The food is good, though it seems that more often than not I get into some odd discussion with a waiter on what I want my food to be. Today was the straw that broke the camel's back as I literally step in for lunch and I wanted a specific combo meal and to add refried beans (a single +$1.50 charge).
This should not be that big a deal. However, the waiter then proceeds to try to sell me another combo (mine had all beef items, the one he suggested had chicken) and he goes "Sir, this one has refried beans." So I said: "Yes, but then I have to switch the Chicken to Beef for $3 more, but with the way I want it, I just order all beef and then add the Frijoles for $1.50."
He stops and goes "Yes, sir, but this one has the frijoles." After an unusually long and uncomfortable pause, I go back and explain it all again. He then goes, and I quote "Yes sir, but the Chicken one has the refried beans." And then, and here I was a bit of a jerk because I was hangry and losing it, "I don't f****** like Chicken on my TexMex. Please just give me what I want. Plus it's cheaper!" I ended up apologizing, though let's be real, this was highly avoidable.
My bringing this up is simply because we have had a few waiters (we being the times that I go in with my wife) in the past who have tried to steer us to other combinations when we know what we want and we see what the costs are (kudos to Tony's for ALWAYS being direct on the menu) and so we do NOT wish to be steered to something else.
The food is great, the live music Fridays are awesome - someone just needs to train the waitstaff to understand sometimes the customer just wishes you to execute on how THEY want the food.
