"A planned Middle Eastern concept that had undergone major renovations in Piedmont Heights but never opened now has a for-sale sign in front, with Google marking it temporarily closed. Owned by members of the Popatiya and Hamirani families, the venture promised extravagant Persian and other Middle Eastern dishes and cocktails but stalled before launch." - Henna Bakshi

"Set to open this summer in the former Atmosphere French Bistro bungalow on Piedmont Avenue in Piedmont Heights, this Middle Eastern restaurant takes over a cozy space that served traditional French fare for 20 years. Owned by Amisha and Altaf Popatiya with Nilofer and Sajid Hamirani, the kitchen is led by Chef Peyman Rostami, who previously served as a private chef to Sultan Qaboos of Oman. The menu highlights regional dishes such as freshly baked barbari bread, 12-hour slow-cooked lamb ribs, slow-cooked duck leg, filet mignon kebabs, and desserts like faloodeh. Design and decor pay tribute to the region’s culture and history—the restaurant’s name (meaning the bergamot orange in Persian) and recurring orange tulip motifs reference the Ottoman tulip era—while much of the bungalow’s interior remains, reconfigured into a larger dining room with a semi-circular bar at the entrance, two private dining areas in back, and a front patio expected to open in late July or August. Anticipated hours are Monday–Thursday 5 p.m.–11 p.m., Friday and Saturday 5 p.m.–12 a.m., and Sunday 5 p.m.–10 p.m." - Beth McKibben
