I honestly don’t understand how anyone could leave a bad review here. This place has such a great atmosphere — it’s just impossible to say anything negative about it! The bar is very clean, the vibe is relaxed and welcoming, and the crowd is always interesting. A special thank you to the bartender Marcos— he’s incredibly friendly, attentive, and truly cares about his customers. Much appreciated!

Tony P's is a cool spot to go any time of day. I like to stop by for lunch and a beer or in the early evening after work. There's always a good crowd, I noticed they have their regulars when I do stop by. Overall, it's a decent bar with a delicious Taqueria adjoined inside. I always grab a bite when I'm there. You can't go wrong!

customer service here is horrible and unprofessional. this is clearly a spot for locals who are used to a bad environment. if you do decide to visit, keep your belongings close bc people will steal them and the bartender will not take a report or check security footage bc according to them “bars like this mean drunk rowdy people and its your choice to risk it.. too lazy to check footage.” followed by the bartender gossiping about you right in front of you. also been assaulted by regulars here. very low class place. there are sooo many other places in downtown that will top this spot in price, service, environment, and features. pool table is low quality and cues are barely functional. drinks are weak and overpriced. bartenders are always high/drunk so they will not be attentive. we witnessed so many people get away with paying (so we tipped to cover them bc we felt bad). overall bad and would go literally anywhere else.

The perfect neighborhood bar and restaurant. Friendly and attentive bartender. Ready with a smile and open to changing the channel to one’s favorite sports event! Terrific food out of their kitchen. Can’t wait to go back!

Lively, crowded, plenty of tvs. Didn't try the food. Get there early! No place to park. Residential parking is restricted some by permit.

Really good place to take a break after work. super clean, I tried the cheese burger and it was gooooood. The bar tender Tiana super nice attentive to everyone and super positive attitude at work I'll come back to this please enyday of the week. Thank you.

Kitchen and bar are separate from each other although they share the same building facility. They are not affiliated otherwise. There's an outside seating area which makes it nice to get out away from all the noise if you choose . Lots of TVs for sports bar atmosphere. Pool table in separate room next to back door parking area. Ordered medium rare burger which came way over cooked at well done even after i specifically specified. That was very disappointing. Burger was still great with quality bacon and fries were awesome. Price however at $17 I expected better attention to be paid to my food. It wasn't a $9 burger so obviously i expected better. Service however was good and servers friendly so another chance is in order. There's no happy hour so be prepared that there's no specials. Prices are a little on the high side but still within reason compared to many competitors. As far as bar goes they were very busy but yet still friendly. Overall a decent place to hang out.

Came to here on a random Monday night for a drink and some food. The bartender Remi was awesome and very attentive. Our drinks were delicious, we also ordered the quesadilla and chicken wings and they were good as well. Definitely will be coming back!

Robert does not belong here. He is rude, racist, and overcharges. This was my 2nd time there and I'm standing at the bar for at least 7 minutes before being helped with is fine but the bartender wasn't even busy. Another patron (white lady) had to get his atty and ask him to take my order. He did and i asked to leave my tab open. He then he got mad that i asked for sprite as a chaser for my shot of tequila. I seen his demeanor and immediately closed my 1 drink tab for a well shot of tequila but was charged $20. That's not what my receipt reflected. Very unprofessional. I told him to keep his sprite and left half of my shot there.

Stopped by here since the first bar we hit up didn't have food and we yelped what was nearby. Bartender was handsome & a niners fan ;) Drinks were cheap, service was good & food was delicious. Looks like they have a bunch of regulars and that's always good. We came on a Thursday after work & it wasn't as packed which is good for introverts like us. We tried to come back on Friday but it was alot more crowded & we just didn't wanna drink with a big crowd so we left. Definitely worth checking out! The Mexican food is amazing here!

Can't believe I've never been here! Had to pick up son at train station and figured we'd find somewhere nearby for a quick drink and dinner. Saw old reviews w menu so went for it. Got there and menu was different but didn't disappoint. Super Burrito was big enough to share or take 1/2 home like my husband did. Menu had cheeseburger but I needed w/o cheese & w/o bun, took the kid at window a minute to figure that out. I didn't think about fries, they looked great but not on my plan right now, husband enjoyed a few. Food came quickly & delivered to table. Cool neighborhood vibe. Bartended was nice. Tight parking tho. Might catch a ride next time and walk to a Sharks game during the season!

I came here on Saturday before an event and was blown away by how good the tacos were that were served here. A couple of the people that I was with got burritos and they were good size and look delicious. I can't really speak about the bar itself, but I am going to find my way back into this neighborhood for the food in the future

This is a cool neighborhood bar that contacts a separate vendor to run the kitchen. Prices are good, lots of TVs, and friendly bartenders. It is not far from SAP, so good place for a pre-event drink.

Friendly bartender. Good drinks. Would give 5 stars but they let a patron with a big dog inside that barked. Dog was big and not friendly. Made me want to leave. :(

Sadly not a chill place for a burger and a beer. I ventured in on a recent Wednesday night as I heard they have a new food menu. The menu looked solid, Burgers, Wings, Mozz sticks etc. A tall gentleman eventually made it over to me to ask what I wanted. I ordered a Stella and looked at the menu clearly interested in food. He seemed disinterested in taking a food order or perhaps I do it myself? I dunno because it quickly became apparent that this is a spot for neighborhood alcoholics and NOT a bar and grill as the sign implies. There was a group playing a dice game at the end of the bar and an older woman literally screaming through her wooden teeth every time someone got a ¡FOUR!! *cackle cackle*. Fella next to me wanted to order a round of Jameson shots for a group to my right and shouted over me with to do so then proceeded to chat with them as I was trapped in the middle. I tried to flag down the bartender to ask how the food went down but at that point I was completely over it. I drank my beer and rushed out of there. Three stars not two because maybe you're looking for a place to be loud and drink with your buddies and shoot pool. The place is clean and well lit. They should stop pretending it's a grill too. This is a straight up bar. Sadly, it just wasn't the vibe I was looking for after a long day of work. I don't need the toothless descendent of George Washington screaming at my dome with her cadre of ne'er-do-wells while slamming cups on the bar. I fancied a burger and maybe a chat. I headed to Trials and found the night I was looking for...

Delicious food and great people there most of my family goes there all the time the owner is the best also

Was invited by a friend to visit this place for the first time today. Very conveniently located near my home on Park Avenue. Patricia, the owner, came to our table to ask how the food was and introduced herself. I was loving the tacos I ordered, and told him so. I found out that I still have 2 months open, and I told her when I was invited here, I will invite friends here as soon as I get back. Best wishes to them in business and long may they be open. Great place to come for home cooked Mexican food. I had both the Bria tacos and the chilaquiles, which were five star excellence in every way! The vibe from the jukebox music was so good that we stayed for more beers, and I chased my tacos with chilaquiles, and they were even better than my first meal! So glad I found this place! Walk, don't run, and bring a good vibe! Very friendly crowd at front of house bar. Kid Friendly: This is more of a restaurant than a bar, then a restaurant with a bar. You'll know what I mean when you get there. So not the best place for kids, but definitely a friendly place for adults looking for a delicious place for lunch and an after-work meal or a fun dinner date.

We finally checked out this spot after driving by it for almost a year now and guess what.. it did not disappoint! Tony P's is your classic dive bar where everyone seems to know everyone, and the drinks get the job done and aren't overpriced. We got there on a Friday night around 7:30pm-ish and it was POPPIN! Little did we know, there's a DJ that comes out around 10pm on the weekends, however, even without the DJ, this place was busy, in a good way! Overall the facilities are clean and staff are friendly. One thing I really liked about this place was the food! I was so impressed by Lovens burger - I'm craving it right now just thinking of it! Definitely planning to hit up this place again soon.

Yo soy 408. Tony P gives a five star experience mere paces away from the downtown bullshit. Come in here and sit on the crown Royal throne and pretend to be regal. The food is outstanding. The people on both sides of the bar are legit. The prices are beyond reasonable. I smashed a cheeseburger indoors and out. This bar is world class. It is a hidden secret. On park avenue. In Saint fucking Jose. Tony P's is to be treasured. San Jose is a paradise if you choose to view it that way. A free bird must get down the road. But 408 is always my home. Tony P be 408 AF!! Legit. A concrete guy tipped me about Tony p. Big D, Hulk, and Missy sent to this place. Is was as great as they described. Avoid the noise. Whoa-oh-oh, listen to the music. Look out weekend. Let's dance. First of all, I have been going here since it opened, the previous owner Tony, sadly passed. (Good Man) Lets go to today 10/22/24. I have lunch there every day the kitchen is open, recently it has been speratic, now when it is open I spend $12.84 per day. (Best taco's I have ever had) so lets say average $38.52 a week, and have been doing so last 4 to 5 weeks. so also lets say. average comes out to $154.00 a month. I also play hotspot! Today a 12, I went there to find it was closed, the door was answered (not sure if he was the owner) " I keep telling you that the kitchen is not opened until 4 on Mondays, I am not here to eat I just wanted to check my numbers! PISS OFF I do not need your ticket, and slammed the door in my face. Now I am going to give him the benefit of the doubt, Since it was not open, I have to gather that the bartender called off, and he was upset! Just because your day may be starting off bad, that you treat a good loyal customer like a POS! Since it originally opened! if the food was terrible, I would stop going! If the kitchen staff and bartenders were not friendly, I would stop going. Hopefully in passing some day , I will get an apology, Hey I am sorry, It was not a good day, you didnt deserve to be treated that way! In turn I would shake his hand, smile, and say thank you! so 4 stars for bar, and 1 star for a bad attitude!

Met a friend for a drink and he brought me to Tony P's on a Friday afternoon. You can tell this place is popular with the regulars who were sitting around the bar talking to the bartender. I ordered a Tanqueray Gin and Tonic and my friend ordered a beer. Took my drink out to the patio in front, took one sip and oooh weee, that drink was strong. I appreciate a heavy pour but wasn't prepared for that when I took a sip. The kitchen was closed, so we took ourselves somewhere else for food. Had to get something in my stomach after two strong G&T's. Would have tried the food here if it was available.

The food here is delicious but the kitchen closes around 9pm. I love the front patio where you can enjoy your drinks and music.. always a vibe here!

I will preface this by saying this review has nothing to do with the inside of Tony P's, but is about how management takes care of the space around their business. Multiple mornings a week there is broken glass, vomit, food, and trash around the building that does not get cleaned. As someone who goes on walks every day throughout the neighborhood, I am often side stepping the disgusting aftermath of someone's night at Tony P's. I wish there was a greater respect for the neighborhood and people who live here. Management should be cleaning the space around their building. There are kids and families who live on the block, people who walk their dogs, and all of us are forced to deal with these hazards on the street and shared spaces. We appreciate that it's a beloved local bar, but would appreciate even more if they respected the community they were a part of.

I'd give it one star, but I'm trying to be nice. Terrible frozen then fried food. It seems like someone is just trying to hold a 60/40 liquor license.

Great late night neighborhood bar in the area. Went to grab drinks late after work and was very appreciative of the low key, friendly neighborhood vibe of this place. Affordable drinks, solid service, clean and relaxed.

All the bar tenders and security staff are great. I seriously question their entertainment choices. The DJ seems to prefer and empty dance floor. Idk literally nobody is dancing and we make a genre adjacent request and he refused to do it unless there was a tip? Now the dance floor is empty...on purpose? For a under filled bar...

This is a neighborhood style local bar. They appear to have the kitchen contracted out to "Paula's Kitchen". The food was good sized and tasted great. The bartender and the locals were nice. If you are looking for a sit down style restaurant with table service, this might not be the place for you. If you are looking for somewhere with a bar top or tables to sit at and plenty of TVs, then this is it. They have a small covered patio as well.

Loven's BBQ BACON CHEESEBURGER and Fries, I said To Go. I peaked inside and two PCs of fries, after 5 mins, Fries Gone !! That Good. Peaked into the burger to go and decide, one bite, that's all it took. I literally couldn't stop after the second bite, and the next, and voila - Burger Gone too. Gotta order 1 to Stay and 1 to go ! Seriously!!

Stopped in here a few nights ago and it is pretty much what you would expect; a bar. They have a decent sized patio out front, a dance floor, juke box, and all the drinks you would want. Also, there is a single pool table towards the back. If you don't want fancy, then Tony P's is a good spot for you!

Fun afternoon, a good place to meet up with friends, busy place, bar tender is great. The food was good too.

A very laidback sport bar in an otherwise quaint neighborhood with a jukebox, several flatscreen TV's, a full bar and one pool table at the very far end next to the back entrance. I came by at the end of lunch hour so it wasn't as pack. Took me awhile to check the menu and decided to order their today's special chicken, mashed potato with gravy and cole slaw all for under $9.75. The waitress was very nice and the wait was maybe 15 minutes or so in she brought me a glass of water and when I had my meal she refill it twice. I asked for chicken breast and they were crispy and tender not undercook or greasy in anyway. They do provide their own parking lot for its customer and have outdoor seating. Prices are very reasonable and compare to other places. .

Our new favorite bar in the neighborhood! Jessica, the bartender who was attending us was really great and loved the vibe of this place. I got my usual Cabernet and tried some beers too. They have blue moon on top which is great and also had the PBR. They also have a pool table to play if you're in a group.

Please give a shout out they are gettinin g rid of the old cooks. They have been there for two years and everyone l I kes them. Give a shout out .

Fun neighborhood bar, kind of like Cheers, but better! Great food and menu selections (Weekend Brunch, Lunch and Dinner). The staff and owner are truly great people and the service is fantastic! 7 TVs (at least). Clean and well-cared for, so it's a place you can have fun and enjoy. :)

The good is very tasty. Please be aware that it takes time when ordering from the bar. But to be fair, the drinks are strong and the food is amazing

The service here has always been prompt and friendly! That is a rare find in SJ! With that said, the staff has always accommodated my requests. I truly appreciate this as someone with lots of work to do via iPad. I can grab a drink and be out on the patio, even in the rain! I love their covered patio, really is helpful for blocking rain or sun.

we have been wanting to stop by and try Tony Ps and after a year of living in the neighborhood we finally did it! After all the build up the food did not disappoint!! we got the nacho fries and they were perfectly seasoned and lots of great toppings to make the dish complete! not to mention the owner is so kind and really made it a point to make sure we were well taken care of. great quality food and large portions. can not wait to come and try something else next time!

I've been coming to Tony P's for some time and they recently started to serve prime rib on their dinner menu! I was totally looking forward to trying this as we have tried their other menu items and they have been exceptional (especially their onion rings and wings). We ordered mine prime rib medium rare... it came to me medium. Not to much of an issue as the meat had great taste and the knife cut like butter. I would recommend the prime rib here! Upon finishing we noticed our neighbors to the right and left got dinner rolls. We asked the waitress and she said well you have to ask for the rolls in order to get them. WTF? This is your second week serving, shouldn't you offer if the person would like a dinner roll? All I'm saying is if I ask for a medium rare prime rib I should get one..... if you offer dinner rolls with your dinner plate your waitress should offer the customer the option. Bartenders are great !!! Waitresses step your game up!!

Just need to share that Wed night bartender Joseph is one of the best and most welcoming bartenders Ive ever had. Met him for the first time last Wed and made a point ti go back this Wed to see him again. Definetely recommend going on Wed nights to experience such a great bartender! Game days are always a good time here. U can't turn ur head without having a local game on screen, very easy to find a good seat. Drinks r quick and always from a friendly face. Food is amazing. Lovens runs a revolving door of menu items all the time. It's never the dull same old things. My first choice for neighborhood dive.

Really wanted to like this place since it's a 10 second walk from our new house. Absolutely. Terrible. Appetizers took 30 minutes to come out and every time we watched the sever go check on our food the cook was rude to her. We ordered both the steak and burger medium rare and both came out very well done. I guess that's why it took 30 min for apps and 45 min for a medium rare steak when the place wasn't busy.

Great neighborhood place. Everyone seemed to know each other and even with that i felt comfortable to sit at the bar, have a Beer and watch a little football. Full bar with several beers in tap. Lots of TVs. I didn't try the food, but liked the menu options. Definitely will go back. I am guessing this is a great Sunday NFL place.

Coldest beer in town, straight up hard drinks, good eats, tvs, pool, no nonsense bartenders and everyone there us just good decent San Jose crowd mix. This is a great spot for locals who welcome anyone. And a great Cadillac Margarita for our special treat! A San Jose classic!

I live down the street and have been meaning to come here for the last few years...okay six years, don't judge me. I guess pizza jacks scarred me from nearby restaurants/bars. Some friends were there so I figured this was finally my chance! I was pleasantly surprised by all the food that was coming out of the kitchen. The bartender was friendly and attentive as well. I think it would be nice to come back and watch a game or on the way out for the night. Glad I finally came by :)
