⭐️⭐️⭐️ 3 out of 5 stars Tried out Torchy’s Tacos in Abilene, Texas, and the experience was a mix of highs and lows. I went with the shrimp salad bowl — it was decently good, but the shrimp could’ve used a bit more flavor and should’ve been cooked a little longer. Still, it wasn’t bad overall, just didn’t quite hit the mark. The service, however, was great. The to-go staff were quick and attentive — they literally brought the food right to the door as soon as I walked in, which made the whole process fast and convenient. No waiting around in line, which I really appreciated. The restaurant itself was very clean, which always makes a good impression. Plus, the to-go order was packaged really well — everything was secure and tidy, with no mess during the ride home. All in all, it was a decent visit. With a little more attention to the flavor and texture of the shrimp, this could easily bump up to a 4-star experience.

The first time here was good, and I will return. I got the steak fajitas taco, and the wife got the Democrat and the Republican. My steak was very tasty but too tough to be in a taco. I tasted her Democrat and the corn tortillas was awesome and so was the meat until I hit the cilantro.

Not bad for fast food tacos. Counter service was nice and the establishment was clean. The food arrived quickly and it tasted good. Bartender was accommodating as well.

The food is almost always really good. The service is mostly not but Jessica was great today, usually the people who bring out our food seem unhappy and booths often need washed but tables in the middle are open. People want to sit in a booth— please wipe them down.

Love the “Democrat” ❤️ When paying, there’s an option for a tip, which starts off at 18-20% . But I’m not sure for what as one throws their own trash and there is no waiter service.

I’m from Los Angeles. This food is definitely not authentic Mexican food. But that’s okay! It’s like a fancier Del Taco. I usually get the steak burrito with everything and some avocado salsa on the side. The service is good, they ask you if you need anything after dropping your food off but after that they aren’t waiting on tables. Kinda of price for the quality but I eat here if a group of my friends are going.

We stopped by Torchy's Tacos and ordered three tacos along with chips and queso. The self-ordering kiosk was super easy to use, and our food came out quickly, fresh, and exactly as ordered. Everything was delicious--especially the queso, which is a must-try! I'd definitely come back to sample more of their menu.

Had the blackened salmon bowl that was very good, especially with the mango and pistachos (ill order extra mango for my liking). There is a bar at the center, which i think is pretty neat for a taco place. Music not to loud, very busy, but plenty of room. I did bite into a very hard piece of bone, very unexpected of course. Very nice manager offered to re-place the bowl, thank you for your customer service, i did choose a drink to try there sweet tea. The salmon bowl came out in less than 10 minutes, i would have liked it hotter in temperature. The most important thing is the flavor was good.

Been here several times and each time it gets worse. TERRIBLE service and rude staff. They are not helpful at all. Clearly just collecting a paycheck and do not care at all about customer service.

Just went for their "Bowl Cut" promotion! The bowls were AMAZING!! I had salmon and my husband had the chicken one--we shared--both were yummy! We love their chips and queso too! The manager is SO nice!! The place is clean and we got our food in a very few minutes!!! We highly recommend this place!!!

I'm sorry but this place was the absolute worst! Terrible customer service and the food was mediocre. I e been to Torchy's in other cities and it's always amazing. Very disappointed!!

The new self order device is hard to use and slow... and our orders still came out wrong. We double checked that it wasn't our mistake. Our food came out cold and honestly, just wasn't good. Torchys used to be a fave of ours, but recently hasn't been good. We had to hunt people down to get sauces that we included in our order as well. #disappointed

The food is great as always, but this location is so slow at getting it to you... even when there's hardly any people. It's so slow.

This is hands down my favorite place to stop for tacos in Abilene. We don't have one in San Angelo so when we come through town we always stop here. Fast service, food prices with military discount. Lots of variety in tacos they offer. Love that you can get corn or flour tortillas here. Their green and red salsa is spectacular as well. I'd get every one of my 4 tacos again in a blink. Super tasty and big!

I had never been here before but it was conveniently located next to places I was already at. I was pleasantly surprised at the ambiance and found the layout to be pretty cool. Everything looked very good, so I wasn't sure what to order. My server, Skylar, was awesome and expertly took over. She made great recommendations that you could tell were from her favorites and the food was perfect. I had the Tipsy Chick, Republican, and Democrat tacos. All of them were perfect and each had its own flavor profile. Given the sampling I just experienced, I have to say I will be back and will likely try all of them! So many great choices! And the icing on the cake, as is always the case with me- they make a great Michelada!!!! I will be back for sure.

ASS!!! The barbacoa tasted like it was seasoned with a brick or salt. I wish I would've stole something. Just I would've gotten my Moneys worth. Restaurant was clean tho

The closest Torchy's to me is an hour and a half away but every time we go to Abilene we eat here. The tacos are stuffed, no skimping on ingredients. I've tried several, Crossroads is a favorite. Lol I make guac a lot, but this guac and chips is A MUST! It's so d*mn good!! We never wait very long for our order to come out. The staff is friendly and helpful when you don't know what to choose. Who do I need to talk to get one of these in San Angelo?!!?

We ordered our food along our friends at 6:31 and we didn't receive our food until 7:00, and they didn't receive theirs until after 7:10. There was three other people in the restaurant at the time and we didn't receive any apologies or refill on chips while we waited for our friends' food to come out.

I guess I'm probably the last person in Abilene to finally try Torchy's Tacos. I don't know why it took so long. I guess the free birthday chips and queso finally made me do it. On a weekday lunch, it wasn't busy at all. Chips & queso came out first. Spicy queso and thin, crisp chips. Loved it! Just a little too spicy for Glenda and Danielle, so most of it was mine! You get lucky once in a while. We got beef fajita, chicken fajita, and shrimp tacos. All were delicious. Just a hair smaller than I was expecting for the price, but still delicious! We were happy with the food, and they checked on us several times. Good service. We will definitely come back to try different tacos, and more spicy queso for me!

Torchy's isn't the cheapest but it's not that expensive and it's super good! I've tried a lot of the menu but usually get 2 tacos (a Tipsy Chick and Brushfire) with a side of rice but I've never had anything I didn't like! The Democrat and Republican are also good (the only politicians I really care for)! The Bacon Bourbon Marmalade might sound weird but it's the ultimate condiment and they'll usually give you a side of it for free! Torchy's has some of the best chips and queso, great frozen margaritas and a super easy to use app! They're usually playing some good music (often a little too loudly) but we typically just order to-go! The people are always nice and friendly and the service is usually pretty fast!

Tried the Alabama Shake (taco of the month), The Democrat, Green Chile Pork, Baja Shrimp - all great!

The difference that happened in 4 months, the last time I ate there food was great, cleanliness not the best, the young girls bringing the food seemed a little snobby. I was visiting my parents and they decided to go there again. It appeared a little cleaner but the food was nowhere near as good, I'm not sure what happened between visits but I will not be going to Torchy's again especially after seeing the health inspection score it sickened me to think. Can't say I'm surprised my dad who eats local, comes here more often then I have said it's hit or miss depending on what day of the week. Coming during the day always better he said and that evening isn't a gamble he takes often until a month or so ago when the timeliness improved and actually got a good taco.

This place is the best the chicken tenders were the best definitely a five stars I'm so glad that my parents and relatives suggested this place

Your employee Skylar was very rude when handing us our food she was very unprofessional and had a very nasty attitude. I felt very uncomfortable being there because she kept staring and laughing at me. I use to love coming to torchy's but i feel uncomfortable being there.

We love Torchy's. Great outdoor ambiance. Fast service. The queso is great, always add extra meat makes a meal in itself. Great selection of tacos. Yum Yum.

Although I've been to Torchy's before in the DFW area, this is my first review on our new Abilene location. Atmosphere: Not your normal everyday strip mall environment, they have a very nice outdoor seating area with faux wood picnic tables which are very nice. Inside is very clean. 1 Star Service: It's a fast casual place so service is generally limited to your register experience and the runner who brings out your meal. I've been twice now and the register experience has been fantastic. They seemed very knowledgeable for a brand new restaurant opening (good training). Quick to make substitutions without having to call a manager over and also extremely friendly. The runners asked us each time if there was anything we needed and even came back around to check again. 2 Stars Food: I try to make it hard to get a 5 star rating because the food has to be super strong to rate both stars. Even though this isn't a fine dining experience and I wouldn't rate the food in that respect, it's still very good food for a fast food place. I have now tried 5 different tacos from the menu and have not been disappointed in the least. The ingredients all look, smell, and taste fresh. The sauces are top-notch and I haven't received any meat item that was over or undercooked. The taste combinations are well balanced. I'm actually quite impressed. As a fast casual place it deserves 5 stars. 2 Stars Well, I'll definitely be going back and it may become a regular of mine after the newness wears off and the line chill's out.

Always super friendly staff! The manager has never not come and checked on us and made sure everything was good. The food is always great and quick to come out. I don't understand the 1 star reviews. For a chain they still make it feel like a mom and pop owned place.

We waited 45 minutes for our tacos. Not once did staff check in on us, and also they were unapologetic. I'd understand if they were busy, but there were a total of 3 customers in the restaurant. This has been a recurring issue for us.

We placed an online order an hour before for 5:30 pm but when we got there, our order was not ready. We had to wait until 5:50 pm for our order to come out. It would've been the same amount of time if we had just ordered there.

First time going to Torchys a few days ago and yeah the prices are a bit high for the tacos, BUT the service was great and the food was still good. I really like the laid back atmosphere too, great spot for a quick date night!

So to preface, I have probably eaten Torchy's a thousand times, might actually be an under-exaggeration. My favorite tacos were the Mad Cow on the secret menu or the Democrat. The best taco of all time they created was the Big Pilgrim, I miss it every November. However, this is not a very good location is my only guess. Today will most likely be the last time we eat here. I ordered a family pack to go via online and my wife arrived shortly after it said it would be ready. It took another half hour to get it while every person she spoke to told her it was ready in the back. That was helpful. By the time she got the food, she was very ready to go, so for some reason she overlooked checking the bags. Huge mistake. So at home we start unpacking this meal that is supposed to feed 4-5. I guess if everyone eats a taco that could work, but you will not get 8 tacos out of what we received. This is the first time I tried the family pack. Extremely disappointed. Not going to feed a family, especially since some of my items were not even there, but this is not the first disappointment from this location. Incompetence for the win. I took a pic so you can see what $50 gets you here to feed your family. The meat and onions looks bigger than it is. Cheese was less than half. The only thing not skimped on was the beans, but they did not taste good so it was a lose. Also, check out the nice brown, splotchy avocado slices. I really wish this was a Freebirds, their family packs are perfect and the app is better. Now I want Freebirds, especially since I'm still hungry from running out of food.

This place was fantastic!!! I am shocked it doesn't have a better rating on Yelp. Everything was so good. And the portions are quite hefty. I have to say, I'm glad I only got one taco there's no way I could've eaten two. I highly recommend the margaritas!

Tacos and margaritas are the best here! Everyone is so friendly and the food gets out fast.

The queso here is next level. Came here with some coworkers for margaritas and ended up eating a large queso by myself. Personally didn't try the tacos but they said thry were good. Definitely will be back as the service and food was top notch.

I wanted to give this location the benefit of the doubt since the first time I visited they were fairly new. One year later they still suck! The table are disgusting, we ended up getting the cleaning towel and rag off the trash can and clean our own table. They were probably at 20% capacity yet every table was dirty. They were out of both brisket and chicken!?! How!??? We eat Torchy's at a minimum once a week in our hometown, and they are amazing. This one is garbage.

The slogan is correct, Damn Good! It is a sigh of relief to be writing a GOOD review as the last few times in Abilene, we haven't had the best of luck! I had eaten at the one in Austin so when I saw there was one in Abilene, we had to try it! So thankful we did! Each part was delightful! Chips and queso, the barbacoa (cuz I don't care for the real name) and Baja shrimp were amazing! The crossroads and brushfire also were not only delish but enough to feed a grown man! We are still talking about how great it was hours later!! The service was phenomenal as well, we sat at the bar so we were able to visit more with the servers and manger which was also very pleasant! We will be back for sure!

Everything was inedibly salty and this place is excessively expensive for mediocre tacos and no service

I waited almost an hour for a to-go order of queso. The restaurant was not busy at all. I finally asked the bartender if she could check on it and she looked put out and said "they'll bring it up when it's ready". Then she changed her mind and said she'd check. She came back she said they are training people back there.. so it's a good thing she checked because I don't think it was coming . When I did get it.. they forgot the avocado. Just an overall unpleasant experience.

The food was not good at all I only took about 1 bite of each thing. Very weird flavors did not mix well. I am an adventurous eater and have tried many different tacos but these were definitely in the bottom of the list. The atmosphere was nice and staff was friendly but food was garbage. Will not be returning.

Place is busy. Queso and guacamole is on point. My tacos on the other hand a little lacking, not because of the taste but because my wife did not check the order, and the tacos were not in the bags...More to follow once I have the tacos..

I've eaten a Torchy's in the MetroPlex and they were good. Abilene, the two times I've tried it , is not so good. The food came out Luke warm. Drinks are not well made with bland taste and presentation. Everything is over priced for the quality. I would rather do Rosa's, better prices and quality.

I heard that this torchys had been open for less than a month but it seems they have it together Great bartenders and great food Taco of the month

The salmon taco was really good and nicely seasoned, and the rest of the tacos I've had here have all been good. Pricing is good and it is fairly quick. Would recommend

We stopped here passing through Abilene on a road trip. Have been to other Torchy's many times. We ordered online in advance to save time. Unfortunately our order scheduled for 12:20 pm wasn't ready till 12:50, which added 30 minutes to our road trip. Not at all reliable timing wise. We asked for the status multiple times and just kept being told it was coming. Also, we paid extra to get queso on one of the tacos but it had just the tiniest smear of it. Not worth it.

I visit a lot of Torchys across Texas and was really excited to see one being built in Abilene. Since they've opened here I keep hoping things will get better but now I realize they won't. Today the queso was served 10 minutes after we finished our entrees. I've had queso at Torchys many times and I'm positive it's not supposed to be the consistency of water. Every other chip was as stale as they come. Someone should write the company and get their franchise pulled. This location gives Torchys a bad name. And that's after visiting a dozen times hoping. Well......it ain't gettin no better. Guess we'll go back to Fuzzys, at least in Abilene.

I absolutely love Torchy's but this location is terrible. The tacos we're subpar and poorly packaged but what was even worse was the service. The woman that handed us our food (glasses) was very unfriendly. No greeting, no manners, just rude. I recommend Torcy's but don't recommend this location!

Very nice staff, food was really good and served quickly. The store was clean. I visited on a Tuesday after 5 pm and it began to get busy by then.

Torchy's is our favorite go to Friday lunch spot! Our family loves the patio area! We order the chips and queso (to die for), chicken fajita tacos, beef fajita tacos, Baja shrimp tacos, sangria, and beer every time! The service is awesome and a great time is had by all!

OMG!! The food is awesome! The service is friendly and quick. Place is clean and did I say the food was amazing? Prices reasonable.

If you want food poisoning this is the place for you. We all got sick shortly after eating there and we called the manager, and he hung up on us. All we wanted to do is make them aware they might be poising others.

This is my boyfriend and I favorite taco place. The Baja shrimp taco is great and queso dip to die for. We love the frozen margarita and the staff has always been nice and professional. The food comes out fast and the price isn't bad for how good the tacos taste! It's worth it.

Best tacos and queso in town. Hands down. Wish they had a north side location! We love the trailer park - get it trashy! And I love trying the taco of the month!

After ordering and giving them an extra 10 minutes when I arrived my order was still not ready. They were out of a particular type of taco no big deal was willing to switch with the price difference of $1.50 the manager never offered to credit back the credit card or add in something extra. Sat there and waited another 10 minutes and the assistant said that she would get the manager and the manager never came back up to the front. Terrible customer service.

DO NOT ORDER TO-GO!! The past 4 times that I have been to this restaurant for an ONLINE ORDER, I have had a terrible experience. With the 15 min drive, I still wait an extra 30-45 mins for my order to actually come out. I love the food, but the operations of the restaurant could definitely use some work.
