Tony's Pizzeria Teatro

It was our second time visiting here last night. To celebrate birthday! Their pizza was absolutely phenomenal! Definitely authentic Italian style! Thin and crispy crust. Even the simplest topping tasted so good! The salad we ordered came with thin seasoned bread. We enjoyed every bite of that salad. Then our pizza came. One rich topping and one simple topping. Perfect balanced! Tonny was quietly preparing our food in the back under chill jazz. Just like he was cooking in his home, preparing food for his friends. Had his own chill flow back there! Greeted us with smile as we were walking out. Our server was also super nice and sweet! I really hope this place can stay here forever! Already can see it’ll hold so much of my happy memories in the future! Thank you guys!

First time visit, a little pizza before our show at the Egyptian Theater. A cozy little place with six tables. We got lucky as someone had just left. It is right next door to the Egyptian theater, very convenient for us. The pies coming out of the oven looked great. The squeeze and I split the "Favorite". It comes with olives, prosciutto and of course sauce and cheese. Pizza crust was perfect, had a nice chew. The amount of toppings was just right. Service was a tad slow but with a single chef and a server, that's the way it is. Just relax and enjoy the food. The server and chef were very friendly and gracious. This place is a keeper!

If I already wasn’t a pizza connoisseur, Tony’s would have me become a number one fan immediately. Me and my friend stopped by this restaurant out of the whim, and let me tell you, it was the best decision we’ve ever made! The interior was so lovely and welcoming and I felt like I was in a little pizza place back in the East Coast! We were greated by a wonderful server who was so welcoming and kind to us! We had the loveliest of conversations with her! We ordered bread for appetizer and it was the yummiest thing I’ve ever had! I dipped mine personally into the balsamic vinegar and my friend dipped hers in olive oil. Both were delicious! We then ordered our pizza and watched as Tony made them fresh in the kitchen from our seats! Once the pizza came, we ate the slices so quickly that we wish we had stopped and savored it more. I cannot express how delicious it was. This place would be the perfect spot for a date, with quite a selection of wines to choose from too! I know that I will definitely be back to tey more of Tony’s delicious food!

Best to go early because, this tiny pizza joint fills quickly. But it's worth it. Some of the best wood fired pizza I've ever had. Basically straight out of Italy! Don't forget to grab a salad too

Chef Tony pays attention to the details. You can taste his care, thoughtfulness & artisanship in every bite. He's an artist & scientist, blending ingredients together for maximum flavor. I knew when I tasted the pizza bread pieces that came w/the salad (meticulously made with flavor in every bite), that the pizza crust would be perfection...I could eat the crust alone. A sure sign of a great 🍕. The San Marzano tomato sauce and the mozzarella cheese together created magic. We could've eaten four pies in one sitting. How he made the crust chewy, crispy & texturally savory is a miracle. He & his staff treated us with respect, like home. This one's a keeper...16 years in the business for a reason. Make room for homemade ricotta & cream cheesecake!

Fantastic pizza! Just the right balance of crisp & chew. I’ve been to A LOT of pizza places all over the world and list was definitely top 3! Great service and Tony was a pleasure to talk to. Do it skip this place if you ever visit Boise.

The pizza is amazing. Loved every bite. I haven’t had better in Idaho for sure but it’s on par with the top pies I’ve had all over the states. I’d eat it all the time if I could. My wife and 2 boys and I ate there. 2 pizzas and a full focaccia and 2 salads were just barely enough. I would have ordered a 3rd as I would easily have eaten a few more slices no problem. It’s a slow paced restaurant, and it’s definitely pricey for pizza but a good experience dining. We really enjoyed it.

Wow phenomenal brick oven pizza! Friendly staff and great outdoor ambiance. We got some fresh focaccia and the favorite pizza. Focaccia was nice and crispy. First time I've had thin focaccia and it was good. The favorite pizza was so good! It had sautéed mushroom, olives and prosciutto. The pizza is thin sliced and the crust is charred. Overall the food was great and so was the service. They do take their time to make the pizza. We waited about an hour if not slightly longer but honestly it was worth it!

Probably the one of the BEST mom-and-pop wood-fired/brick-oven pizza restaurants west of the Rockies! Literally it's Tony hand-making each pizza and his lovely wife Jonanne serving each table. Every time I visit Boise, I try to work a dinner at Tony's into my plans. Quaint, unassuming, little location, probably no more than 7 tables. If you're not looking for it, you'll walk/drive right past and miss it. Don't be in a rush, let time come to a standstill and enjoy the time with them and their passion for making your dinner perfect. The Primavera pie is so good! Also, try the pepperoni, mushroom and black olives. Oh, and add a glass of their Super Tuscan red wine. Perfetto!!

Six tables inside for 16 customers, maximum. No reservations, no groups over 4. Love the quaintness and exclusiveness. Keeps the riffraff and hipster, foodie trash out of the place. Traditional sidewalk tables, but the city has yanked their permit. That is what you get when you are directly across the street from a City Hall who wants to be overbearing on every business. The salads looked great, but we were here for pizza. Might do the salad next time. We got the Quattro Stagioni. San Marzano sauce, mozzarella, homemade Italian sausage, sauteed Mushrooms, roasted Asparagus & imported Prosciutto di Parma (lots and lots of it). Perfect for 2 people, but I had to fight my "other" for my share. Really thin crust and lightly burned from the wood fired oven. Perfecto. Great service and cold Peroni beer. Happy we went.

Tony's is the most authentic Italian pizza there is. The pizza is amazing but the service and learning their story is the best. Hands down our go to!

Went early last evening right after opening. Friendly, attentive staff; fresh and delicious side salad; nice atmosphere; and GREAT pizza -- flavorful, crisp, not "heavy." We'll definitely be back! Mangia!!

I almost hate to give it a review because it's small and I don't want to end up with a line around the corner situation but Tony's deserves it. It's a real gem here in Boise. I love the intimate setting with limited seating and the "mom and pop" vibe. It's literally a husband and wife as the entire staff. The pizza holds its own anywhere, especially in Idaho where there is a lot of decent but not great pizza(in my opinion). Tony's really sets the bar high. I love the margheritta and the favorite (#9) the best but you can't go wrong.

The pizza was just delicious and the dressing on a salad, which I understand is homemade, was amazing. Really cool place it's got a limited menu (only pizza and salad) but there is a variety of pizzas and it's really worth it. I have the sausage pizza with roasted green and red peppers and it was terrific.

Disappointing "homemade" sausage that look like sliced hotdogs and overpriced salad and they charge you for extra salad dressing. Was told it was a good Italian owner who made good pizza and we were very disappointed. They could've been friendlier too. They only had two tables of people so God forbid the owner who is making the pizza could've made some small talk when we were so friendly to him and from Italy ourselves which we told him, but which he apparently didn't care about. Great location, but mediocre food.

I've eaten at Tony's half a dozen times and agree it's the best in the valley. Great crust and sauce. Topping flavorful. The space is small. Not sure if the intent is to move you along, but it's nice and located right downtown. I'm not a fan of the owner, had business dealing with him and didn't appreciate his approach, but as you can see don't hold that against his quality.

The food was excellent. We had the Primavera pizza, rosemary, focaccia, and Caprese salad. You're welcome, unfortunately upon entering the restaurant they almost they almost refused to seat our party of six so we suggested two separate parties, one of two people and one of four people. They still had a big issue with that. And then Tony and the server had a heated exchange behind us which was uncomfortable to hear. We felt pushed out as blinds were drawn, beverages removed from our table, and door opened to the outside. It was 9:03 pm. My husband and I agreed we'll not eat at Tony's again because of the vibe.

Pros: Service was good, pizza was tasty and fresh. restaurant was clean and had a lovely ambiance cons: the salad was sparse and took a long time to get to us. The pizza took FOREVER. The restaurant was half full. We got in and immediately ordered, I looked at the menu online. It took over 45 mins for the pizza to even get in the oven. We watched as the owner waited until all the orders were in from the other tables and THEN he put our pizza in. People who came in 50 minutes after us got their pizza at the same time we did. So while I liked the pizza, I won't be going back unless I have 2 hours to kill and I would never order the salad again.

Fabulous pizza AND atmosphere. The pizza is ridiculously simple and enjoyable. Don't over do it with toppings, just keep it simple. Get a bottle of wine and take home what you don't finish. Go with a small group. Tony's is a valuable institution and is basically a one man show with Tony working the oven and an assistant in the front. It's like eating at your Italian Uncle's house. Love it and can't wait to get back there.

Best pizza and possibly best food in all of Boise. The atmosphere is wonderful and the low seating leads to a cozy and welcoming ambiance. As long as your willing to wait and have a group 4 or smaller, definitely suggest.

Google says temporarily closed and when we drove by shades were down on the windows. Does anyone know why? And if it will reopen? We ate there about a yr ago last time we were in Boise. Soooo good.

100% 5 star pizza! We came here this week while cruising around downtown Boise. We decided to sit outside and were greeted immediately by our super friendly waitress. Looking over the menu we decided on a couple pies which I included in the review. Theses pies were so good nice and thin with crispy crust. The ingredients as well were super fresh and delicious. Our favorite was named 'Favorite" this was more of a tomato base pizza not a lot of cheese which is pretty rare super delicious. I can't add much more besides if you are looking for outstanding pizza in the Boise area then this place is it. I would also suggest eating there well worth it getting it fresh out if the oven.

Small restaurant, big flavors! Pizzas here are thin crust, brick oven fired, garnished with sun dried tomatoes, caramelized onions, goat cheese, anchovies and such. I tried the Dolce Vita; white sauce, spinach, sun dried tomatoes and goat cheese, very good. No Tiramisu (none for years due to some ladyfingers shortage or something?!!), the only available dessert was a ricotta cheesecake, very good, but at $9 the piece seemed a little overpriced. No coffee either, the coffee machine has been waiting for parts from Italy for o don't know how long! Clearly they've been unlucky with Italian imports! Folklore apart, it's an alright restaurant.

The price, flavor and employees were awesome! The crust at the center of the pizza was a little soggy, but not enough for me to give this place less than 5 stars.

Tony makes not only the best pizza in all of the Treasure Valley, he makes the best pizza anywhere. Full stop. Period. If you search far and wide you may find pizza as good as Tony's. Maybe. But you won't find any better. Ever. I am a person not given to absolutes or hyperbole, so trust me when I tell you with certainty that Tony's pizza is penultimate! Pizzeria Teatro was our destination dining stop as our first dinner meal on our first "should we move to Boise" tire kicking trip almost six years ago. My husband, who is Sicilian heritage and grew up in an Italian neighborhood in Brooklyn in a household where his grandmother spoke only Italian, said "I'm home" when we walked in the door then. We feel the same way now. (And this is a coincidence, my hubby and Tony went to competing high schools in Brooklyn. Although decades apart for my old'un hubby, he still considers both of them to be guys from the same neighborhood. As New Yorkers are inclined to do, I guess.) No matter what pizza you choose, it will be excellent. The same can be said for the salads. Not to mention a wine list that is 'perfetto' for Italian fit. And it is also the friendly service, lovely art on the walls, and great jazz classics music on the sound system that season the experience. See my first review from 2013 if you find details helpful. But I figured it was worth a review update as it surprises me to find how many people we talk with about superior places to eat in Boise have never heard of Tony's, including people who have lived here far longer than we (of our now five year residency.) Tony's continues to be on our recommendation list for others for destination dining. Also as praise for Tony and his pizza, I share that a few weeks ago while dining at another eatery where pizza is on the menu, the owner sat down with us to ask what we thought of the pizza coming out of his kitchen. This man, who also shares Italian heritage, said he too thought Tony's pizza was extraordinary and if Tony ever retired he was going to ask him for his pizza recipe. "Ah", we said, "But if Tony retires the pizza would never be the same, recipe or not, because there is the hand of the pizza artist in the making of Tony's pies that makes them so deliciously special." The only thing I would change here if I had a magic wand is the location. Parking in this part of downtown is a bear for anyone and in particular for me as I have MS and rely on accessible - aka complies with ADA - parking to be able to park and get out of my car and there isn't much of it in this part of downtown. Plus, I live out in the west side wilds of Eagle. So, if Tony ever wanted to move his pizzeria out to my side of town somewhere with a parking lot, I would be on auto-pilot for weekly dining.

The food tonight for our group of four was excellent, as usual. The 2 star rating is due to the rudeness of Tony, the owner and cook. We were seated at the four top table nearest the kitchen. We ordered two pizzas and one order of bread. When my friend requested a straw for her soda, Tony was heard saying about us, "two pizzas!", and toward my friend who requested the straw, "high maintenance"! Apparently he did not think we had ordered enough this evening. I have been here before and ordered more pizzas for a group of four. Tonight we had dessert waiting for us at one of our homes, and were considering that with our order. Tony gave glaring looks at one of my male friends as he walked back to the table from the restroom, shaking his head at him. When my husband thanked Tony for the meal at the end, he was ignored. Our wait staff was delightful. We did not overstay our visit, but ate and left in less than 1 1/2 hour. Nobody was turned away because we were taking up a table during our visit. This will be my last visit to Tony's. No pizza is worth the rudeness of the host.

Quaint little Italian pizzaria. Wife and I ordered the standard margherita with pepperoni. Boy was it good! Thin, but not to thin crust. Crispy yet not tough. Full of flavor, not drenched in marinara. Priced very well. Expect a small wait as seating is somewhat limited. If you like authentic pizza pies, this is the place. You won't regret it.

Tony's pizza is arguably the best pizza in Boise. If you like authentic Italian style dough, ingredients and sauce then look no further. It's extremely hard to find a spot like this in Boise. If you want to drive to Italy from Boise, this is the closest you'll get. I recommend this place to everyone!

Would give zero stars if I could. Showed up. Place is empty. One table sitting. We are 5 and there are 4 open tables inside and 4 outside. They say we only do parties of 4. We said we don't mind and we would be happy to sit apart and be a party of 3 and separately a party of 2. "No we won't do that." Ok so if we weren't together and yet arrived at the same time as two people and then three you wouldn't refuse them service right? " Well that's not the case. Ok so you are refusing to seat us. Yes. The owner was staring at us from the kitchen. Sorry. You deserve the crap review and you sure as hell won't see me ever again.

Tony makes real pizza. If you grew-up in NJ or NY, you know what I mean. He never disappoints. It is a small place; max party size is 4. Tony prepares everything, so go when you are not in a hurry.

The best pizza in boise. Hands down, no questions asked. Tony is allegedly called the pizza god? Well I get it. A title more than deserved. NO! DO NOT SUPPORT THIS ESTABLISHMENT We arrived as a family of 5 to be told that we WOULD NOT be seated because they only seat parties of 4 or less. We asked if we could divide up and sit at two separate tables and were told splitting is NOT allowed and that they only have 1 Chef. We asked how that would work if we had been two different families arriving at the same time, and were met with rudeness and emphatic NO, sorry you cannot eat here. SAD. DO BETTER!

Tony!.....you did goooood Tony! In a world of turmoil, where we can't agree on anything there is a shining light of willing consent, harmony, and unity. That light ladies and gentlemen is Pizza. With constant debate over global warming, impeachment, and why a tomato is fruit...there is one thing this world agrees on...that pizza is universally and unequivocally delicious...and Tony's is at the forefront of this scrumptious and humble indulgence. It seems like no matter the quality of the pizza, whether bad, good, or mediocre everyone is fine with it because...pizza. It pleases everyone. Tony's is a legitimate pizza joint. Like hole in the wall Italian street pie joint. Here is the beautiful thing about pizza, it doesn't need to be overdone, and when it is it's more difficult to make right. When kept simple much like it's humble roots from the mother country it becomes more...it becomes BETTER. Quality crust, pureed tomatoes for the sauce (nothing fancy here just tomatoes), imported cheese, and maybe a topping or two, throw it in a brick oven...Tony's does it right folks. Attention to the simple very few details like pulling that pie out of the brick oven with just a slight char on the crust so you know it was done right. You need some Tony's...Boise needed Tony's, and it's right in the heart of downtown. Tony...mio amico, 5 stars and well deserved. This place is going to catch on and quick...eat up Boise.

Lovely place. I don't think many people know the gem that is Tony's. I walked by it and knew instantly I would like it. I love allure, I am a sucker for it. The moment I read the printed out paper that they only serve parties under four I was entranced. Tony's doesn't want you, you want Tony's. There is a pride to its forced intimacy that I admire. A good restaurant without good company is a sad sad thing to experience. I was blessed this night to have both. It is nights like those where the food and company gives life a little bit of airtime; by far the highlight of my week. The food was slick. I was a little lost when it came to the words on the menu because I am not very literate when it comes to menus and ingredients for that matter. It felt as if I was in a labyrinth of potential orders each one seeming to be the right way out. I essentially chose one at random, and thoroughly enjoyed it. I pride myself on being open and honest with my experience; I was a little entranced with my date, they could of brought out my balls deep fried as the entrée and I might of not noticed. In my moments of clarity through, there wasn't a bite I didn't enjoy. Was it the best pizza I have ever had? It's damn close, I will say that much. The food paired with the feeling that you have uncovered a gem of a restaurant makes for a riveting date, and a memorable meal. Hat's off two everyone involved in this establishment, this restaurant is a blessing. Cheers.

The pizza was soo flavorful and delicious! Soo many meats!! I ordered the New Yorker and a house salad. Little did I know that it also came with these delicious breadsticks! Also, if you order ahead of time, there is room for you to pull up your car out front. They will come to your car window to get your payment info and bring the food out to you when its ready. They wear masks and even offer a spritz of hand sanitizer after interactions!

So I have been to Tony's Pizzeria several times now. Each time I am blown away by how good this pizza is. I have brought several coworkers to Tony's and they have all loved it. If your wanting something non traditional go with the Buffalo Chicken Pizza Don ask for extra blue cheese. Simply amazing!! Give this place a try. You won't be disappointed. The staff is always friendly and attentive. The Pizza is incredible.

We walked in with a total of 6 but the rude "hostess" wouldn't seat us because they can't accommodate parties larger than 4. Not only was she awful towards us, but she wouldn't even let us split up our party. There are better options around the corner, avoid this place!

We came here for hand made pizza last night and we were not disappointed. The interior is cozy and the inside is covered in brick. This is a small romantic pizza place and great for a date night. We ordered the margarita and the sausage, spinach and garlic pizzas. Both were amazing and I love the crust. The pizza was perfectly made with a crispy bottom and has a nice chew to the crust. All the pizzas are made by hand from the owner Tony. If you are looking for true sicilian thin crust pizza give to Tony's you will not be disappointed!!!

This place is legit. We had been wanting to go for a long time but it always looks full so when we went by tonight and there were three tables open, we couldn't believe our luck. I got a nice glass of red and we ordered two pizzas: the sausage and spinach, and the margherita. Both were amazing. The crust was perfect and the quality of the ingredients really came through. The place is small and intimate. Great low-key date night pizza. Definitely a winner.

Phenomenal pie. Cross between NY and Neapolitan with super light dough. Could eat a whole pizza myself but only because it's extra delicious. Salad was great as well. Have been wanting to eat here for years and somehow never made it. Will be back many times as I'm hooked.

Tony's did not disappoint! Great spot on Capitol and fantastic food. The service was top notch and everything was very good. We had a couple glasses of wine, the caprese, a salad, and pepperoni pizza. We will definitely be back and recommend you try it too.

By far the best pizza place in Boise! Be it the experience, ambiance, quality, flavor profile, desserts, wine selection, etc. Nowhere can compete when it comes to real pizza. Treat yourself to the tiramisu, get a salad (any) to munch on the focaccia, and get the pizza of your dreams. Do not expect your typical bready-salty-greasy pizza with thousands of meats. Order two and be sure to try a simple one to better understand the QUALITY!

What a wonderful experience that was. I went to Tony's (located directly across the street from Boise City Hall and next to the Egyptian Theatre) for lunch on Monday, only to find out they're closed that day. I came back the following day and am glad I did. Do you remember Keystone Pizza and their alternating $5 large pizzas, pepperoni one month and fake Canadian Bacon and pineapple the next? Well, this is about as far removed as possible. I got there soon after they opened and ordered a Quattro Stagioni, with imported prosciutto, homemade Italian sausage, asparagus, San Marzzano tomatoes and mozzarella. Tony came by my table and apologized because the brick oven was still a few degrees shy of its optimum baking temperature. The crust was crisp on top and bottom and I said it was fine. He said he didn't want me to wait, but would bake another pizza if I was dissatisfied. I insisted it was fine. And it was. The toppings melded well together. And Tony understands that loading ingredients high on a pizza makes for a bad, soggy pizza. The flavor was marvelous.

I went to school in New Jersey and this is the best pizza I have had since moving to Idaho. Tony is the man. The inside is a nice quaint atmosphere perfect for people who take pizza seriously.

How is this place not packed every hour they're open? This pizza is hands down the best and most authentic in the area. In most areas actually. The quality of ingredients and expertise is apparent the moment they bring it out. The owners had a successful little restaurant in Naples Italy and that experience and craftsmanship translates to a hidden gem in downtown Boise.

This is , hands down, the best pizza on this continent! I am pretty fussy about my food (ask my husband) and I have tried all those "wood fire" blah blah places that promise you the best in Boise... lies! skip those. Come here. ( You will not break my heart if you do not because I like cozy little restaurant with all the charm of a private dining experience.) Here you will find good music, good art, terrific staff.. and oh my , the pizza... Tony is a pizza god! I had the Puttanesca.. hands down, the best ever! Thank you !! See you soon Tony and and crew!

Tony is the real deal. Italian born. Lifelong restauranteur. He believes in only serving the best .......in everything he serves. From the olive oil to the butter to the garlic to the dough. He won't allow sub par products to affect his reputation. I first met Tony when he got upset when he saw me put an ice cube in my red wine. He dispatched his wife to my table to inquire if the wine had been served too warm. I knew then that I was going to be a lifelong customer. His pizza is excellent. Full of flavor and with the perfect hot oven cooked pizza dough. If you want greasy, chewy flavorless pizza.....there is a place down the street from Tony's. But if you want a gourmet experience of real Italian pizza made with the finest fresh ingredients.....dine at Tony's.......and tell him Steve sent you. Tony is always behind the counter......go introduce yourself.

*0 stars. My family and I just arrived to Boise (our first visit). We had a 6+ hour drive. Got to our hotel and walked to Tony's because of the great reviews. My three children, husband and I were turned away because the server said they only seat up to four people at a table. Absolutely ridiculous. Apparently they don't want or need your business.
