Topside is such a fun rooftop bar in Newport. I missed the sunset when I went last weekend but the view from up there is still beautiful. They have a DJ playing mellow tunes, low-key and relaxing, though requests are not allowed and the volume stays moderate. The crowd is a nice mix of old and young, giving it a lively yet chill vibe. We were seated right under the heat lamp so it was surprisingly warm and cozy. The Photo Booth added an extra element of fun to the night. Drinks and snacks were great too, perfect for a casual evening with friends. Definitely recommend checking it out.

Fun rooftop bar with a very good drink menu. It can get a bit sunny and they could use some more umbrellas up there. Food was very good, but the menu is super limited if you’re trying to find an entrée. The guac was tasty and nicely presented. The tuna was not all that tasty – not sure exactly why it was neither clean cut like sushi nor minced like a typical appetizer. Seating was comfortable, so I give them kudos for that. Didn’t detect any music, but that could’ve been because there was a large group of very loud drunk folks next to us.

Loved the atmosphere! We arrived a bit early for our reservation and they had an open spot with enough room, so they seated us right away! Had fun music and was a lively crowd there! Loved my cocktail! I got the boardwalk. Variety of seating options: couches, chairs, tables with chairs, standing room. Seating near heaters.

We randomly dropped in for drinks and a sunset view. We had no idea how busy it would be. The location does not let you down. It comes at a price - two rounds of four drinks was +$150. If you want a place to sit and chill, make sure to get a reservation.

Surely one of the best locations in Newport! Staff were really friendly and attentive and drinks were delicious. Such a great spot to watch the sun set and people watch all the NB locals! Worth booking as it gets busy.

Our absolute favorite rooftop bar in the Newport Beach area is Topside. It is the only rooftop bar which houses real lighthouse. It provides stunning views of the harbor along with refreshing drinks and small bites. Perfect for unwinding after long day of work or getting cozy with your partner. Ambience is inviting, always great vibes. Perfect for first stop before a dinner! Reservations are highly recommended and it's part of Lido Hotel so parking is very easy!

Absolutely gorgeous view. We spent an evening here and it was a great experience. The food was great, very tasty. We watched the sunset from the deck, and it was absolutely beautiful. Great spot to have a date as well. Great service, highly recommended.

Went around sunset time on Saturday for drinks with some friends. Atmosphere and vibes were really good. Service was great, especially Darren who had really good energy and helped us whenever was needed! We will definitely be back.

Nice rooftop bar at the Lido House. I did not spend a lot of time here because I got here late, but plenty of seating and they had some nice fire pit seating. Drinks were spot on too.

The views on a beautiful Saturday afternoon are amazing here. Especially during sunset, must visit at this time. We made reservations but it seemed like a first come first serve type spot. Either way, the host found us a decent 4-seater lounge spot. Like I said, the views here are amazing during sunset (per my photos). We came for drinks and apps. I googled the "best espresso martini in OC" and this spot came up, amongst others. After a bit of homework, this was the spot to try it and boy, they did not let me down. Legit, one of the best espresso martinis I've had. They are a bit in the pricey side but so worth it. We also tried the James fries and the crudo app. Best fries EVER! The waitress let us know they have a 2-day prep process. Amazing. They were super busy but service was decent all around.

i have to say, i'm kinda disappointed with my recent experience at topside. i used to come a lot with my girlfriends early during the covid days. for some reason, i remember having such great memories here. the food was never great but the service was always pretty good, drinks were great, and the vibes were always so fun. i came recently for the first time in maybe 4 years and it was pretty subpar. it gets SO crowded at night. it's like no one monitors the crowd of people coming in. it's so crowded that i'm uncomfortable. bathroom lines are incredibly long and it's not clean in there. it's impossible to get any servers attention. i literally had to flag someone down after being seated for my reservation because we weren't even offered water or greated by anyone..? it's just too many people and not enough employees.

My brother had his wedding at the Lido Hotel a few years ago and our family loves this area! I took a couple of out of state friends here for their first "OC" experience before exploring the peninsula. They really loved the vibes and got all their California sunset pics here lol! Definitely a great place for a chill drink before dinner and a gorgeous view! We got some oysters and to share and a couple rounds of drinks and really enjoyed our time here! Also the service was super quick, our server was upbeat and knowledgeable!

Came here after spending the day by the pool and I was so delighted by our experience. Just wanted to get a quick drink and I have this obsession with olives that the bartender happily obliged. The margarita was delicious and the perfect way to end the night with great views.

Topside is an awesome place to stop in for a rooftop drink or snap! The atmosphere is always great, good music and great views of the Newport Coast + ocean! The service is always top notch, I definitely recommend!

This rooftop has become one of my favorites in Newport Beach. It has a low-key vibe with a nice crowd, not overcrowded, and the bar wasn't too busy. Drinks were great, prices were good, and there was plenty of seating. We were very happy with the experience. I love that it's one of the few rooftop spots in Newport Beach, and I'll definitely be back.

Topside is located at the Lido House Hotel. Valet parking is $16 with no validation. It's a great spot for cocktails with a view, especially at sunset when the atmosphere is at its best. I'd recommend going after 5-6pm...earlier in the day the sun can be brutal, and it's not the most comfortable experience. ATTENTION PEOPLE WHO CARE ABOUT THEIR SKIN: there's not a lot of shade offered, so plan accordingly. Bring a hat, lather on the sunscreen, etc. I chatted with a girl who was there on a first date and she was not happy that her face had literally melted off in the short hour she'd been there That said, the drinks are solid and the setting is beautiful.

Came here on evening Sunday to watch the sunset and have some drinks. I ordered the Ube cannolis, but they look more like taquitos. My friend got a drink and she really enjoyed it. Can you order from the bar and they bring you your items to you The rooftop deck has some immaculate views. It's first come first serve seating on a lot of things. Always cool vibes when it's near the beach, especially on a rooftop! It's a very coastal and chic place, located on top of the Lido hotel. We came here during July 4th and good thing we made reservations in advance for a seat. Others were standing around with long lines at the bar. Menu was small and drinks were just ok, but it was cool lounging and chatting until sunset when fireworks started to go off. Good thing we ate prior to coming here because it's not a place to dinner. It's valet only, pretty convenient that day since we didn't need to drive around to find busy street parking. Overall cool place to check out if you enjoy drinks and fresh air near the beach.

Came here one evening for a glass of wine. The ambience was great, with fire pits and booths to choose. The bartenders were very kind, create a good conversation and being personable. I really enjoyed my time here, I can't wait to come back.

Drinks are always flowing and good times here are the norm. Drinks are on the expensive side but the quality and ambiance of the location set the mood right. Darren provides top notch customer service making everyone feel like a VIP. Can't beat this spot in Newps.

Great vibes, atmosphere, drinks and views! If you're looking for a spot for a big group or to hang out and grab drinks, this is a great option. Heads up - you do need to valet your car which was about $15, and drinks are around $20-25/each. Prices can definitely add up but you are paying for the atmosphere, views and location.

I was verbally assaulted by a busser at the Topside Roofdeck. I was standing talking to my friends when the busser yelled at the top of his lungs "MOVE!" right in my ear. It was very immature, jarring and embarrassing. The place was pretty crowded and loud, so there's a possibility he asked me to move but I did not hear it, but I don't think screaming at a patron like you're their drill sergeant was the right thing to do. I can honestly say I have never been screamed at like that in my entire life. I should have said something to the manager in the moment, but I was fighting the urge to cry so I ended up just leaving immediately. I understand everyone has their own battles going on, but when you come to work you need to be professional.

Darren was an amazing security!! Made me and my friends feel safe and we never had to ask for anything. He was very attentive and let us have the best night!

One of my favorite places to get drinks either during the day or for sunset! The views are amazing and you can see a lot of new port and the ocean! The food is great, they are always changing the menu and have lots of options. The burrata with fresh water melon and cantaloupe is my absolute favorite!! They have a large cocktail list. Typically I get a glass of of wine or if in a group they sell the bottle For a good price and bring it in a bucket to keep cool of white or sparking. The wait staff is so friendly and helpful! It is my go to for a great sunset happy hour. I bring anyone who is visiting here.

I would love to add an update to this review. My girl friends and I visited in early July 2025 and had the worst experience ever. We waited over 20 minutes to be seated at our table when we made a reservation weeks ahead. Once seated, the server took another 25 min to come over and say hi and did not even take our order. We had to order with the wait staff. 3 out of 6 our drinks were made incorrectly and needed to be sent back which took another 30 min. We asked for the check and they already pre included 18% tip which we were not too happy about. We inquired as to why the service was so slow and the waitress said "we are just busy tonight" I won't be going back anytime soon sadly.

Lowkey disappointed. We made reservations but when we got there they were like searching for somewhere to sit us all over. No idea we had reservations. Beautiful view but service was blah. Genuinely tried ordering appetizers but the waitress walked away and came back with napkins n left..... we said excuse me a good amount of times n literally nothing. Had one drink n just dipped. Underwhelming

Totally a vibe! My mom and I made reservations around sunset and the scenery was exactly what we were looking for. It definitely had a bit of a club feel, as there was a dj. However, the dj was playing some great hits, it was just a little loud, if you are looking for intimate conversations this might not be the place. We were seated right away with our reservations and our server was great about checking in with us but not hovering. I got a Lady Guava and it was sooooo good. Sort of a mix between a guava margarita/mojito. So delicious I stuck with the Lady Guava for the evening. The drink prices are in line with the views and the vibes. Definitely a nice place to stop for some good views and vibes.

Gorgeous rooftop bar by the sea. I came by with about 10 girlfriends after brunch elsewhere on the peninsula and it was a great sunset drink spot! We probably arrived around 4pm and while there was a reservation for a cabana at 5p, another group had just moved along so we were able to land there until the 5pm reservation showed. The vibe is coastal chic with cabanas and umbrellas for shade, beautiful couches, ottomans, fire pits & heaters (which we needed as the sunset) and standing room if you can't land anywhere in particular too. We had a server until we needed to move for the next party then the bar was accommodating. I do wish they had 2 bars because it can get very crowded and unruly with just a single bar for a popular spot but if you're there to meet others, this could be the best way you mingle (in line). They make a great spicy margarita and have a lovely wine list. When we needed to find another space for our group, we walked to a rotunda like building that had more great couches, decor and ambiance... still no bar but I do believe this area may have had a server so that's a plus! All in all, definitely the best rooftop in Newport! You can't exactly see the water but you can see lots of beauty and it just feels right up there! Go try it!

Was hoping for a chill evening to enjoy a drink and dinner with a friend for her birthday and instead it was really loud and a lot of the menu was unavailable along with ingredients for cocktails. I can put the blame on myself for not seeing if there were other events planned for that evening (went in October) but not having half the menu on a Friday doesn't seem like a great idea. Our service was okay, the waitress checked in every 10-15 minutes but then disappeared and it was impossible to flag another waitress down. Could be willing to give this place another try but for far I drove unlikely.

Nice and cozy rooftop lounge with plenty of seating and beautiful view of the Newport sunset. Had interesting cocktails and appetizers to munch on. As expected the rooftop location made it a bit chilly especially in the evening hours which is what we expect living in CA. The drinks and grubs were not bad. Had the lady guava with vodka which was decent along with the organic hummus/chips, octopus tostado, and yellowtail ceviche. All pretty good but again wasn't looking for a Michelin star meal. Of the three the organic hummus was the best which I recommend if you're looking for a small snack with your drink. Overall, nice quiet place to meet up with a friend or colleague to grab a quick weekday drink.

If you are ever in the Newport area & want some casual drinks w your friends you HAVE to go to Topside Roof Deck right on top of Lido House ! This is one of my OC staples for a lil cocktail :-) The views are sooo so beautiful & you'll get lucky if you find a seat after 9pm. We usually wait for someone to leave & take their spot. You can make reservations here but I always tend to come as a last minute thing if my friends and I aren't trying to go clubbing & wanna do something more calm xD

Food was good and kept us busy while sipping our delicious drinks. We stopped in for a quick drink to kill time before meeting a friend and we almost ended up staying. Sunset was on point, the wind was warm and not too disruptive and our server was great. It was an upscale but comfortable vibe that allows the flexibility of hosting a group or an intimate experience! We will be back. Thank you for the hospitality!

Topside is such a vibe! The rooftop is super cute and definitely gives you those classic Newport feels. It's on the pricier side, but honestly worth it for the atmosphere. Their happy hour is great, and it's one of my favorite spots to people watch while sipping a drink. Perfect for a fun night out or a little splurge.

drinks and food here are super yummy but def on the more pricey end! service was okay as it kind of felt like we had to hunt a server down or wait 15 minutes to order. other than that, great place to go with friends or a big group.

did my bday here since i have a summer bday and the ambiance of this place in the summer is spectacular!!! i will say drinks are mid for how much they cost, but it's the price you pay for the great views. Food was also nothing outstanding, esp for the price, but tbh id def be back because the vibes are too great!!

Cute, chill place to have a good drink - very good vibes! Very clean and nice, loved the amount of heaters since it gets pretty breezy! I had the "under the sea" drink and it was seriously so good!! I could have had 10 of them.. Our server was so sweet and attentive! Would totally go again!

OK, so I will be completely honest about this place. The view is obviously beautiful as there's nothing that can really be a rooftop. I can look onto the water or most of Orange County. That is something that usually can't be beat and it's kind of a given for the most part. Now, if I'm reading the drinks, to be honest, the drink menu is OK, . When I'm looking for a drink normally I am looking for somebody to add their creative spend of things and not always just add a bunch of sugar and it kinda did feel like their drinks didn't have much substance. I get it this place really pops off at night and you can always just order a basic drink that everybody typically gonna get like a GNT a jack and Coke or things like that. But for a place like this, I would think that they would have a better design on their drinks given that the atmosphere is such a good place and if their drinks were top-notch, then it would be a place where I would really be dying to come back to you because I know that I'll get both. I have not tried the food here so I'm not gonna say that the food isn't good, we didn't really have the time that day to get food.' cause we had already eaten we just really thought it looked cute so we gave it a shot. Overall, the service was very good. Our server was very sweet. I wish I remember her name, but I can definitely say that the service was nice the day we went. So on a scale of one out of five I would give this place 3 1/2, I don't have the heart to give it three stars because I know that it is worth more than that and I want to give it five and so I'm hoping that we give it another shot soon and I get to try a couple other things to give it a higher rating

Only rooftop bar in Newport. They revamped their menu earlier this year and the cocktails are actually excellent. Service has gotten a lot better. Great for a girls day. Gets busy on weekends

The drinks 10 /10 the ambience 10 /10, but what really sort out was our experience and the customer service that came with it. Immediately after we finished our first drink, a server, Anthony, came by and asked us if we would like another in perfect timing. Throughout the night we got the same treatment, and we appreciated how kind and efficient the service was. Definitely recommend for a girls night out or a pregame for a party!

Niels is hands down one of the best I've worked with. From the start, he was professional, honest, and genuinely cared about getting things done the right way, not just rushing the job. Communication was clear the entire time, expectations were set upfront, and everything was handled smoothly.

Ambiance was great! Lots of tables available. Plenty of heaters. Doormen were awesome. Bartender (Guy) was so personable. Just finished a birthday dinner nearby and came to topside for a nightcap. Friday night wasn't overly crowded and energy was chill. They had some nice tunes playing as well. Would definitely come back to try food & more cocktails. 3.75 Stars

The only decent Roof Top bar in OC! I wish they had DJ too.I think if they add a DJ the vibe will be great and they can make so much money. Perfect location, cute design. Parking might be challenging, depends on time and day. Best time would be during sunset! When they are busy to expect to get good service, you better walk to bar and order yourself. I got Espresso Martini and I loved it.

Good for a quick nosh with a sweet sea breeze. Beware your seat position: it gets toasty within moments of sitting but the servers totally get it and are happy to move you when something opens up. Just speak up and be gracious. The music is just the right volume so you can chat with friends or canoodle in serenity. Not too bro-ey in the afternoon. Note: too.

Trendy spot in Lido to grab a drink and connect with friends. I've been here a few times and the drinks are always creative and good. Service has been decent during my visits, and on this latest visit I appreciated that the server didn't mention the 90-minute time limit.

An amazing rooftop bar located inside Lido House luxury hotel that overlooks Newport. My friends and I came to check it out and we're seated right away. The service is friendly and accommodating and just good vibes all around! We ordered drinks and fries to snack on, but next time I want to try their food! The drinks are tasty and carefully crafted, plus it doesn't hurt to have the view of Newport in front of you. It's a great place to kick back, converse with friends, listen to music and enjoy the boujee ambience.

Went here with reservations made day of on Saturday. Try to park at the outside parking lots, if you drive into the hotel's area you'll have to valet for $14. The rooftop bar is on the top of a hotel area. It's really not that high up, 5 floors up. The area is very cute, not crowded at all. Cool lamp decors that are also heat lamps. Thought it would be cold but there were scattered lamps and fire pits. Very small selection of food. Mostly appetizers. Also a small selection of specialty cocktails. Good place to chat because the music wasn't very loud. Everyone was there in their own group, not a lot of space to really mingle. Overall nice rooftop to chat and get drinks!

Topside roof deck is a hidden gem that's located in NB ! It's inside a hotel on the roof so it's super secluded private and gives off romantic vibes which is nice as well . The seating there is self service for the most part but I highly recommend you reserve a seat that way you can get good seats with good views of the city ! The service is top notch the workers there are super friendly and helpful especially considering that it was my first time there. The food I never got any food since I went there for the drinks . But the drinks were definitely on point and did not disappoint ! I highly recommend if your in the area to check them out!

seems like everyone from Newport goes here. super crowded during sunset on weekend nights - long queue for drinks/seating. it's good, since there are limited options in the area -- but I don't think I'd come here actually if not for the area. can find better options for food/drinks in Costa Mesa or elsewhere. unique since it's one of the few rooftops in the area. Good for groups

After Van D and I had dinner downstairs at the Lido Hotel, we decided to grab a drink upstairs at TRD. I have been here before, but didn't take pictures. The space is very nice and spacious. Unfortunately it was cold on a early Spring evening, and there weren't any fire pita available. We opted for a two seat table w/ an overhead heater. We barely felt the heat. They do have a good selection of tequila and I had some Clase Azul tequila. You can get small plates up here also, but we were already full. Our waitress was friendly & efficient. I would definitely return when the weather becomes warmer. TRD has great ambiance, good service, and a nice selection of liquor to raise your rooftop bar game.

Topside Roof Deck is located on the top level of the Lido House Hotel by Marriott Bonvoy. After a birthday dinner at the restaurant downstairs with my Yelp Bro Joe P., we came up here for an afta partyyyy. This might be a nice enjoyable spot during the day time with their patio setting and umbrellas, but at night it was too cold for my liking. We were seated underneath these "heaters" but I'm not sure they were working. I even asked staff if they were on because I did not feel any heat. I was FREEZING! For both rounds Joe P. had the Clase Azul reposado with a lime. I started out with their Honey I Drunk the Figs! ($20) and then got a Butter Me Up ($20). The Honey I Drunk the Figs was a gin cocktail with yellow chartreuse, amaro nonio, fig, honey, lemon, ginger and egg white. The Butter Me Up is their house interpretation of a hot buttered rum. I have the same comment for both drinks. Good flavor profile but TOO SWEET. Goodness my sugar levels probably spiked drinking these. I couldn't even finish the second drink, and I'm not the type to leave any drinks behind. Joe P. was already talking about taking his lady friends back here... It must be cause these heat lamps are so unfunctional he can have an excuse to cozy up with them when they're freezing. Given that I don't like their drinks, I don't plan to come back. If by some happenstance I find myself here again, I'll order a shot or something they can't mess up.

Wow oh... wow. I do not even know where to begin with Topside. I am from New York and this ALWAYS my first stop off of the plane. From the step into the hotel lobby, I SMELL that palo santo pumping through the vents... then usually I stop in the gift shop and look around, and then... I get straight on the elevator and go up to the rooftop. That's where the magic happens. I swear these people treat you like fam(ILY). I have been here SO many times that they know me by name, they know my order, and they know how to party. I am typically pretty indecisive when it comes to ordering drinks, and the bartender Brent, truly knows how to cater to the indecisive crowd! Whenever I show up and mention that I don't know what to get, he always surprises me and never fails to impress! It is truly remarkable and unbelievable. The same girl waits on me anytime I'm there, I believe her name was Christina? Truly she is magical. Her smile is contagious, and her customer service skills are unmatched. Thank you Lido House and Topside for making my time in Newport unforgettable! oh and the fries are good too.
