I didn't grow up eating Mexican food. When I was in college, my friends and I would get Mexican that was along the lines of Roberto's. I wrongly assumed that that was all there was to Mexican food, and couldn't understand why people liked it so much. BUT THEN! I had homemade, home cooked, authentic Mexican food and it was game over! I still haven't found any Mexican restaurants that get it 100%, but I really love this place. It's not greasy, I never get a heavy feeling in my stomach (even after eating more than I should), and it tastes freshly made. Does it pack the meat on like some of those other places? No. But they don't have to. The quality of the food tastes better and stands on its own. They don't have to dazzle you by hiding behind greasy, flavorless meat.
To be totally honest, the sauces that come on the side seem like bottle stuff, the refried beans are only okay (no refried beans will ever come close my friend's cooking), and the tortillas for the tacos always fall apart (at least when I get takeout - I blame it on the condensation in the box). Other than that, everything has been delicious and I have no complaints.
The customer service is always good, the dine-in area is very clean, and my family enjoys coming here almost every week. Definitely recommend!
