Torchy's Tacos

This Torchy’s location never misses! It’s conveniently located and offers plenty of parking to dine-in. They also have both indoor and outdoor seating. We were surprised when we walked in to two new kiosks for self-ordering. There is still one employee available to take orders which is nice. We opted to try the kiosks and were pleasantly surprised at all the options to modify. It took us longer than expected but it was because of modifying our orders. When there’s long lines, I bet those kiosks will come in handy! We will probably opt in for the live employee. We love the rewards program as they will randomly offer us free chips & queso to entice us to come in. I will say Torchy’s queso is one of the top queso’s in Austin, Tx. There I said it. It’s so good but does have a little kick to it. Some say it’s spicy others say it’s perfect. I love that their chips are thin and made in house. I usually go for their chicken salad which is so delicious and flavorful! But they just recently added more salads and bowls and I will have to try them all. My husband really likes the barbacoa and the Baja shrimp tacos! We always love their aguas frescas. The flavors must rotate as they always have something different. You definitely need to try this Torchy’s location!

Had a very nice lunch this afternoon. Store looked great and Torchy’s has amazing authentic tacos! We had top to bottom exceptional service from Ray, from great recommendations to great service! Highly recommend and will definitely be coming back to this location!

We came for a Pokémon event, expecting to buy a drink and a snack and man, I wish I walked out sooner. The bartender, Brandon, didn’t even say Hi, didn’t even acknowledge us, just threw us a menu. After we ordered some drinks, Brandon didn’t ask if we wanted to close our tab, just moved on to the next person—and it wasn’t even busy. We ordered some chips and dip which were subpar—the chips were very salty. Our drinks were decent. But after some friends of the bartender showed up, Brandon suddenly changed moods and seemed to be more engaged, versus the shitty behavior they showed us. Terrible experience. We will never return.

Quick service. 1st time there, food was excellent. Keep in mind the tacos are not huge and priced accordingly. Recommend ordering 2. I had the Crossroads, which was very good. However, my husband had the Hogfather and it was incredible. Salsa Verde is excellent too.

Kiosk’s were a little weird. The buttons and menu were easy to navigate but I prefer face to face contact when placing my order. Jessi was super helpful at the end when we encountered some issues with paying. And the food is always amazing!

I came from out of town to visit a friend, and we decided to stop here - it was amazing!! Jessi recommended the big tipsy bowl and it was sooo yummy. The margaritas were so good and not too sweet. Great service and great good! Definitely would recommended to others.

Great spot for some tacos! This location has a bar which is always a plus at Torchys! Staff was helpful and friendly. Restaurant clean and the food delicious! It would be great to see a collaboration with juice land since the locations are so close 😊.

Great Tacos, Great queso, amazing customer service from Ray at the south congress location! Showed us the "Secret Menu" and the item I had was delicious! He went above and beyond for our satisfaction and I truly am happy overall with the experience.

I had written a one star review maybe a few months ago but changing it to 5 stars and this is why. 1. They switched the $1 off each taco promotion so that it's automatic now so that means the cashier can't just forget it anymore like before and that is great. 2. If you want the salsas in the little plastic container like before, they offer that again now which is good, it'd be preferable in the container by default but I'll take it, I appreciate the effort. On top of that the tacos are as good as always. So yeah, they earned a switch from a 1 star to a 5 star from me. Thanks Torchys for fixing the issue with the promotion (the awesome promotion) and with the salsas no longer being in the containers if we just ask. Much appreciated.

Food is good, but delivery service is horrible. 9 out of 10 times they will forget to deliver any non-alcoholic drink you order. And when you inform the delivery driver of this they just act clueless at your door. And then it's a bitch and a half to get them to remove the order from your bill after the fact. IT HAPPENS EVERY TIME!

Second time this has happened. My son will not each the queso or the gc taco with the toppings. Look at the receipt! It is the correct order! The queso and the gc tacos arrived with all toppings. Someone wrote on the receipt confirming the "checked" the order but they obviously didn't. Lost another $24 meal because of quality control and a staff member's inability to check the product against the receipt.

The tip settings at the register are 18%, 20%, and Custom Amount. Yet when I asked the food runner for more chips, as she was leaving our table from running food to us, she told me to go in and get it myself . What exactly did I pay 18% for? It was kind of darkly funny.

Love these tacos! Not sure what the negative reviews were based on but maybe we got lucky with a good experience. There were five of us and tried 7 types of tacos and a couple quesadillas; everyone was happy. Some come with flour or corn tortillas, so pay attention to that if you care. I liked everything. There was good parking. It was fast and they were friendly staff. Open and airy; spacious, and pretty clean.

Man, I love Torchy's. It's fast. It's good quality ingredients and tortillas. It's just spicy enough. Its crispy. It's Tex Mex.

Torchy's consistently have great tacos (and some of the best queso in town), but this location is a favorite- it's conveniently located by HEB if you need a pre shopping snack, it's got a full bar, and they are welcoming of the local Pokémon Go meetups! What could be a better Wednesday than some queso, a margarita, and some raiding with friend?

First time at this Torchy's location. There's plenty of indoor and patio seating. Food was yum as usual. I always have the chips n queso and fried avocado taco and love it. Also had the passion fruit Margarita - a bit too tangy for my taste but also delicious. Service was quick even though it was pretty crowded on a Friday evening.

We host a weekly Wednesday night raid hour here for Pokemon Go from 6-7, and they've been nice to all our members as we battle Pokemon bosses in raids and enjoy a few drinks and tacos together.

This Torchy's have always been consistently greatly the customer service is wonderful and the food always comes our fresh. My online top of feedback is that the ensure you receive rewards is sometimes a force and tricky if you don't mention it before they charge you you completely loose out.

We love our neighborhood Torchys.I still feel like they have the best margaritas. We show up during happy hour and the bartender knows exactly what we want. There is a nice patio as well as ample indoor seating. There's also multiple screens so you can get caught up on your sports games.

I'm a Torchy's Tacos lover, but either this location or my timing was bad. I was so excited to see this place opening up so close to me. We came here quite a few times and Doordashed from here a bit, but there was a huge issue with mangoes that left a sour taste in my mouth and had me feeling sick. After a month of not going to this location, my brother stopped by and had a horrible experience with mangoes. I contacted support and sure enough they were knowingly giving people bad mangoes for some reason? I made various orders throughout August-October and they all shared a consistent horrible taste that eventually made me sick. Why weren't they calling me when I placed my Doordash orders to say "hey, our mangoes are bad so we'll take them off or you can redo your order" or why didn't they stop me from ordering various mango tacos. I'd gladly order something else, but they went the route of giving me bad mangoes multiple times. Support offered me a refund (I was being nice and said don't worry about this), and Torchy's Bucks (I never got this, and they ghosted me when I followed up). I can't support a place that just doesn't care about customers enough to give them bad food knowingly so I haven't been here in a couple of months. To wrap things up, a quick run-down of some of the items I've had at this location: Churros are good but they skimped on dulce de leche. Grande Burrito had such a delicious tortilla but wasn't all that grande. Still something I'd get again, though. You can choose any meat you want for the burrito. Ace of Spades was really messy and filling. If you like sausage, definitely go for this one. Holy Diver I cannot give a fair review of, but it seemed promising. Cotija cheese did a lot. Brushfire is my go-to taco but it has my aforementioned mangoes so... As always, I highly, HIGHLY recommend Torchy's Queso. They're my favorite queso full stop. As far as this particular location goes, their queso has been on-point except one time when it was cold like they had pre-measured queso cups sitting around. To end on a positive note, Torchy's, in general, has somewhat pricey tacos but they come with a generous portion of meat. Everybody wins - high profit margins meets high meaty satisfaction. At least, when they aren't knowingly giving you bad food.

Great location! I go here almost every week for Pokémon Go with my son. The tacos are freakin huge and loaded! My 8yo son always get the churros and loves them! Drinks are great!

The size of the tacos are good, definitely not your regular street taco! They are very flavorful, the service is very fast, and the vibe inside is fun! I got the Tito's cherry limeade too, that was a bit sour but still super yummy. I would go back again!

I love Torchy's and this location is great. The dining area is a good size and they have a large covered patio. My family thinks their queso is the best in Austin. My kids and I have been to this location a couple times meeting a group of Pokemon Go players for a raid hour. This last time we were there the food runner wished us "happy raiding". It didn't register what he said until after he walked away so "thank you" and thank you to the staff for being so friendly.

I always go to Torchys for their delicious Mr Orange taco. How many places make a salmon taco?! And it's delicious. Today I tried the special - fried catfish taco - which was equally delicious. And it came with refried beans and rice both of which were done well. I really hope they keep this taco on this regular menu. It will keep me coming back more often!

Shoutout to Brandon for his amazing service! He recommended the hog father and I now have a new favorite taco. Food was delicious and out fast. My fiancé and I both had the patron margarita and it was the best margarita we have had in a long time

Top of my Texas food goals every time I'm in town. Tasty and unique. Consistency is great, every time I come back it's always as good as I remember it. I can't stay away from the trashy trailer park.

This place is so far from what it used to be. I'm spending over $50 every time I come here with my girlfriend and we hardly get anything and poor service at that. The queso never comes filled anymore, $10 queso!! They got rid of a bunch of different things on the menu and they also got rid of avocado sauce that I used mainly on most of my tacos.

Spoke to the manager after not receiving a refund I was promised. She walked me through recognizing their challenges and those contributing to it. You can tell she cares and wants to make the place better. I clearly came at a bad time with poor people in place that evening. Her reassurance made me want to continue to try coming knowing people are listening to feedback and trying to make things better. I guess we'll see in time but I do appreciate the time to step aside and chat, even though I was not asking for it and just wanted a refund for the food I never got.

Do not skip the queso!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I would prefer a cooked tortilla but hey I'm still going back for that queso!!!!!!

This is my go to location. Unlike other places, I never have to worry about double checking my orders more missing items. Food and bar is always on point with comfortable seating.

I order for three people. Some friends behind me order their own tickets, too. I leave a custom tip, cuz I don't believe in tipping $11 for counter service. My friends behind me get their food immediately. After waiting at least 10 additional minutes, my food didn't come out til I had to get up and ask for it from the old crotchety guy in glasses, and it's all lukewarm. Someone please explain to me how this isn't him delaying my food because he felt entitled to a 20% tip. What a sad, miserable sap. I'll never be coming back to Torchy's. Their food has gone downhill over the years, anyway.

I love this new torchy's location! Interior design and the exterior patio facing north opens to a oak tree that they preserved in the development. The lighting and me ambience on the outdoor patio pitch perfect in the evening and they have even Incorporated a lot of drop-down fans to keep cool during summer. Services fast and friendly I ordered three tacos just to try them out. The Democrat, fried avocado, and the shrimp taco. All were very tasty and it left me wanting more.... Needless to say.... I torched all three torchy's tacos

Food is always great but the bartenders are some of the worst I've ever had. Zero personality across the board. Honestly just seems like these girls are pissed to be working and make zero effort to have conversation with customers let alone smile when you try and ask them for something. It's never busy but it feels like every time I go, we have to flag them down to get anything. They should work on being more friendly and attentive to customers if they want to get tips! Again, no problem with the food - but bartenders could just step it up.

Decided to give this place ago for take out, despite of the terrible ratings. Food was all right, however, my order did not contain of the ice tea I ordered and paid for. No number to call to get this rectified.

On each of my last 3 carry out orders they've forgotten something from my carry out order. -3: chips and Diablo salsa missing -2: entire taco missing -1: baja shrimp taco had no shrimp on it I learned to check the bag after the 1st two to ensure everything was in there, never in a million years thought I'd have to open everything to make sure the main ingredient wasn't missing from a taco.

We LOVE Torchy's Tacos. We've dined at many locations throughout Austin and Round Rock. When this location popped up SO close to home I was super excited. Today we tried the Chili Wagon and it did not disappoint. The stewed chicken with fried poblano was a great pair. I would suggest that fried poblano in other tacos too, it made the taco. Their chips and queso is in my top 5 Austin favorite quesos. Thanks Torchy's!

I was standing in line when I saw a couple trying to figure out the menu, they were from out of town (Florida) when a guy behind the counter who turned out to be the Manager yelled at the man saying you ordering from here or there with an attitude. The man said he was saying he's trying to figure out the menu. The Manager then rudely tried explaining the menu and was condescending. The guy just stepped back. The Manager then just walked away from the register. I was shocked...This Manager needs a Human Diversity class and an Angry Management class too. If this is how Management treats their customers, I can only imagine how they treat their employees and that sucks. I know I won't be back..., Someone at Corporate needs to have a REAL heart-to-heart talk with this Manager...

We were looking at the menu off to the side, so we weren't in anyone's way. When we got up to the register, my husband asked a question about an item on the menu and the cashier, who come to find out was a manager, was very rude and disrespectful. Not something you would expect from a MANAGER!!!

I love Torchy's Tacos. I was extremely happy when "The Oaks" location opened up on South Congress. This Torchy's in particular is extra special because it is the only location where the managing partner, Jade Amador, has personally checked in on my family and I on several occasions. The food is always excellent, whether ordering in person or online. The staff visibly takes pride in their work and are always polite and professional. I agree with some of the other reviews that this location's rating should definitely be higher. Great job Jade and the team! I will keep coming back!

Food is very good for a chain taco joint however, the service is absolutely terrible. The cashiers are always so rude and oblivious.

I ordered 6 fresh avocado tacos today through Favor. Favor was great. Torchy's, however, was NOT. Attached is a photo of what I received. The main ingredients for an avocado taco are refried beans and avocado. Do you see any refried beans in this taco? There's about 1 teaspoon. Unacceptable. For this, I paid $4.99 plus tax! Again, unacceptable. I won't be ordering from this Torchy's again. For $5.00, I can do so much better and will. Order an avocado taco at your own risk.

The wife and I have been to the Kyle location three times now. We sat at the bar and enjoyed drinks along with the Taco of the month. Every time the drinks have been great, the bar tenders have been nice and the tacos were tasty.

My family and I come here way too often! It's is close to our house and the casual atmosphere makes it really easy to come with our baby. The bar staff (John and the gang) are really friendly and accommodating. The food is consistent and dining room and bathrooms are always clean.

I had an order placed for pick up. 2 Tacos. Mr.Orange and Chicken Fajita. The ONLY restriction, is no cheese. While this mishap may have been easily solved. After 3 hours of calling and NO consumption of the tacos (Severely Allergic), I could not get even a phone picked up. I find this unusual as another Slaughter location I contacted by mistake; was absolutely amazing. The Manager there was so forgiving and concerned I felt embarrassed I made a complaint about the mistake. Come to the actual location of the mistake, zero answers in over three hours. 19+ calls. This location is not worth the experience. I encourage you all to go to another location or have one of the many taco trucks and restaurants we have here in Austin.

The employees that take orders at this location and totally and completely incompetent. 5 times I've ordered from here and 5 times they've got my order wrong. It's not a difficult order either. I literally ask for one ingredient on the taco to be removed and instead of being taken off, the taco is often smothered in it. Absolutely ridiculous that this happens every time.

I'm really enjoying this new location. Its a convenient location so I can just pop in and grab a quick bite or drink. So far parking hasn't been an issue. We have been enjoying their covered patio. My dog enjoyed it too;) see pics!

I'm not gonna lie I've been in austin almost 13 years and when this Torchys opened it was the first for me. Since then we pop in every once and a while for lunch or dinner. Today was no different I got what I like the Airstream Salad with no protein and 86'd the avocado. This salad is so big and hearty, it will fill you up. It comes with romaine, arugula and picked mint(you can not remove) avocado, pico de gallo, grilled corn (MY FAVE), cities cheese, peppadew pepper & pistachios with chipotle sauce. Comes with a side of champagne vinaigrette (I rarely use). My daughter got the Trailer Park and I believe got a growth spurt because she demolished 2 of them in record time. Today there was a longer than usual wait time but that is expected with it being Saturday. I can't blame them for that and I won't. The gentleman who brought our our food however was great. Will we be back more than likely.

I've been back twice and both times were equally as disappointing as the first. At this point I take full responsibility for going back because Torchy's clearly has no interest in making improvements. Like my prior experiences, once again ordered a basic to go order only to get home and it was wrong again. On top of that, all I got was one item and had to wait almost 40 minutes!!! Everyone who came in behind me had already gotten their food. When I finally asked about it, it had just been sitting on the shelf in the back. Save yourself the frustration!!

The food is good. The service is good. But geeezzz, Fix y'all's website. Every time I order online, they are never ready at the set time from their website. And it's not like it's a few minutes behind. We're talking 15-30 mins back. Like c'mon

Great Texas styled tacos, fantastic queso and a friendly-fun staff! Enjoy your meal on the patio or inside, the staff brings your food and bar drinks. This is place is great for breakfast tacos, managing your hangover, work lunch breaks or just hanging with your friends.

I have never had a bad experience at torchys until tonight. The bartender ZOE paid no attention to my friend or me the two times we came in one day. We came in before going to get our nails done and she was not nice at all but honestly, she maybe you are tired, and I get it we all have things we outside of work, bartending is a hard job, but I still tipped even though she never came back to check on us at all, we had to call her. Apparently my money was not good enough which brings us to the next part of the story. We got our nails done and came back over to get some tacos and a drink. Zoe was not happy to see us, but all we ordered was two beers while we waited for our to go orders. She literally left to check on everyone else in the bar but us.I want to point out, we were the only two girls there there rest were men, clearly she wanted their tips more than ours. My friend told me we had already paid so we got up and left. As we were walking out, she came up to us told us we hadn't paid for the beers, we were incredibly apologetic, we both though we already paid (BECAUSE SHE NEVER CHECKED ON US) and then that's when we walked back in to pay and not only did she say " YOU TIPPED ME IN SACAGAWEA COINS, WHICH ARE FAKE" but the she proceeded to throw my tip from earlier in my face while saying: " Your Sacagawea coins are not real money" and honestly that struck a chord because guess what? IT IS REAL MONEY, but if you don't want it then don't have it, also as a past bartender/sever I NEVER yelled at anyone for not tipping me, they aren't obligated to. Also I was trying to give her cash because cash is better than credit card tips. I hope all the men in the bar tipped you well because you clearly didn't want my tip, or my friend's, that's why you never checked on us!! The manager heard the commotion and was really nice, but honestly Zoe cant handle working in the industry. So she should find a different job, non tip dependant because her service was awful yet we both still tipped her, but after her commotion she didn't deserve anything. IF YOU DON'T WANT MY MONEY ZOE THEN DONT HAVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This location sucks. Always messes up my food order. Bad management and customer service. This is 3rd or 4th time this has happened.

Honestly, this is an 5/5 for me and my experience. The location is great from my house and it's easy to sneak her for a quick bit and drinks after having a day out in SouthPark Meadow. I do enjoy the friendly staff and the bartenders. They always make sure I got everything I need. For ToGo Orders: Sometimes its a hit or miss when I get it delivered. They either forget the sauces or miss an item or two. So, I just go to pick up my order during my lunch breaks. Still a 5/5 overall experience for ME :)

Welcome to the 100th location of Torchy's! Some would say Torchy's is overrated (myself included, but this review is for the breakfast tacos). This location is spacious both inside and out, and they have a great dog-friendly patio space (heaters too for the cooler days). Living in South Austin, you miss the abundance of chain-Texas restaurants being available around the corner (P.Terry's, Torchy's, Whataburger, you know, the classics). So, Torchy's has been the local favorite. I always order the Migas, while my other half orders the Chorizo and Egg. Both entirely different (one is vegetarian, while the other is not), and both have been scrumptious and kick you in the face with happiness.

Okay this must be a joke. I came here for Mother's Day as my "special treat" and this is what I got. On top of that the thing was cold. There is nothing in here.
