IMHO, Tonic is the best kept 'secret' in Boulder. With the slogan "Embrace the Unknown" that's what you do when you enter Tonic. If you like a place that's different, real, healthy, alternative (in a classy way) and chill, Tonic is for you.
Offering everything from teas, potions, smartinis, their specialty Juns, organic wine/sake/mead, oxygen sessions, herbal elixirs, raw food, snacks, superfoods, amazing desserts and more, this place is literally a tonic for alleviating your stresses, your hunger, your thirst, and your desire to connect with really interesting, genuine, warm, friendly, aware, health conscious people.
Tonic also has live music, DJs and performances - you can follow Tonic Herban Lounge on Facebook to get updates on what they have on each week.
I always wanted to find a local lounge that was open late at night and where I could relax a mature, cool crowd, enjoy great drinks and chill music (and not be filled with students/drunks). Then I discovered Tonic... The 'Relaxosphere is open for blissness' from 1pm every day until 11pm (sometimes later if it's busy) seven days a week, so it's the perfect way to start or end an evening. With free wifi, you can also use your laptop and work, which I often do...
The ambience can't be beaten and the owners, Mark & Heinz offer wonderful, warm helpful service and often sit down to connect and have a conversation with the patrons. There are lots of regulars (of which I am now one) - I come here almost every day now.. and no, I don't work here! LOL
My favorite drink on the menu is the "Inner Sanctum". Also be sure to try one of the amazing desserts (whether you are raw, vegan, or not.. you will find them delicious.
For something different, or to help with the altitude or to shift your energy/mood, the oxygen is great. I don't do it often but it really does help a lot if I have had a challenging day and need to relax and shift my attitude. It always perks me up. Don't ask me how it works, but it does.
I also laughed at the negative review by Grzegorz... definitely not the kind of person that frequents Tonic. It's not a place that attracts drinkers, negativity etc. It's probably the kind of place you either love or hate. The people that come here about love - and you can feel it.
I'd say simply keep an open mind, be willing to try something different, embrace the unknown and try it for yourself. If it doesn't resonate, there are plenty of other bars and places close by to go. If it does, you'll appreciate what a unique and special place this is, and will want to keep on coming back.
I only had one reservation about providing this review for Tonic - and that is a little part of me wanted to keep this place a secret little sanctuary and not tell anyone about it. But I do think it's the kind of place that everyone needs to experience, if you feel drawn to anything you have read in these reviews.
If you need to soothe or feed your soul... you won't want to miss a Tonic experience.
PS. Tonic does not allow children, so can't rate it as family friendly.
