Torchy’s Tacos Opens West Slaughter Lane Restaurant With Free Tacos | Eater Austin

"A rapidly expanding taco chain is opening its 14th location at 5900 West Slaughter Lane; the Escarpment Village restaurant is set to open Tuesday, November 13 and will host a sneak-peek party on Monday, November 12 from 5 to 8 p.m. offering free menu samples — from tacos and queso to margaritas — and occupies the space that formerly housed a Tex‑Mex restaurant." - Nadia Chaudhury

Always pretty solid. The queso is excellent. This time around, the tacos were a tad cold, so the cheese wasn't melted. The beef fajita in the ranch hand taco was a little gristly and tough to chew. I've ordered these plenty, and this was an exception, but it was our experience this time around. Still a great place for tacos!!

I liked it! Went on a Wednesday night, so not very crowded, but i know that it's a much more popular place on the weekends. The people working were nice, but they didn't really interact, they just kind of stood there did whatever. The food was great, like always, however it took longer than I would have liked. I ordered simple bean and cheese tacos, yet somehow took 25 minutes? They were good though, so I won't complain.

Torchy’s Tacos in Austin, TX, has come a long way from its original trailer, which was truly something special. The brick-and-mortar locations maintain the same bold flavors and creative taco combinations that made the brand famous. Standouts like The Democrat, The Wrangler, and the Fried Avocado taco are all delicious, generously sized, and packed with flavor. That said, the cleanliness of some locations could be improved, especially in dining areas and patios. Investing in better maintenance, sunshades, and more inviting outdoor seating could enhance the experience. Overall, the food remains excellent, and the menu offers great variety, making it a solid choice for taco lovers in Austin.

December 2024 I have tried every Damn Good Taco on the menu and all are very tasty with great flavor. This location is closest to my home and ordered a Chicken Fajita with the seasonal Shiner Holiday Cheer. The taco was very good as usual with its messy looks to it. Once rolled up all the ingredients go well with each other. It's not spicy at all unless you add a kick to it. The beer was actually good with a hint of what tasted like, cranberry. The place is always clean with a very bartender. The patio is a great place to sit at and dog friendly, but on this day was a bit too chilly. Upon leaving I did notice they serve sweet tea and took a taste and was actually good. I love it when they decorate for the holidays.

Queso is always perfectly spicy, bar drinks are delicious. Atmosphere is very chill even when it's busy. Kid friendly, and tons of wild tacos.

The bartender was so kind and helpful. Thank you Celine. The food was delicious, and I particularly enjoyed my frozen margarita. I’m definitely going to visit again.

A nice neighborhood haunt with full bar and a great patio. The food is generally consistent, however on my most recent visit the beef fajita taco was over sauced causing the tortilla to be impossible to eat by hand. Luckily they provide free forks at this establishment!
