I had the pleasure of visiting Topaz for the first time, and it was truly an unforgettable experience. I ordered the beet salad and the whitefish—both dishes were outstanding, packed with flavor, and beautifully presented. The service was exceptional: friendly, professional, and perfectly attentive without ever feeling intrusive. The ambiance of the restaurant is elegant yet welcoming, with a warm atmosphere that made the entire experience even more enjoyable. Highly recommend Topaz for anyone looking for a refined dining experience with excellent food and top-tier service.

Work and play in ft Lauderdale and This was our first time at Topaz Cafe, and I must say, it was remarkable. Everything from the food & service to the atmosphere was 5 starts, highly recommended, FANTASTIC. I almost need to mention their top-notch cocktails. reasonable pricing. Highly recommend. Great happy hour!!

We hosted a bridal shower for my daughter and couldn’t have been happier with our venue choice! Food was great, service was outstanding, and planning was a breeze with Becky! They accommodated all my gluten free and vegan guests with no issues. Couldn’t get my guest to leave! Perfect afternoon for a special bride to be!

As a vegetarian I really appreciate all of the options available here. The beet hummus was the best hummus I've ever had and it also tasted so fresh. The eggplant gateau was out of this world delicious. We also enjoyed the drinks and dessert and our server was so nice and attentive. I also think it's awesome they rotate risotto daily and use so many veggies.

Google
New place, liked it. I'm Gluten-free so they had some items, no bread, but went above and beyond so I could have some great food. Only complaint was the flour less tort that we spoke to the waitress about who said their pastry chef is fine so this was what they had. I never leave chocolate cake on the plate, so that was a first. I hope they get some gluten free bread and pasta options, and cocktail sause with horseradish for the oysters. I'll definitely come back. The service was amazing, the private rooms are great. Highly recommend! Very well priced!

Google
I love going to Topaz. The food is top notch and never overpriced. Lovely atmosphere. The staff is so friendly and you can really see the love the owner and his whole family put into it. The wines are well selected and paired if you want a recommendation, and the whipped potatoes are divine. I normally get perfectly balanced halibut dishes when we go, and the steak and pasta are also excellent. The beet salad is a favorite as well. The patio is beautiful... it's just a gem of a restaurant that makes me so glad I skipped downtown Hinsdale every time. Highly recommend!

Google
The food and atmosphere was amazing. Our server Chris was exceptional and attentive. I absolutely loved the Gin juniper berry tonic drink. Please keep this on the menu every fall/winter season. And the apple crisp was phenomenal as well; wish I could order a pan or it. Will be recommending to all my friends and family.

Google
This is a hidden gem!!! I live in the city and have friends in the southern suburbs and Burr Ridge is the best meeting spot and Topaz is phenomenal! We sat on the gorgeous outside patio. We had baked goat cheese, chalk flower, beer salad, peach salad and the beef brisket and it was PHENOMENAL! The service was so great too! Will definitely come back !

Yelp
After trying to do a happy hour at a close restaurant, we left due to no service. Experience was horrible as we met the hostess who didn't want to be there. Walked into Topaz, met with a a hostess who wanted to be there. Waitress arrived within a minute. Corey had a smile, laughter, personality, knew the menu, offered a drink...wait did I get a waitress? She was AWESOME! She was constantly coming to the table, servers brought food in a timely manner, she provided second set of silverware after appetizers...wait did I get a waitress? SHE WAS AWESOME! I couldn't tell you if I enjoyed the food or not as the experience at the restaurant was AWESOME! Thanks Corey. Decor was great. Food was good. They should call Eddie Merlots and tell them to keep scaring away customers! If you get the lemoncello, you will not be disappointed at all! Some of the best I've ever had! Lastly THANKS COREY for saving the night!

Yelp
Great spot for a date night or a lovely family dinner. The service was outstanding, though it is on the pricier side. Portion sizes are a bit small, but the food was delicious. We visited on a weekend, but the restaurant was quite empty.

Yelp
Couldn't make reservation because of a snow storm that made it unsafe to drive, and they charged me 50$ for canceling the reservation. Not cool.

Yelp
Looking for fresh seafood? Great selection of cocktails? Nice lightening? You've found it at Topaz Cafe! Came here for lunch on a Friday afternoon and it was a slow day so I knew service was going to be top tier. Our server helped my mentor and I select our beverages. If you cherish or adore your dark liquors, I highly recommend the Peacemaker. It is not as strong as an old fashion but it definitely hits the spot and will leave you feeling good off one cocktail. We ordered the Great Lakes whitefish and the salmon sandwich. Both were pretty large in size which is appropriate given the price. I assumed with my salmon burger being so massive, I would not have fished it, nope. With its lightness and crispy outside, it completely devoured it. It melted in your mouth which I was not expecting! I'd return again - especially for the speciality cocktails!

Yelp
Service: 10/10. Extremely attentive service. Food: 6/10. Oysters were congealed, lobster bisque was lukewarm and didn't have any chunks of lobster in it, and there was no complimentary bread. In regard to the main dishes, the short rib dish was tender. Unfortunately, the short rib in the pasta was not. It was dry and tough. I enjoyed the pasta, but I didn't feel like there was enough for the price.

Yelp
Food and service at Topaz are outstanding! Ambiance is very warm and I love how owner Branko is there most of the nights to greet his guests! I celebrate my birthday at this restaurant almost every year!

Yelp
I just wanted a quiet evening with the girls, an evening full of laughs, drinks, and Great food! Well, that's what I got Saturday night at Topaz. What a chic restaurant with a laidback vibe and a beautiful floral setting. And let me tell you, every food and beverage item that was brought out was amazing! No complaints! Everything was really good! Midnight in Paris was a really good drink that was also refreshing. The bread had the consistency of cake and was warm and soft to perfection. The brussels had me coming back for more. My clam chowder was so delicious that I wished I ordered a bowl. My main entree, the Great Lakes Whitefish, was very flavorful and light. The peach tart, I Don't Even Eat Tarts, was so good that it was finished in less than 10 minutes. I highly recommend paying a visit to Burr Ridge to experience Topaz. Your taste buds will thank you!

Yelp
Attentive service, pleasant environment, strong drinks and above average food. The Amish half chicken was flavorful with very crispy skin, unfortunately it was overly salty that we were still gobbling water hours later to shake the salt off of our tongs. Hopefully this was a one time slip. I enjoyed my short rib, it was tender and mildly seasoned. Thumbs up to the puréed mashed potatoes.
google avatar

Yelp
Way overpriced for mediocre and flavorless dishes. Not worth the money. Drinks were good, roasted potatoes were excellent. Greek salad had funky tasting chicken and steak was way over cooked yet had no char?! Grilled octopus had no flavor at all except a fishy aftertaste. Someone spent all their time plating intricately like this is a fancy place but they forgot to taste it...The service was excellent and I can't fault our waiter. But honestly it was a huge disappointment. It's also kind of suspicious that for every bad review here is instantly followed up by like 6 five stars reviews.. hard to believe those folks went to the same place as I did.

Yelp
I went to Topaz Cafe for a work event and everything that was presented to us was cooked perfectly. I have no idea why this restaurant has less than 5 stars. We had a 3 coarse meal...serving| Cesar Salad, and Bruschetta. Second coarse | NY Strip, Amish Chicken Brest, Roasted potatoes and brocollini and Lake Superior Whitefish. 3rd coarse featured Little bites of dessert. All was cooked to perfection. This restaurant is a must try. Also all the drinks were amazing. Service was amazing. This is a great place for a work event or a date night.

Yelp
Cute place, trendy. The outdoor patio looked amazing, sadly they couldn't accommodate us there. The service was rather slow. They just kind of forgot about us. But friendly nonetheless. I didn't love the food. It was grossly overpriced. City prices for the burbs- no thanks. The kids mac n cheese was not edible. Overall a fun experience because of the company, but I wouldn't go out of my way to come here again.

Yelp
Alex, the top-tier waiter, did a fantastic job. Everything he recommended was spectacular. His warm, welcoming personality made the night and the whole experience worthwhile. From the GTO cocktails to the entrées. Ordered Bone In Ribeye, Roasted Smashed Potatoes, and Sweet potato Ravioli. Everything was outstanding. Topaz have a California Beach vibe with a Miami ambience. A place to be.

Yelp
The food quality was a 5, ambience was a 4.5 (they had my favorite Christmas music playing!) and the service was a 3 - he was very friendly but had too many tables so the service was slooow. They also forgot it was my husband's birthday and there was no candle on the cake as I had hoped. However, the kale salad was so fresh and full of flavor it was like eating fresh-picked ingredients from a farm. The salmon and sea bass was out of this world! Fresh, seasoned to perfection with the perfect accompaniments to make the main course truly be the main attraction. The carrot cake was delicious and literally tasted homemade. We loved everything except for the somewhat disappointing service but that won't keep us from coming back.

Yelp
A lively and sophisticated dinner. Great service throughout, even on a somewhat busy night. Elegant and sleek interior, that does tend to get pretty loud. Calamari was standard. The kale salad was delicious. After sharing it was the perfect starter salad size. The perfectly ripe pear balanced out the vinaigrette nicely and pomegranate seeds are always a nice surprise. The pasta was the star of the show. Perfectly cooked butternut squash ravioli pillows were lightly covered in a creamy, yet light, sauce. The combination of creamy, sweet, and yet not too heavy that this dish strikes is incredibly hard to find.

Yelp
Have been going to Tooaz for years..always very solid from a food and service standpoint..can't go wrong. Plus you can typically get last minute reservations.

Yelp
I recently hosted a lunch for five on the covered porch, which is terrific on a beautiful day. I brought them to Topaz because I had good experiences in the past. The food today was okay but definitely not great which it once was. And unfortunately, the service was abysmal. We waited and waited until we finally begged for water. We then had to find someone to take our lunch orders, after waiting for a ridiculous amount of time. There were plenty of servers and the place was almost empty (now I know why). There were only three occupied tables outside and yet they set our table next to a loud party of ten. The server did not pay attention to what we needed or when. They were also out of one of the desserts, in the middle of the day! Additionally, there were errors on the checks and several prices on the bills were inflated, which we caught. As host, I tried to speak to the manager, who was in a meeting. The head waiter, although very nice and apologetic, was able to correct the pricing, but comped only two desserts when everyone was very upset. Needless to say, none of us will ever go back. Were the servers just lazy or do we blame management for poor training? And do we blame management for not being present and checking on customers? Is this what the pandemic has brought us? Poor service along with horribly inflated prices.

Colleen S.

Yelp
Excellent food - I had the whitefish for lunch. Friends had other excellent dishes. Portions were just right and cocktail choices were good. Ambiance nice too. Enjoyable meal. I'd definitely go here again. Wait staff was great. Allowed old friends to catch up without bugging you every two seconds. Perfect place for a meal.

Yelp
We came here last weekend and it was okay. The outdoor seating area was beautiful, and the charcuterie tray that we ordered was excellent. I ordered chicken and my husband, steak and both of those, were just okay. The steak was definitely not a prime cut, and wasn't cooked like a medium rare should be (there was no char out the outside).... Would I come back here? For the rosemary and olive oil focaccia bread-yes! And maybe to try hosting a shower or event in the outdoor area because it's really pretty back there.... But for dinner, I probably would not again: :(

Michelle P.

Yelp
Very great & friendly service. The food was good but the portions were on the smaller side. Would recommend and will probably be back.

Yelp
I had high hopes for this place. The menu sounded fabulous. I had a hard time deciding what I wanted it all sounded that good. What turned up was so thoroughly underwhelming , so sub par I actually felt ripped off. I can't remember feeling that way in recent memory. Let me clear our server was lovely. No gripes about him. Ordered a chickpea salad with peaches etc. was ok. The chickpeas were hard and raw. Ordered battered cauliflower. Was overly breaded and just blah. $13 for that. My friend chose the rigatoni. It came in runny buttery wine sauce. Had a few pea and despite the fact she said no tomatoes it had about 4 raw cherry tomatoes. No protein. That was $22. By my estimation that dish cost them about .22c. I had the steak frites. It was fine. But hardly worth $32. We decided they must have had no chef; just someone putting out plates. That's how it felt. It's beautiful inside but I will never go back. I work too hard to spend $120 on that sort of meal. I regret not pointing this out before we left. We just wanted to leave.

Yelp
Nice atmosphere! We celebrated my daughter's 22nd birthday here & a first time at the establishment. The outdoor patio seating was nice! The food was good. I had the filet mignon with asparagus. My son had the bucatini and my husband had the Amish half chicken. My daughter had the Maryland crab cakes and a salad. The portions were sufficient. Over all the food and atmosphere was great. I hate i didn't remember our waiters name but he was awesome in servicing us. Definitely a must try!

Yelp
We always enjoy Topaz,, the food is always high quality and the service is attentive. It's a bit on the pricier side so we don't go often.

Yelp
Great food, great environment, great service and quality! Fantastic restaurant that I didnt even know existed down the street from my office! We went here with a group of 20 for a senior VP retirement lunch and reserved the back section. We started off with some fantastic appetizers for our table. Hummus, Calamari and Spicy Cauliflower were all great and satiated both the carnivores and vegetarians at the table! For my main lunch entree I ordered the Lobster Roll and fries. The Lobster Roll was bigger than I was used to and tasted better than many that I have tried before. Everyone loved their choices and I didnt hear any complaints. For dessert, I ordered a coffee, Chocolate Lava Flow, Carrot Cake and Tres Gelatos for the table. All of the desserts were fantastic, especially the Chocolate Lava Flow! The prices here are towards the higher end but worth it especially if your company is paying for it! There are a lot of great hidden restaurants around here that I have to try. You should give Topaz a try as well. I definitely want to have a drink in the outdoor patio next time!

Cheryl A.

Yelp
Why did they discontinue serving bread?? Big mistake. Fried calamari was raw, ordered a special, risotto with grilled shrimp. Risotto was hard and some shrimp were cooked and some were raw. My husband liked his dinner but he was drunk so who knows. I expected much more from this restaurant especially because it's expensive. Valet parking was 20 bucks with the tip, are you kidding me? I'm never going back here again.

Yelp
After coming here for both Thanksgiving brunch and dinner, I can say I am very pleased by this restaurant. It is located in a nice mall with some essential shops and other nice restaurants as well. The interior is quite expansive with multiple personal rooms as well for larger celebrations. The ambiance is very modern chic, and at night, the dim lits sets a very intimate tone. In November, we came for their Thanksgiving brunch which was extensive and worth the costs! It was approximately $45 per person with an unlimited brunch that included a salad bar, ravioli, stuffing, turkey/ham, green bean casserole, finger desserts, and any other holiday essentials. The food was delicious, and my family and I really enjoyed the Prosecco and salad bar. One warning for vegetarians is to inquire about meat in any of the buffet items as I did not realize the stuffing would have meat until after a couple of bites. We returned yesterday for a family dinner which made me appreciate the restaurant even more. The took reservations to accommodate our larger party size of 7 people, and we were seated in an isolated alcove that was perfect for conversations. All of my family members and I shared various items including BBQ cauliflower, harvest salad, baked goat cheese, bruschetta, salmon, chicken, and risotto. Once again, the food was delicious, my favorite being the BBQ cauliflower that was a very unique dish I would definitely recommend! Our waitress was extremely friendly and funny, taking our pictures and being so accommodating. There were also regular waiters and servers that would refill our water and bring us more bread. All of these components including the festive decoration made this the perfect restaurant to celebrate the holidays! I have a feeling we will be back.

Yelp
My husband and I came here for our anniversary. We did the happy hour menu, everything was great, the food, the ambiance, the staff. Our server, Lalita, great, friendly, very attentive. We will definitely be back. I believe the manager, Neil, asked us how we enjoyed ourselves, we had nothing but positive feedback for him. Thank you, Topaz Cafe'

Yelp
Had date night at Topaz and EVERYTHING was EXCEPTIONAL!!! We had shrimp and Grits (phenomenal with just the right amount of heat) the Caesar Salad (quality/really good) and Eggplant Gateau (could win awards). I took home a piece of Carrot Cake for the next day. The food was OUTSTANDING!!! We sat at the bar to start off with a drink and it was so lovely we wound up staying at the bar to eat. The bartender/server was pleasant, helpful and efficient. We will be back. Thank you, TOPAZ!

Amelia R.

Yelp
Great service! WAY overpriced for the overall experience. Roasted herb potatoes were a delicious standout. Bread and appetizer courses were very good. The rest of the food was a huge disappointment. Overcooked 2 of 6 meals. Mac & Cheese was grainy and cold, mashed potatoes had a nice flavor, but lumpy. Ordered the Prime NY Strip med rare, came medium-med well, dry and mealy, should've sent it back but didn't want to be dramatic. Companion's salmon was overcooked and dry, the staff re-cooked the dish, but of course everyone else was eating while one person waited. Salads were 'meh' nothing special. Desserts were good, but not great.

Jeffrey F.

Yelp
Nice place. Comfortable atmosphere with good food. I've always had a knowledgeable wait staff. This is fine dining.
google avatar

Yelp
The arugula salad was out of this world amazing. It was so good I went to eat there a second time and brought my mom so she could have it. The second time I went I had the buffalo chicken sandwich. It was huge and very tender with excellent crispy sweet potato fries. I do agree the service was a bit slow , not the end of the world. I wish the menu was bigger as I would like to try more things given the salad and sandwich I had were great.

Madison T.

Yelp
Lunch meeting with 5 co-workers. 1st time at Topaz. Amazing food, fast service, warm atmosphere, smooth as silk experience. Btw someone mentioned few vegetarian choices. Maybe a new addition, but had a cauliflower appetizer, roasted with crisp coating and 2 amazing sauces. Generous portion, shared it! And salmon was fantastic too. Sooo good!

Cyndi S.

Yelp
I just hosted a catered event at Topaz for 80 people that was spectacular. The events manager Becky Fleck was incredibly helpful. She and the owner Branko gave personal attention to each detail, accommodated our requests, and had very helpful suggestions that made the night spectacular. Great food, great service, great ambiance. Still getting compliments from my guests. The food for 80 was as amazing and well prepared as dinner for 2.

Felicia C.

Yelp
Another great restaurant with nice Ambiance and good food. I'm glad they have the outdoor patio.
google avatar

Temenah C.

Yelp
This is a nice place for a nice dinner. They also had a private dining room if you want a more intimate experience. One thing that threw me at this place was that they didn't leave a bread basket at the table. They gave us each two pieces of bread and some butter, but that was it. I mean, I guess it's helpful so you don't binge on bread and butter, but I've never seen anything like this before. I've never had bread rationed to me. I ordered the shrimp risotto and it was very good. If you're a mushroom fan just know there are tons of mushrooms in here. I'm not a mushroom fan so I had to do a lot of digging to get them out. I also ordered a side salad and I liked that they didn't douse it in ranch dressing. It had just enough to adequately cover the salad. The service was excellent. Anyway. It's a nice place for a nice dinner or lunch.

Yelp
Met colleagues here for dinner while on a business trip. Great find! Sat outdoors in their covered courtyard on a beautiful evening with excellent food and a solo guitarist entertaining us. For apps we had grilled octopus, tuna crudo, and burrata. All three were outstanding! Ingredients were fresh and prepared with great accompaniments. Keeping with our seafood theme we ordered the halibut special, bronzino, and shrimp risotto. All of the seafood was fresh, simply but expertly prepared, and perfectly seasoned. Every plate was clean! The Buffalo Trace Old Fashioned was one of the best I've had (I had a few to make sure). When we return to Burr Ridge Topaz will definitely be one of our dinner choices!
google avatar

Tiana S.

Yelp
The service is always top notch here and I've never had a bad meal. The menu is always changing and using fresh, local ingredients. I recommend the octopus appetizer, crispy feta appetizer, and the charcuterie appetizer. As for meal- I usually get the special fish of the day.
google avatar

Anthony C.

Yelp
Topaz touts phenomenal and personable service while serving perfectly elevated and executed dishes. Great specials are typically available daily from entrees to desserts. This should be a place kept in mind for a "smart casual" night out. Would be great for entertaining family and/or friends for a slightly elevated dining experience that is cost approachable.
google avatar

Karolina J.

Yelp
The patio is absolutely amazing but I'm not a fan of their menu. None of the food really stood out to me. Ill be back here maybe for some drinks and an app but I'll skip the dinner portion.

Steve R.

Yelp
Very special night. Celebrating a anniversary and a birthday was looking for some place new. Everyone was incredible. Cocktail menu, apps, entrees and deserts. Wonderful waitress Smi was delightful and hardworking! I will recommend and be back soon

Yelp
Price is to high for what you get but the service was good, food tasty. Ambient is decent

Greg J.

Yelp
Outstanding food. Steak Fritz was out of this world. Highly recommend. Great food and service.

Yelp
Great drink menu, upscale setting but still a casual feel. Disappointed there were no specials on a Friday night, but will return,

Yelp
Food was okay but service was terrible. Alex was our server and was extremely snobby. But I must say it is a beautiful place.

Yelp
The ambience on the outdoor patio is beautiful and very comfortable. The waitress we had was extremely attentive, sweet and nice. I can't remember her name but she was Slavic or Serbian. That's where the positives end though. My friend and I had been looking forward to having a couple of drinks and dinner. I'm not sure if the bartender was inexperienced or just a bad bartender. The mixed drinks were horrible. We ordered the Midnight in Paris that did not taste like the description on the menu. It was very bitter and sour. The waitress was kind enough to replace the drinks since we explained they weren't good. We ordered the margaritas next thinking that's a drink that the bartender couldn't screw up. Wrong! It was worse than the 1st drink. It did not taste like a margarita at all. We were disappointed and decided to drink only water. The waitress was so sweet we didn't feel comfortable telling her the 2nd drink was worse than the 1st drink. As far as the food goes it's just average. My meal, the braised short ribs was good. I've had better at other neighboring restaurants. My friend had the whitefish that she said was very bland and not that good. She was disappointed. Finally, the bus boy we had with the glasses on was NOT very friendly. He seemed put out when we asked him for spoons for our dessert. His overall body language the entire evening was off putting. This was my 1st time here. My friend had been here once before. I'd be willing to come back to give them one more shot. Maybe it was just an off night. Hopefully, the next time I come here, there's a different bartender working.

Yelp
Still 4 star worthy, and definitely a great place in this busy shopping area for lunch or dinner! Stopped in for a late lunch after shopping and was very warmly welcomed in. I had a few of my favorites like the diver scallops and the brick Amish chicken. Both were great per usual. I also love the beet salad here, just delicious. We also had a surprise meeting Chef Michael who happened to be making pierogi with farmers cheese and sauerkraut and sausage served with a grainy mustard. I could have had a whole plate. It was excellent! Like a taste of the old country and better than my mom would make (sorry mommy). I do stop here more often than I write but this was long overdue and a pleasant surprise. I encourage you to stop in and you'll really enjoy it as it has something for everyone. Say hi to Chef Michael and enjoy! Don't forgot to check out the gorgeous patio, it's enchanting in spring and summer.

Yelp
We've definitely been missing eating out at one of our favorite local restaurants, and we are so thankful that Topaz is now open for carry-out service! We ordered a great dinner last night to eat on our own patio at home al-fresco and enjoyed every bite. I'm a bit dietary restricted myself, but enjoyed the Amish Chicken for my entree, while my husband enjoyed his Steak Frites. We also ordered the Speck and Burrata. Delicious! Thank you!
google avatar

Greg C.

Yelp
Literally just walked out of this place. I'm on a restricted diet and they now won't sub out anything on their menus. They literally just lost a customer who is there frequently with clients for work over something so ridiculous. Point is if you want to swap or sub anything out be prepared to be nickeled and dimed. Very poor customer service with accommodating people with restrictive diets. Stay away for the restricted people!

Alice A.

Yelp
Both service and food were top notch. Very clean and open. Love in summer months for outdoor seating yet not to miss during indoor dining season. Lovely wine list and moderately priced.
