Great restaurant and experience! Our server Max was excellent and the food was outstanding. We sat out on the patio and it was comfortable even on a February evening. Recommendation getting the wine pairing with dinner as it’s reasonably priced and you get decent pours with your courses. The trout dip stater was exceptional. Recommend reservations and we will be back for brunch and blues - check out their events page!

I haven’t even left the restaurant yet as I’m writing this review. My stomach literally cannot intake anymore. Farm to Table—more like farm straight to my mouth. This dining experience was absolutely fantastic from start to finish. The way these dishes elevate texture, taste and presentation is a true testament to their mission in working with local farmers. Nestled in Traveler’s Rest, Topsoil is a hidden gem. Vibes are immaculate—dim lit (small lamps on each table), comfortable seating, great music and perfect noise level to have a conversation with your people but not hearing the people next to you. Our waitress Prentiss was amazing, she is very knowledgeable on the dishes, and gave great recommendations. We WILL be back here throughout each season as it’s a seasonal menu.

Did the Chefs tasting Menu (the culinary trust fall) Absolutely delicious. Everything that came out could not have been better. The dishes were not only great but the flavors were so inspired. The service was also top notch. Incredible experience. Will definitely be back.

This was a much-anticipated evening out as my husband, who is currently serving overseas, is stateside for a short time. Unfortunately, there were too many misses and near-misses to ignore for a restaurant that is supposed to be top-tier. Our server, Hannah, was not very welcoming or engaging throughout our...three-hour...meal. The entire table ended up getting the three-course-menu. It took 45 minutes just to get the hummus...which should probably be listed under small plates, because there's definitely not enough to share for a table. The flavor was delicious, but it didn't make up for the wait. My sister and I both got the salad...and both had the delightful experience of chewing on pistachio shell. Its like eating egg shells, no need to explain thar further. Salad was also extremely soggy. I informed our server of this and got an "oh" in response. My husband got the pork belly, nothing necessary wrong with it, but we've had much better for much cheaper. My brother's soup was super flavorful but barely warm. My escargot dish was my favorite of the night. The tomatoes were fresh, bright and beautiful. The escargot was was tender and the crispy, soaked bread was perfect. My sister got the brussel sprouts with mushrooms and eggplant. She couldn't even eat half of it, she was not expecting bonito flakes on the top, and this was an immediate turn off. The sprouts were under-cooked and over-sauced (so salty), the eggplant was slimy and flavorless, were there even mushrooms? For the main, I got the pappardelle pasta with rabbit. The pasta was over-cooked, and I got one singular piece of protein. My husband did enjoy his duck leg confit, and I can confirm that the duck was cooked perfectly. My sister's fish dish was equally delightful, the skin was crispy and the flavors were warming and perfectly accompanied the protein. My brother also enjoyed his beef bavette. I did get dessert but the rest of the table did. The boys got the olive oil cake which was topped with poached mexican squash that tasted delightfully of clove, no notes! My sister got dessert soup..oh, wait, creme brulee. Unfortunately, what could have been very delightful was not executed properly. The oversight was also not really adressed. She switched this out for the hazelnut chocolate cake, which was a woefully small portion and not veey rich for a chocolate cake. The theme of the night ended up being "could have been incredible if executed well" combined with "I feel like I've been robbed of my time and money."

One of the best restaurants in Upstate, SC. Super fresh and local foods. Excellent choice and worth the drive even if you don't live in Travelers Rest. Have been here for restaurant week the past 2 years! Great value.

This restaurant had been on my list for quite some time, and it fully lived up to the hype. The service and food were outstanding, and the wine pairings were expertly selected. The menu was centered around fresh and locally sourced produce and was not only creative but seasonal. The three course pairing menu offered many different selections from vegetables to different meats.

Went to topsoil with my mother yesterday to have a cocktail and listen to jazz. I hope the owner will see this review. The sign out front said half price Wine. And when we went to the hostess stand the young ladies proceeded to tell me that it was half of anything with the*. So when I got my bill, I asked for my discount. The female manager came up to me and told me he was only on bottles. I told her very kindly the sign out front said it was half off wine and that the hostess is also confirm that. She repeated its half off bottles and was not very friendly at all. I paid and then when I went outside, I took a picture of the sign and went back in and talk to her about it. The sign did not say bottles. She still was rude and said she would give me my six dollars back. I told her I did not want my six dollars and asked Her what the sign said, and then she admitted it did not say bottles. I told her it’s the principal and it’s about Customer Service and being kind. Sadly to say she was rude in front of the customers and the Staff to me. And ruin the evening for my mother and I. I want to say everyone else that worked there was very nice. I have been in customer service my whole life and this was very disappointing.

My review is based on eating brunch here on a Saturday. The staff immediately seemed so welcoming and cheerful. The menu was explained and my server was aware of my raw tomato allergy since I’d made a reservation with Resy. The space was nice but felt casual and comfortable. I decided to get the breakfast sandwich with a veggie patty. I do eat meat but for some reason, the veggie option just sounded really good. I liked that the English muffins are made in house along with as many of the components as possible and using local ingredients. The veggie patty was mildly spicy and had a very flavorful Indian spice profile. The breakfast potatoes were excellent as well. I did need to ask for my tea to be refilled. That was my only “complaint” about the experience. I will definitely be coming again for brunch sometime soon. It is on the pricey side but I thought the quality and the fresh local ingredients justified that price. They aren’t just reheating frozen and delivered items. They are actually preparing interesting menu items and supporting local farms as well. The portion size was also filling, you can see from my photo that they actually give a decent amount of potatoes. While the menu was small, I think it offered a nice variety of sweet and savory, lighter meals and more hearty options. I got a cinnamon roll to go and it was also excellent. I like when the server is familiar with the food on the menu and can give recommendation or answer questions. So based on my experience, I’d highly recommend Topsoil!

First time experience and enjoyed the whole thing. Staff was fantastic explaining drinks and food . We loved that they are a very true farm to table. They have a tastings type menu...pick an item from small.plates, entree and dessert($65). You can add wine pairings for $25. These were all excellent.. the mushroom and brussel sprout dish is amazing along with the beets and berries salad. The sauces that accompany the dishes are super tasty as the chef appears to have painstakingly taken time to perfect. We loved that the chef was there to see and approve each entree coming out of the kitchen....and at times--- unacceptable dishes were sent back to be fixed. The sommelier wine pairings were perfect with the dishes...admittedly I would not drink some of these on their own but the pairings were spot on. The staff is very kind and knowledgeable . Two minor points to note....if you aren't even a bit of a foodie....the menu may be "too scary.." There appears to be no simple menu regular staples . The second concern was we sat at the bar and while comfortable....the bar seats ( with backs) sit a bit low. With all that being said ...wewill totally visit again!!!

We went here for a light meal, not realizing it was "brunch". Anyway the hostess was quite rude, asked if we had reservations and we of course did not. The eye rolling, heavy sighing and exasperated expression told us we were really inconveniencing her. The food was okay, but pricey. Waygu burger which was suspect , and shrimp and grits which was light on the grits. Underwhelming. Service was off putting, rushing us, yet never topped off drinks, etc. We won't likely return. Modern ambiance, and not cozy or conducive to a leisurely meal.

Such a great farm to table restaurant! Pricey but the ingredients taste so fresh so you're paying for high quality. Love that they support local farms and agriculture. Bright, fresh flavors in every dish we tried. Really good and creative cocktails too!!! atmosphere is laid back and casual, and service staff are very helpful and knowledgeable. Their unique menu items change seasonally and are artfully curated. Great wine list too. All around great spot in TR!

Wow! I lived in Mount Pleasant, SC for 30 years, eating shrimp and grits everywhere I could but I NEVER had them as good as I did today at Topsoil! It is an unassuming location with wonderfully polite and cheerful staff. The service was quite good and the food, again, was phenomenal!! We are greatly anticipating our next visit. Thanks and keep up the good work!!

Excellent service, selection, quality, and ambiance. Avocado toast was fresh and delicious. We had the cranberry mimosa. Horsefeather, and Fennel 75. Hubs had the breakfast sandwich. The potatoes were amazing. Highly recommend!

The food was amazing. The carrot pancakes were delish! The breakfast sandwich was scrumptious. What a perfect Sunday brunch spot.

Travelers Rest is a special town at the end of the Prisma Health Swamp Rabbit Trail however the real find is Topsoil , a farm to table restaurant. The time to come is lunch or dinner but their prepared to serve even between those times. We had two satisfying charcuterie boards. The Cheese Board; three unique cheese selections, pickles, red onions, carrots, cucumbers and rustic crunchy bread with grainy mustard. The Trio of vegetable spreads; eggplant zaalouk, cumin-coriander beet hummus, cilantro poblano and rustic crunchy bread was above expectations with full flavored spreads that were savory and sweet. We washed it all down with the perfectly balanced lemonade. Theses travelers were fed and rested. A 15 min drive from Greenville and plenty of parking. Highly recommended.

Cannot say enough good things about this perfect restaurant! My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our first anniversary dinner here between the atmosphere, the wine, the DELICIOUS food, and our waitress Heather we were SOO happy! Really hoping we can stop by here again!

Best shrimp and grits we've ever had. My fiancé tried the Pear French Toast & at first I was skeptical thinking it may be too sweet or not taste right but I ended up loving the dish. Very good. The waitress was great, very attentive and knowledgeable. The restaurant itself is very modern with relaxed vibes. They also had live music while we ate. Family loved it and we'll be back again soon.

From atmosphere to service to food! Does not disappoint! Brunch date with my hubby! Our new favorite date spot. We had the Gravlox and Cornbeef hash! Wow!!!!! Dancing in my seat with enjoyment. My hash came out with over hard eggs instead of over easy. The chef himself offered to make a new order for me. And it was fabulous! Kristin our bartender/wait person extraordinaire was amazing. Oh forgot the bloody mary! Would change nothing.

Tonight my dad had a medical emergency at topsoil restaurant in travelers rest. The staff were beyond caring and helpful. The food we had up until the incident was impeccable. They did not charge us. We left in a hurry and didn't tip but we will make sure the waiter gets what they deserve. Just wanted to shout them out for their amazing food and kindness. I don't remember all the fancy ingredients but... 1st photo - halibut, buere blanc, root veg 2nd - pork dumpling with fermented miso dust and dicon on top 3rd - some sort of jack fish, chili pepper, avocado, citrus couli

This restaurant really bring a a new vibe to fresh and local eating. The ambience is a mix between your grandmas house and a very high end restaurant but in a way that works well. We started off with the cheese board, the mix of fresh vegetables and crispy bread combined with the three cheeses that were picked well and all very different was a great way to start. The three course pre fixe was great, and only having a 4-5 options per course made it easy to choose. The star of the show was the dessert. Tahini crunch cake and chèvre Panne cotta. Both dessert worked amazingly well. The service was attentive but not overly so. All in all a very good experience. Would recommend to anyone looking for a fun experience who is also a fan of local Ingredients.

We had never been to Topsoil and saw the great reviews.. it was Valentines weekend and chose the Chef experience where the chef picks your 5 course meal. We arrived and were quickly seated. The host explained the farm to table philosophy at Topsoil and that each Sunday they do the chef experience. Robert was our server and he was fantastic, very knowledgeable and attentive Our first course was a freshly prepared dip with watermelon radish, cucumber, fish and roe.. with their home made potato chips.. very good. Next was scallops seasoned and seared with a house risotto. The scallops were fresh and so tender. Third course was dark duck with another in house pasta. The duck was flavorful and the portions were right on point. The fourth course was duck breast cooked medium with potato, apple and other vegetables. The duck was beautiful and moist, very tender. The final course DESSERT was the chefs take on an Apple fritter, with candied kumquats on top... the fruit was flavorful and the pastry was light and dusted with cinnamon sugar goodness! The decor is filled with a farmhouse chic flair and the restrooms have wall sized photos of working the land. This local favorite is a great way to support local and enjoy the creativity of our home grown talent!!

Here we have an absolute gem of a restaurant. I ate at Topsoil a couple nights ago, as I do about twice a year, and I ate at the legendary Family Meal at Blue Hill (NYC farm to table restaurant by the legendary Dan Barber, one Michelin star) this evening as a comparison; there were a couple of similar dishes, which made me appreciate the merits of Topsoil enough to write a review. Chef Adam renders his ingredients into the fullness of their existence beyond all imaginations. I had the joy of eating a dish with Badger Flame beets at both places -- the world's most delicious beet, perfectly sweet, literally bred into existence from the seed company founded by Blue Hill -- and Topsoil's rendition actually managed to set them off, into the fullness of their delicious flavor and being, even better, paired with cubes of some heavenly yellow watermelon (and I don't usually like beets). And best of all at Topsoil, an amazing rendition of lamb with oyster mushroom -- each morsel like a bursting galaxy of ineffable exhilaration, each bite like an eternity wheeling among the stars of the universe as they change through the eons. I've had a few dishes as inspired, but they are few and far between even in big cities. The pairing was inspired, the ingredients set off to tremendous effect, fully at least a match for what I'd consider the epitome of comparable NYC restaurant. The people are great, the ambiance unhurried, the beams above evoking images of the timelessness of the food while the art evokes the modern reinventiondiscovery thereof, the servers knowledgable -- but the food is so good and would stand tall amid the greats of big cities; incomparable in our beloved Upstate.

We arrived at 5:02 and thought we would grab a drink at the bar before dinner at 530. The hostess was rude and told us we could leave and go elsewhere before our reservation. I asked if I needed a reservation to have a drink at the bar 3 times, she looked at me like I head three heads. Overpriced,l and very very noisy inside. Waitstaff could work on being more friendly... Who covers a $125+ ribeye with a peppercorn sauce. If the meat is good it should stand on its own especially a ribeye! I will say that the young woman that filled our water had the biggest smile and was so so polite and friendly! It was suggested when we confirmed that we sit on the porch. Keep in mind it was 95+ degrees outside. They have HUGE and beautiful ceiling fans in the porch. Do you think they were in? NOPE. So we sweat through our dinner. We won't be back.

If I could give this place 7 stars, I would. My boyfriend and I had been eyeing this place for weeks prior to our visit, and finally decided to give it a go on a quiet Sunday morning. Upon sitting down, we already had a feeling it would be one of our new favorites. We both ordered the Winter Spice iced coffee which was a simple, yet decadent iced coffee, enriched with nodes of nutmeg, cinnamon, and other homey winter favorites. The coffee itself was the definition of "just right". Next, we ordered the cinnamon bun, which we both gasped at upon first glance. The decadence of the cream cheese piling over the warm and fresh roll, was illuminating. Each bite left us speechless. Finally, for our entrees, I was between the hash + eggs vs. the steak + eggs. Our server suggested that both were incredible, but hinted at the steak + eggs which I had already had my eye on. My boyfriend chose the breakfast sandwich, which at glance seemed standard, but was far from it. My tenderloin was served coated in chimichurri, with a side of crispy fingerling potatoes. The steak itself was juicy, and cut to perfection. My boyfriend's sandwich was served extra warm with a homemade English muffin, sausage, delicious house sauce, and an over easy egg. Now to the service, our server was very knowledgeable, friendly, and present during our visit. He provided us with a tasting of a hot sauce that was not yet fermented, which did not disappoint! The rest of the staff was warm and welcoming, and we are definitely already planning for our return! I 1000% recommend this establishment if you are in the area and seeking an intimate form to table experience :)!

Amazing food, staff, and experience. Best meal I've had in a restaurant since moving to Greenville and I've been all over the city! Highly recommend.

This farm to table restaurant is owned by a local farmer who lives down the road! She works with about fifty other local farmers to create innovative dishes including: cocktails and delicious small plates (as well as entrees) with local, fresh produce and meats. The chicken liver pâté was stellar! It comes with their famous fresh baked sourdough bread, pickled onions, grainy mustard and a bacon jam that is over the top! The spring vegetable gratin was stellar, as was, the fresh pasta with lamb and vegetables. Worth a drive to the beautiful small town of Traveler's Rest! Perfect place!

The food was incredible - They also have a plethora of vegan options which is a rare find for a Greenville area restaurant!

We held a ~50 guest, 3hour, wedding rehearsal dinner at Topsoil. 1) Topsoil's pre-event coordination was excellent; menu coordination, allergy accommodation, seating, place setting, it was all just excellent 2) The food, from salad to main course to dessert, was down right fantastic; served family style, it was very well prepared, compliments all around, everyone was happy 3) Event service was exceptional, food delivery, beverage service, audio for music and speakers, everything was simply exceptional To top it all off, Topsoil packaged all leftovers for guests to take home. Top notch, exceptional food and service. Our Topsoil - Travelers Rest experience was excellent.

While showing us some houses in the area, our realtor recommended this place in Traveler's Rest. We were passing by on our way back to Greenville just as the restaurant was opening at 5 PM. We weren't ready for dinner but decided to stop in and have a drink at the bar and sample a couple of appetizers. Wow - are we glad we made this stop! The drinks were very good. We also had the ramp risotto, which was also very good. The star of the show, though, was the chicken liver pate. This was the smoothest, the creamiest, the most fantastic chicken liver mousse/pate that we've ever had! And for $12, the portion size was huge! It came with some fantastic bread, a spicy, grainy mustard, and some absolutely addictive bacon jam. One thing (among many) that stood out to us was the quantity of bread that came with the dish. So many times, when you order a spread of some sort that is intended to be eaten on bread or crackers or something like that, there is far too little bread to accommodate the amount of spread. This wasn't the case at Topsoil at all. The bread to spread ratio was perfect. And both were so good! We will most likely return to Topsoil to try a full dinner the next time that we visit Greenville. The only reason that I say "most likely" instead of "definitely" is because we will be sorely tempted to make a meal of the chicken liver pate. As good as this was, though, I'm sure we'll find much to enjoy on the main course side of the menu. Can't wait!

The food and service were superb. We indulged in The duck liver pâté, carpaccio, shrimp toast, braised short rib, market fish, tahini crunch cake, and lavender crème brûlée. Cocktails and coffee to top it off! Not possible to pick a favorite dish. Thanks to the whole team for a wonderful evening.

Kirstin was so great and helped us with any questions we had on the menu. She was also highly paitent with our toddler. We had a mimosa, bloody mary, breakfast sandwich with potatoes and avocado toast. All wonderful and a perfect way to start the day. My husband said the breakfast sandwich was the best thing he had during our visit to Greenville. Travelers Rest is just a vibe. Go check it out!

We came to topsoil for Valentine's Day, and, as expected, it was packed. Despite having a reservation, we had to wait for our table (~10 min so not too bad). I was a bit disappointed when we got seated because our waitress immediately informed us that a few of the menu items were no longer available - and they happened to be items that I had been wanting to order. I'm not a huge fan of mushrooms and mostly try to eat vegetarian, so my options were pretty limited. Nevertheless, I was able to order multiple small plates to make up my entire meal. I actually recommend this family style of ordering here, rather than ordering one large entree for each person. We were able to try much more things than we would have otherwise. My favorites were the potatoes (came with fresh kimchi), the carrots and beets, and the soup. I also loved my cocktail, which was a beet inspired margarita drink. The house bread we ordered was delicious, but I personally felt that the dip that came with it was a bit bland. I would've loved to have more salt or other flavors in there. Regarding the menu overall, I would have liked to see less mushroom options. I like the concept of the restaurant and feel like the chef can do great things but more variety would've been great. I'll likely come back once the menu changes a bit. The service and ambiance was great. I would say that Topsoil is pretty casual in terms of dress.

First time here for my wife's birthday. Very expensive for what you get...ordered Belvedere and club soda... They got it right the first round, but when asked for a refill it was tonic instead of club soda. (yuck) Ordered the strip steak and the portion was less than 1/4 lb... just a small disc of meat (about the same size as 2 slices of Canadian bacon on an egg McMuffin) So for 4 drinks and 2 entrees @ $45.00 per person, the bill was $153.00 and we were still hungry when we left. The food was tasty, but that's not enough for the price. At least you don't smell the kitchen in the dining area, and the napkins don't smell bad either.

First time last night. What a treat for my husband and me! Decor is beautiful. There was a jazz duo playing and they added so much to the already fantastic ambience. The bar is beautiful, but the scene stealer is the screened in porch. Sit there! Now, the cocktails and food were top notch. The pate--get it. No discussion. My swordfish with all of its amazing garnishes/and more was quite satisfying to my ocean upbringing. Sean, our waiter, was super kind and helpful. I trusted him with each drink choice. Then, there is the hostess, with the mostest--Anna. She has an ebullient spirit. Then, Addie is top shelf, too. Don't know what her job title is because she is everywhere. She really impressed me with her dedication to the job! I spoke briefly with the manager Sean. He was so polite and gracious. Is it wrong to have a goal of going there once a week? Asking for a friend.

Food was very good, but serve martinis in a real martini glass, not one in the size of a cordial glass. Ridiculous at $17 bucks a pop.

We visited on a Friday evening for Restaurant Week, and the food was exemplary, a solid thumbs up from all four of us at the table. We did have some minor logistical problems, some that may have been of our own making, based on what we ordered, other issues perhaps from the kitchen that appears no larger than the former Williams Hardware- i.e., small. Still, a 4-Star experience overall. We knew from consulting the RWSC site that the menu changed daily. In fact, it even changed from the single one-color sheet for the evening that accompanied the regular menu. It's "the nature of farm to table" explained our very personable server, Sarah, a bit nervously. She had obviously heard complaints from other tables about flounder being replaced by scallops. Had the daily RWSC menu simply been reprinted, we wouldn't have known that there had been a substitution at all. So, two of our party stayed with the 3-for-$30 RWSC menu, one preferring the scallops, anyway. Both had the squash soup starter, and Plantation Farms Quail, enjoying both. The others opted instead for Pasta Bolognese with Greenbrier Farms beef ($18), and Bulgogi Shortrib ($20), off the regular menu. Sarah offered to cool off the spicy Shortrib dish for one of us by substituting potatoes, and it made for a wonderful entree. Unfortunately, with the kitchen slammed on this Friday evening, the pasta was served well ahead of the quail, and the meals for restaurant week were a little out of sync from the rest of the party from then on. Sensing the situation perfectly, Sarah swooped in with free desserts for the party to save the day! The charcuterie and cheese starter ($26) is certainly worth a mention and sampling- there is enough to share, and with the house made pickles, bread, crackers, and local sausage, it's worth the premium price. The crackers are not available for take home, yet, but as the co-owner described, they are like gourmet large cheese-its (but without the cheese). Topsoil is worth the journey.

Excellent food, service and atmosphere in quaint Travelers Rest SC. Worth the drive from wherever! We loved everything we had. A bit on the pricey side but they nailed it. Looking forward to our next visit!

The food and drink were the only part of the experience that made our anniversary brunch 2 stars. Upon making our reservation, Topsoil asks you to choose inside or porch. Anticipating a very cold, rainy day in May we chose inside, which is how my wife determined her outfit. I dropped my wife off because of the rain and parked, meanwhile they made it seem only the porch was available before I could get inside from the parking lot. There was a warm, cozy, 2 seat table available inside, but apparently not for us. Now my wife is not dress warm enough and the heater keeps turning off, like it's on a timer. The screen door is continuously left open by the staff not realizing the Northeast wind is howling through open door onto the porch. Each time we asked for it to remain closed someone would come and leave it open. I latched the door several times and in 2 minutes it's back open. We addressed the situation and no one cared or fixed the porch door. No customers were even sitting in that section of the porch. Finally in the last 5 minutes they fixed the heaters to remain on. Also, the waitress told us not to order the fennel cocktail because we would not understand fennel that it taste weird and bitter. An insulting assumption as are very familiar with fennel and cook with it at home. Over rode her insult and ordered it anyway. Terrible anniversary freezing cold experience.

Amazing! Restaurants like this can make anything taste good I think! The amberjack was phenomenal! I just took my servers advice on everything I hate and she didn't lead me wrong. Dessert was a passion fruit chocolate crunch something or other. Just go eat there! It was recommended to me. Just make sure you look at their hours because they were closed when I went yesterday.

The food was FANTASTIC! Had a wonderful brunch made with fresh, well thought out entrees. We were helped by Kirsten. She was a delight and made us feel welcome.

My wife and I were in town for a week and decided to go here for dinner on our final night. We had the chicken pate, duck egg pasta, spice crusted salmon, and a chocolate passionfruit dessert that our waiter, Frank, described as a high end Heath bar. Throughout the meal I had to ask my wife why she looked so upset. She told me it was because the food was all so good and we have to wait until our next visit to eat there again. Best pasta dish I've ever had. Almost asked for a second order.

Farm to table was the draw here and with a few exceptions, everything is from their farm or local farms. We made reservations for Sunday brunch without a problem. The ambiance inside is nice and there is also seating on the porch out back overlooking the Swamp Rabbit trail. I had the soup of the day which was sweet potato and sandwich which had spec ham (like brosciutto) with cheese. I was able to substitute gluten free bread which makes me happy. The cheese was melted just right and it was very good. The soup was creamy and yummy. My husband loves all things pancake for breakfast out and lots of syrup on it so he tried the French toast made out of sour dough bread. He had to ask for extra syrup for the two pieces of bread but it was no problem. The bread was good. The "fresh fruit" on top was sliced banana which seemed odd as we are in local strawberry season. He also had two eggs on the side which were good. Knowing where they came from is also good feeling although I'm not sure our taste buds could tell the difference. He also got an Americano for his coffee which was a good choice for someone who likes strong coffee. They have a great selection of drinks and many are local. Service was provided to us by Robert who was attentive and helpful. Overall, we had a very good experience and felt the cost was comparable to the quality we received.

Such a nice spot! Great service, food, and environment. The drinks were delicious and all the food felt intentional and detailed with all the flavor pairing. Reasonably priced but does lean expensive but it's all incredibly fresh and it does feel worth it. Will be coming back soon for sure!

This place is amazing. James Beard semi finalist chef and Sunday nights they do a tasting menu with wine pairing. It is the ultimate date spot! All of their food is farm to table and is delicious and fresh plus helps local businesses. Love the people there and amazing service

This was my first time trying Topsoil and even though I just moved to TR two months ago... I've been missing out! Their Cinnamon French Toast is amazing because the taste and the texture is perfect; presentation is perfect too. I ordered to go and everything came in biodegradable package which was a plus. Of course, I can't forget to mention the service. All the employees were professional, courteous, and sweet! The manager even held the door for me so I could push my stroller out. I'll definitely be back to get the French toast and to try other food!

This just seems like the natural place to stop on the way to the mountains, but we really should come more often because the food is phenomenal! As before, the carrot pancakes were amazing, and hub's choice of the breakfast sandwich with thick cut bacon added was the perfect crunchy savory combo. The roasted potatoes were the perfect accompaniment. Service is nice, overhead music is cool. Go now!

The food, service and ambience are all superb. Our waiter, Robert, was very attentive and personable. We both ordered the market fish from the price fixe menu which also came with a small plate and dessert... everything was excellent and fresh and I look forward to going back soon!!

The food was off the chart good and the service even better. What a great spot! Pay no attention to the few crappy reviews. Fresh food and awesome people. Everything was outstanding.

Came here just for breakfast one Sunday and sat at the bar. I wasn't in a drinking mood, but their cocktail menu looks pretty impressive. Inside looks like they've had a little facelift since the last time I was here (Williams Hardware). The menu is really interesting, and none of the items come with a side. I got the breakfast sandwich with tomato chutney and a perfectly cooked egg (yellow was half cooked/half runny) on an English muffin (I got it without cheese). That was $10, plus another $2 for avocado. The best part in my opinion was the chutney, but they only used about half a teaspoon in the middle, so I got more on the side. The coffee was good, and there are free refills. All in all I'd say it was okay, but felt that it was a little pricey. It is nice that they have so many vegetarian options (that aren't just fried things or pizza) and a parking lot.

This place was BAD. The service. The food. Everything. I wish there was something positive to say but this was one of the worst overall restaurant experiences I've ever had. We had a party of 10 and I know that can overwhelm a kitchen so we werent expecting the speediest delivery of our food but the wait times we experienced were ridiculous. We arrived at the restaurant at 12:10 and we didn't leave the restaurant until after 3:00 when we were finally given our checks. When we were finally brought our food it was cold. The burger was $14 and the flavor was okay (pretty bland) but a cold burger is just not something I ever want to experience again. We also ordered the Spanish Tortilla which came out the same way (pretty bland & cold) Our whole party ordered a range of items and nobody was very pleased with their food. We spent a total of $60 for brunch for the two of us which included two very underwhelming cocktails (a Bloody Mary & a Looser sister) It did not feel good to drop that amount of money on such an awful experience. This place is pretty new so I hope they can work out these issues. They've got some serious work to do though from the quality of service to the execution of the food. It's disappointing because the space looks really nice and everything on the menu sounded good. They just have a long way to go in order to make their execution match the prices they are charging.

Great restaurant. Food and staff top notch. We had brunch and everything plated as described and quality was excellent. We look forward to returning for an evening meal.

Wowzer!! This brand new offering is in the location of the former Williams Hardware on Main Street in TR. The folksy, cluttered decor has disappeared and sleek, streamlined interior reigns. Our group of 5 did our usual "group order": charcuterie and sauces/pestos. We ordered a second charcuterie board and a baguette because the first offering was so excellent. On the boards were a variety of truly unique cheeses , cured deli style meats, delicious bread slices, olives (a wonderful variety) and scrumptious figs--wonderful fig slices. The sauce/dip/pesto offerings were really good, flavorful and saucy but mild--no burning palates! The night we visited the beer offerings were very limited and I was asked what I'd like to see added. The had wine on tap and the white wine I selected was fruity and refreshing but a tad pricey. Parking is within the range of the restaurant in a strip area with several businesses on Main. We chose to sit on the screened porch area overlooking the Swamp Rabbit Trail and I mean RIGHT there on the Trail--like 15 feet away. A beautiful garden setting, great food, good friends. Perfect evening

We just went to Topsoil for family brunch and I was pleasantly surprised. We've gone to other restaurants in Travelers Rest and they were disappointing, but this is a good one! I got the veggie hash and it was so fresh and perfectly portioned. My kids got cinnamon bun French toast and my husband got the steak and eggs. It was a crowd pleaser which rarely happens. The staff was really welcoming and patient with my picky eaters. Would definitely recommend to anyone wanting to treat themselves to a nice brunch.

What a gem!! Friend brought me here because it's his favorite restaurant. The freshest quality ingredients in town. Kudos to the chef and staff.

What a place!! We discovered topsoil through Chef Craig, who has been our instructor many times at The Cooks Station. He is a trusted source and has been emersed in the restaurant scene for a long time. I have had dinner here with my husband on multiple occasions, drinks and appetizers with girlfriends and brunch with my mom. Always a wonderful experience and you can always taste how fresh and high quality the food is.
