Stopped in for the first time to order some authentic African food and I got it! I've been looking forward to trying Egusi and fufu. I ordered soup with 2 fufu, unfortunately they didn't have Samosa or Greens today but that's okay, another reason to come back. I ate as much as I could and still have another serving for later. The Egusi soup was perfectly spicy, and made my eyes water.

OVERPRICED ! I’m a mom who cooks at home often , and I rarely get takeout because it’s overpriced and not the most healthiest choice. I HATE wasting my money especially in these times ! Let me say this, I LOVE African Food and have tried many different restaurants in the cities. I decided to get dinner here, my first time visiting this place. I paid $20. and some change , for Spinach/rice, they did throw in the ‘hot pepper’ since I guess you have to ask for it and it’s an additional charge and they only take cash for items under $5., I didn’t know you had to ask , I just thought about it from experiences at other establishments and then wondered if it came with it, ok fine. Moving on to the food, the spinach bowl was small for $20. in my opinion, I mean who’s counting the rice , its rice and I got plenty of that, you’d think it would be the other way around. There were 3 medium size pieces of meat that pretty much overpowered the whole bowl of spinach with regards to size , I think the amount of spinach had to be no more than a ice cream scoop and unfortunately it was super oily and bland, NO flavor , just heavy on the grease and chewy meat with a splash of red sauce on top which was spicy. My stomach is bubbling right now !! Unfortunately after about 3 try’s , I couldn’t take another bite and my kids didn’t want any, so I had to cook anyway !!! I’m so frustrated with restaurants playing in my face! I think the restaurant should take some time and reevaluate their recipes and the overall flavor if they feel that they deserve what they’re charging, and try ASKING customers if they’d like to add a side of pepper or let them know the food is already spicy !!! Gee wiz simple customer service goes a long way to see to it that your customers are prepared especially for culturally made dishes. You don’t know who’s walking in that door. Honestly I’d be happy with the price only if the food was good and worth it, it’s possible (I’ve been to plenty upscale restaurants who upcharge for great tasting small portions) I won’t be back until the reviews are at 5 stars, becausw then I’ll know someone listened and took some of this feedback as an opportunity, but meanwhile I wouldn’t recommend!!

**Toni’s African Deli: A Flavorful Journey Through Authentic African Cuisine** If you’re looking for a place that offers a true taste of African cuisine, look no further than Toni’s African Deli. My recent visit to this gem left me craving more of its authentic dishes. I decided to try the **Amala and Ewedu soup with fish and goat meat**, and it was nothing short of amazing. The Amala was soft and smooth, just as it should be, and paired perfectly with the rich, savory Ewedu soup. The flavors were incredibly well-balanced, with the Ewedu bringing that classic, slightly earthy taste that complements the mild, fermented undertone of the Amala. The goat meat was tender and perfectly seasoned, with just the right amount of spice to give it a flavorful kick. The fish added another layer of deliciousness to the dish, flaky and well-cooked, soaking up the savory goodness of the soup. Beyond the delicious food, the atmosphere at Toni’s African Deli is warm and inviting, with a friendly staff that makes you feel right at home. Whether you’re an aficionado of African cuisine or trying it for the first time, Toni’s African Deli is a must-visit. If you’re in the mood for something truly comforting and hearty, I highly recommend giving Toni’s African Deli a try. You won’t be disappointed!

Google
Drove an hour here for the jollof rice and it did not disappoint. Had to walk BACK into the restaurant to ask for a second plate of it before my hour drive back😭😭. It's never enough. I haven't even finished it and i already miss it in advance. WILL be back. If the rice is this good I already know the rest of the menu is bomb. Don't think twice just go

Google
It was less than okay. I’m sorry but I loveeeeeee some potato greens, and I have it multiple times a month. This place LITERALLY had a slab of beef fat/bone and a small piece of what I believe is chicken in it. The potato greens also were ALL SPICE no flavor and they don’t even ask what spice level you want. Just rediculous, and my kids and I love spicy food and this just tasted gross. The samosas were okay. Again all spice no flavor but the crust was good so that’s why I’m giving two stars. Don’t even get me started on the soggy a** chicken. It was almost a grey/pink color on the inside and my guess is because it wasn’t done all the way. I did throw it in the oven to try and at least salvage some of a 30$ meal. Never going back.

Stopped there today and the food was great. They had a little boy working at the register. He was so sweet and cute ❤️ Looking at his mom working hard in the back almost brought tears to My eyes. Kind of reminded me of My mom. I would def recommend

Yelp
This is the worst place I ever ate. Ordered goat meat with rice and 4 samosa and everything was cold AND ALSO The lady in the back was cleaning and making food with no Gloves at all. I came back to the store after I found my food cold and they proceeded to argue with me telling me the food is freshly made and that the food could be cold due to the fact that they wanted to hurry and make the food for me!!!?? I never once rushed them while making food or said anything just sat at the table waiting watching stuff in my phone. I really try to support small businesses but this is just unacceptable. I wish I could give this place a -5 because it was just that bad.

Yelp
The egusi soup is literally the best in the state! I also love that I can request it to be meatless which is something I have found difficult to accommodate at other west African restaurants.

Yelp
I was really excited to try Toni's African Deli. I've only had West African food once before, so take this review however you see fit. I ordered the beef stew with fufu. I thought the fufu was good in terms of texture. While I think this is intentional, but the beef stew was extremely oily and more watery than what I'd expect from a "stew". That part wasn't disappointing; it was more so the deep-fried pieces of beef that was in the stew. The beef was so chewy and really hard to eat. We ordered plantains as well, which were generally pretty good but nothing too special. My SO got the jollof rice with chicken. The rice seemed old. The flavor was fine. The chicken was also really tough. It seemed old as well. I'm not sure if we'd order again, unfortunately. I feel like it was adequate and that was it.

Yelp
This is by far the nastiest and spiciest African greens I have ever tasted. Please do not try you will not like it. I will be saving you a lot of money and time in the bathroom for not trying this!!

Mark B.

Yelp
Great food, but she doesn't give nearly enough fufu for the meal. I always end up eating about half the soup or stew by the time I'm finished with the fufu

Yelp
I've never had African food until now. I love the samosas, the joloff rice, the chicken legs, and the beans and corn! My brother loved the goat stew. This is our second time here in three days!

Yelp
I especially like their suya, and friend fish. I also enjoyed the customer service. Didn't like the rice they had there. I also enjoyed their meat pie.

Yelp
This was my first time trying African food in a long time, so I stuck to the basics...I think. I got Jollof rice, chicken leg, and plantains even though I ordered a samosa I did not receive it. I don't know if it was the lack of communication or if they forgot. The plantains we not as moist as I wanted them to be and not very fresh I think. The Jollof rice was good and I would order it again, but the chicken leg was spicy, and I usually stray away from spicy things so it wasn't my favorite, but that doesn't mean it wasn't good. It was seasoned and a wonderful treat! If I do go back to Toni's African Deli I will probably get the Jollof rice again and try something new!

Yelp
i tried this restaurant twice. The service was excellent. However, I was not pleased with the food. It lacked taste and quality. I will not be back.

Doesn't look like much, but i was hungry and ordered the egusi soup and fufu...and oh my. It was delicious. I'll recommend the food here. order to go if you must
