Torchy's Tacos

LOUD! Torchy’s Tacos was so incredibly loud during our visit that we could not have a conversation because we couldn’t hear each other. We ended up switching our order from dine in to take out and ate in our car. Torchy’s should invest in some sound dampers to make the dining experience better for the customer. They were very full and seem like a popular place to eat. The food wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t great and it came out cold (we waited about 20 mins for our meal at our table). If you are looking for authentic Mexican street tacos, this place is not what you’re looking for. We ordered steak burritos, chicken burritos and a steak fajita taco. A couple of bright spots were the flour tortillas, they tasted fresh and they were very good. I also really liked the salsa, especially the tomatillo salsa. It was very good. The staff was friendly and helpful.

Baja shrimp, steak fajita, Trailer Park trashy tacos & The Big Tipsy Bowl are DELICIOUS!!! This place is so tasty, highly recommend

These aren't just any tacos! These are Damn Good Tacos with Damn Good service. 👍 I had four delicious tacos at reasonable prices. I tried the Democrat, which had a very meaty and satisfying flavor. The Baja Shrimp taco tasted of the sea, sprinkled with cheese and lettuces. I also had the Tipsy Chicken, which was good, but I wished it had a bit more kick and flavor though I'm not complaining. Lastly, the Republican taco had a very smoky, rich, and meaty flavor. My compliments to the chef! If you want something different from Taco Bell, look no further than the Best Damn Good Tacos around. I give it two foodie thumbs up!

From the moment we walked in, the vibe was amazing, the restaurant was very clean, and the atmosphere felt welcoming and fun. The customer service was truly 10/10. Every employee was friendly and helpful, but a special shoutout to Alex — he was attentive, knowledgeable, kind, and made sure we had an excellent experience from start to finish. This location doesn’t just serve tacos — we ordered a little bit of everything, including tacos, burritos, churros, and street corn, and everything was absolutely delicious. The food was fresh, flavorful, and the sauces were incredible — packed with flavor and perfectly paired with each dish. Service was also fast, which we really appreciated. My boyfriend and I love traveling around the DMV trying different restaurants on our days off, and this location definitely earns a 10/10 from us. Amazing food, outstanding service, and a great overall experience. We will absolutely be back and highly recommend it! 🌮🔥

Went there for lunch with my husband. They had an awesome deal going for 6 street tacos, rice, beans, and 2 drinks for $20. Such a great deal! All the staff were really kind, especially Samuel! He was really funny and checked with us to ensure our meal was perfect. It was such a great touch! Would recommend coming here for the food and vibes :)

First visit to Torchy Tacos food was delecious.I had few chicken and veg Tacos. I ordered spicy Chicken tacos which were good and veg tacos not spicy. Service was quick and friendly.This is a fast causual restaurant a food chain from Texas. They also have a full bar, will surely be back soon .

Torchy's Tacos is a casual, quick service meal restaurant. You order your meal at the register, but then a server brings the food to your table. The food was just okay. I will say that it was prepared fine and the portions of protein were hearty, but we found everything to be pretty bland and average tasting. It was incredibly packed with people at 5:15PM on a Sunday. We were impressed with how quickly they brought out our food, so the service was good. The atmosphere is loud, crowded, and stressful. It was difficult to find a place to sit and it was so loud due to all of the people packed in that it was borderline painful. I do not plan to return.

Love torchys and glad we finally got to try the Rockville location. Their green chile queso is amazing and I love the tipsy chick and trailer park trashy tacos. Service was great and our food came out quickly. It’s a nice space and convenient for parking as well.

After trying many samples at the different food festivals I finally visited the brick and mortar store. It was nice, not too noisy, with a lot of room, and it was clean. I got three tacos, and it was a lot more than I expected. Flavor was there and the colors made it a feast for my eyes as well as my belly. I was unable to finish all three tacos but I and happy to have tasted them all. I can say my favorite was the Steak Fajitas. I just liked the overall flavor profile. I can not wait to try the others. Overall the service was quick and efficient. It took a little time that time tells me it was made to order so I am not upset. Money well spent in my opinion. I hope you give them a try.

Salad at Torchy's Sunny Sunday In the mood for something different, I stopped at the taco place for what I thought was tacos but instead I got the Moon tower salad with shrimp, one of their salad bowl offering. You can request grilled or fried shrimp. I opted for a modified bowl, without cheese nor beans as my stomach is sensitive to both. It had ample shrimp, lettuce, and vegetables with a tasty dressing. It was very tasty and fresh tasting with a hint of mint. I loved it, The price was around $16, which is now an average price. I definitely want to return and try the other salads, to enjoy their tacos and drinks.

I stopped by this Torchy's Tacos to get a quick taco or two and an ice cold margarita to beat the hot weather. Overall, I thought the food and service at the bar were absolutely wonderful. For my dining pleasure, I went with the Trailer Park and the CrossRoads tacos. To be honest, I just randomly selected those two tacos with no rhyme or reason. However, I was quite pleased with leaving my taco selections to chance. The Trailer Park taco came with fried chicken, green chiles, pico de gallo, and mixed cheese. The Crossroads came with smoked beef brisket, onions, jalapeños, an avocado slice, cheese, and a tomatillo (I think) sauce. With the exception of removing the cheese, I would not have changed a single thing about the two tacos. To be honest, I did not read the full list of ingredients, but I'll know to request no cheese for my next visit(s). I thought the sizes of the tacos were pretty generous for the $5.50-6.25 price tag. Regarding the margarita, it had a perfect mix of booze, tart and sweet. Since I tend to drive through this area on a frequent basis, I look forward to trying more of Torchy's delicious tacos.

Everything that I had here was excellent. Both tacos and the corn side dish, This place is packed for a reason. Highly recommended!

I needed to pick up a bread order from Great Harvest, and what a better way to spend a late lunch than Torchy's Tacos! I loved the small portion of guacamole. It's just the right size. Way too many chips, but that's not a complaint! I took most home as they have a self service counter with bowls , aluminum foil, and bags for your left overs. My Baja shrimp taco was perfectly filling with the accompanying guacamole. I ordered it without the jalapeños because last time I was here the peppers made me choke up a bit. Instead, they gave it to me without the pickled onions. Oh, well. It was still delicious. They don't skimp on the shrimp. There were five flavorful shrimp in my damn good taco! This summer when I'm off, I'll be by for happy hour when their tacos are $1.00 off.

I first went to Torchy's for a Yelp event and I knew I was going to bring my friends for happy hour soon and what better time than Cinco de Mayo to grab a couple of margaritas! Bright and vibrant decor, the vibes were right and many people had the same idea as me because the place was packed! The tacos are a good size and well stuffed! I tried the Trailer Park, Brushfire, and the Democrat tacos. The Democrat was my least favorite and felt a bit mushy and lacked texture, but the other two had really nice flavors and texture! Everyone in my group enjoyed their tacos and drinks. I had the Strawberry Margarita Swirl and it was refreshing. The guacamole was a bit disappointing though, needed some tomatoes and lime! The best part was actually the service! Although you pay first and seat yourself, the staff do bring the food to you and clear the tables. There were many staff, but our main "server" took my order at the register, delivered some of the food, asked if we wanted more chips - he was like a one man show and gave great energy! The downside of this concept is that we were too lazy to line up again to order another drink or leave a bigger tip since it was prepaid upfront. Didn't get his name, but shout out to the guy with the black glasses who was moving nonstop!!

It's the queso for me!! Damn good!! I hadn't heard of Torchy's until a recent Yelp event where we were treated to the award winning queso. Apparently Torchy's is very popular popular in Texas. I told a co-worker who loves Torchy's so much that he was willing to drive an hour to get here. He had a great time and couldn't thank me enough for letting him know it was here! A few days ago I was nearby and met a few others here. We sat at the bar and on a Tuesday it was busy but not overwhelming. Service was good. Thank you Bridget! I got a frozen passionfruit margarita - very good! I got the half size of the green chile queso with chips and a brushfire taco. Yummy! I'll be back again soon!

I don't know if I came on a bad day and ordered the wrong things but all my tacos, except the Baja shrimp was SALTYYY. Also decided to give the steak fajita taco another try and still not good. The threesome (guac, queso and salsa dip) was off as well. The guac had too much lime flavor and so did the queso for some reason. The only good on was the spicy red salsa.

I attended the Yelp Elite event here and it was a great experience! I had the Baja shrimp taco, Mr. Orange taco, and the queso with chips. Everything was delicious! I really liked the queso. We also got Margarita samples- loved that they weren't super sweet. Perfect amount of tartness and sweetness. The restaurant is rather large. I received my food after about 10 minutes. I will come back next time I'm in the area!

Torchy's is great! I brought my husband here after having tried their tacos at a location in Denver, and the vibes here in Rockville did not disappoint. The food was so delicious and fresh, and they were having a trivia night--while we didn't participate, just hearing how much fun everyone was having made our night even better. Even though the restaurant was busy, our waiters were so attentive and our food came out fast--very little wait time and everything came out together. Overall, great food, kind and fun service, and fun vibes for a casual night out = )

Torchy's is a cute taco hang out. You order at the counter, so staff interaction is minimal. I got two of the veggie tacos, and they were fine. They weren't exactly anything to write home about, but they had enough flavor to be pretty good. I also appreciate any place that has more than one vegetarian option.

Came here with my husband and daughter on a Friday night, no wait. It feels a little overwhelming to make a quick decision at the counter. I should have taken more pics but we ordered some of the same items as last time, like the democrat and chicken fajita tacos. The democrats had a bit of inedible fat but overall tasted good. I tried the green chile pork and it was pretty good, husband had the hogfather (really good), he also had a special (holy diver I think) he said it was excellent. We signed up for the app/rewards ahead of time and got a free order of chips and queso (delicious). Our daughter ordered to beef tacos (from kids menu) and didn't love them but that's because I think she was expecting regular ground beef, they were steak and I personally thought they were very good. For reference, I'm a big eater, I ordered two corn tacos and a flour taco but since we had a full order of chips and queso, I took the chicken fajita taco to go because it was a lot. Also, the manager, Matt stopped by our table to ask how we were doing, which was nice. He even offered up more chips ... I guess he noticed we had devoured the first batch. It wasn't chilly this time and the place is cute enough for families, while having the little bar for those that prefer it.

We had Torchy's for the first time in Austin a few years ago, so we were amazed that they decided on Rockville, MD as one of their newest locations! We stopped by on a Sunday afternoon around 1 pm, and the place was packed. We had a field day with the Damn Good Tacos (we ordered 5), and a side of queso, and rice and beans combo. For the 2 of us I thought it was a good amount. Trailer Park: Honestly my favorite of the 5 but kinda hesitant to say that because it was more like a fried chicken lettuce wrap than a taco you'd order at a Tex Mex joint. The fried chicken was SO MOIST I was a little surprised. Democrat: My next favorite. The beef was SO TENDER yet again and you really get a full mouthful of meat with every bite on this one. Republican/The Hogfather: These were okay, PERSONALLY just not a fan of barbecue sauce/sweet sauces in my tacos. Also didn't love the crispy onions, but that's just me. The Swinger (December special): Pork was cooked to perfection yet again, only comment was that the pieces of pineapple could've been a tad smaller. Wish I got it on a flour instead of the default corn. Hillbilly Queso and Rice and Beans combo: Lots of positive reviews about their queso - we enjoyed it but would've liked mine a TAD thicker. They sure give a LOT of chips with their queso. David liked the rice and beans a lot but I thought it was just average. Overall they do really such a good job on their meats, regardless of what you think about the toppings. Everything was incredibly tender and juicy. Took off 1 star because it took a while to get our food - the table next to us ordered right before us and after they were served at least a good 4-5 other parties got their food even the ones who came after. And by the time we got our food it cold. Would come back and try their burrito and/or bowl!

We've been Torchy's fans for many years in Austin, Texas and we're thrilled to be able to find them in Maryland! Between my family and I, we had tacos, kids quesadilla, tater tots, chips, guacamole and queso. Although mostly good, it could have been better. What I will say is that the restaurant and restroom were very clean and comfortable, and the service was top notch, these ladies were very caring of their customers and treated us great.

When it comes to BBQ and Tacos, Texas reigns supreme. Through my many visits to Austin, I discovered Torchy's- a local chain that started with a food truck and is now expanding nationwide. I was thrilled to see they landed in the DMV (although I wish they were a bit closer to DC and NoVA.) I braved the drive on the beltway on a recent Sunday afternoon to see if it was as good as I remembered. It was busy, but I had plenty of seats among the tables or at the bar. My order came out quickly without any problems. For this meal, I went bi-partisan: Democrat: The combination of the barbacoa and avocado made for a rich, savory experience. Republican: I preferred the balance of this one more: the smoky beef brisket and chipotle sauce combined with the tang of the corn relish and crunch of crispy onions. The tacos are a good size, two was enough for my hungry appetite. The Hillbilly Queso was the highlight of the meal: it takes Torchy's green chile queso and adds in chorizo. It has the right amount of kick and spice that takes this cheese sauce to the next level. Overall I'm glad Torchy's is in the area and their food reminded me of all the SXSW trips I've taken over the years. I only wish they were a bit closer to where I live. Hopefully, the success of this location could lead to even further expansion into the area.

Good but not as good as I remember from when I first had them in Austin, TX about 10 years ago! It's amazing how they have expanded and now there is a location in MD. I highly recommend their chips and queso. I really enjoyed the republican taco with the tender smoked beef brisket and crispy onions. The wrangler was good too with the hardy eggs, crispy potatoes, and cheese. Service was friendly and excellent. Still good tacos and being in there brings back memories of the old Ruby Tuesdays.

Friends from Texas told me all about this and one even lived above one at SMU. I finally was out in the area for lunch time and tried it out. I ordered three tacos that were very filling. One was a jerk chicken one whose spice and their staff warned me was very spicy. The ambiance is nice too, I sat at the bar even though I only had a diet soda to drink. I look forward to coming back with my wife to try more of their amazing tacos.

Good solid fast TexMex! Queso is so good and they have some really different taco options. I went for veggie and steak fajita, both were delicious. The tacos are huge, the size of a hand! Super clean on the inside. This will be my go to casual Mexican from now on.

The minute that signage went up outside, I was ready to go! I love Torchy's! Whenever I go to visit family in Houston, at least one trip to Torchy's is a must. I finally made it a few weeks ago, and liked the clean, bright space. The servers were everywhere - taking orders, bringing out food, cleaning up, and answering questions. I was sad that my favorite taco, the Tipsy Chick, was unavailable. The bacon bourbon marmalade is delicious! However, it gave me the opportunity to try something new - the Trailer Park. It was pretty damn good. But my dad got the Hogfather, which was even more exciting - dude, pork and more pork! I'm getting that next time. We also got the Baja shrimp, which is always excellent. Also, the queso is outstanding. Skip the guac and salsa (which are fine, btw) and just dive headfirst into the queso. The only complaint I'd have in these early days is that there was way too much cilantro garnish on everything. The queso had so much that it looked there was a salad on top.

Hey friends! I came here for my god brother's memorial lunch. This is a fast causal spot serving Mexican cuisine. I ordered the Chicken Grande Burrito($8) and a house margarita($9). The burrito was okay, nothing to rave about. The margarita was strong! The interior has many dine-in tables. Orders are placed at the counter and bar and brought to your table. Service was friendly. Although, they brought out my order incorrectly. It was fixed but they didn't let us keep the incorrect order. What's the point of taking it back if it's going in the trash? Def annoyed about that. Torchy's really does have some damn good tacos! The first taco I tried was the brushfire which is a Jamaican jerk chicken style taco with mangos and other toppings. Nice and spicy! The second taco I had was the crossroads taco which consisted of smoked beef brisket and toppings. So much flavor and the jalapeños kicks the flavor up a notch. The food came out in a timely manner. We sat at the bar and the bartender was very nice but he had to man the bar and walk in orders at the cash register which kept him running around. The bartender should be manning the bar and that's it. The place is clean and casual. You can order online or have a seat and enjoy your meal. Decent parking.

A relatively new taco restaurant on Rockville Pike. HH Monday-Friday 3-6pm ($1 off tacos and $1.5 to 2 off drinks). Taco meat and toppings were plentiful, good large sized tacos. We ordered: Democrat 3/5 Steak Fajita 3/5 (topped with shredded cheese, wish it was melted) Grilled Baja shrimp 5/5

Menu is a bit confusing. All the fires makes it seem everything is spicy only to be told that one fire icon is considered mild. Whew. But wait! Not true. Apparently still slightly spicy. "So can't bring my kids, then," I said to the lady behind the counter. "Oh, but there is a kids menu," she promptly whipped it out and yet zero mention of this on their massive menu board on display behind the register. So that was confusing. Ordered my food and was also told, "but wait...we can also adjust the spiciness!" Now I am just surprised and confused on their lack of communication. They should START there. Many of us have kids or people in our families who do not eat spicy food. Anyhow, besides that, place has the feel of a bar, with lots of loud noise, actual bar with lots of drinks to offer, tvs everywhere and hard wooden and metal chairs. No booths so keep that in mind. I escaped to the patio for a somewhat calmer environment. They have picnic like tables there. Service was prompt. Food was good though served not on platters but little metal trays or small containers making it a bit awkward to manage. One edit as I left I noticed pets are welcome. So no now raises them to 5 stars!!!

Each and every time we order here our order is incorrect or things are missing. Very disappointing.

Probably 4 stars overall, but a boost because finding good tacos in DC can be hit and miss and for the nostalgia I get from having lived in Austin for 3 years and getting to relive that closer to home. Torchy's tacos is an Austin landmark. This outpost is very close to the feel of the originals. It's going quirky interior decorations and the same order at the counters and sit down to have baskets or trays of over-stuffed tacos delivered to you feel. The actual tacos aren't quite as good as I remember them being in Austin, but part of that is probably the overly-rosy, nostalgic memories I have of them in Austin. Still, as I said when I first came here: "fried avocado taco" is a phrase that gets better with every word. Actually, the fried avocado taco is my wife's favorite and other than the gimmick, I prefer other tacos. My favorite is the super-spice brush fire which comes with thinly sliced, grilled chicken and diablo (habanero) sauce. I also like the chicken fajita and crossroads, but not as much as the brush fire. The crossroads (smoked brisket) taco seemed to survive the move from Texas the least well, which I guess makes sense. My kids each got the fried chicken tacos (just a chicken tender and shredded cheese on a tortilla). My daughter ate all the cheese and my son ate all the chicken tenders. Neither of them ate any of the tortillas. I'm a bit embarrassed about that, but at least they were happy and ate something. They liked the kids menus with crayons and chips too. Get the queso. It's worth it with a dollop of guacamole and a strip of diablo sauce in it.

I lived in Austin, TX for 7 years and Torchy's is a staple in the city. I could not believe my luck that they opened a location in Rockville, MD. As soon as I opened the pitchfork handled doors to this business, I felt I was transported back to Austin. The only difference between this location and Austin is they actually have a fully vegan taco on the menu! I ordered a Shiner Bock beer, guac with no cheese, and 3 Fo Sho (vegan) tacos. I did not realize how much I missed Shiner Bock. I sipped on this beer while waiting for my food and truly felt like I was in Texas again. This restaurant was PACKED yet the line moved quickly, and the food also came out sooner than I expected. The guacamole and chips had the perfect ratio of chips to guacamole. I also loved how creamy and flavorful the guacamole was. It is the perfect representation of TexMex cuisine. Torchy's only has one vegan taco on their menu but honestly this taco is so good I don't need another option. It has every veggie I could have ever hoped or dreamed of in my taco. You get to have a sauce on the side with it as well as a lime wedge. That helped enhance the flavor and remind me how tacos should taste. Hands down, the best vegan tacos I have had since moving to Maryland. I am so thankful this location exists so I can once again enjoy TexMex. I do hope Torchy's improves their breakfast menu for vegans. If they had a tofu scramble to add to breakfast tacos I would visit much more often. As of now, I do look forward to being a regular customer at their dinner hour and rejoicing in the taste of Texas in Rockville.

These tacos are huge! One taco is like two or three regular tacos at other places. I really enjoyed the Republican taco, the crispy onions really made this taco and the beef brisket was well seasoned. Steak fajitas were also good, steak was very tender. Don't forget to order their chips and queso. I was quite impressed with them. Service is so friendly. I like how they bring the food to your table, so don't forget to leave a tip. Can't wait to try their other tacos and side dishes.

Came in before the happy hour rush on a Margarita Friday. Ordered a lot to try the beef options and glad I did. Everything was great and seasoned well. I didn't need to ask for hot sauce. Normally, it's a thing I do at TexMex places such as Chipotle, Cal Tor, Qdoba, etc... I was helped from staff at the bar who was friendly, the rest of the staff is new as they had just opened and the manager on duty was helping them out with orders and organizing tables. The wait staff sort of gave my food a tour around the restaurant as they couldn't believe I ordered so much. Torchy's has a lot of hype and for good reasons. Orders were taking up space on the delivery cubby and there was a solid line starting to form for happy hour. Better vibes than their competition mentioned above. Brought a bunch of left overs home and it all tasted good. The family approved. I may order far delivery on Uber eats since the food kept well. Luke warm Torchy's was still really good. 5/5stars

Amazing food, amazing service, classic Torchy's decor. I used to go to the Torchy's in Texas and while no food is like Texas food, Torchy's is a nice reminder of my time there. I'm really glad they opened a restaurant here. This was my second time since they opened and I can confidently say they don't disappoint. The first time I tried the democrat and the mr. Orange. I loved the mr. Orange more. This time around I tried the republican, the bushfire, Mr. Orange again, and their churros! Each item was AMAZINGG. The churros was amazing especially the dulce de leche dipping sauce it came it. 100/10 would recommend!!! You can order to-go, dine in at the bar, or sit down. They have daily drink specials and hh from 3-6 Monday - Friday. They also have monthly taco specials to check out.

As a girl who used to live in Texas I was super excited to see a torchys open up. This place has some unique and tasty taco combinations. The democrat and green chile are always my go to! This place was crowded though so sit at the bar for quicker service!

I picked up a large group order last night and everything was delicious as always! Ordering was super easy on the website and I was able to login and get points from my order too! It was ready when it said it would be ready on a designated pick up counter. I got the democrat and green chili pork tacos, along with steak fajita, brushfire, and trailer park for the group. I've had the democrat before and thought it was good, but this was my first time having Torchy's Green Chili Pork (I've had other gcp tacos elsewhere so I knew what to expect). The meat was cooked well, and they threw in a designated sauce for each taco, along with a bunch of lime wedges. The lime on the GCP was exactly what it needed to POP. I will continue to come back to Torchy's.

This review is for carry-out chips and queso. I stopped in to try just a bit of Torchy's and am so looking forward to ordering more food in the future. Based on the customer service experience, decor, and the chips and queso I ordered as carry-out, Torchy's is doing an excellent job! I received a bag full of chips for this half-order and a container of queso. The queso definitely did not last (and I had a ton of chips left over). The queso was cheesy, flavorful, and spicy! I did find some relief from the spice in the avocado that was inside of the queso. It helped the queso become much more mild. The chips were light, fresh, and crunchy! There is plenty of seating inside and on the patio outside the restaurant. There is ample, free parking in the shopping complex as well.

Ive had torchy's before in Houston and in Austin, one of my all time favorite taco spots. The Rockville location is popping, huge crowd on a sunday evening and a line that goes out the door and another 10 feet of people. We ordered the grande burrito, chicken fajita taco, democrat taco and the hogfather tacos and chips and queso. The hogfather was the best item we ordered, it was green chile pork with teriyaki sauce, onion straws corn and some other things. The burrito and chicken fajita taco were both very good, great grilled flavor on the chicken. The democrat taco wasnt great, the barbacoa was kind of bland. Service was really good, food came out quick despite the huge crowd. Theyve only been open for 2 weeks, i expect the barbacoa to be better next time.

Came here to eat with some friends and had the best time. The food was amazing and the service was excellent. Alex took care of us and made sure everything was outstanding.

Torchy's Tacos is located off of Rockville Pike in the same plaza as Trader Joes, World Market and Micro Center. The parking lot is huge and shared with many different retailers in the plaza. I have not been able to dine inside of the restaurant so my review is based on takeout. I like the variety of tacos and sides on the menu. My go to order is now: - Baja Shrimp Taco - Flavorful taco that comes with Fried Shrimp, Cooked Cabbage Slaw, Pickled Onions & Jalapenos, Cotija Cheese, Cilantro, Lime and Chipotle Sauce. Decent ratio of shrimp to taco and the level of spice was enjoyable and not overwhelming. - Street Corn - This comes with Corn of course, topped with Anco Aioli, Cotija Cheese, Cilantro and Red Chili Powder. This is jam packed with flavor and a great complimentary side to any taco on the menu in my opinion. I always order this and the quality and flavor have been deliciously consistent the past 10+ times. - Hillbilly Queso & Chips - Green Chile Queso and Chorizo with lots and lots of Tortilla Chips. Another delicious side that would go great with any of the tacos on the menu. Overall, this spot has been my go to when craving tacos. I hope to find some time soon to dine at the restaurant as I am sure the menu is even tastier fresh and not boxed up as takeout. In the meantime, takeout from here is still delicious and I will be ordering again soon :)

Did we go overboard on the tacos? You decide...1 Naughty Santa, 1 Matador, 2 Trailer Park Trashy, 2 Green Chile Pork, 2 Baja Shrimp, 1 Crossroads, 1 Mr. Orange, 1 Democrat, 1 Tipsy Chick, 2 Republican, 1 Hogfather, and 1 Salmon + churros + chips and queso. We started in line outside for a bit, and then inside leading up to the order counter along with many eager-to-get-taste-of-Texas Marylanders. Despite the wait and only one person at the register, it didn't take long for us to lay down our list of tacos, churros, and chips. Again, despite the massive order, everything arrived in a considerably quick and dramatic fashion. Three people came to deliver all the tacos! First, I'll always recommend chips and queso. I only had two of the above tacos - the Republican and Green Chile Pork - and I recommend both. Just remember that these tacos are larger and more filling than your taqueria tacos. I also recommend the churros if you're feeling something sweet. As for my friends, they finished almost everything and took three tacos home. Large indoor seating and bar area, plus outdoor seating. You can even watch sports games here. I was there for the Commanders' Hail Mary win so that was very exciting.

When I first visited Austin, Texas, I knew I had to try some Tex-Mex food. Torchy's Tacos was a local chain that started there, and was highly recommended. So when I heard they were bringing one to Maryland of all states, I got hyped~ I love to see more solid taco spots around the DMV! Here's all that we got: Queso & Chips Mr. Orange Taco Trailer Park Taco Tipsy Chick Taco Fried Avocado Taco Breakfast Burrito Tito's Cherry Limeade My favorite was the Mr. Orange for the blackened salmon! The quality of the ingredients in their tacos is always on point. The queso was a bit one-note in my opinion and didn't really wow me, and the drinks were also just alright. But overall, still a solid spot for quick and easy tacos. Another welcome addition to Rockville, the town's been popping off lately with new restaurants!

Luke from corporate has great energy. This place is busy and Ordered online and it said the wait was 2 hours! The place is busy. Really glad I didn't walk in and try to order. A few people were waiting and looked pained. The tacos were alright. I tried 2 w salmon and 1 w shrimp and sausage. What was good and memorable were the chips and guacamole and the queso and salsa. The queso has a nice kick and flavor without being overly spicy.

Y'all, let me tell you about my love affair with Torchy's Tacos! It all started back in Houston, TX, where I fell head over heels for those tacos. So imagine my pure excitement when I found out they opened one in Rockville, MD--about 40 minutes from my home. Naturally, bae and I had to make the trip, and well... it was an adventure. First off, the parking? Blessed--ample spots since it's in a shopping center. But when we arrived, the line was out the door. No worries, though--we spotted the bar, and it's full service. Perfect! Or so we thought. We sat there waiting, and waiting, while Alyssa, the bartender, looked right at us multiple times but never even said hello. After staring at each other awkwardly, I waved down the manager, Sam, to ask, "Hey, what's the process here? Do we need to stand in line or is this full service?" He was super nice and said they were switching staff and we'd be helped shortly. But let me tell you, Alyssa wasn't in that meeting--she was making drinks like nothing was happening! Eventually, Andres came to our rescue, and I ordered the frozen margarita--passionfruit with wildberry, aka my ticket to the beach. PSA: it's strong, so proceed with caution, folks! Now let's talk food. I ordered the Tipsy Chick and the Trailer Park, while bae went for the Bushfire and The Democrat. Then things got a little weird. A couple came in after us and Alyssa was ALL over them--immediate service and everything. Mind you, we're Black, they were white. Hmm... Alyssa, we see you. But back to the food! My tacos came out so fast they must've been delivered by Sonic himself. Each taco was fully loaded--like, overloaded. You pick it up, stuff's falling out. We love that. But then... oops! I was given the wrong taco (the Hog Father, not mad about it though--delicious). The server came over to apologize and said the right taco would be out soon, and it was on the house. Let me just say, the Tipsy Chick was my MVP--so good I almost forgot about the service drama. Bae said the Bushfire was spicy but great, while The Democrat had too much fat on the barbacoa for his liking. Not his fave. Sam, the manager, was the real hero though, checking on us and making sure everything was running smoothly. Mentioned to him the tacos were as good as the ones I had in Houston. Bae was still hungry after his tacos (typical), so he ordered the green chile queso--half-size, but it came out fast and was chef's kiss with the Diablo sauce for that extra kick. I was too full for the street corn, but that's definitely on my list for next time. Final total? $41.78 for all that food--super reasonable for the area, especially with portions that big. But here's the thing: customer service is everything to me. The tip goes to the bartenders, so both Andres and Alyssa were sharing. And let's be real--Alyssa wasn't exactly tip-worthy, but Andres was a pleasure. Alyssa, girl... do better. Overall, the food slapped, the drinks were dangerous (in the best way), and Sam was a rockstar. But if you head to this Torchy's, just hope Alyssa's not working. My husband, a native Texan, was super excited when he found out a Torchy's was making its way up here. We were super excited to give it a try. We decided to order takeout so this is our takeout review. I have to say, I'm not sure if it was because we were all hyped up, or maybe it was the food, but we weren't terribly impressed. I was super excited to try the elote because that was something his aunt and I would always share, but this one just didn't taste great. The corn was soggy, almost felt like it was old and reheated, and the flavors just didn't work. It wasn't quite what I remembered. Their tacos were huge, but were also missing something. I couldn't quite put my finger on it, but it didn't wow me. There were also huge chunks of avocado in it that kind of neutralized whatever flavors were already there. Their queso is a must. A MUST I tell you. Their chips are nicely salted and crunchy and fresh, so they go amazingly with the queso. The queso has a nice salty, smoky flavor with a hint of what I think is green chilis with every bite. It's great! I also ordered a burrito and it was tasty as well. The fajita steak in it was juicy, flavorful, and had a kick. The rice was deliciously seasoned, and the tortilla was soft and fresh. It was weird how something hit, and others missed. I always like to give a place more than one try, so we'll definitely be trying Torchy's again.

I had the opportunity to go to the grand opening of this Torchy's in Rockville yesterday and it was well worth the hour+ wait to get in the building. As an avid fan of Torchys I knew I was going to like the food, but was pleasantly surprised by how heavy the tacos were loaded and how incredibly fresh everything tasted. The new Baja Salmon taco was an instant hit for me, the salmon perfectly cooked and balanced with the corn, avocado, and cooked cabbage slaw flavors. The wrangler is a breakfast staple and even though we weren't in Texas, the brisket melted with every bite. Torchy's queso is in a class of its own, if I had gotten to the store a little earlier I might've been able to get the opening day "free queso for a year", but I was happy to pay for such a tasty treat. The staff were all incredibly friendly, the restaurant was clean and comfortable, and the general vibe was exactly what anyone wants from a trip to Torchy's.

Came here with a few friends on a Wednesday night but since it was the grand opening, there was a long line that I'd imagine would subside over time. This is located in a shopping center with ample free parking. A little differently from your usual server restaurant experience; once we got in, they took our order at the front before we found a seat then brought our order to our table. All the staff & managers here were very nice and helpful. We had some tacos and apps that were all quite delicious. My favorite was Mr.Orange taco with the blackened salmon. Prices felt a bit on the higher side for tacos but the tacos itself were bigger so it was worth it! Inside the place felt more casual and fast paced. Would definitely come again!

Came here for their soft opening, and everything was as expected - delicious! We got the trio appetizer, and grilled steak burritos. Appetizer comes with three dips. The green tomatillo salsa is super flavorful, the spicy queso packed a very nice punch, and the guacamole is good too. The grilled steak is really tender, and I personally prefer the use of refried pinto beans. The tortilla itself is super fluffy and has a great chew to it. The place itself has plenty of seating. Price point is fair. Can't wait to come back again!

Came here one day and ordered the Baja grilled shrimp tacos and tater tots. The staff here were pretty welcoming. The tater tots were pretty good but the tacos were not. They looked and tasted bland and not presentable. I also didn't realize it was only one taco so there's that.

I can to Torchy's last month for a Yelp event and enjoyed the food so my girls and I decided to come back for queso, tacos, and margaritas. We sat at the bar and Bridget was our server, she was patient with me waiting until my friends arrive to order and made sure we had everything we needed. The restaurant wasn't too busy so it was easy for us to enjoy each other's company and laugh. Being as though I don't live close by I was glad I was able to comeback and enjoy the food and drinks again!

My first time here and I was skeptical but the tacos were so good. We had seven tacos and tried 6 different ones. They were all so good. My top two were the Baja shrimp and democrat. Honorary mention to trailer park and I don't usually get chicken tacos much less fried chicken tacos. The drinks were also so good and perfectly strong. We sat outside. It's been so cold so I wasn't too excited to sit outside but inside was packed. However, they have heating lamps and I was not cold at all so it was nice. The server was also so cute and friendly. I would come here again to try the other tacos and drinks.
