Hampton Inn watering hole featuring views of the Nationals Park baseball field & city monuments.
"You can see home plate from the Top Of The Yard, which we think is reason enough to head to this Navy Yard spot on game day. But come here any night when there isn’t a game scheduled for a surprisingly calming experience—if you grab a seat by the glass overlooking the Anacostia River, you can watch sailboats and rowers glide by under the setting sun. The drinks are just fine, but they’re cheap for a rooftop, topping out at about $12. When the crosswinds blow just right, the heat from the giant fire pit in front of the television hits you before a cool breeze does, keeping the temperature perfect all night. "The Hampton Inn Washington DC-Navy Yard might seem like a typical Hampton Inn, but catch the elevator up to Top of the Yard, and you'll find an urban refuge with amazing views—you can scan the progress of the surrounding Capitol Riverfront development and practically watch the game in Nationals Park . There's a bit of greenery up here in the form of tree boxes and Astroturf, as well as plastic wicker furniture and gas fire pits. There are baseball-themed cocktails, like a Triple Play margarita or a Sluggers Punch, with Malibu and Myers's rums, orange and pineapple juices, and grenadine. You can also order a bucket of Coronas or Buds, bottles of Devil's Backbone or Goose Island, and wines on tap. If you like ballpark food, you're in for some good eats: think soft pretzels, Old Bay wings, tater tots, brats, hot dogs, and burgers." - Adele Chapin
"Don’t have a ticket to the baseball game? Not to worry—this popular bar atop the Hampton Inn & Suites overlooks Nationals Park stadium with a view straight across home plate. Arrive early to secure a good spot and celebrate the roaring energy of a game day with buckets of beer and a baseball-themed bar menu. Even if the Nationals are playing out of town, the bar’s panoramic views of the Navy Yard, the developing Capitol Riverfront neighborhood, the Anacostia River, and the Washington Monument are impressive." - Susan Mason
