We purchased the Coconut Pineapple cake for Thanksgiving. Needless to say I will never attempt to make another coconut pineapple cake a day in my life because no one does it better than Tonnie’s Minis. We purchased the 14 inch which was huge. Our family raved about that cake. It was so good that we had to hide some cake so that we could enjoy some after hosting 35+ people. Job well done. I am putting in my order for Christmas!!

I ordered some valentines day treats for my office from Tonnie's and was blows away. The chocolate covered strawberries were so fresh and delicious and the cupcakes were truly the best I've ever had! So happy to have found this local gem. Definitely worth a try!!

This was my first ordering cake from this cute establishment, and I can tell you right off the bat that this cake was absolutely delicious. Firstly the customer service was superb, I ordered the cake on a Tuesday and received just today. They really took their time in making this cake, it wasn’t too sweet as the buttercream elevated the sweetness a little more. The color for the florets was a good contrast with the white buttercream, and the cake was super light and fluffy. Each bite brings absolute pleasure as this cake was such an indulgent. 10/10 would recommend!!

I have a major sweet tooth and couldn't wait to give this spot a try. When I arrived I parked nearby on the street. I walked in and was greeted and served by a nice young man. The bakery was super cute. I asked a few questions before I decided to go with the lemon cupcake and chocolate cake slice. When I went to pay the young man informed me if I enroll with my phone number I can get a free cupcake and build points. I decided to get the mini chocolate cupcakes. My total was a little over $10. When I got home I tasted the lemon cupcake's icing and it wasn't bad at all. I dug into one of the mini cupcakes and it was soft and flavorful. I had a good experience and will return to order cakes and try more.

I ordered this cake June 2nd picked it up June 4th I ask for the inside of the cake to be all strawberry with buttercream filling. They made me a plain cake with specs of strawberry that don’t ever taste strawberry and had the nerve to charge $108 not to mention the cake was super super super sweet. I can’t even enjoy my birthday cake I’m pissed and will be calling tomorrow to get a refund.

I ordered cupcakes for a family member who is currently a patient in the ICU at Beth Israel Medical Centre. The cupcakes were ordered to celebrate a bday as well as thank the medical staff. Unfortunately when the cupcakes were delivered, they were tossed around in a bag and unpresentable. I am living overseas and ordered online via uber eats. Unfortunately I don’t have a photo to share - as you can imagine the family was dealing with more pressing issues. But extremely disappointed in the outcome.

No one asked me to leave this review, sadly I don’t even leave positive reviews, only because good food and service speaks for itself but terrible service is something that people need to be warned about. I’m sitting at my table waiting on my order from Uber eats, this my second day in a row getting a slice of cake and brownie, I know damn well I don’t need all that sugar back to back, but they so damn good. Like it’s that’s real. I’m salivating while typing this. I’ll be there soon to meet the Baker, I MUST ! I pray this business BOOMS ! So much that it’s franchised all over the world bc that’s how real and how good these cakes are.

Found this Black owned bakery through Google last year and have been loving it since. Try the pineapple coconut cake, it’s to die for. Honestly everything is great there and they provide excellent customer service in store. I ordered a cake to celebrate my friend’s engagement and it was perfect! I’m sad that I’m moving out of state now, but anytime I’m back in Jersey I’ll make sure to stop by Tonnie’s

When I need a cake for a special occasion! Tonnie's Mini's is the "only" bakery I call to have a custom cake made. Tonnie's cakes & cupcakes are the best cake's I have ever had. If you ever want to get an idea of how amazing the cakes are. Buy a slice of the cake in the store. These cakes are beyond amazing.

Tonnie's Minis was such a great addition to downtown Newark. They offer so many different flavors of cake, cupcake, minis ice cream and push pops. My favorite flavors are the strawberry twist and lemon. I always take my son when he are in the area.

Today is my birthday and I'm very particular about where I get my cake! And I wanted to try something different! and this did not disappoint! I decided on a pineapple coconut cake this time and it was very moist and delicious, all the flavors came through Thank you for making my birthday yummy!

the carrot cake was perfection. cream cheese frosting was on point. The cake was moist and so delicious!

Love it love it!! Finally some good cupcakes from a real baker. Moist, flavorful and just the right amount of sweetness. Variety here, they even had my favorite pie Sweet Potato, grabbed a few to eat while working. Grabbed some mini cupcakes to take home. Staff was nice and friendly, this will be my new go to spot. Crust was nice and buttery, heated it up for 45 seconds and just heavenly.

Found this place on a whim! So glad I did. Super friendly staff. Super moist and delicious cupcakes can't go wrong with any. In fact get the sampler to try them all. Most recently tried the banana pudding. Whooaaa I don't even like banana pudding and it was so goood. Homemade for sure! Not overpowering with banana flavor just right. I've literally been taking all of my family members here one by one when they come into town lol. No more traveling to NY to other bakeries for me. I live a little too close and find myself buying dessert too often here. The only two comments I will make is that the cake isn't always consistently moist. I stopped buying cake slices because of this. Also, the chocolate icing has been inconsistent. On my first visit it was nice and fudge like and on my most recent visit I got the sampler cupcakes and the icing taste weird. It was oily like. Like something was missing and left a bad aftertaste. However, that will not stop me from returning because everything else is usually delish. Don't forget the sign up for the Tonnie's Loyalty app when you get in store! Nice treats and discounts.

As a long time customer of this Bakery I have followed them from ever single location that they have open and closed. Starting from Harlem, Dyckman, Newark, Edgewater NJ (which is now closed) their Kios in Garden State Plaza Mall (which is now closed). I have order numerous times throughout the years from Custom cakes, regular cakes and cupcakes. Never have I experienced such poor customer service and work for them until this past weekend. I placed an order from them for my cousin's 50th bday party. I received a call from the chief two days prior regarding pick up. The chief indicated the cake needs to be picked up the day of the event b/c the image is an editable image and it wouldn't last pass the day of. I rearranged pick up time on end. This is the end result of the cake. The editable image wasn't applied correctly nor smoothed out around the cake. There is a random strip down the middle of the cake. The design should have been one smooth solid image all the way around the cake. It looks like they didn't measure the image properly so they had to cut another strip to cover the cake. The cake wasn't properly constructed as it started leaning to the side. Once we cut the cake it completely fell apart. Paying $200 plus for a cake that was completely inedible is ridiculous. I reached out to Tonnies yesterday by phone and email. I received your standard I'm sorry that happened to you apology and later a follow up email stated they can't predict how a cake is going to hold up in the summer months and a $100 in store credit. Absolutely unacceptable. I have brought cakes from them in a heat wave every summer and never experienced this poor quality of a cake. I have yet to receive a reply to my last email nor the phone call I requested from they to futher discuss this. They have lost a long time customer who will also spread the word to all of the customers I sent them to no longer patronize this Bakery going forward.

My husband surprised me with a desert table for my birthday. Custom peanut butter and chocolate birthday cake and assorted cupcakes. Every desert was delicious. They even provided him with the stands to make it beautiful for someone they never met Great desserts Great customer service

I recently moved to Newark and discovered my new cupcake shop, Tonnie's Minis! I have never been inside, so I can't comment on customer service and decor. BUT I have gotten cupcake delivery twice and can say with confidence that their cakes are super moist!! I've had better cream in the past, but their cake is really what makes them special. Normally when I order cupcakes at the end of the day, they aren't as fresh or moist but these hold up for awhile even if I finish them a few days later. I'm not a cake connoisseur or anything, but I feel like their vanilla cake has some sort of pineapple base. It's subtle, but sometimes I taste it. If you are strongly averse to pineapples, their vanilla cake might not be the best bet. But maybe there is no pineapple and being indoors too long is just making me crazy? My favorite is definitely their chocolate cake. It is absolute perfection! I am salivating as I write this, so I should probably end this review now. I ordered mini cupcakes for local delivery to a friend and I paid $20 flat rate for shipping to Edgewater. The online ordering process was the easiest part, but unfortunately it turned out to be super misleading. My order was still "processing" after a week and I hadn't received any status/order updates, so I emailed them to find out what was going on. I asked for an update and I received an email back from Ken C. saying "We do not ship mini cupcakes, there pick up or local delivery only. Thanks". But I was only shipping the cupcakes 0.5 miles away from their Edgewater location?! Shortly after his email came in, my order status was changed to "delivered" with zero context. Now I'm running in circles for a refund on an order that was never fulfilled for my friend's birthday. I'd recommend shopping elsewhere to avoid the headache.

Moist, flavorful and delicious cupcakes and cakes. So happy I visited after my sister recommended this place. Staff are nice and welcoming! Check out the lemon top flavor, it's and not overbearing in flavor!

The cupcakes are the best , I've had better red velvets but the chocolate cupcakes are my favorite, my go to . I used to buy from them often when inside of gateway and was sad when they left & then i found out they were still downtown Newark . Also their staff is always so kind . It's worth every penny .

My girlfriend wanted to get me cupcakes for my birthday from here so she ordered online days in advance for pick-up. It was scheduled for today, Saturday at 4pm. She received an update that the order was in progress at 11am. She changed the pick up time to 2:30pm but we still go here around 4pm anyway. And this place is closed! Your Instagram and this yelp page show your hours on Saturday are 11am-7pm. How do we place a confirmed order online that is in progress for pick up at 4pm and you aren't even open? We drove over an hour to get here just to be completely disappointed.

Love Tonnie's Minis in Newark New Jersey. It's a small location on the street next to the convenient store. That pineapple cake is to die for- Just excellent! Whenever I am anywhere near Newark I swing by to grab a slice or two.

I nearly bought everything in the store because everything looked and smelled so amazing! I got the brownie, banana pudding, the mixed mini cupcakes, chocolate chip cookies, a slice of carrots cake and 1 lemon cupcake. When I tell you EVERYTHING was DELICIOUS! The cupcakes were moist, the carrot cake had the perfect amount of sweetness, the banana pudding was just perfect, the brownie was decadent. The lemon cupcake...totally regretted only getting one! I literally fell in love with this place. Not to mention they have a rewards system which is how I got the lemon cupcake for free. The young man at the register was so helpful and sweet as I took my time analyzing everything I wanted to order. Can't wait to go back!

Ok if I could give this place 7 stars I would and that's just for the Thanksgiving apple pie I just wolfed down. The streusel topping was the best I've ever had. Sweet, buttery, crunchy with just a bare hint of a salty finish. Amazing.

Heavenly tastes and quaint setting. They put a little bit of love into each pastry. Every dessert has been absolutely delicious. I can't even count the number of return visits I've made to this location. The perfect amount of sweet, moist and yummy. I happen to love chocolate, so chocolate frosting on chocolate cupcake feeds that addiction well. Their cake we purchased for a birthday was stunning to look at, and even better to eat. The staff have been wonderful, always cheerful. The place is spotless, well lit and full of charm. Only a few seats so just expect to take to go, especially during the busy hours.

I came to the gateway center for Smitty and Mo's but saw these cupcakes and just had to indulge. They have these teeny tiny sample at the counter that are enough so that you can tell it's good, but small so you end up wanting more. Anywho, I bought a red velvet and a vanilla and chocolate cupcake with an Oreo on top. The red velvet was gone before I even got my food from Smitty and Mo's back to the counter I go to buy more, since I didn't get one for the hubster ::wink::. I bought another red velvet and a sweet potato cupcake. The red velvet deserves its own paragraph. So here goes. Multiple foodgasms. Multiple foodgasms in my mouth and stomach. This is by far the best red velvet ANYTHING I have ever had and the hubster agrees. The other cupcakes paled in comparison to the red velvet which was disappointing. I had the red velvet first so I was expecting the other cupcakes to be just as great. Not so. At least not in my opinion. They also have cookies and mini cupcakes but anytime I come back here it will be for the wonderful red velvet cupcake.

Can I start off by saying I almost never leave reviews? . I drove to Newark to buy seafood from my partners favorite seafood spot for his birthday. I decided to get cupcakes for him and googled a good bakery in the area. I came across tonnies minis saw it had good reviews and decided to give them a try. After parking my car I had such a hard time actually finding where the store was though I called and the man on the phone came outside to find me to direct me to where they were located. I was 100% expecting him to be annoyed with me because I called twice and was so confused as to where they were located and was in a rush because I had to pick up my daughter from school and didn't want to be late. To my surprise he was beyond sweet and understanding. I came inside and was overwhelmed with all the sweets they had and didn't know what exactly to choose. The man behind the counter was beyond sweet as well and helped me choose what he thought was best for my boyfriend and our daughters. He even gave me candles for my boyfriend and gave me 2 extra for my daughters because I knew they would want to blow out the candles even though it's not their birthday the cupcakes were beyond delicious. The most delicious cupcakes I've had in my life. Was soft and moist and the icing wasn't too sweet it was just perfect. I loved all their flavors. I will be back!! Definitely worth the hour drive!

OH. EM. GEEEY!!! These were PERFECT! I had Strawberry and Red Velvet. So soft, so moist and Perfectly Sweet. They LITERALLY satisfied my craving. Hell, it was satisfied after ONE and i ate two . SOOOOOO GOOD! Ill Definitely be back! Thank You ! Next time Ill be sure to have a glass a with them .

I was genuinely surprised to find the bad reviews. But it rocks in every way. There were so many tasty - sounding options on the menu in Tonnie's Minis so we opted to go for the easy decision and order their specials. They probably hire the most beautiful people here. Overall experience: 110% satisfied.

These cupcakes were AMAZING!!! Decided to pop in after visiting a friend and so glad we did! Everyone in the shop was super welcoming and sweet. We got the strawberry twist, red velvet and carrot cake cup cupcakes and all of them were rich, moist and flavorful! The frosting was equally delicious and not too sweet or overpowering which made the eating experience even even better! Hands down one of the best carrot cupcakes and red velvet cupcakes we've had in a long while. I highly recommend you stop by and try a few cupcakes at this place if you're passing through Newark! They take orders for deliveries also so check them out for your party and celebration needs!

We needed cupcakes for an event at work and found this place and luckily we did! These mini cupcakes were so delicious and perfect for an afternoon snack. The cupcakes were super fresh and moist. Love the flavors that this place has to offer, definitely ordering from here again!

Their desserts are very delicious. We've ordered a plethora of desserts from them, banana bread pudding, cookies, cupcakes, and cakes. Their cakes are always moist and the frosting is not overly sweet. I have ordered so many cakes from Oreo cookie to yellow cake to carrot cake. My office loves loves loves the carrot cake. They are great cake decorating artists. I will order cakes again from here.

This is a nice selection of sweets. The guy at the counter was very informative on all the items for sale. The desserts are good and a nice treat to complete a meal.

I ordered a dozen of cupcakes and a banana pudding to be delivered by GrubHub since I was on my way to the airport I ordered through Yelp and used GrubHub as a delivery they are the best delivery service right on time not to mention the restaurant was out of banana putting so they substituted and sent me an extra dozen of cupcakes love them

I find the cupcakes here to be absolutely delicious. If you eat breakfast nearby (like we did), take a walk down the street and indulge. The little cakes are very fluffy and not dry at all, my family finished off six and then came back before we left the city to buy more to bring with us on a road trip. Highly recommend the cupcakes. And I didn't get his name but the person who helped us was very nice and packed everything so that it would make the trip safely.

Tonnie's Minis is a quaint little bake shop located on a quiet street in downtown Newark. I walked into a very nicely decorated bakery that was very busy fulfilling Valentine's Day orders, and yet they immediately welcomed me and provided me with amazing service. In the back of the bake shop they have an open kitchen which is HUGE and looks like they can service anything from large catering orders, to walk-in customers like me. I was looking for the famous Artisa Dough vegan donuts, and they had a few left and they were amazing! Very pleased with my visit!

Honestly just had a craving for something sweet so decided to give this place a try. The slice of cake I got was amazing. The first bite I took literally reminded me of my childhood. It wasn't too sweet, the icing was amazing (and I'm not an icing person) and I had to force myself to stop eating it. I have tried many bakeries in NYC and many of them are pretty meh. Icing sucks, the actually cake is super dense and not fluffy. But this place made me want to go in the back and beg to lick the bowl like when we were kids.

Tonnies has the worst customer service! He has a women handling is corprate business, n taking orders for stores, she dnt communicate with or work in! I order a cake on a monday for a baby shower following saturday! I paid in full unpon order! I drove frm manhattan to nj to pck up order! It was not ready! The agreed pick up time a was 10:30! They took an hour n half to perpare cake. I brought cake to event location within 45min.. when it was time to open cake to cut, the cake had seperated from being to Moist. I have to find a bakery at last minute to replace cake. All they offered me was a credit!!! Horriable horriable ....please dont go here,if ur event is important! This why black buniess Fail!!!

These cupcakes are pure crack. Golden Heart is Iife. So moist and so perfect. was so excited to hear that Tonnie's was back. I was devastated when I first learned the west village location was closing. I drove 45 minutes today to get cupcakes and got to meet Tonnie himself.

Amazing cup cakes. Gentleman who attended to me (Eric) was kind and courteous. I 100% recommend this place and will be coming back for more amazing cupcakes.

If i could rate 0 I would!!!!!! I ordered a cake for my daughter's birthday and it arrived with the wrong name. Remind you as soon as I seen the error I called the store and told the woman what happened. Not to mention I paid for the decor I wanted on the cake and sent it to them with the exact notes I wanted. She sent back the info with pricing and asked me to confirm everything as correct and so I did because it was. I also paid for the cake in full a week in advance. So back to me calling, I explained what happened and her response to me was hold on; when she came came back to the phone she said her order form said one name and I said no my order form has it correct . She then asked me to send her my copy as I did, and right there and then she tried to say it was my fault because the person I had pick up the cake confirmed everything was right. First, of all that's just a person picking up the cake not myself who ordered and spoke to you directly. None the less they never offered an apology or credit or anything for that matter. They said they would call me back and never did . They have poor customer service; the most insulting is they have my daughters cake on display on their Instagram page like it was a satisfied customer. SMFH the nerve of these people. I will never send business their way.
