for two. The river cottage was very comfortable (excellent shower) and we had a large deck overlooking the river. It was hard to leave this beautiful place.

Tongabezi Lodge is such a special romantic hideaway. We stayed for 4 nights in one of the houses which had an amazing view of the river surrounded by nature's sights and sounds and the uniquely beautiful African sunsets.||We were assigned a butler, Aggrey and driver/guide, Mubita. Together they were a wonderful team, anticipating our needs, laying on surprise lunches and dinners in different locations as well having the patience to talk to us on all manner of subjects. |We also had the pleasure of visiting the organic herb and vegetable garden where we picked and cooked or own greens. The Head Gardner, Mr Chantella's knowledge, insight and vision were truly inspiring. We even got handy gardening tips 🙂. The team of chefs prepared delicious meals using all the local fresh produce.|We have travelled extensively around the world and the service level and hospitality at Tongabezi has to be one of the best.||A big thank-you to the whole Tongabezi team for an unforgettable stay. it was the perfect end to our 'around the Zambia' trip which started off in Lusaka, followed by the 3 big national parks and ended in Lvingstone. We would love to come back and visit.
