"The Bay Area News Group reports that chef Tony Santos, who runs the cafe at the city’s Tech Interactive museum, has turned his commissary kitchen into a smokes meat destination called Tony’s Patio BBQ. In addition to the house-smoked meats, you’ll find the usual sides, house made sauces, and Texas toast." - Eve Batey

Google
Came here because the reviews were great and the restaurant was highly recommended. Unfortunately, I was disappointed in the food. I ordered the nachos which included beans, cheese, jalapeños, and brisket. The brisket was bland, and the chips and cheese are comparable to what you can get at a convenience store or movie theater. I eventually scraped off the meat and ate it on its own with some of the barbecue sauce for flavor. I can recommend the sausage - that was great! Not sure food is worth the price. Can't say too much about the staff. The chef behind the counter was very nice with answering any questions we had, but that was the extent of our interaction with them.

Google
The best classic BBQ brisket sandwich in town. The staff is super friendly, and the ratio quality/price is great! Totally recommend!

Google
Once again. Took some good friends here and Tonys now has more customers!!! Same great taste. Can't go wrong with the brisket sandwich and ribs. Good potato salad and just general atmosphere! Love it here Love this place. I found it a about 5 or 6 years back and have been coming here since. I always get the #5 Regular Brisket sandwich with two ribs. The food has great taste and the sauce is pretty delish too! Opened up in 1958 . Service is always top notch. They are always smiling and welcoming!!! I'll keep coming here to enjoy the brisket sandwich!

Google
Place was hot, maybe their A/C not working…? Food was not great, though OK, brisket and pork is good but a little too much fat for my taste, ribs ok, chilly was bland they forgot to season it or something…? Potato salad was the best part, that salad was goood!. Price is not cheap! Not impressed, just acceptable. Honestly I’d rather go to almost any other BBQ place in El Paso.

Google
My first time to El Paso and I saw this was well recommended. A little surprised it was like in an industrial district, but don't let that put you off. It's a small, fun little place. I had the brisket. I got fatty brisket which was great, very flavorful. Very tender. Very happy with that. I got pork ribs. They were Good. The french fries were very ordinary. I would not recommend them. The sweet tea was good too

Google
I did not enjoy my first visit to this restaurant but decided to give it a second chance. Unfortunately, my experience did not improve. I ordered the two meat plates with brisket, chicken, macaroni salad, chili, and an extra hash. There are a few positive aspects. The hash is delicious and some of my best in years, though it could use more potatoes for better texture. The chicken is also very moist, with juices flowing with every bite, but it lacked flavor, making it rather disappointing. The brisket, however, was a complete letdown. It had no bark, taste, or texture, and I cannot recommend it to anyone. The macaroni salad was bland and lacked substance. As for the chili, it was the worst I’ve ever tasted; I would prefer canned chili over what they served me.

Google
Found this place on a whim. The food was fantastic. So was the service. The brisket was so tender you cut in with the side of a plastic fork. Pulled pork, ribs and the sausage was perfect. I was so impressed I bought a Shirt. First time in my life I have bought merch.

Google
This place is OG. Since 1958. Only spot in my life I’ve had a plate of BBQ brought to my table covered in tin foil ! Super cool. Great brisket and they exceeded our expectations (put three ribs on our plate when we asked for two).

Tracy J.

Yelp
I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE this place!!! It's my special treat to myself. The staff is welcoming and kind. The PORK and the BRISKET???!!!! That's ALLLLL I'm there for

Marisol P.

Yelp
The food was great. So I would give 5 stars but it was not very friendly. There was one person who I am assuming was the owner, was the least friendly. But because the food was good, we'll return. Hopefully their attitude will change, : )

Sergio David A.

Yelp
All the food is great. I've been eating here sinceI was a kid. Every time I come to visit, I have to get a Tony's Brisket Sandwich.

Ramon O.

Yelp
Best BBQ in El Paso. The Brisket and the pulled pork are delicious. The staff is really helpful and gives excellent customer service. I recommend to any and everyone to try this place.

Adrianne N.

Yelp
Very friendly staff and the food is delicious . Give them a try and you won't regret it.

Yelp
Old El Paso staple great sandwiches and fabulous prices a must go place highly recommend

Robert R.

Yelp
Food was very good. Amazing. Kind of expensive but that's to be expected these days. Always busy but fast service. Be prepared to wait a few minutes during busy times; seating can be limited. Overall, worth it

Silvia R.

Yelp

Nate C.

Yelp
Love this place, it's not fancy, but food is great. The lady peeped out food was also lovely. I stopped by when I passed the city. Would definitely come again .

Jeannie K.

Yelp
I haven't had any problems. Only sometimes Depending on who's taking care of the front desk. I believe that has gotten better. I'm just grateful for the late hours. As a busy single mom, my son has gotten seen and taken care of, so that I don't have to miss work. I know what's going on with my child, and I can plan for the next day.

Ceivy M.

Yelp
This BBQ place is a must go. When I got to El Paso last year, I was told I had leave the state and to go to Cloudcroft for good BBQ. Tony's is leagues above Cloudcroft. As soon as you walk in, the people inside welcome you in with a cheery and familiar disposition. I think it's the first time since I moved here that I felt like a local walking into a small family owned place, it felt great! The ribs are juicy on the inside yet crunchy on the outside, meat falling off the bone when you take a bite. The chili tasted and looked like bean soup, certainly not a Texas chili, but it was amazing nonetheless. I'll definitely be back for more.

Yelp
I liked the and the service was and the atmosphere was good and the location was easy to get to

Yelp
I have been visiting Tony's the Pit Bar-B-Q since I was a child, and I have always highly enjoyed it. It is by far my favorite BBQ place in El Paso because the taste of their BBQ is unique. Their BBQ is not mega seasoned nor full of sweet BBQ sauce, but instead, I enjoy the taste of their slow-cooked meat. Now, their sauce rocks, too, but it is not the main focus. Tony's The Pit Bar-B-Q Sauce is a bit spicy, vinegary, and tangy with the usual essentials of a BBQ sauce. I enjoy their modest, relaxed ambiance. When I visit, I love ordering their pulled pork or their brisket sandwich with everything, which means onion, pickles, green chile, and BBQ sauce. For their sides, I enjoy their cole slaw. If you go during the work week at lunch hours, Tony's BBQ gets busy. There is a usual long line, but it moves quickly. Their parking area is in the back, or you may park on the street. Tony's staff is friendly and caring. They have done an excellent job maintaining their original recipes for decades, and for someone like me who has been visiting them for many years, their recipe brings back sweet memories.

Yelp
the rice is well cook, pork chops are good, i love it, i rate it 4, good crew they give me free meal happy meal good 4 every1

Melissa O.

Yelp
Just had lunch there with a client and it's still absolutely delicious and very affordable! Not to mention the smiling faces that great you! The meat isn't greasy and they aren't trying to hide anything by smothering it in sauce. It's perfect. Despite looking at the sandwich and thinking "I can't eat all that" somehow all of us ate every bite! We also ordered French fries because they are fresh, crisp and crinkled cut. My pork sandwich was fantastic and the others agreed about their beef sandwiches. I had potato salad and appreciate that they keep it simple. I highly recommend Tony's!

Arthur S.

Yelp
The Best barbeque place in El Paso. Won't go any where else to eat these delicious sandwiches in town. Being going for over 20 years . Thank God for Tony's Barbecue place. Every one should try this place at least once.

Alan S.

Yelp
I absolutely love eating at Tony's !! They use high quality meat which means you don't have to put a lot of seasoning on it and that's what I love about their barbecue. All the other barbecue places in town used tons and tons of salt and seasoning. I eat at Tony's at least twice a month

Jill W.

Yelp
I am from California and was only in El Paso for a day. The BBQ need was hitting me, and we found Tony's. Thank goodness we did! For starters, their hospitality, service and unpretentious welcoming attitude was refreshing! Many restaurants should train with their staff on hospitality. Next, the BBQ was classic! I ordered the 2 meat combo that comes with 2 sides. I got beef and chicken breast- both were cooked perfectly. The beef was thinly sliced and tender, the chicken breast was great and not dry. It was what I think of when I think of wanting chicken. Great sides- tasty macaroni salad and savory, good chili beans. Their BBQ sauce was slather worthy. Plenty of food at a great price. Please go there. You'll leave with a smile on your face.

Yelp
How is it possible that I have never been or visited this local treasure?! Maybe because I am not a big red meat eater but here is an excellent reason to allow your friends to pick your lunch place. I walk in and turn into a kid in a dulceria, looking everywhere, unable to concentrate. There are local references and pictures all around and I want to read them all as if I was in a museum but then I remembered my friend was on a time limit. The place is full of mostly blue-collar working men on their lunch break. Anyhow, you can feel the pride in the space and smell the care in the cooking. Here is my summary. Place was homey, cozy, practical and quaint. Service was super friendly and accommodating. I must of talked to the lady at the line three times and she always had a smile and positive attitude. You can tell this is just not a job for her. The food was no frills and filling. I had the fish filet sandwich which was delicious. The culture of this place reminds me of that sitcom Cheers. Where everyone knows your name? Minus the alcohol. Like I told the nice lady, I will be back and bringing my family.

Leah G.

Yelp
The service was amazing! The food was yummy! The restaurant was cozy and welcoming I will be coming here again!

Donovan S.

Yelp
Great food and great customer service. In my opinion this is the best bbq I have ever had.

Su-zanne G.

Yelp
Some of the best bbq in town! I love treating family and friends to their wonderful variety of sandwiches and plates. I use them for catering and never disappointed.

Cheetos G.

Yelp
Omg it is so yummy red meats sandwich with the chili beans but the red meats sandwich is delicious

J L.

Yelp
Legendary. There's a reason this place has been in business since 1958. No frills hole in the wall with some of the best damn bbq around. Slow smoked tender meats accompanied by pickles, onions, and a perfectly balanced vinegar based sauce. All franchised bbq restaurants should hang their heads in shame. They can't touch Tony's.

Jon B.

Yelp
Authentic Texas BBQ. What a gem. We weren't sure if we were gonna find anything worth writing home about in El Paso but there it was. A little smokehouse joint in a warehouse district of El Paso. Exactly what the doctor ordered. The brisket was no joke. I got two orders. Crispy bark. Juicy. Oh man. Add in the top notch potato salad and coleslaw and it all equals a meal that is literally unbeatable on planet earth. We added a few ribs to the order those were great too. If I return to El Paso I'm going back. And I'm buying a tee shirt.

Yelp
I am actually from out of town and it was my fathers birthday on Jan 11. I wanted to do something special and send over a nice dinner for my parents as well as extra for left overs for the coming few days. Everyone kept telling me to order from Famous Dave's but working in the restaurant industry myself, I understand the importance of making sure family owned businesses stay open in these unprecedented times. That being said I shot a late email to Tony's asking if someone could contact me possibly the next day to help me place an order. In all retrospect I actually didn't expect a response so soon. Martha Vargas whom I believe is part of the family that owns this amazing spot personally emailed me back with her phone number early in the morning. We spent a little bit of time going over what my parents might like as well as what would be good to store for later in the freezer. She truly went ABOVE AND BEYOND let me tell you. She had her take out team not only pack a hot dinner for my parents for the evening but pack all the extra in freezer bags already separated and ready to store. I got to see my parents reaction on Facetime when the received the food and although im not from the area and do not know restaurants in El Paso, I know I ordered from the correct place when my father exclaimed "OH MY GOD TONYS??!!!! WOW!!!!!!" I cannot express enough how much the staff went out of their way to make my father feel so special even through a pandemic bday. As you can see from the picture, he was walking on cloud nine. From the bottom of my heart from a daughter not able to hug her family in over a year that as lives in Los Angeles, thank you.

Yelp
I'm from out of town and when i come to El Paso, i try to stop in. I still love love their beef hash burritos. They are excellent! Service is always prompt. Ambiance is ok. Overall - great food and highly recommended!

Andy V.

Yelp
The food here is great. It's a small dated place but you don't come for the atmosphere you come for the best brisket in town. I always get it to go cause they don't serve alcoholic beverages. Even the sides put the other bb q places here to shame.

Frank L.

Yelp
The food here was great, and the staff is very friendly. I was very happy with everything we got. The interior is kinda dated but to me, it shows just how good the food is (this place thrives based solely on the food). Will definitely come again if I'm in the area.

Robert N.

Yelp
Just off the Jet in El Paso. Straight JOJ! Had to try this local hole. Middle of the road BBQ. Ordered the number #3 plate two meats. Beef and Chicken, Chile Cheese Fries n a drink. Price was good, service fast but not accurate. Forget the Chile cheese Fries completely. Brought out Fries, no Chile, then brought out Cheese sauce?. The place was packed. The beef was a bit fatty and the Chicken Dry. Both feel apart. Once you got thru to the beef it was very good. But the chicken was a loss. The sauce n green Chile were on point. Again middle of the road.

Doug A.

Yelp
Great food. Flew into town and this was recommended to me. Really enjoyed the food and reasonable prices. You cannot go wrong here!

Patricia S.

Yelp
Catered 3 meat & 2 sides for Thanksgiving; all was great. If I'm ever in El Paso again, I'd like to try them in person.

Todd D.

Yelp
Service was great and friendly but the bbq was average. Brisket was good but the pork ribs were not.

Brenda E.

Yelp
Delicious food and great customer service! Passing by on our way home to Phoenix AZ and restaurant came up with great reviews. It's a small family owned restaurant since 1958, hidden in an Industrial area.

Wendy A.

Yelp
The food and service were amazing!! The meat is tender and can eat it with a fork. Had to get it packed to go as portions are huge! It's definitely a place for lunch or dinner.

Richard M.

Yelp
Great sandwiches and the service is always friendly and professional. I always ask for some burnt tips.

Daddy L.

Yelp
Order the beef sandwich I ordered a beef sandwich I stopped here on a lunch break , OUTSTANDING GREAT BEEF SANDICH , service is a 10 try it a establishhment with be lots of history and great food

Dang N.

Yelp
The BBQ here is solid, nothing amazing but solid. I wouldn't turn down this BBQ. Third family generation owned which is pretty cool. They're very friendly and they'll accommodate whatever you want if you want to mix up a plate or change it up whatever. I ordered the brisket and some ribs. They do serve you verde salsa which is a first for me with BBQ. It's ok.

Nikki L.

Yelp
I love Tony's BBQ! My husband and I have been going there for years. Pre-pandemic it was one of our occasional lunch spots. It's nice to visit a place where the staff is friendly and feel like family. After the pandemic, they've been taking extra measures to stay safe while still serving good food. Their dine-in-option is unavailable at the moment, but they do have curbside pickup. Also they are now open on Saturdays!! I love that they added that extra day. We can now enjoy good bbq on the weekends too! Regarding the food, I always get their regular brisket sandwich. The meat is moist. The sandwich itself has mustard, pickles, onions and you can ask for the sauce on the side. They even have a green chili sauce that gives the sandwich a nice kick. I also love their macaroni salad. It's a simple salad, and it just feels like something homemade. Lastly, I always get their chili bowl. I am not a big fan of chili with chunks of onions and this one has no onions. It's more of a meat and bean chili. It's not too salty, and I usually add their tangy bbq sauce to give it a kick. Overall this is an establishment that I will continue to visit. I can see why it's been around for many many years. It is great all around!

Evelyn D.

Yelp
They have the best sandwiches and service in town, I recommend their food 100% their bbq is incomparable and delicious

Irene s.

Yelp
Great food and service . I ordered ham )by the pound)so delicious then brisket was so good and last but not least sausage.great. Going back there again.

Ralfie V.

Yelp
One of our oldest BBQ places in El Paso if not one of the firsts, this place here is a mark off your bucket list because they have some of the best hash to go along with your Q not to mention their super friendly

Todd D.

Yelp
We wanted to hit up Desert Oak BBQ but was closed (Tuesday). Tony's showed up on Yelp and was open so we headed that way from the airport. Been there since 1958. Brisket bark was very tough but meat was well done. Sauce needed on the side but was excellent. Ribs juicy and tasty. Sides (mac and potato) was very good. Very friendly staff and very generous. Be sure to beat the lunch crowd due to smallish dining room.

Tina G.

Yelp
Yummy! A great find for us California girls. One had beef and one had ham. So tender and tasty. Delicious barbecue flavor sauce too. Small and cozy place to eat.

Melissa Y.

Yelp
An icon since 1958. The specials are great and as one gentleman said , "the best". The brisket melted in your moth and baby back ribs fell of the bones and also melted in your mouth. I had a little treat of the crust added to my sandwich and it gave a little kick. The sauce was subtle and enhanced the flavor of the meat. Sweet tea was fresh brewed and not to sweet but refreshing and complementing to the meal. This was a great find, because all the other BBQ places were closed today.. The best was saved for us.. Make sure you get in before the lunch rush because this place is an industrial area. Mmmmm mmm good everyone was so friendly staff and customers. Will be back next time I am in El Paso.

Jay T.

Yelp
Tried this little place based on reviews. Have to say I was less than satisfied. I love how they slice up the meat fresh right in front of you and it seems all texas style BBQ inside, and the smell is amazing-mouth watering in fact... but the food was all super bland... even especially the sauce which is also homemade but just brown and blah. We were reaching for the salt and pepper just to add some flavor. I had the 3 meat plate with sides and my dining partner had a sausage sandwich and we added the daily special of ribs cuz ... hello! Ribs! But it was just all "meh". The staff is SUPER friendly and that helped make up for the lack of flavor on the food....We prob won't return. They had a line out the door by lunch time and were making sandwiches like crazy So they are doing something SOME PEOPLE like... just not us...

Elliott N.

Yelp
Delicious food. Had beef sandwich with a side to two ribs. Love their sauce. Wife had a side of pork and coleslaw. Would definitely recommend.

Alex B.

Yelp
Working at the medical center I popped up Yelp to look for BBQ in the area and Yelp dropped me here. I had a beef special and ordered a extra pulled pork sandwich. Everything was great and I kept throwing down the BBQ sauce to make it sloppy. Both sandwiches were tender and full of flavor. I like paprika on my macaroni salad color, but Tony's worked well. I also saw that they had burritos using all the different meats. Good decor showing the family and photos from the past. Plan to go again when in El Paso.

Rick C.

Yelp
Awesome BBQ. Super friendly. Great prices. Definitely make the trip to this little "whole in the wall" local BBQ joint. Worth the trip.
