Topsys Popcorn

It's a classic I can remember from childhood. I personally love a piece or two of cheddar and camel eaten at the same time. My mom loves the cinnamon popcorn, and no other popcorn place matches Topsys cinnamon popcorn!

We got a small bag of “fresh” buttered popcorn for me and my son. It was SUPER greasy! The employee double bagged it and within 10 minutes the grease had soaked through the second bag completely. Every bite I took left my hands super greasy (which is probably one of the reasons all the stores in crown center say no outside food, I wouldn’t want that all over my merchandise either). It was all over my son’s jacket as well, which now needs a good cleaning. He is 6 and not a messy eater. I am not sure whether it was fresh, but having an open popcorn machine seems like it would predispose it to being stale. We ate half the bag and threw the rest away. I love buttered popcorn, but this was over the top greasy. It also left my throat extremely itchy. Maybe a preservative? Idk but whatever that greasy mixture was, it wasn’t pure butter. I felt like I was coming down with something. But now after eating dinner my throat feels fine. Employee was very friendly but product was not enjoyable.

What appeared to be freshly popped popcorn in the store front window was very stale. We also purchased a pre packaged bag which was stale too. This was on a Saturday afternoon on a busy holiday weekend. Very disappointing all around.

This popcorn is addictive. It is soooo good and if you're lucky enough to have NeeNee take care of you you're in for a sweet treat. What kind and fun your lady. She was very knowledgeable about the popcorn, very kind, and just fun to talk to. She made the experience great! We'll be back everytime we're in KCMO.

I am a POPCORN fiend but I CANNOT get enough of Topsy's popcorn. I went to Crown Center with family in town and was thrilled to see a Topsys popcorn stand. Did you know how Topsys got its name?? The fantastic woman working told me the whole story of a popcorn spot opening in a "rich & topsy" area of KC...the Plaza! Make sure to get yourself and friends/family Topsys popcorn when you are in town.

I purchased 6 gallon popcorn 2 days ago it was stale. This has happened last couple years nothing like I remember being fresh and fluffy. I definitely won't patronize this location again

I had been here one time before and it was great. Today was a let down. I noticed big bags of popcorn in the store. That is what it tasted like, prepackaged and not freshly popped. It was stale and very disappointing when I made the effort to buy it and take the time being from out of town. This definitely was not fresh,popped popcorn because I was there shortly after the store opened. Very disappointed and I threw it away. The microwave popcorn at the hotel was many times better.

I'm upset that this popcorn is so good. My daughter wanted it and we were tired so we gave in. I was expecting normal, half stale popcorn shop stuff. But it's so good! 😭

I lived in Chicago for 9 years, and Topsy's cheddar/caramel blend tops Garrett's! My boss, who is also from Chicago, is actually the one who turned me onto them. I ended up buying for him for a bosses day gift one year, tried it, and... the rest is history. Less greasy. Less harsh fake cheddar taste. Wins all around. I'll definitely be a repeat customer!

Yummy, fresh popcorn for an awesome price (not the movie theater prices)! This cherry limeade is also soooooooooo good! The lady working there is also very sweet and makes a dang good limeade and small popcorn. The shop itself is adorable. Love!

We always stop here for popcorn and/or a cherry limeade when we visit Crown Center. Topsy's has the best butter and cinnamon popcorn! My only critiques during my most recent stop here, would be to get bags that don't leak the butter so bad and maybe to cut back the amount of cherry flavoring added to the limeades.

Kansas City staple for at least 50 years. Always look forward to receiving a canister every Christmas.

I called Topsys to ask if this location sold the seasonal Holiday flavors that were sold at the Chiefs Game Sunday December 10th. They had festive bags of Peppermint crunch, Caramel Mocha, and a few others. She was very rude and said we do not have that, and I don't know where you can find it. I said I had asked someone at the game where they could be bought and she said The Topsys Locations, you don't have any of the holiday flavors? She was like "NO" and pretty much hung up. Not helpful, friendly, and extremely poor customer service skills. It would have been nice if she could have asked where they could be found.

I lived in Kansas City for years and this was a treat for me. I loved Topsy Popcorn, the cheese was the cheesiest ever. Since moving over ten years ago, it is a tradition to order myself a three flavor tin. I know that Covid has affected us all but the popcorn is sub-standard and not living up to its name. The cinnamon was good as usual, but the cheese was anything but cheesy, caramel was very light in color, sparingly coated, very disappointing. I guess I'm done with that tradition!!!

This is not the best place to buy Topsy's popcorn. The popcorn is stale and the lady working there is extremely rude. The Topsy's in Brookside is much better. The staff is friendly and the popcorn is fresh. I love Topsy's Popcorn, just not this one. I'm giving THIS location one star.

Why have a nutritional lunch or snack when I can go into the office kitchen and get a bowl of popcorn? ::headdesk:: I thank tiny, infant baby Jesus that our building landlord did not get cinnamon-flavored popcorn in these gift tins. Because I'd be at capacity.

A Kansas City institution. This place will make your kids go crazy! Ice cream, pop corn, candy and slurpee's. I love the cinnamon flavored popcorn the best. In the summer, I like to stop in for diet cherry lime-aids....yum!

Horrible customer service!! I ordered popcorn to be delivered for a Christmas gift - package was lost in the mail.. this isn't my problem, as we all know this can happen occasionally. It was the horrible, snarky, flippant, excuse ridden response I received, when I finally did reach a representative- after several attempts and several days of no -response. It baffles me that this day in age a company doesn't understand how badly poor customer service can hurt their business. Their customer service reps are obviously inexperienced and untrained... Buyer beware - you will be at the mercy of these unprofessional uncaring reps if you run into any issues. I will no longer recommend Topsy's ..

I love popcorn....I LOVE cheese popcorn....I LUV TOPSY'S Cheese Popcorn better than any other (and equally well to their local rival in Kansas that I have also reviewed). So whenever I am in the vicinity of a Topsy's, any Topsy's, I have to stop and get a bag. The store at Crown Center is where I get my Topsy's popcorn most often. Topsy's cheese popcorn is more pricey than the pale imitations of cheese popcorn I can find at a few grocery stores. That makes it worth spending the extra money whenever I get the opportunity. The flavor is more intense and even the popped kernels are bigger and fluffier. It is definitely a quality product, worth the expense and is just a mad indulgence of mine! If I seem a little too infatuated and obsessed about cheese popcorn....well I would have to agree: I'm Guilty, as charged. But Topsy's has my back and I have theirs!

THIS PLACE BELONGS IN THE HALL OF FAME FOR BEST POPCORN !!! I've lived in KCMO for years and took this place for granted! If your a tourist , trust me a stop in and grab a sample ! This place has the best popcorn ever hands down, I PROMISE!

Stopped in on Saturday for an over priced ($4) bag of cold popcorn covered in slime I won't call butter. The .35 water cup was the best part of the transaction. I would have waited for fresh popcorn instead of the bottom of the cart, as it where, but that wasn't offered (although we noticed the very next customer they DID pop fresh popcorn for) Overall, disappointing.

The cinnamon popcorn is to die for! Prices are reasonable. Love buying the big bag of popcorn and taking it to work to share with my coworkers.

Topsy's has the most awesome flavored popcorn. You can buy those $6 buckets at the discount store, but I prefer quality. The flavors of the popcorn are just so much more intense. The cheese popcorn has tons of cheese, the caramel popcorn has a thick coating and the cinnamon (which you never find in the cheap discount tins) is spicy! If you just want some to munch on while shopping, get a mixed bag. It is so yummy.

I was in town for a large convention and was excited about getting some popcorn from Topsy's. When I and 2 of my colleagues approached the counter, I was looking at the choices of popcorn and asked if they had samples. The look and service we received was absolutely horrible and unimaginable. The worker said the pecan popcorn comes prepackaged. I then asked what about the cheddar? She proceeded to walk to the back to get a sample but did do so, reluctantly. I couldn't understand why she was so rude and nasty. Her demeanor left me very puzzled; so I asked if she was having a bad day? She replied, I wasn't until now. I proceeded to ask what did I do? She said I was a bit aggressive and demanded a sample. I was totally taken aback and appalled at her response because it was simply a lie. I did not ask in that manner at all. My colleagues and I were in awe at the treatment and horrendous service we recd. To make matters worse, as we were engaged in conversation she picked up the phone as if she were calling the police as if we were doing something wrong! I will never patronize this establishment as I will always be remembered of this experience.
