12 Best Rooftop Bars to Visit in Savannah, Georgia | Eater Carolinas

"Located in the Cotton Sail Hotel, Top Deck’s unobstructed views of the riverway make it ideal for watching Savannah’s annual Boat Parade of Lights. The financially prudent Wine Wednesdays and happy hour deals attract the under-30 crowd, laying the groundwork for a rowdy mid-week hangout. If you’re visiting with a large group, order a table tower, which is 88 ounces of mimosas or your choice of draft beer." - Kiki Dy

The views are beautiful! They have indoor and outdoor seating. We chose outdoor! You can sit on the shady side or at the table with a big awning covering them! The server was wonderful and made it so fun. The drinks were incredible! We got a couple appetizers to snack on. The pretzel was delicious. The charcuterie board was amazing! The local honeycomb was a great touch!

Google
Top deck is a good spot to view the river. The food was surprisingly good for a rooftop spot. We had the cheese burger sliders and the crispy shrimp. Both were better than expected. The shrimp was light and crispy as it was air fried. The sliders also very good and cooked perfectly. Outside tables not as clean as I’d like and showing wear. The drinks are very good. Views are great.

Google
Great views, alright drinks, a bit wanting for service. Not sure anyone came up to us the hour or so we were here, but we were able to get drinks from the bar and watch a few container ships come & go.

Google
It seems like rooftop bars are the new fad and some are definitely better than others. This spot is fantastic! We didn't order any food so I cannot give any review or rating for that. But the location is perfect. I think whether you go during the day, at dusk, or night, you're going to get a great view. There's comfortable seating like couches, but also tables with high tops and one of the best parts is there is a bar height table that goes around the balcony with bar stools where you can see and really enjoy the view. The cocktails were great as well. I would definitely recommend and go back!

Google
We had thought of enjoying river view with few bites and drinks and this place was perfect choice! They had best music and staff and food is awesome they seem to be too busy yet operating every one with a smile

Google
Great food at the rooftop bar on the this hotel. Great views up top too.

Google
Sitting at the wall facing the river is absolutely amazing. Great views and it's not crowded. Plenty of room for several people. Hummus with pita and the pretzel were both great.

Google
Top-notch view from the Rooftop while sipping a cocktail or enjoying a beer. We loved topdeck salad, hummus and roasted brussels sprouts. A variety of drinks and bites for everyone, friendly atmosphere. Lift from the river front

Yelp
The Good: another rooftop bar on the river with great views of both the river and river street. Has seating inside and outside and a bar inside. Easy access with an elevator. Our server was very attentive although they did need more help as she was bouncing between a lot of groups. The food was good. Enjoyed the tacos. The Bad: they were out of several side items even on a slower Thursday early evening. So I can't imagine a busier night. Overall small menu but for a rooftop bar style location this isn't a true "bad" just making note for those searching for food.

Yelp
Food was just alright, it's not worth it for the price taste wise, quantity you get your bang for your buck but nothing stood out to me that was jaw dropping good. Service was alright the employees could tell we were not from Savannah so they helped where they could, they did seem a little annoyed but I'm not sure at what and I'm also dramatic maybe we were be annoying It looked like a fun bar for sports games though just not a girls bachelorette trip the locals sitting next to us talked to our party more than the employees

Yelp
Day drinking in Savannah offers lots of options, we met up with a few friends during our trip over from Hilton Head Island for an afternoon of cocktails and good conversation. After a mediocre lunch down by the river we decided to find a venue with a great view so we landed here. The interior bar was mostly empty and the rooftop deck had a few patrons drinking local brews which is pretty abundant here in the "Hostess City of the South". We opted to sit outside at a partially shaded high-top table facing the river, fortunately there were a few fans pointed our way to cut through the humidity. This is a beautiful bar and the service today was exceptional which may be attributed to the number of people here but none the less this was my experience others seem to feel differently. There are lots of choices here whether you're a beer drinker, a whiskey aficionado or a wine connoisseur - I chose a can beer brewed by the local Service Brewery named Señor Delicisos, it was ice cold and served with a lime wedge, it's a play on the Mexican lager beer industry and a delicious rendition I must say. I was hoping this perch would provide an exceptional view of any giant container ships that may be entering or exiting the harbor, unfortunately there was only one older smaller vessels that was less than impressive but it still offered something to look at through our beer goggles. This open air rooftop bar is very clean and organized with great furnishings inside and out, our server Kenzie was on top of things and checked in often without being a distraction. This is definitely a spot I recommend trying out if you're in town or a resident...

Yelp
We were looking for somewhere with yummy appetizers for an early dinner and this was perfect. We got the charcuterie board, the Brussels, and the spinach artichoke dip and everything was phenomenal!! Very quick service and good views as well.

Yelp
Had a fun afternoon at top deck. The mojitos were delicious. The server was great but the service itself was pretty slow. Pretzel was just okay I prefer it chewier and it was more crunchy - but for a beautiful ambiance and great value for food and cocktails this is a solid spot. Staff were working hard but it would have been helpful if they had one more waitress on duty so our gal didn't have to run in circles around the place. Overall though we very much enjoyed our visit as we were not in a rush!

Yelp
Wasn't expecting much after reading the reviews but was pleasantly surprised. We ended up here after learning that our first choice of rooftop bar was closed for a private party (annoying) as this had happened to us a couple times lately with rooftop bars. Anyway, most of the bad reviews were based on bad service, but we had a great server! Ask for Kenzie, she was very attentive and quick! Had a great view of the river and bridge and the drinks were pretty good. I knocked off one star just for the lack of outdoor ambiance and the plastic cups they use.

Yelp
After walking around in the hot Savannah heat we stumbled across Top Deck Bar. We decided to eat an drink indoors instead of their massive patio. Service 5 stars. Our waitress had a lot of tables, but didn't seem to handle going all over the restaurant. Food: 3 stars. I would say for a bite to eat or appetizers it was good. We pretty much ordered all the appetizers and crab cake sliders. Ambiance : 4 stars. it would be a great place to have a sunset bite or drink to watch the sunset.
google avatar

Julia H.

Yelp
Ambiance was great, great music with live dj and views of the river. Service left more to be desired, but I would recommend if you are looking for a rooftop bar.

Yelp
I tried out Top Deck in the evening for a meal. You have to travel up for the 6th floor in the elevator of the hotel to get there. Originally I sat myself outside as the sign said at the unoccupied host stand. However, after sitting outside for 15 minutes and not having a server come up to me I went to the bar. The service at the bar was great, the bartenders were friendly and accommodating. I enjoyed my time at the bar. But the food was sub bar. I did not enjoy the Brussels sprouts. They were slightly undercooked, the stem is supposed to be tender. These were tough and inedible. Not what I was looking for in an appetizer. The tacos were good, just not sensational. Could use more flavor in the chicken, to enhance the dish and take it a step further. Cool atmosphere and decent prices but in terms of food quality I think a 3/5 is generous.

Yelp
I'm giving my 5-star review as someone who went to Top Deck just for drinks and the sunset view. My husband and I took the elevator up to Top Deck rooftop bar knowing that there were a lot of people and we may not get seats (you can see it from the street). We got pretty lucky when we walked outside to the roofdeck, as a guy came up to us and asked us if we wanted their seats since they were leaving, and they had the two corner seats that faced the street/bridge! I had a spicy pineapple margarita, and my husband had a beer. My drink was fantastic, not overly sweet, definitely had a kick to it, I found a jalapeño seed and everything. I can say it's one of the best margs I've had in a while. This place is highly recommended for the drink+sunset experience in River Street!

Yelp
I went there looking to do some remote working and I was out of juice. They were lovely and gave me a great spot where I could plug in. Had a drink. Fold was good. Service was excellent. Great decor and views.

Sasha A.

Yelp
Located on the top floor of the Cotton Sails Hotel on Bay Street. We sat at the inside bar. The outside has a nice view of the river. Decent drink menu. We split the pasta salad and for only 5 bucks it was very good. The young female bartender was attentive but looked like she'd rather be anywhere but working. Sat on the coolers much of the time we were there on her phone. The inside is pretty bland and stark. Overall I've been to better rooftop bars in Savannah than this.
google avatar

Elizabeth M.

Yelp
Great views and service. They have a $3 rose all day deal which was awesome. I got the crab cake sliders and was happy with that choice.
google avatar

Caroline A.

Yelp
Went on Mother's Day, there were only 2 of us. We had to ask 2 different servers for water & to help us order or get a new server, since we were left sitting for ~45 minutes. When we finally were helped, only one drink we ordered was brought to us. Waited another hour 15 for our food, only for it to be brought out cold. Should've just walked out. Disappointed in service and food, especially with it being on Mother's Day & not a packed day. [there were empty tables all around, it clearly wasn't a rush.] Additionally, our server lied about having to call 911 for another table as an excuse for why he forgot about us. But thank god he "didn't charge us for the sweet tea, since it came late." Lol

Cory W.

Yelp
Walked in and got treated like a tourist, not a spot for the locals. Had to wait a long time between beers just to get yelled at by the staff about using the wrong door. Lock the door if you don't want people to use it. Didn't try the food so can't speak to that part but the staff could use a little help with the friendliness and how the approach customers. If you going to relay on the generosity of others to pay your bills, you should at least pretend to care.
google avatar

Chris W.

Yelp
Wonderful rooftop views & great drink menu. I love the location & prices are reasonable. Friendly service but maybe a little short a little short staffed - it takes a while for seats to be cleared after patrons leave.
google avatar

Jay W.

Yelp
This rooftop bar was too much: too loud (music), too loud (nearby guests), and too expensive (compared to what you receive). It was our first stop in downtown Savannah and we were hoping for a nice view and refreshing rest but we got neither since the view is a lot obscured and the refreshments were a little overpriced. Worst of all the bar next door is so loud that we couldn't hear ourselves think (and had to raise our voices to simply talk). Avoid this place unless you want lots of booming bass and drinks of average quality.
google avatar

Gerald H.

Yelp
Stayed at the Cotton Sail while in Savannah and after a post dinner walk up and down the river - we decided to have one at the rooftop deck bar. They had obviously had a crowded night - bc the place was a wreck. Ordered a couple drinks and sat out on the ledge. This would be a cool spot to go and hang out in the fall - but summer time at peak heat could be uncomfortable.
google avatar

Courtney C.

Yelp
TRIGGER WARNING I mean freaking seriously. It's either the hotel's fault or the bar's fault. Come one, man. Or both. Ladies bathroom. Worst part, the darn bar smelled like 2006; a dark, dingy college house party. Yuck. Really might've been the lowest part of our whole vacation. Plus, the one cranberry vodka I got was not even good. Bad cranberry juice? No clue but bleh. Hey they did ask for vodka preference and also had Kettle One in stock. No lime in the drink?
google avatar

Arlene F.

Yelp
Great sunset view. Food was decent bar food. Excellent service. Weird rule that you can't move the tables yourself but whatever.
google avatar

Jess H.

Yelp
What a fun place to visit! It's a little confusing to actually get up to the rooftop but once you are up there the views are incredible! We only stopped in for one drink as we needed to beat the heat but can see how this would be a fun place for some day drinking. I'm taking off a star for a few different reasons: one, the service wasn't the best and two, inside smelled, interesting. While it didn't impact us too much as we were outside, when you came in to go to the bathroom it was very unpleasant. Almost smelled like stale beer? It wasn't great but once outside it was much better. Good for one, probably not more than that.
google avatar

Alexis P.

Yelp
A little short staffed but super nice staff, clean and fun ambiance, great music playlist, endless games to play while you wait as well as sports on the TVs, lots of indoor and outdoor seating, tasty food, beautiful presentation, and it came out fairly quickly! Overall, delicious and really enjoyable experience. I'm so glad our stay at the Cotton Sail included breakfast because this was an amazing way to start each morning.
google avatar

Lisa F.

Yelp
I only went for after dinner drinks. The drinks were good and stiff. The bartenders are definelty pros at their job. The waitress was a little absent, even on a slow night BUT the atmosphere and views were amazing. I would definitely return for the drinks and rooftop.
google avatar

Jim L.

Yelp
This was a nice place to go for food and drinks. It has a great view over River Street and the Savannah River. Nice pictures as it starts to get dark. They had sever interesting craft cocktail options. Our party of 9 all enjoyed their drinks and the view. I took pictures of the menus. Enjoy Savannah, we did! See you on Yelp. Happy Yelping

Yelp
I liked the views from this place! Located right next to The Nest at the top of the hotel (there are signs in the lobby). Great views of the river and good drinks! They have $3 Rosé on the weekends! I got the classic mojito and it was perfect for a hot, August Savannah afternoon.
google avatar

Jaclyn K.

Yelp
The rooftop is fun with a great view overlooking the river. The food is just okay, though, and the service was sooooo slow and inattentive to us.
google avatar

Athena B.

Yelp
10/10 highly recommend for the view! The prices aren't terrible for a roof top bar either! We had. Great day of weather and a fun time on the roof!

Randy N.

Yelp
Service was excellent. Great recommendations and super nice staff. Drinks were well made! Great views!
google avatar

Zachary L.

Yelp
We are staying at the hotel. There are two bars which is weird both on the 6th floor. We tried Nest first very nice and associated with the hotel. Top Deck, no idea as the signs read "seat yourself" when my wife and I went out on the patio, we waited 8mins and never got greeted. I walked inside to the bar to see four behind the counter and only three customers at the bar. And stood their for several mins. We never got served. The place was not busy, more staff than customers. We went back to Nest down the hall.
google avatar

Lauryn T.

Yelp
Great drinks but kind of mediocre food. Great sights overlooking the river. The brussel sprouts I would absolutely recommend.

Laurie M.

Yelp
Visiting in Savannah first time and hit up Top Deck. Had fabulous cocktails from Jason, split the tacos and enjoyed the view. Our server/bartender Jason took great care of us and made sure we were well taken care of. I will be back! Thanks Jason it was fun!
google avatar

Anya B.

Yelp
Enjoyed a happy hour sunset here and loved the view of the river. The rose all day deal made it super affordable at $3 a glass. I also had the pasta salad and Brussels sprouts and both were tasty. The menu seemed a little limited, but otherwise can't complain!
google avatar

Jacky J.

Yelp
Food was pretty good, but they will not make any modifications for food or drink unless you're allergic. I guess it has something to do with slowing down the efficiency of the kitchen. I find this pretty ridiculous because literally McDonald's does modifications and it doesn't slow their kitchen down... we were not asking for anything extra, just to take things off. So we all had to pick off what we didn't want when it came, which is frustrating. Price was fair. Drinks were good but we had to wait a long time for them to come. Service was okay but parties 6 and over cannot split the check and gratuity was automatic, so she knew she was getting 20% no matter what. The ambiance was nice and the view was cool.

Melissa H.

Yelp
Food was terrible, drinks very very expensive, and the service was slow and rude. Because we had a large party, we couldnt split checks. The best part is the view!
google avatar

Erin S.

Yelp
This review is for drinks only. We didn't get food. We got the Caribbean Cruise ($13) and Scattered Sun Belgian Wit ($6). The cocktail was fine. The beer was good. We sat outside. The view was nice at sunset. Our waiter was wearing his mask as a chinstrap. They didn't require customers to wear masks. Saw another waitress cleaning silverware with her mask down too. They're not taking Covid seriously at all and I would not go back.
google avatar

Cherise I.

Yelp
The ambiance was excellent, service was great, although the food was tasty I was just expecting better considering how the menu presented itself. But the drinks were really good!
google avatar

Aimee C.

Yelp
Kind and patient server, great food, awesome drinks, amazing view, good vibe. I'm on a girls weekend away and it was raining and most people would think "don't go to a rooftop bar"...well this one has awnings! Big win!

Lydia CreativeLearning B.

Yelp
Very busy. Not a place for table service dining. Food was great. View from upstairs is perfect on a lovely day.
google avatar

Harry G.

Yelp
Took and spent the day wandering around downtown yesterday and found this rooftop bar and it is a nice gem that I'm glad I have found. The views of the river are stunning and was able to watch large ships coming in while enjoying great drinks and yummy snacks. There small plates are delicious. Had their southern egg roll which is a bean and collard green stuffed delight. Their cheese board was large and sumptuous. Highly recommend that for some tasty snacking while enjoying the views. Their drinks are good and their watermelon margarita is beyond dangerous cause it goes down way too quickly. If youre looking for a nice rooftop bar, give this place a try, you won't be disappointed.
google avatar

Laura P.

Yelp
Very cool spot!!! I think no one else really knows about it based off the reviews, but this place was perfect! Great views and food. They have $3 rose all day. The dip was very very creamy...as in I think they used way too much cream cheese and should've given more veggies instead. But that's just me. The bread served with was delicious. Brussel sprouts were good, but I wish they had cut more off the ends. Some had weird sticks at the bottom that should've been cut off (you can see in the picture). Next time we visit Savannah, we will come here.
google avatar

Grace B.

Yelp
Such a great place with a wonderful view of the river. I went with three other people and we ended up ordered a variety of appetizers and sharing. Perfect place for a light lunch.
google avatar

Lori L.

Yelp
Two words "Cheese Platter" Two more "Food Poisoning" Two more "Never Again" It cost us another night at our hotel (JW Marriott) because we were too sick to drive. If I stayed at the hotel where the restaurant is, (Hilton) I would have demanded that they pay!
google avatar

Christy W.

Yelp
Come for the views. You really can't get a better view of the river, bridge, downtown Savannah, and the Riverwalk. The service was VERY slow on a Wednesday night (and the restaurant wasn't crowded). It took a very long time to get menus, then to order our drinks, get food, etc. I ordered the pork tacos, they were good! They only have flour tortillas though. My friend ordered one of the salads, but they forgot to ask about dressing, the salad came out with a side of ranch (which she didn't want) and it took a while to flag down the waitress again to get a different dressing. If you visit, I recommend ordering a drink at the bar (I assume service is faster there) and if you want a cheap drink, they have something called "rosé all day" which is $3 for a glass of either sparkling or flat rosé, all day everyday!
google avatar

Jennifer T.

Yelp
My husband I had a great time hanging out enjoying the scenery with a few cocktails and great food!
google avatar

Dionah T.

Yelp
This place is lovely on a nice evening. With a drink and a few friends, I highly recommend visiting the Top Deck. The breeze off the river complimented by lighting from Savannah night life makes for a perfect night of good vibes at Top Deck. I came across this place by pure accident (I was actually headed somewhere else) but I love rooftops and had to check it out. It's easy to walk past the door since it's a single entrance but look for the signage and it's straight forward once you're inside - take the elevator to "Top Deck". The kitchen was closed when I arrived, I wasn't hungry, but appreciated the bartender being upfront about it. I ordered a Strawberry Schooner and it was made perfectly. Depending on availability, grab a seat outside and enjoy the view - if you're like my friend and don't prefer to sit near the edge, it is big enough for you to relax without having to see over the edge. Nonetheless, go check them out!!

Yelp
Good vibe... food and drinks are affordable. Service was good, the staff was friendly. The view was amazing!
google avatar

Michael E.

Yelp
I would not recommend this place even it were the last place in Savannah where I could eat or drink. We were supposed to have planned an event there. After weeks of planning or I should say attempting to plan and very little, if any response from the manager, who, by the way, would never give us his phone number, only email. We were concerned that if we did not have good service before the event, that the event would be a complete disaster. Two weeks before the event we reneged, and they still tried to charge us $500 for services that were never rendered. Contracts were never presented or signed. We had a fabulous event at Bar Julian in The Thompson Hotel. It is newer and much much more our style.
google avatar

Jim O.

Yelp
If my visit is typical -NO ONE needs to come here. Place is kind of dirty. Deck is bare bones. Sat at bar - only two others seated. 1 bartender. The couple ordered two drinks- I asked for refill on water. He made 1 drink - left to use his cellphone and change music. Upon returning he remembered he forgot 2nd drink- still no water for me. I finally asked waitress for some. Ordered spinach dip - which tasted good. Bread had knife marks across top, but wasn't cut. REALLY $8 for a bottle of modelo - with this service and dirt?
google avatar

Wissal E.

Yelp
Great view but as far as food, we were not impressed. The menu choices are limited. The sandwiches come with nothing. It felt like they were better fit for an airline mini meal (on economy). Also, a big turn off was having to hear one of the staff members (a blue-haired young lady) drop a few F bombs while talking out like with her long-haired male co-worker. She was loud and when I made eye contact with her, she was unfazed and just said, "Hello".. I don't think we will be back.. too bad on our brief visit to Savannah, this was the place we picked..
google avatar

Michael W.

Yelp
Great views of the river way and fantastic monday Margarita happy hour deal. My girlfriend and I really enjoyed the $4 margs and the sweet potato chips while sitting in the sun
