Wow, well where to begin. Chose this place near by Son's Brookline apartment, where we could all find something on the menu. Made a reservation, unnecessary at 530 pm on a Sunday. Music was blaring very loudly like it was disco time, but only one table was occupied besides our threesome. Lighting was pink or purple from neon, made the food looks strange. Odd ambience for such an early hour. Ordered a tropical drink and some cokes. Drink was called One night in Old San Juan and was sweet, but unremarkable.
Went straight to the entrees without appetizers this time. Son ordered a burger with maple and bacon side fries, and seemed pretty satisfied. Spouse and I both ordered the tropical rice bowl. He had the Caribbean honey baked chicken, hold the avocado. I had the grilled shrimp with no beans on my bowl. I asked for the shrimp to be grilled well done, as opposed to sauteed but they came out mushy anyway. Orders were accurate but we did not enjoy our meals. Sad because the ingredients were hard to find under the MOUNTAIN of sauces piled on the rice bowl. Glop squirted all over, glop of multiple kinds, even, which obscured any flavor for the meats. The bone in chicken was impossible to eat in a bowl. Super messy but nice char. A side plate would have been appreciated. Anyway, did NOT take our massive leftovers home because of the glop. Never again.
