Seafood Kingz 2 Brings Soul Food to City Island | The New Yorker

"Tony's Pier, another mid-century-era seafood restaurant located at the southern tip of City Island Avenue. Offers a similar charmingly retro system of ordering to Johnny's Reef and also features outdoor picnic-table seating." - Hannah Goldfield

A nice restaurant by the waterfront serving up seafood and many fried options. A dozen oysters for $18. A few tables had the king crab legs. The clams & fish whiting looked popular. The cheeseburger was a bargain for $6. My New England clam chowder was not as creamy and a bit short in clam meat. The venue interior is nicely cooled and organized.

Google
I recommend the seafood pasta as it has a unique take (usually they come with red or clam sauce). The fried calamares were a little too tough. The steamed clams was a great deal for the price. The bathrooms are clean. Overall, it has a beach seafood shack vibe and the staff were approachable.

Google
They have a great variety of seafood and it’s delicious. I would say fried food was a bit better than baked one but it depends on every person. They also have a variety of drinks (alcohol). It is a big place to enjoy with family and friends and it’s always full of people so you need to know there might be no table available for a moment.

Google
Seafood take out style restaurant. There is no table service, but there are plenty of seating available. It is bit expensive and not many healthy choices. Limited menu makes ordering easy. Beautiful location and views. Cashiers are very friendly. Even though it is City Island, It's the Bronx, and sometimes in the summer, there are tough groups where I got the feeling a fight can break out 😬. I have felt they need private security during the summer peak season. So far I had no problems

Ive been coming here all my life for shrimps and calamari. The taste is always fresh and I love the prices now. The best shrimps and calamari around.

Google
I used to go here back then but I visited here again today after 5 years I got the combo #20 and 6 piece mozzarella sticks and a drink the food is a little expensive since I spent $48 on my food there are not too many options and it’s mostly fried food but the food was good and the restaurant was mostly empty since I went around 12:30 pm on a Saturday. Tony’s is right next to Johnny’s which is closed during the winter. I will come back again during the summer time !

FOOD: On our way through NYC we decided to stop at City Island! To try these exquisite styles of food!! We loved everything and they served us very quickly! We loved everything, we liked the tarta sauce. The place was very clean and the bathrooms too! We recommend that if you go at night, you visit the patio! It's really cool. We loved it.

Google
My first time visiting Tony’s in years, glad I came tonight. The quality was excellent service was fast very accommodating. My Henny colada was excellent. I loved how hot and fresh my seafood combo was. I highly recommend the mozzarella sticks. The crust was excellent and crispy with nice gooey cheese in the middle And I really enjoyed my scallops. I will be back soon.

Yelp
The food and service at Tony's is always amazing. They are fast and efficient. The food is delicious. Prices aren't bad. There is plenty of seating. I loveeee coming by whenever I'm craving seafood!

Yelp
This place has been a staple in my life for about a year now. It's a beautiful restaurant with a cafeteria style feel near the waters of City Island. Despite them selling seafood it never really smells that way, is always clean and is nicely setup. There is usually a good amount of people here even on slow days. The workers are quick and the orders are taken and delivered very quickly. My favorite thing here is for sure the DRINKS. They have the best bar, best Henny Colada in town. The food is also great and I 100% recommend you come in here at least once in your life!

Yelp
Here is a spot in the bronx that I have been to several times and never disappoints. Tony's pier. Located all the way in the back of city island on the right-hand side. I came here with friends on this rainy gloomy day, so it was not packed with people. That might be different in the warmer weather seasons. Tony's pier. I usually get the fried combination platter even tho I can't finish it. It comes with whiting, flounder, calamari, shrimp, scallop, and clams. The place looks great now and has a lot of seating.Service goes pretty smoothly. I recommend giving tips to the bar host. Your drinks will be stronger each time, lol.

Yelp
Fresh seafood and very local. Cafeteria style: order at the counter and find your own place to sit. They have a bar, and a menu of fried and broiled seafood items. It is a lot of food, whether you decide yo go with one of the combos for feeding multiple people or a straight up single dinner combo. What we liked as a group: fried shrimp, fried clam strips, and fried whiting. What we did not care for: overcooked tostones, undercooked yuca fries, new england clam chowder, fried calamari, and fried scallops. Honestly, scallops are best seared in a butter sauce. Never had them fried anywhere that blew my mind. The line goes fast and they bang the food out pretty quickly. I would like to try the lobster next time. It looked super tasty.

Yelp
I've been going to this restaurant since I was a little girl. I would feed the seagulls (b/c it is at the end of city island where the water & rocks are) French fries. My go tos are the shrimp dinner(consists of fried shrimps, steak fries, & coleslaw) or fried lobster tail. Their tartar sauce & coleslaw slaw are the best I ever tasted. You can tell their both homemade! Staff isn't very friendly but they have fast service! Most items are fried & it is mad fresh when you order. They fry it by order so food isn't just sitting there. Drinks are ok they have fallen off on that. I always order a henny colada. The atmosphere is nice outside bc you can sit by the water. However, inside is cafeteria like.

Yelp
Okay the fried versus boiled compared to Johnny's...... Tony's fried is better but Johnny's boil is better Tony's boil is a little over done...... tuff!!!!

Yelp
I wish I could give this place higher than 3 stars but unfortunately it lacks in some areas. I have been coming here for a couple of years now and their food continues to be very consistent in flavor but they haven't remodeled or invested any money in trying to make the place itself look better. The bathrooms are usually not that clean, the dining area is pretty simple with plastic red benches which are not the most comfortable. The outside seating area is usually not that clean either. Their frozen piña coladas are very good, they are generous with the amount of liquor they put in. My favorite thing to order is their fried lobster tails that comes with 4 tails and French fries and right now is costing $40. Their baked clams are also delicious; the breading is very flavorful. Their oyster bar is a hit or miss; some days are better than others. Their French fries are not good; they lack a lot of flavor. The line is usually pretty long since it is a very popular spot in city Island so you can see yourself waiting maybe 20 minutes on the line and other 10-15 minutes for the food. They do have a large parking lot so parking is never an issue.

Yelp
Came here with family for a quick seafood run as Johnny's is closed during the winter . My only complaint is that they changed how they make the fried shrimps which I wasn't a fan of . I ordered lobster tails and shrimps. The lobster tail was so good, well seasoned and tender , I ordered some as well as crabs to go . Was not too crowded and service was excellent . Tasted a Dusse colada which was good as well.

Yelp
My uncle and I visited this restaurant for a late lunch on a Sunday afternoon. The atmosphere, specifically outside seating area is very scenic and has great views! The only part that was quite unexpected was the very long line and wait time. We waited in line to order our food for about 45 minutes! Once we finally got to order, we received our food quickly but the wait time was ridiculous. We ordered the fried lobster tails with shrimp and fries. We both enjoyed our meals. It could have used a little more seasoning but it was good. I would have given it 4 stars but it gets 3 stars because of the ridiculous long wait time to order.

Yelp
Food is average nothing too special about it and in my opinion it's priced ok- not great. Ambiance is good you can sit outside or inside. Service is your average you make the line then get your food and go sit nothing special. For the price I paid I did not feel satisfied- you pay more for it being seafood and because it's in city island.
google avatar

Tyler L.

Yelp
Tony's is similar to the other no frills place across from it, Johnny's Reef. You go inside, order at the counter, and receive your food on a plastic tray with paper plates and plastic cutlery. The menu is mostly fried seafood and they even sell $5 beers and cocktails too. This place is a good option if you want to save some money and do not care to be at a fancier place. Best of all, it is located at the end of island and there is outdoor seating that is right on the water.
google avatar

George P.

Yelp
The Food Choices are Plentiful! The service is Quick and Accurate! The ambiance is Exactly what is to be Expected at a Seafood Spot by the Water (Lots of People; Plenty of Indoor and Outdoor Seating; Just enjoying their food and Company!

Yelp
Tony's has Soft Shells! Finally made it to Tony's Pier to get my biannual, once every two years, Soft Shell Crab fix. Three fair sized Soft Shells plus Steak Fries at $24.00 covid pricing, were more than enough to satiate this craving. Cash only. Friendly fast service. Ample parking. Indoor seating. Plus enough outside bench seating under their red canopy, giving the outdoor a warm red glow and protection from this days sunny elements and Seagulls. Their Summer 2021 season is gradually coming to a close as Winter's slowly approaching. Maybe they'll extend their season longer to make up for losses...who knows? Either way it was a nice change to enjoy a slowed down moment and choose to give Tony's Pier a chance. Well worth the wait.

JoAnne C.

Yelp
I'm just reviewing the fried scallop meal, it was very disappointing, the scallops at Tony's used to be larger scallops and they were sweet and delicious, but now they are small with no flavor and too chewy. I won't be back.
google avatar

Yelp
Not really worth the trip. Two of us split a fried flounder dinner with fries, some mozzarella sticks, and an ear of corn. The corn was juicy, and the fries were ok, but the fish (the main event) left something to be desired. There is no reason to order the mozzarella sticks. All that and a soda for $30 (cash only). Service was fine. It's counter service then you bring your tray to where you want to sit, inside or outside. There is no direct ramp to get from where you order to the outside eating area, and we had a stroller, so we had to go through the front door and parking lot around to the back. It feels a bit like a school cafeteria, which is to say that I'm not expecting linen tablecloths when I go to a fish place, but they could use a little updating perhaps. The inside is loud, and the outside is not quiet. The parking lot comes around to the back so there were a number of car horns during our stay. And the dogs seem to want to bark at everything. It was our first trip to City Island, and I'm hoping our next one will be better.

Yelp
Food was so good we shared 2 platters and had some oysters . It was all so good. We sat outside by the water and it was so good eating fresh seafood right by the water. Only problem was it is cash only. But they have a atm. Great escape from the city.

Yelp
This is a cafeteria style restaurant. If you are looking for fancy or healthy don't bother coming here. If you are looking for seafood that is fast food style this is an option. There is a limited menu which includes several non seafood options which I liked. Such as bbq ribs chicken or pasta. There are also sides consisting of corn, garlic pasta, tostones, fried yucca, etc. The food was ok. Ive had better from across the street at johnny's (always crowded with customers). We came here because I wanted to avoid the crowd, sit outside and enjoy the sea air and beautiful night view. Now for the Food My friends had the bbq ribs ($17) and chicken parmi. They both said it was delicious. Coming from picky eaters that's a high compliment. I had the fried lobster tails with shrimps.($32) It was well...meh. Not complaining, but I've had better from across the street at Johnny's. They offer alcoholic beverages like pine coladas and the like for $5.

Yelp
I've been going here for years. I've been through all the different shrimp recipes and none have failed my judgement. I love Tony's Pier. This is the perfect quick spot to go with Family and friends. Shrimp basket is very popular and for a reason!! Crab legs from here are good too, & well seasoned. & I'm very happy they stopped putting a pickle slice as a side with my shrimp basket lol cus it would always be soggy and warm. Overall, I will not stop coming here.

Christian R.

Yelp
This is the spot! A Bronx classic. Awesome skyline view of NYC when you eat outside. Shrimp basket all the way.

Yelp
I will go down in history as one of the 100's of ppl in line at City Island during a pandemic. They implemented great order with security and streamlining the flow of ppl. The best of what we got was the Shrimp and the Onion Rings and Cole Slaw. All had savor flavor. The base sauce for the Lobster is bland. The Cole Slaw side is way too small. The Cheese Garlic Bread- I'll just say that homemade version you learned is better. You may want to add seasonings to your Pasta dish. And finally, those Steak Fries; if I had known I could substitute I wouldn't have got those. Steak Fries are not good. Never. I'm not sure how to measure what restaurant is worth standing in an line for 1:45. I do feel we were "out there" for the trend of it and less for how great the food is.
google avatar

Galib K.

Yelp
This aint it chief. It's great that this place exists, but it's definitely not anything to ride home about. We had a group of 15 so it was efficient that it was cafeteria style. But the food quality was off-putting and I think I have had better shrimp at long John silvers (not trying to be offensive, just trying to accurately represent) We got several whole fish as well and they both tasted a little fishier than I would anticipate fresh fish to taste like. Service was relatively fast though, so if you need seafood RIGHT NOW you wont have to wait toooo long

Yelp
Been coming to Tony's Pier before I even moved to NYC. It's my grandma's favorite spot. I usually take her sometimes during the week when she feels like having a cheat day. She loves the fried shrimps here. They're so tender and flavorful with a perfect portion of house fries under it. A little cabbage is hidden under which is a homemade coleslaw. We tried the fried calamari this time around and we enjoyed the perfect portion all together. The shrimp basket $17 Fried calamari basket $17

Yelp
Quiet on a Tuesday afternoon. They have affordable prices on the menu. The customer service behind they counter could be better. One of the staff members were kind of rude. As far as the food, they give you 2 big pieces of Whiting. I don't think they fillet it though because it was way to much bones in it for me. The fried Shrimp cooked, and seasoned well. That was good. The Punch You In The Mouth Drink was nice and strong. Excellent drink choice.

Jessica B.

Yelp
I usually go to Johnnys and I really wanted fried lobster tails. I went to Tony's instead. So sad. I ordered 2 orders of fried lobster tails and although expensive at $45 bucks each, there was a good amount, but sooooo salty I couldn't finish it. I tasted one in my car and almost ran back inside. Very unsatisfied

Yelp
I've been coming to this restaurant along time in I know why. They are always on point when it comes to their processes of getting in-and-out with some of the best seafood in New York City period. We decided, hey, let's take a ride uptown! And of course it was one of the nicest days of the year, so the line was barricaded off and stretched down into the parking lot! They had security team set up at multiple points, with radios making sure that people were not cutting the line and also able to use the facilities during the long wait. They had security helping to direct traffic and answer questions. Everyone was mostly respectful when it came to social distancing. Protocols here were fantastic. Lots of sanitizer, temperature checks, rapid cleaning at the indoor tables which are spaced appropriately. All check-ins were conducted and guarded by a giant security guard to make sure that all of these things take place. They have a rope to keep you from coming too close to the counters and contaminating things, which also be me feel pretty secure. Even though we were spaced out pretty far it seemed to work better this way because everyone was able to get in-and-out once you cross the threshold within 10-20 minutes. The food? It is still phenomenal! The seafood pasta is still delicious. Sadly, the price went up by $5, still it is worth it. See you again soon guys!

Yelp
Sighs! I'm so disappointed in city island lately. The food at a lot of these places have just become bland and tasteless. Where is the seasoning? Yesterday, i came here by recommendation of my friend. (Never again). He said this place used to be it when he was a kid. But, to me, the food was less than stellar. We got there late so they were only doing take out orders. So we ended up ordering fried shrimp, fried scallops and fried calamari with cheesy garlic bread. The service was busy. The line was long, people were waiting for a while for their food. The guys at the counter seemed to be moving at light speed getting people's orders out. Maybe it's because we did fried food, because i was not impressed in the slightest. The food was so bland. No flavor whatsoever. It tasted like absolutely nothing. The fried shrimp were good with the tarter sauce they gave. They didn't give any salt or pepper, no hot sauce. Just ketchup packets and tarter sauce. The steak fries were hot and fresh out the fryer, but no salt or seasoning just made all the food taste the same. No lemon wedge for the seafood so all of it just had one flavor. Nothingness. It was bad. Maybe with some hot sauce it could've been more flavorful, but i was so unimpressed. The garlic bread was delicious tho. A little on the burnt side, but pretty good. Next time I'll try the broiled side, maybe they add seasoning to that food. It's also a cash only place. They have an atm there if needed. I didn't even take pics of the food. I ate a couple shrimp, and gave the rest to the people i was with. The scallops were okay. The breading was coming off so it felt unappetizing. The calamari was okay too. It wasn't as rubbery. But again, flavorless. So maybe go when they're not about to close. I really don't know. But i will not return here.
google avatar

Cheryl M.

Yelp
I ordered the grilled red snapper $32 with French fries, I was disappointed the snapper was very dry and lacked seasoning. We had tostones with garlic sauce, it was ok. Grilled lobster tails were good, so I put my snapper in the sauce that the lobster tails were in. The food here is ok but I will not order the snapper again. The line was long but it moved fast.

Shawn W.

Yelp
Terrible experience all around. It was first and LAST time coming. I usually go to Johnnys across the street but wanted to try something different. However, the line to order was very disorganized. My broiled lobster came out burnt and the baked clams were runny. I don't think baked clams are supposed to be runny. To top it off, the bartender was rude. Yes, this place was expensive just like any other seafood place. I really regret not going to Seafood City which has much better reviews. No wonder the crowd across the street at Johnny's is always much larger.
google avatar

Miss B.

Yelp
Usually dine across the street but switched it up today. I had broiled scallops and fried shrimp, both came with steak fries. He got fried lobster and fries. For drinks, he got the Punch in the Face and I got a margarita with no alcohol. The food was nice and fresh. The steak fries were good, straight out the fryer. I like the seasoning on the fried shrimp and it didnt have a lot of batter on the shrimp. The boiled scallops were good as well. Seasoned well and served in a pan with garlic butter. Would've loved bigger scallops but I guess smaller scallops, larger quantity- so I will take it. The cole slaw wasn't bad either. Fried lobster was great!

Yelp
Menu as of August 21, 2022. Really good Pina Coladas. Shrimps platter with steak fries was satisfying.
google avatar

Jay I.

Yelp
Tony's hasn't changed in all the years I have been going. I get my fried shrimp and my banana piña colada sit out on the pier watch the seagulls confiscating french fries from people feeding them. It's a classic summer go to.

Yelp
Me and my wife are regulars at this place because they have great oysters for a very reasonable price. Tonight's experience was horrible! The old chubby guy was working both drinks bar and the oyster/clam bar. He saw me waiting on the line at the oyster bar and made eye contact with me numerous times while I was waiting to order but he never came or spoke me and saaaiiddd anything!! After 30mins kept looking at me and kept serving drinks... My wife thought maybe if we waited on the bar line he could help us, but after my wife waited on the drinks like another 15mins, his response was "You have to wait on the oyster line to get oysters and I cannot give you now!l" Are you fucking serious Tonys Pier? These are the type of people you put on line to make money for you? What a trashy experience! You put a server at the station who would not even speak to your customers! I understand making drinks will bring you more revenue rather than serving a dozen of oysters which takes more time, but at least come and tell me the oyster bar is closed or you can't serve me or TELL ME SOMETHING WHILE YOU'RE SEEING ME WAITING FOR FOR FOOD! Fucking asshole server! There were no-one from the management team to hear our frustrations out! SHAME!

Yelp
Classic NY staple that has undergone some upgrades to stay competitive and able to meet the demand. If you have lived in New York long enough to make it onto City Island, then a visit to Tony's (and Sammy's to make a proper comparison) is in order. You cannot go wrong with delicious seafood that is dropped into a fryer or broiler for your gluttonous pleasure. Back in the day one would fight the heat of the food, the impetus to grab said hot morsels prompted by greedy eyes and the gazillion starving seagulls that know where to find a good meal. The only thing you need to worry about is whether to find a seat inside or outside, under the covered seating area or al fresco. A bar can be found inside which features typical cocktails, beer and sangria along with non alcoholic beverages. There is a snazzy dessert stand in the rear seating area in case you still have room after your meal. In all honesty, I cannot eat for at least 3 hours if I finish one of their hefty plates of food. You will arrive hungry, but you will leave happy and full. Bring cash. Cash is king here. There is an atm on site. Bathrooms are well maintained.

Yelp
I had never been here before and had little to no expectations but was pleasantly surprised by a line waiting to get in... line moved fairly quickly and ordering was straight forward. The restaurant is right on the water and you can choose to seat indoor or outdoor with umbrella covers. It was nice sunny day so we sat outside. My mom got the fried shrimp with fries (all orders come with a side a fries) fried shrimp were DELICIOUS 5 stars for me... however I got the boiled snow crab legs and they were pretty lack luster. Ive been to other seafood boil places as most crab lovers do but this just didn't stand close to them, even tho these are swimming in this garlic sauce still gave nothing, if I'm being nice 3 stars AND I DIDNT GET GLOVES so it was truly a mess. Def going back but I'll stick with the fried selection.

Yelp
As a kid growing up in NYC, I enjoyed many summer nights on City Island. Tony's was the spot to go to enjoy seafood, adult beverages and a amazing view. It has been many years since I was able to visit City Island until this past weekend. I can honestly say not much has changed. The food is decent, not the greatest and not the worse. The portions are pretty good for the price. The fried foods could stand to be seasoned better. What I remembered from when I was a kid, was the fried seafood was well seasoned and fresh. This past weekend, the food did taste fresh but the seasoning was none existing. The corn meal used to fry the fish, had little to no seasoning. The fish was fried to perfection but I had to rely on hot sauce to provide seasoning. I also ordered a 1/2 dozen of the raw oysters on a half shell. They were fresh and tasted pretty good. I wish they would have had some horse radish and saltine crackers. The one negative that I would point out is that they still don't accept credit or debit cards, cash only for payment but they do have ATMs onsite. Although it wasn't summer when I revisited, I still think that this is a Great place to visit during the hot summer nights in NYC.

Yelp
Legendary shrimp and fries. Hands down the best on the island. Add some lemon and enjoy! Get a drink, some clams, broiled food, whatever else you want they have it.

Yelp
We have not been here since the remodeling of the place. We had lunch here and I ordered the fried lobster tails, scallops, and raw clams. The food was on point and tasty. The bartender was a whole other issue. As she waited for the food, I went to the bar to order drinks. Bartender: (on phone and doesn't notice me for a couple minutes or so) Me: Do you have a tasty cocktail with a one -two punch? Bartender: (looking at his phone and not smiling) "nothing"... Me: Well is there any special cocktail you can recommend? Bartender: no, what can I get you?! (clearly annoyed at my business or I interrupted his phone browsing) Me: Forget the cocktail, just give me a $5 Heineken and have a nice day...(no tip) WTF???

Yelp
I was born in New York and moved to Florida when I was young. I have a few memories from them, one of them is Tonys Pier Restaurant. 20+ years has gone by and the restaurant looks different but I'll be damned if the food isn't as good as I remember and had been craving. Golden fried, lightly battered shrimp and fried lobster tail... sheesh. The baked clams are like nothing I've ever had since the last time I was there. It's important to know the restaurant is not a sit down and order type restaurant. Instead, order up at the counter, pick up and enjoy. I am back in Florida and I can't wait till next time.

Yelp
Looking for quick, tasty seafood with a beautiful scenery? Tony's Pier is it! The only restaurant I know of in City Island is Sammy's so, when my boyfriend offered to take me out to another restaurant in the area, I was excited. We visited Tony's Pier on a Saturday, early evening. Its located at the very end of the strip overlooking the pier. Parking isn't too bad and there is both indoor and outdoor seating. This is a casual dining restaurant (think of mcdonald's), so do not expect anything fancy. The menu is basic and features seafood (mostly fish, shrimp, lobster tails, etc.), chicken, and sides (e.g., fries, onion rings, etc.). They offer both fried and steamed options. Alcohol also available for purchase. Pricing is reasonable given that its all fresh seafood however, its CASH ONLY. Upon entering, we were a little confused as there are multiple lines. One line is for fried, another for steamed, then another for drinks. Overkill. There was someone to direct you at times but its still a lot of lines, almost as if you in a theme park. The wait time thankfully, was not long. We ordered the fried shrimp with a side of french fries and a side of whiting fish. The shrimp and fries were pretty good, needed a little more seasoning but still edible. The tartar sauce also could've used a little pizzaz, but it did the job. The whiting fish however, was bland. It tasted as if they just cleaned it and fried it, no salt or anything for taste, so disappointing. Overall, its a nice place to visit for a casual date or family night out, keep your expectations calm. I would return in the future.

Yelp
Tony's is my go to quick seafood spot on city island. I love to get her and get a fire or broiled lobster and I'm always in heaven. It can get really crowded so I always suggest going on a weekday if possible. It is a little pricey. If you go there with 2 people, expect to pay anywhere from 40- 80 depending on what your order. And it's cash only so come ready with your dollars

Yelp
ONE OF THE BEST SEAFOOD PLACES I'VE EVER HAD! I live in Los Angeles, CA and I thought I've had the best fried seafood, but Tonys pier definitely measures up! When we first came in, it was PACKED ASF (always a good sign) but the lines actually went by pretty quick! We ordered fried shrimp, fried lobster, fries, corn and salad. It is nothing fancy at all, the lines are crazy, you sit on benches, it's loud as hell, a little ghetto, but that pretty much sums up all of New York, right? hahahh. The food is bomb, and I'll definitely be back for my little piece of Bronx heaven!

Yelp
Delicious!!!!! By far one my favorite places to eat in City Island. It's down at the very end and perfect for summer meals. I went in October because let's face it there's never a wrong time to have seafood in city island. I enjoyed some Lobsta (insert chuckle here) shrimp, oysters and of course a Henny Colada (Pina Colada with Hennessy for those that don't know). The food was delicious, fresh and worth the $$$ the henny colada well let's just say I'm feigning for one right now and it's Sunday morning. Now please not this is NOT some fancy waterfront seafood restaurant. It is your basic no frills type of place with great food and great service.

Yelp
Ok so I've walked through this restaurant before, I didn't stay because my group thought it was too "ghetto". Today, a friend wanted to grab a quick bite and so I accompanied her. This restaurant is off the water, and has a large parking lot. I tried the fried shrimp and tostones (fried unripe platains). The tostones we're very oily and tasteless despite the garlic oil dip offered along with. The shrimp tasted fresh, but had no real flavor, not even salt. The meal came with a shot of cole slaw and a small salad. Overall, not an impressive experience at all. It's a large place, with indoor and outdoor seating. I've been told the restaurant was renovated following a fire after super storm Sandy. They serve alcohol here as well. I personally think you can far better seafood experiences than this one in the Bronx. Happy Yelping!

Yelp
This place is so delicious and affordable. You have to come here. The crab legs are seasoned perfectly and I love the fries. Everything is flavorful and made in a timely fashion. The seagulls are savage so sit inside.

Yelp
Amazing seafood! Not many choices as expected but what I ended up choosing was my favorite. We went early Sunday, as soon as they opened so it was as busy but in an hour or so it became busy. We got lucky to not wait too long for food. The side options are limited. Most dinners all come with French fries so if you want something else you'll need to order it. My broil lobster was so juicy it was totally worth the extra few minute wait. More waiting would be required if it is super busy. Seating is available between inside and outside as well as parking. It is cash only.

Yelp
Besides having the best fried seafood in NYC they've also got the best Pina Colada's you'll find. These frozen drinks with Rum are from the heavens. The place has indoor and outdoor seating and the crowd is always great. I always have the fried lobster, yes fried lobster and the fried shrimp combo and a side order of "tostones" (fried plantains) it's enough to feed two. I've been coming to Tony's for over 25 years and it's always been the Best Place in NYC to have fried seafood.

Yelp
I got the seafood combo, 4 lobster tails, half dozen oysters, and a pinata colada. In general, fries and fried fish were not good. Very dry and bland. Threw it all out. Highlights for me were the oysters and fried shrimp. Fried lobsters were also very good but not worth the cost. And yes this is a cash only establishment! Long lines that move quickly. Much more shade provided in the outdoor seating than Johnny's nextdoor.

Yelp
Sorry to have to say this but I just had some of the worst sea food I have ever had at Tony's. My wife had the scallops which had to had been frozen, they looked like tiny Tatar tots. To bad they didn't taste as good . I had shrimp which were considerably better but still probably frozen and sub par for anything I have ever had on City Island. We would have been better off going to McDonald's and getting a fish filet sandwich. I understand restaurant's are hurting during the pandemic but for $40 dollars patrons who come out to support them deserve better.

Yelp
So I came here for a family/friend get together with my ancé we usually go to different restaurants on sea island but this night we were eating at Toni's this is the first time I've eaten here and COVID-19 has definitely changed the experience of everything good luck finding parking because parking is very scarce but whenever 15 parking spots would open up they would allow you to park inside most people just parked on the street and took the chance of getting a ticket so they can get some food and have a good time. When you arrive you wait online with your group or partner and security lets you inside the restaurant in groups of 15 or 10 you go inside and you order your food you get a ticket with a number on it and then you go to the bar and order your drinks you pay for your drinks at the bar cash only and then you can pick up your food once you've picked up your food you head back outside and you go to the back of the restaurant to the outdoor dining area. I got the whiting with french fries which came with a small coleslaw and to drink I got an incredible hulk. The fries were really good and so was the fish surprisingly I never really thought Food would be that good I just thought it would be good because most likely you're drunk when you're eating it however I was drunk and I didn't eat it and I did like it but it was fun sitting there with friends and family we had laughs and talked and enjoyed being outside together feeling normal I really had a good time here and I will definitely come back
