Had the rare salmon katsu and it was amazing — thin, crispy crust without being greasy, and the salmon cooked rare was so fresh. It was served with Japanese tartare sauce, lemon, wasabi, cabbage salad, pickles, and miso soup, and on the table you can freely use Okinawan sea salt plus two types of tonkatsu sauces. If you love eggs, you’ll be happy here — the raw eggs you can crack over warm rice are unlimited. The interior felt cozy and serene, with nice decorations and interesting tableware. I’ll definitely come back next time to try the Abel Black Pork Katsu and Gyukatsu.

Jan 12, 2026 Only been 6 months since my first dinner visit but this place has really blown up. Came for lunch at 11:10, 10 minutes after opening yet the place was already full with a few people waiting outside. Instead of the fancy salmon or 3 kinds of pork I got last time, I got the regular loin set for ¥1,500 but was still just as impressed. Very tasty and filling and left me so full after eating 2 eggs and the rich miso soup, even when I didn’t order extra rice and cabbage (for free). I went alone so got sat at the counter. Service was a little slow at 20 mins for my meal to arrive, but well the place was crowded. The tables for 2 people were fine at dinner time but looked way too bright at lunch so I wondered if they’d do something about it. July 22, 2025 Just a 5-minute walk from Shibuya Station, this gem Tonkatsu Akira offers a refined twist on a classic Japanese favorite. Supervised by a Michelin chef, the restaurant uses premium “Abel Kurobuta” pork, known for its tenderness and naturally sweet fat. The tonkatsu is double-fried in rice oil for a perfectly crispy crust and juicy center. You can pair it with house-made sauce, Okinawan sea salt, or even raw egg, yes, it’s all-you-can-eat eggs (I could only eat 2)! That being said, the fat part of the pork can be really fat, so proceed slowly and eat the meaty part first. The chic, Western-style interior is surprisingly welcoming for solo diners, and daytime drinks are available too. A must-visit for tonkatsu lovers seeking quality and style. 🤤🤤

All you can eat rice, fresh eggs and cabbage! The meat is delicious and so tender and flavorful. They have multiple sauces available, one sweet and one savory. The miso soup has a yummy pork flavor and I loved mixing the raw egg with rice and adding soy sauce! So yummy

The staff were really nice! I can’t speak Japanese well, but one of them noticed and kindly brought a translator and an English menu. I felt heard without even saying a word. Their food — oh my gosh, so delicious! Only 5 minutes from Shibuya Station and super easy to find. Go treat yourself!

you’d love this spot — tucked away in Shibuya’s red light district, blasting 90s hip-hop and serving up some of the crispiest, juiciest tonkatsu I’ve had in Tokyo. 🥢🎶 They’re using premium Kagoshima pork — crazy flavorful. Also Okinawa sea salt best in Japan. Next time you’re in Japan, this is the first stop. 🍚🐷

Wow, just finished a meal here and had to write a review. This spot is a must-visit if you're in Shibuya. The tonkatsu is phenomenal. The pork is so tender it practically melts, and the breading is super crispy without being greasy at all. I tried it with their homemade sauce and the sea salt, and both were great. The all-you-can-eat eggs are a nice touch, too. The inside is surprisingly stylish and comfortable. Highly, highly recommend

Pork cutlet store in the small aleeyways of Shibuya! The chef recommEndEd an option which was not too oily since I told him my preference. I went at 11.30 after opening and it was chill but around lunch time started to get busy.. which means its a good place!! The pork was really tender and nothing got stuck in my teeth! It was my first time! You can also get as many eggs as you like. In Japan raw eggs are very safe so enjoy them with your rice :) If you are looking for an affordable high quality option in the area I definitely recommend!!
