Free Barbecue at Coaster Saloon | Eater San Diego

"Perched on the hotel's patio deck at Hotel Republic, I noted that Topside Terrace Kitchen & Bar has launched a new weekend brunch from executive chef JC Colón (Urban Kitchen Group, Blue Bridge Hospitality) featuring Jidori chicken chilaquiles with salsa verde, pico de gallo, cilantro avocado crema, queso, and poached eggs; a porchetta “medianoche” sandwich on challah with cotto, swiss, sweet pickle, sunny side egg, red onion, and mustard; and chicharrones and guacamole with sea urchin. Mimosas are offered lavender-, cucumber honey-, or rose-flavored at $11 each or bottomless for $18, with a pre-brunch free yoga session every Saturday starting at 8:30 a.m. and live acoustic music on Sundays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m." - Candice Woo

Great experience! Went with some friends and we enjoyed all our food and drinks. Rained a bit but the staff was quick to put up umbrellas and heaters. The manager too even surprised me with a birthday dessert. Not only was the service excellent, the food was great. Would definitely recommend!

I can’t say enough great things about Topside! I love the location! I love the views! I love the seating area, the food, the drinks, the servers, the happy hours specials! I can go on and on. Our server/bartender, was amazing! I feel so bad I forgot her name. But she made me one of the Only Fans martinis and it was SO GOOD! She was super nice! My husband had a beer on tap. We shared an order of the fish tacos. They were really good! I would love to hangout here everyday, if I could. Very cool place, great music, heaters for the cold, comfy seats. All around great place to be.

Great vibes and decor, and a breakfast burger that makes you want to come back for more! Chilaquiles were a flop but the restaurant manager took care of me right away, and was very kind. The orange you glad zero proof drink needs the ratio tweaked between the syrup and the bubbly water. Too much syrup made for a diabolically sweet drink. Overall, the wait staff, atmosphere and the burger will have me coming back, I recommend!

Had the Wakame Poke Bowl and mixed berry salad. Food was delicious very fresh tasting, large portions. Service was great. Sat outside there was a band, volume of music was perfect, still able to have a conversation while enjoying the music. Loved this place would definitely return!

Service looked a little slow at first but then they were very tentative. The nachos were surprisingly pretty good but the ceviche came with the same chips so it became a little too much of the same chips. The crudo tuna had a weird taste and flavored we ended up not finishing it. Definitely a nice vibe rooftop bar restaurant

The worst breakfast place. Food was burnt and also when you ask for over easy eggs they bring fried eggs. Medium rare steak is fully cooked thru. One of my coworker bread was literally black. And idk how they could even serve it seeing it? And then at the end we get hit with “oh we don’t take cash btw”. Don’t yall suppose to warn ppl before understanding that someone places like tattoo shops work with cash only? LOL. but no she told us at the end. And just walked away. And they included tip 40$ but questions is for what? What y’all servers did ? The worst job ever they did. Literally full of disappointment. If yall take only cards then warn ppl when they make reservations or when they walk in so they at least have time to run to atm.

Met some friends here for dinner. A really nice space in the building terrace. Comfortable seating and heaters for those cooler days. I ordered their plant based burger and it was good. I really liked the fries. My wife got the shrimp tacos and she liked those as well. The salmon came topped with pesto of pesto and was prepared very well. My wife got a piece of the mastic in her drink. Looked like a lid of some kind. They comped the drink but they should have done more. The biggest issue was it took a long time to get our food and the place was pretty empty. I think the kitchen probably does room service for the hotel. It’s the only reason I can think of why it took so long. We were in our way to catch a flight and made it quite tight time wise. Not sure I would go back.

Food was good other than one end of my hanger steak was super tough. It was cooked correctly from what I could tell but it was very hard to cut and tough to eat. I left that side alone. Other than that, the rest of the food was good. The tepanade was exceptional, needed more bread to accompany it. The service was super slow. The waiter was a little slow to take our order, but getting anything from drinks to food took ages. I would guesstimate over 10 minutes for our drinks and over 30 minutes before our appetizers came out. Shortly after that, our entrées came out. It wasn't busy and looked like they had enough staff. Ambiance was decent. A small rooftop on a downtown hotel a few stories up.
