The 20 Best Restaurants In South Beach - Miami - The Infatuation

"Toni's is another solid Japanese option in South Beach, and it's more casual than Blue Ribbon. It's not home to the best sushi in Miami—but the food is good and it's one of your only options if you want a South Beach spot that's casual, fun, and reasonably priced. Plus, you can usually walk in without a reservation. You just might get one of the floor tables, which is our favorite seat in the house anyway. The Toni's Choice platter is what we get here. It comes with more than enough of the chef's choice of nigiri, sashimi, and maki for two. They have some cooked dishes as well, like a wonderful grilled hamachi collar, and sake is a good idea here. 16 Casual Restaurants in South Beach

"Toni’s Sushi is a fun, casual, refreshingly un-sceney spot where you can drink sake, sit criss-cross on the floor, and enjoy some really good, affordable sushi. The Toni’s Choice platter is one of the better moves here. It costs $67 and comes with more than enough of the chef’s choice of nigiri, sashimi, and maki for two." - alyson penn, ryan pfeffer

Toni’s Sushi Bar Review - South Beach - Miami - The Infatuation

"If you're looking for casual sushi in South Beach, go to Toni's Sushi. Will every piece of sushi here make you want to stand up and sing? No. But it's a fun, casual, refreshingly un-sceney spot where you can drink sake, sit criss-cross on the floor, and enjoy some really good, affordable sushi. The Toni's Choice platter is what we get when we come here. It costs $67 and comes with more than enough of the chef's choice of nigiri, sashimi, and maki for two." - Ryan Pfeffer

Things on the specials menu seemed very fresh and was delicious, rolls were good too, unfortunately the sushi platter we got lacked any differentiating flavors between the fish, fish on the nigiri was soooo paper thin compared to the amount of rice, and just not very fresh, almost comparable to grocery store sushi. With that being said the service was really good and overall it was a positive dining experience.

Google
The food was absolutely delicious, the staff was very attentive and kind. It was a little bit cold but the waitress said it was for the sushi, which made sense. The salmon teriyaki was dry, but otherwise all sushi rolls were fantastic and came very quickly. Highly highly recommended eating here.

Google
Can not believe how amazing this sushi was, and the prices are even better. I’ve eaten at sooo many sushi restaurants in Miami and this is by far one of my favorites. How did I just discover this?! The fish is so fresh. I got the torched salmon nigiri, TWO New York tuna rolls, the crab hand roll, and some crispy rice. Everything was great, and the service is incredible!!! Ira was so nice and attentive, before I could even look for her to order more she was already there asking me if I needed anything. Impeccable. The vibe is also amazing and the restaurant is beautiful. Cant wait to come back

Sometimes you take a chance on a restaurant based solely on the type of food it serves. We did so with Toni's Sushi and we were well- rewarded. My wife, daughter, baby grandson and I dined at Toni's. The atmosphere of Toni's Sushi is slightly dark, intimate, clean and comfortable. The servers are excellent, responding to questions and there when needed without ever getting in the way. My wife started with the Miso Soup, which was exactly what she'd hoped for. I never had Nameko mushrooms, so I opted the Nameko Miso Soup. I really liked the Mushroom and Scallion complement to the Miso Soup. Our grandson enjoyed the Miso Eggplant. My daughter chose the Spider Roll, a Fresh Scallop Hand Roll and a Dreaming Shrimp Roll. She loved each of those dishes. The Dreaming Shrimp Roll was most interesting, as it is a "Rice outside roll with masago, shrimp tempura, lettuce and curry mayo." As the usage of the curry mayo was not heavy-handed, the dish was a winner. My wife ordered the Chirashi Roll, comprised of "tuna, salmon, hamachi, shiso, avocado, microgreen, kizami wasabi, tempura flakes, yuzu mayo, sesame." It tasted so fresh and full of flavor - it exceeded our expectations. So too did the Vegetable with Hot Udon. I ordered Sashimi - Aburi Toro, the prized fatty part of Tuna, so good, and Amaebi, Sweet Shrimp, also wonderful. I also chose the Norweigan Roll, made up of "salmon, kanikama, cucumber, scallion, mayo, ikura on top." High praise for that dish! As with many restaurants in the Miami Beach area, a 20% service charge was tacked on to the bill. With such flavorful raw and cooked options,Toni's Sushi Bar is a worthwhile dinner choice. We will return there when next we visit Miami Beach. Try it.

Google
I can’t say enough great things about this place. I have been there five times (so far) and it is consistently incredible on all fronts - food/ service/ ambiance. I wasn’t expecting much because it is so close to the tourist spots. But the interior is so pretty I had to give it a shot. I am glad I did. It was a wonderful surprise. The service is unusually phenomenal for this part of town. Always caring, not rushed and helpful. The food is incredible. Highlights are the Truffle Salmon Dynamite roll, the Lava Cake, the donuts, Chirashi Roll, Norwegian Roll, Miso Eggplant. But I can keep going, everything is delicious. It is my new sushi spot.

Google
We had an amazing dinner at Toni's restaurant. Our server, Shanti, went above and beyond to make our evening unforgettable. The prices are very reasonable, and the seafood quality is excellent. Highly recommend this place and will definitely return when visiting Miami.

Yelp
Several years in a row going to Toni's Sushi to dine. Quality is the best and consistent. Highly recommend to visit to enjoy tasty fresh sushi's

Yelp
Not shown - chicken fried rice was fabulous. Lobster tempura roll was great presentation and very tasty. Spider roll was not our favorite as the soft shell crab was a bit fishy. The ebi tenmaki was really good. The atmosphere was unique and felt welcoming Overall great staff very friendly and nice - food good!

Yelp
10/10 experience! There were 9 of us and felt very taken care of. Food came out very quickly and was delish. Service was fast and friendly. Vibes/ atmosphere rocked and the interior is beautiful.

Yelp
Best sushi I have eaten in years... top sushi of all time! So impressed with this restaurant that I can't wait to go back! Service was fast, bathroom was clean, food was seriously mind blowing.. and very fairly priced. I can't say enough good things.. just go!

Yelp
Service was very good and friendly. The sushi was very good and the tea was just as wonderful. The presentation was fun and our experience was delightful. Such a great experience, and highly recommend!

Yelp
Tasty sushi and really fast service - like almost too quick. Easy to make a reservation on open table - and when we got there we got seated immediately. Like most restaurants, you can see them gradually fill out. It was practically full around 7:30-8. Like these reviews say, there's a 20% service charge already tacked on your bill, so you kinda feel weird when they also ask you to tip additionally electronically. I get it, times are tough, but just so you know going in. The sushi for 3 was good, but nothing to sing home about. It's what your expect, and I respect it. Ps they have hefty pours of wine so that's always a good sign :) Would come here if you want a casual sushi spot!

Yelp
Found a small baby roach in my food. I've been coming here for years. Infuriating to have experienced this and from a place that claims to be premium. Beware...
google avatar

Lydia M.

Yelp
I've been to a lot of sushi places and I have to say I wasn't impressed with this place. They charged a lot for what they give you. My Sushi was blind. I had to add all kinds of sauces to have it taste good. If you ask for water, also beware that is not free. They will charge you for the bottle. Tip is automatically included even for a party of four. Where we are from they don't charge tip unless you are a party of six or eight or more. I would not recommend the sushi place. I would suggest you try somewhere else.

Yelp
I have been coming here since Toni was at the sushi bar. It's not like Miami--in a good neighborhood way. The service is an amazing, with people working there for decades. It's great for a family meal or date night. The occasion doesn't matter, for take out or eating in, you will get no better sushi in all of Miami. On top of that, pricing is slightly below the more trendy places. You will not go wrong with Toni's!
google avatar

Yelp
Amazing food, service and ambiance!! Our waitress was so sweet and the sushi quality was great. We really enjoyed sitting at the sushi bar!

Yelp
Toni's sushi is classic in south beach , we have been costumers since 1998 , the food is delish, service is good, the staff is friendly and nice , the ambience chic!!! It's great when the restaurants maintain their goodness!

Yelp
Unassuming restaurant with quality raw fish. Have you ever seen anything more beautiful than the chef's choice at Toni's Sushi Bar (@tonissushibar)? I certainly haven't. follow me on IG for more recommendations!: @miamicheatdays

Yelp
Impressed by the fish to rice ratio. Great service and ambience! They gave us hot towels to wipe our hands before eating, which were soothing and smelled good :)

Yelp
Dined here on a Tuesday evening at approximately 8pm. We were greeted promptly and given a choice of where to sit. We ordered salmon carpaccio, Nameko miso soup, spider roll, Tenmaki roll, and beverages. Everything came out hot and fresh. The presentation was perfect. And the service was excellent. We will definitely return when we are back in the area. I would highly recommend dining here.

Pam T.

Yelp
We introduced two of our friends to Tony's recently, and we had a lovely dinner, sharing everything. We love the artistic bamboo style in the restaurant, but as usual enjoyed the food the most! Our newcomer companions were impressed by all the menu choices plus the specials. The baby corn tempura, crispy bok choy and hamachi Kama were all beautifully done and easy to share. We also enjoyed the spicy hamachi roll and chirashi roll. But the horse mackerel dish, the aji tataki, was the real star of the show. Not only was it delicious, it was astonishingly dramatic in its presentation. We really enjoyed the server telling us she would take the fish bones, skin and head away when we were done, it would be grilled up, and we could then enjoy the crispy crunchy remains. Delicious. Our servers were experienced and helpful. And the final bill was reasonable, especially for Miami Beach. All in all, a delightful evening.

David K.

Yelp
Great sushi restaurant in South Beach If you don't like sushi, there are enough other delicious items on the menu, so all will be happy Prices are good for south beach
google avatar

Yelp
Hidden in plain sight locals sushi spot vibe. Fish was 10/10 and the service was 10/10
google avatar

Trevor K.

Yelp
This place is an Icon. Definitely worth the drive to the beach. The quality is top notch and simply freshly done right. The hospitality is also above and beyond which is hard to get in Miami. I can't say enough good things. Go hungry and try a lot.
google avatar

Timothy E.

Yelp
Really enjoyed our meal. We got the creamy shrimp, miso soup and Spicy Tuna Tartar as an appetizer. Then did south beach and Samurai Roll. Everything was delicious. It was so good I ate it all before the post!
google avatar

Hiram D.

Yelp
Good food, attentive service, but 20% 'service charge' forced on a party of two AND then ask for a tip? Out of control.
google avatar

Angela N.

Yelp
I don't know how I haven't been here, yet. Best sushi I have had (better than the most expensive, top rated in South Beach). The fish was so fresh - ANY & ALL (tuna, toro, hamachi with jalapeños, salmon, snapper) - they melt in your mouth. Modest atmosphere & mainly locals. Service is impeccable. You have to look past the twerking tourists in the streets, but well worth the walk if you can't find parking nearby. I also very much appreciated the COVID measures taken. Tables spaced out, outdoor seating.
google avatar

Maleka H.

Yelp
Friendly staff and great location however there was something off about the quality of the sushi. Maybe they were having an off day so try at your own risk but it's a never going back for me because I got sick after eating here.
google avatar

Amelia D.

Yelp
Happen to swing by here unexpectedly to grab a bite. We were quickly seated even though the restaurant wasn't even officially open The servers and all staff were professional and friendly. The checked on us frequently. I had the soft shell crab and chicken Katsu sushi rolls. Food was good, arrived quickly, and the chicken was quite crispy in the roll. One major bonus was the outdoor seating area.

Rebecca W.

Yelp
Is there a ten star button this thing??! This is my first review on this app, so you know it was FIRE!!! Randomly found this place on Yelp while looking for a sushi spot, so glad we chose to eat here! The fish was very fresh and delicious. I wasn't going to get dessert, but once I saw the banana tempura on the menu I knew I had to get it. Absolutely amazing!! Great service and love the vibe of this place.

Yelp
I've been a patron of Toni's since 1997. In all that time, I have never been disappointed. Even with Toni passing, the highest standards he set more than three decades ago remain. Freshest fish. Highest quality foods. Uni is the best in south Florida. In my experience, the only place for a deliciously traditional Futomaki. Naruto is light and tasty. Appetizers are prepared with seasoned precision whether it's gyoza (dumplings) or vegetable dishes like goma ae (honey and sesame poached spinach), or any other starter. Salads are the crispest greens with addictive dressings. Best miso soup anywhere, just the right balance of dashi, nori and tofu with the delicate hint of salt. Widely varied sashimi and sushi options far beyond just tuna, yellowtail or salmon; and, with exotic techniques to elevate the proteins. Rolls and hand rolls range from simple basics to complex combinations. Noodle dishes prepared to delightfully authentic tastes, including the fantastic yaki udon with broad buckwheat noodles maintaining perfect textural snap mingled with veggies and choice proteins. Rice and ramen noodle dishes are equally phenomenal. Other Asian styled mains are local favs; chicken katsu, steaks, whole fish. All meeting the finicky desires of the most discerning palates. Service is Miami's finest - cordial, professional and expedient. Decor is uncomplicated hints of Asian tradition with home-style comforts. Pricing is comparative and reasonable. Toni would be very proud that his family kept his vision pure and of the highest caliber restaurants. Toni's remains a consistent 10/5 stars!

Yelp
Love this place! Ambiance, service (ask for Ira pronounced Erra), food off the charts! We ordered sushi for 3 (note there were 4 of us hungry! What we received was nothing short of AMAZING! The sushi chef prepared us an absolute feast! I believe it was $140 and for what we received quite a bargain! For desert we had Japanese donuts with an amazing vanilla sauce and tempura bananas! Such a treat I can't begin to tell you how great both were. So check it out and thank me later, you won't be disappointed!

Yelp
I've been coming here for as long as I can remember. It's great for family, friends, and dates. This time it was for an intimate date night and the service was spectacular! From the servers filling our water glasses immediately to offering to have our photo taken (as they noticed we weren't getting the "perfect selfie". The fish is incredibly fresh, the plating is beautiful and each dish leaves you wanting more. I'm bummed that they no longer serve the jellyfish salad but that does not take away from the many options they offer. Highly recommend! They used to only be available to book a reservation by phone, but now they're on OpenTable. Check them out if you have a chance. One of the best sushi spots around.
google avatar

Penelope D.

Yelp
food is good. they add an automatic 20% service charge, whether you come to dine solo or with a group of 4. i mean really, if you're going to automatically include a 20% fee on all of your food, don't lie on the menu and say i'm paying $18 for a roll. say i'm paying $21.60. on top of that service fee, they give you an option to tip on top of the automatic 20% tip. horrible. stop trying to force customers to pay your server's wages. include their wages in the price and allow for an extra tip if it's deserved.
google avatar

Spenser A.

Yelp
Great looking menu, fantastic service (though that may be because there were only three tables seated), and a typical sushi bar ambiance with the stereotypical bamboo partitions. Ordered Toni's Choice, which came with 8 pieces of nigiri, 8 pieces of sashimi, and 8 pieces of California roll. Disappointingly, the nigiri and the sashimi were all the same fish. You would think that for their incredible fish selection, maybe they would do something of this, something of that. Maybe instead of 2 pieces of tuna sashimi with a piece of tuna nigiri, throw in a piece of scallop or octopus. As unimaginative as the spread was, I had a wonderful piece of uni nigiri with quail egg that I ordered after the fact. Solid overall, but not worth the $100+ meal for one (including automatically added gratuity).
google avatar

Paula V.

Yelp
Best authentic Japanese cuisine, for over 20 years this place continues killing the competition. We love coming here for dinner. The service is really warm and personal.

Diane M.

Yelp
The sushi was tasteless. I had 3 rolls. Salmon Avocado had barely any salmon or avocado. It was mushy. The same for the eel avocado roll. They tasted the same And they were tiny! I also ordered the norwegian roll. It looked NOTHING like the picture that they advertise on their website. And its expensive. There are so many amazing Sushi restaurants in Miami. Do not go to this one!! The service was OK
google avatar

Vishy B.

Yelp
Great food and service! The oktopus Taco was great and I loved the mixed seaweed salad. Will be back again.
google avatar

Jordan Ilan L.

Yelp
I remember coming here as a little girl... and, because I know what a power house this establishment is... I will NOT fault them for making my Jordan Roll with Rice ;). Seriously, the fish was out of this world... Jordan Roll outstanding and Daria our waitress was top notch... I'm so thankful to have had this opportunity at this amazing restaurant...
google avatar

Peter C.

Yelp
So our one night in south beach and we chose sushi. Sushi for us is a staple of our diet and we have been to many Restaurants. So I need to take several things into account. Decor: sushi bar / Japanese standard...so, nice. Food: for starters, we had the shrimp shumai dumplings - delicate and tasty. Then, we followed with really good rolls. The truffle hand roll was wonderful. The other rolls (hamachi, spicy tuna) were also wonderful. Again delicate and well prepared (note: sit at the sushi bar to watch the speed demons behind the bar make rolls at break neck speed!). Nigiri: fatty tuna, tuna and yellow tail tuna were starters. We the. Had giant clam, squid amongst others. So, here is the issue: the hard sell. They pushed to 'upgrade' our sake and, when a second bottle (cheaper by far) was ordered the waitress asked if we really wanted that and what was wrong with the first. It was over priced and without explanation of the type of sake (cloudy vs clear, fruity vs dry). Then I noted the nigiri was expensive and by the piece only, making it doubly expensive. This was becoming a really expensive dinner! They also added a 20% 'service charge'...this was nuts! I know it's in a resort city but really? Sushi Nakazawa in NYC was comparatively cheaper. Bottom line: MommaK really enjoyed the food and that made it alright by me but I won't be back. Nope.
google avatar

Jane K.

Yelp
Great tasting food and very fresh sushi in South Beach! Strongly recommend this spot for authentic sushi/sashimi. I also tried the NY strip steak teriyaki and it was delicious! Grilled to a medium rare with a smoky taste, and covered in a rich teriyaki glaze. I loved the banana tempura; so crispy and drizzled with honey! Prices are pretty high in this area but for good quality food, this place is a must.

Anastasia A.

Yelp
Beautiful . Best sushi in Miami Beach . Thanks to Kris and Anie I will definitely come back
google avatar

Valerie A.

Yelp
We loved our visit to Toni's sushi bar. It's one of the older, original places in South Beach and you can tell it was authentic and fresh. Don't miss the specials board with the fresh selections, we really liked the Spanish Mackerel and the Toro. They also had a great sake selection. A little pricey but not too much considering its a touristy place. Definitely recommended.
google avatar

Corey Q.

Yelp
We were very thankful to come across this place. It has a very relaxed ambiance and is very welcoming. The food was amazing. That for sure caught us by surprise! We couldn't stop talking about how good the sushi was after our date night. We also got a complimentary edamame appetizer from following them on Instagram. Cool perk! Great place to go for great sushi and awesome customer service.

Seth T.

Yelp
Toni's was recommended to us by our hotel bar when we stayed at the blue moon hotel. We were not discounted. We got the spicy tuna and crispy rice dish and 2 sushi rolls and were so happy. 10/10 would recommend. The service was great as well were treated with hot towels and everyone said thank you and goodbye as we left. It was a nice romantic spot. Next time, we want to do the tasting menu.
google avatar

Fara L.

Yelp
Always fresh . Always delicious . Amazing service . This place it's a gem . My favorite sushi spot .
google avatar

Will E.

Yelp
Look at my photos, I had a scallop appetizer and SIX, ONLY SIX pieces of nigiri sushi, including an incredibly overpriced $18 piece from Japan. They automatically add 20% service charge, I'm from Manhattan NYC and nobody ever does that for one person sitting at the sushi counter. Add one beer for $8 and my total? $99! I'm very sorry but it was absolutely NOT worth nowhere near that much money, it was totally overpriced. Outrageously so, and while the taste was good, it was no better than countless other similar places that cost less than half the amount that I paid.
google avatar

Zack G.

Yelp
Great spot for sushi and Japanese food on Miami Beach. I went with my family on Christmas night. They have seats at tables, the bar, and tables that appear to be at the floor but have have space underneath them for legs & have back support. The sushi was all delicious, as was everything else we ordered (edamame, peppers, seaweed salad, and udon). They had great dessert options as well. We got the chocolate cake, red bean moche, and green tea moche. I also got a green tea, delicious as well (shocker, I know), which they offered free refills on. The service was also very friendly & fast. 9/10
google avatar

Tiffani E.

Yelp
The best! Ive eaten a lot of sushi around the world, and this place was just hands down good! Owners and employee are super nice and accommodating. I cannot wait to go back!

David W.

Yelp
So disappointing once this was a good restaurant now the quality of the fish has gone downhill the prices have gone up and overall definitely a place to skip
google avatar

Stella T.

Yelp
Fresh & delicious! We really enjoyed our meal here last night. The waitress recommended a really good bottle of sake & they even had sweet shrimp w fried heads! We look forward to returning here for dinner soon.
google avatar

Jennifer O.

Yelp
There's a lot of meh sushi in Miami Beach but Toni's is consistently good and fresh. They've been around for many years, which is rare for south beach. No leaning on hype or conceptual menu. Just good sushi from nice people. I would rank them way above so many of the other sushi spots that come up on Yelp for the area. (Take it from someone who lives here, the sobe Yelp rankings are skewed by tourists that are just happy to be by a beach not noticing their being ripped off.) Skip the other sushi places and head here!

Machelle H.

Yelp
Great food, ambiance and service. We were visiting Miami for several weeks and our local friends said this was their favorite Japanese restaurant. They were right, we thought it was better than every other place we had visited during our stay.

Javier L.

Yelp
Chef Toni's sushi is by far the best and most authentic I've ever had in Miami. I usually don't write reviews and enjoy my meal... but this needed the attention! If you haven't been you're missing out!!!!!
google avatar

Valerie D.

Yelp
I cannot wait to go back. The sushi and staff are amazing. And i cannot stop thinking about the Thai donuts they make there!! They are AMAZING! It's been 3 weeks since we were in Miami and I cannot wait to go back here when we visit again. Such amazing sushi!!! Get the Thai donuts.
