Where to Get Great Vegan and Vegetarian Food in Minneapolis and St. Paul

"Vegan ramen isn’t an afterthought at Tori 44. The spicy miso, loaded with mushrooms, curry veggies, nori, and chile oil, is the restaurant’s vegan calling card — but five other ramens on the menu can be made vegetarian or vegan. The crispy fried kimchi is a must." - Justine Jones, Eater Staff

FYI: Parking in the lot around the restaurant was plentiful but there were no visible lines for spots. We dined in for lunch. There was no wait to be seated. To order you have to scan the QR code they have at the table. I had wanted to try this place out after reading some nice reviews about the food, but to be honest, I had mixed feelings about my experience. Approaching and entering the restaurant, I will be honest, I was a little concerned as the building and seating was quite run down. The waitress was nice and told us how to order via the given link but was a bit absent after that initial conversation. We ended up ordering the Yukayaki (vegan version), Honey Gochu Chicken wings, Salted duck ramen and "Show you" ramen. I was excited to try the Yukayaki based on the description and it wasn't bad. The sauce that came with it (a mango and sweet soy sauce mixture) was a little sour for my taste, but the Yukayaki itself was nice and hot and reminded me of what takoyaki would taste like (minus the octopus and something more similar to a potato texture). We ordered the Honey Gochu Chicken wings because it sounded interesting and hear good things about it, but it was a little disappointing. They were slightly crispy but all the sauce made it a little soggy. Flavor-wise, I feel it was definitely missing something. The gochujang and honey were coming through on the outside, but the chicken itself tasted very plain even with all that sauce... which was confusing to me. As for the ramens we ordered, the broths both tasted good, but were a little oily for my taste. The salted duck had a slightly sweet, yet savory broth and the "show you" was salty and savory. I will say I did enjoy the additional ingredients included in the salted duck ramen, particularly the veggies. I think they paired really well with the broth, duck, and the noodles. The noodles were also nice and chewy and surprisingly didn't get super soggy even after I ate some hours later ( I couldn't finish it and took the rest home).

Google
They had a lot of options for different diet types. The broth we got was chicken. The noodles were a bit thick and tasty. The chicken meat was super tender. Serving size was large, as normal be with ramen. My husband and I split a bowl and the be accommodated us. They had great decor, good music, friendly staff. Food was tasty. Really happy we came here.

Google
Really enjoy their ramen so we came here on Easter. They expanded their menu so we decided to try some new things. My husband had the biscuit and gravy from their brunch menu and loved it. I had the duck leg rice bowl and it was way better than expected. The sauce was phenomenal! Service was also very good. The server gave us a free tea egg since it was Easter!

Google
A delicious ramen joint with broth to die for! Their ramen broth is so rich and creamy with loads of umami. The duck ramen and korean wings were incredible. Great atmosphere with very friendly and attentive staff. Lots of dishes are available vegetarian or gluten free. Ordering is all online, you open a tab for your table, making it super easy to customize dishes. Definitely coming back.

Google
Great flavor with a few gripes. I got the Bali Bali. Everything tastes great flavor wise, perfectly cooked soft egg, but there was maybe a single tablespoon of the chicken and the food was ice cold. I did get it to go, but my drive was only 3 min. It was also served in bare recycled paper bowl, no coating even so it kinda felt like eating cold soup off a thick paper towel, which disintegrated during the meal. The servers were very sweet. Although I got the impression the service may be on the slower side given it took about 35-40min for my order of a single dish with only 1 couple in the restaurant (who knows if they’re mostly doing take out but it was only 5pm). Seems like a fun place for a date, but with the small portions and high price tag maybe not a regular joint, at least for me. The hungry & price conscious might come away underwhelmed but for those in search of well executed flavors it’s definitely worth a trip.

Google
We were disappointed to discover they no longer served alcohol or beer and wine. The server thought maybe it would be back after summer. It didn’t seem very clean in the restaurant and there were several flies buzzing around. I love having a restaurant within walking distance from my house so I hope things improve and they can stay open. The food was very good as always so I will be back for sure! Can’t beat the fried kimchi!

Google
I went here for my birthday and was so impressed! This is a great place for vegan eats. My partner and I each got ramen, but also shared the Agedashi Tofu rice bowl. The Agedashi Tofu was my favorite, I'm so glad we got it! It was so crispy on the outside, while to tofu on the inside was so incredibly silky. I got the Show You and my partner got That's a Spicy Miso. I tried both and they were so yummy. They made it so easy to order everything vegan! You can also choose to leave out chili oil in the spicy ramen if you have a lower tolerance. They also had great sake cocktails and flights.

Took our grandson for lunch. New experience of ordering from phone at table and paying before eating. The three dishes we got were delicious but, seemed on expensive side! For three of us it was over $60 without any drinks or dessert. Surprise pic of Prince in one of the bathrooms. Went back 10/30/22 with son & family. Great Bloodly Mary. Had a Tea Egg...& Their shrimp pancake entree. Grandson loves the place. Music was only thing that could be on a lower volume. Unique murals outside.

Yelp
Great place as usual, love their ramens, love their ambiance. Kordeeuh keeps changing in name, but the taste remains the same. Kimchi ramen just like it should be. Dramen is pretty tasty and creamy, Bali Bali is definitely a vegetarian favorite.

Yelp
Followed the ramen from St. Paul location to here - been here a few times and the ramen are generally very flavorful and good. The noodles are chewy and the broth are thick. Also ran into the chef is charring the tonkasu. Everything lovery delicious

Yelp
Delicious ramen in a cozy and cute restaurant! The kimchi ramen was so good and full of flavor. I think they make the noodles in house, because they tasted so fresh. This restaurant used toast ordering which makes split paying easy and convenient. The service was great! He was super kind and did mention that the kimchi ramen was one of his favorites. We will definitely be back!

Yelp
I use to love their ramen. They hand pull their noodles on-site. They have a variety of different ramens. I typically gravitate towards their Korean style ramen. However, during my last visit- it was night and day from before. Not sure if it was just an off day- but my ramen was pretty much lukewarm. All the toppings were very cold. You also have to pay extra for everything- even down to the hot sauce. The restaurant itself is also looking very worn. The seats are all ripped up. There was a freezer right next to the tables that sounded like it was going to go out any minute. There were flys all over- which I would understand, considering the season- however they left all the tables dirty from previous customers so that does not help. When I went it was after the lunch rush. The restaurant was empty. There were 4 tables that were piled with dirty dishes. They sat there the entire time I was there while the employees were in the back talking. Lastly, don't expect ANY service. You order on a QR code and the server just brings you your food. Doesn't refill your beverages and doesn't ask how anything is. Not sure if management has changed or what was going on that day- but I sure hope they turn it around because this place use to be phenomenal!

Yelp
Tori 44 (and Tori Ramen, their St. Paul location), is literally one of the top ramen spots in the Twin Cities. This is because they embody the spirit of what ramen is. They have original and unique ramen. You won't find a ramen like their's in the state or in the country even. They make their own noodles, which is rare in the States. Their main ramen selections are poultry based, although they do run some unqiue ramen specials every now and then. My personal ramen picks here are the DraMN and Duck Ramen. The DraMN is their OG and first original bowl of ramen that I know of. They had this ramen back when they ran Unideli, a former ramen spot that used to occupy the deli area in the Japanese grocery store United Noodles (some MN ramen history for ya). The broth is emulsified chicken bone broth. Think tonkotsu, but instead of pork, it is chicken. The broth is thick, creamy, and fatty. It comes with chicken chashu, soft boiled eggs, and some other really delicious and unique toppings. This bowl incorporates unique flavors, salty, sweet, and umami. The Duck Ramen is a more citrusy broth. The Duck chashu is so moist and tender. Super delicious. Again, with the soft boiled egg and their unique and delicious toppings. Their noodles have a perfect bounce and bite to them. Again, they do a lot of specials. Sometimes, they run some unique ramen incorporating other kinds of meat like lamb. It is also a norm to find them doing specials that is vegan/plant-based (they had a really good vegan/plant-based tsukemen/dipping ramen one time). Speaking of plant-based, they are plant-based friendly and do have good options. See pictures I've attached for a couple photos of specials they had. My go-to appetizers/small plates here are their yuchayaki (plant-based takoyaki made of yucha), wings, and fried kimchi (think of extra crispy battered kimchi, making it like kimchi chips/karaage). Just think fried pickles, but kimchi instead. Just to note, they recently took out yuchayaki, but sometimes they bring it back. Lastly, their cocktails are amazing. The Shiso cocktail is so refreshing and aromatic. That being said, I hope you understand now why this spot is a top-notch ramen spot. If you're a ramen fanatic, Tori 44 (their Minneapolis location) and Tori Ramen (their St. Paul Location) is a must stop in the Twin Cities. Aside from ramen, they are just an awesome restaurant in general with delicious food. They serve other dishes besides ramen too.

Yelp
Honestly, I used to find this place good but when I went today the broth was soooooo SALTY. I didn't get the pleasure of slurping warm broth with my noodles because it was like drinking the ocean. Eventually the saltiness made the meat and noodles hard to eat as well.

Yelp
It's been many years since we've been here. They survived Covid which is a feat in itself! The building and interior are charming. The staff are excellent and genuinely want to make sure the food is cooked to your liking! A North Minneapolis staple! I had to update my previous review as it's been so long! This place is worth a try! Solid flavors! Small parking lot, takeout or waiter service inside! We went on the coldest day of the year, but it was toasty inside! Get the Show You if your looking for a classic soul warming broth! Craving a stick-to-your-ribs app? Try the Yucayaki! Like mashed potatoes on Thanksgiving... but Yuca... and better executed! Or maybe you're looking for a saucy and flavorful noodle like DanDan! Give it a try! The sake bottle are super cute! Get a few of those as well!

Yelp
Lovely dinner for a casual date night spot (rating reflects comparable restaurants). Appreciated the vegan options. We started with the yuca croquettes with mango sauce. Interesting texture and definitely shareable. I had the spicy miso ramen. The broth was fantastic and not wimpy like many "spicy" broths. My hub had the DraMN and also commented on the broth. The non-alcoholic beverage options were refreshing. Service was attentive and self-serve at the table streamlined ordering and payment.

Yelp
2.5/5 I want to like this place, I really do but I can't! We've eaten at Tori twice, once in St Paul and once in their North Minneapolis home. Both times we were disappointed but wanted to try because they have so many options for customizing a vegan bowl of ramen. The first time their ramen just wasn't for me, too much "stuff" in it - give me a big bowl of umami broth with noods please! The second time we dined the broth was extremely bland. We also tried the special vegan egg rolls and they were very messy and the filling just did not go together (junky and flavors weren't meshing). We also had the kimchi rice appetizer and that was probably my husband's favorite thing, though he did not eat the leftovers we brought back (too spicy for me). The staff and place are nice but as vegans, we won't be trying again and my Mr has given up on finding good vegan ramen in the cities (outside of making it at home!)
google avatar

Yelp
One of my favorite unconventional ramen places in the Twin Cities! If you're looking for authentic Japanese ramen though, this place probably isn't for you. I'm personally not vegan or gluten free but they have a bunch of really great options for those who are. First time I got their ramen I was a little skeptical since their chashu is made from chicken but it actually tastes really good. Even my pork chashu loving partner approves of it and he's pretty picky about his chashu. My partner and I's favorites are the DraMN, Salted Duck, and Bali Bali ramen. The noodles have a good thickness and the broth is very flavorful and rich. They also use ToastTab which allows you to open a tab and close it whenever you decide you're done which is nice if you want to keep ordering items throughout your meal. Place is on the smaller side but haven't really had any issues getting a table during dinner times. Parking lot is small as well but haven't had issues yet with finding a spot. A little on the pricier side for ramen but definitely recommend trying it out.

Yelp
This place has potential. I do love the ramen, but too many times the services is not the best and ramen unfortunately is not hot enough. It gets cold too fast. We order the Dramn Ramen and the DanDan both are flavorful but do not stay hot enough during the sit down. Bit this can be over looked , if the service was there. We had a party 7 , and they placed us in the back part of the restaurant to accommodate us which was nice , but unfortunately it was extremely cold in there. The ordering process was a little bit difficult because they want us to order through their app. Unfortunately we had people that didn't have a phone so it was a bit tough and they did help out with taking orders but it felt like we had to request them to come a few times for them to come over. After placing the orders in it took about 55 mins to get everything over. Most of our order was ramen with no additional appetizers for the most part. We had to check in to make sure they didn't forget about us. And trust me we understand if it's busy or because we're a bigger party but updates would be appreciate it.

Yelp
I have to be honest. I was not expecting this place to be this good. The best japanese ramen in the twin cities. After coming here with some girlfriends I wanted to bring my husband, and my coworkers lol I got the Salted Duck Ramen and wowwww my taste buds were swimming. Usually after eating Japanese ramen I feel greasy and the food is very heavy but not this broth. Its delicious and so smooth and so perfect with the chewy ramen noodles. You have to try this. The interior has a very japanese feel to it. It fills up around dinner time so I would set a reservation. Parking is ample. Really recommend this place especially during the winter if you want so hot, filling noodle soup.

Yelp
Tori 44 is a chef-driven ramen and Japanese spot in North Minneapolis. It's on a quaint little intersection and has a nice patio. Best of all, it labels all its vegan options. We got the DanDan and Chill ($17) which is a cold dan dan noodle salad and can be made vegan. It had the texture and flavor of a potato salad with a mayo-based sauce. I normally hate mayo, but it was tolerable here. But this dish isn't spicy or particularly satisfying. The "That's a spicy miso" ramen ($16) is vegan by default and one of two vegan ramen options. I thought this tasted fine, but not amazing. The Japanese curry rice ($16) is vegan by default and delicious with a savory, warming curry and lots of vegetables. I wish they had brown rice instead of white, but this is otherwise a great dish. The service is friendly and I dig what they're trying to do. I wasn't blown away by the food here, but I think Tori 44 brings something to the table and complements the two other excellent Japanese spots in town, Midori's Floating World Cafe and Ramen Kazama.

Yelp
It was not bad but just kind of unremarkable. The noodles themselves were good but the ingredients kinda didn't go together I don't think. I did like the tea egg though, that was unique!
google avatar

Mia H.

Yelp
Super cute little place, you can order and pay through QR which we honestly loved. I'm gluten free so wanted to go to try their gf ramen, the noodles were alright they soaked so much up it was a little disappointing but the rest of the family LOVED their food- and my kids are both picky with very different palates so it's a win in my book. Food came out pretty quick, portions were nice sized. My daughter loved their pea flower lemonade and it's beautiful color! Parking is very limited so if you're going in a group I'd try to carpool, also make sure to take care if you park across the street if you find street parking as the intersection is extremely scary with essentially a blind corner and cars barreling around it. We almost got hit by a car bc they couldn't see they had a red light- we had a full green and were in the middle of the crosswalk.

Yelp
If you aren't familiar with the area you could drive past and not know it. There is no actual sign. We are always on a mission to try new ramen places, and the reviews here prompted our visit on a dreary January Saturday. Cold Minnesota - hot ramen, are a win in my book. Come prepared to use a credit card. The menu ordering and payment are all through Toast. We were seated and promptly brought our water glasses and water pitcher. The dining room is pleasant and comfortable. The stainless steel chopsticks are unique but no real ramen spoon, just a long soup spoon. We ordered three bowls of ramen that took 45 minutes to get to the table. Then we had to send one back, well I had to take it to the counter, since the wait staff never came to check on us; the bowl we asked to be without chili oil had the oil. The vegetarian Bali Bali is heavy on the miso and spicy even without the chili oil. Good but not as amazing as the other review I had read. The turmeric and Morty came with a chicken drummie. So chewy, I couldn't even bite into it. The broth was good but a bit meh. No other chicken besides the inedible drumstick. The best tasting of the three ordered was the chicken noodle. Lots of chicken and best flavored broth. No condiments at the table so if you wanted to add any soy or hot sauce you are out of luck and I would not know if it was even an option since no one came to ask how it was. Super bummed that it wasn't as good as expected for the $$$.

Yelp
Cool noodle shop in Victory. I've had take out twice and eaten in once and they were all good experiences. They have a cool selection of Japanese sodas on the menu. I like how you can see them making the noodles in the space next door. Their ramen soups are all very creative and interesting, not just your plain old typical ramen flavors. Great spot for a date night.

Yelp
Came back here for the first time in a few years and t it was excellent! The location isn't really near anything else in terms of restaurants or bars but the ramen is spectacular. Got the kimchi ramen which was incredibly balanced with notes of sour, spicy, fatty, and umami with the wonderful in house made noodles. The staff was also incredibly kind. Worth the trip out here for the kimchi ramen which is one of the best bowls of ramen I've ever had.
google avatar

Karen B.

Yelp
Nice little restaurant. A little pricey but we enjoyed ourselves, Had to get out of the house and try some ramen on a cold snowy night. I had the duck ramen and he had the chicken ramen. Both were very good. Appetizer was their chicken wings. Wings were a combination of spicy and sweet. I'd get those again for sure.

Yelp
Decent ramen in Minnesota! Staff is really nice. Very easy to get a table. Would for sure come back and dine in or do take out.

Claire H.

Yelp
Have loved going here since they moved from St. Paul. Great ramen, always recommend the Bali Bali and the DraMN. Highlights are the agedashi tofu, the fried kimchi, and the tea egg. Try the tea egg you won't regret it.

Yelp
Not even sure how to start his review - heard about this place from a couple coworkers, went in on my birthday today as a special lunch to celebrate. I can truly say I have NEVER gotten ramen from anywhere without having to "doctor" it up with things such as soy sauce, hot sauce, etc. This was literally perfect as is - I did not add one thing and it was the best bowl of ramen I have ever tasted. WOW! I got the dra(MN) and a side of their kimchi. Upon leaving, I sampled a nibble of the kimchi, then driving home daydreaming about how tasty it was. The price is a bit higher but I literally saw them making the noodles / preparing / pulling them in the store. The staff are kind and friendly, the food is tasty and fresh, literally will crave this often. 10/10 need to try this place for a warm bowl of perfection! Options for vegetarians and vegans as well. I also really loved their commitment to the environment with almost all compostable items. Way to go Tori 44! Run, don't walk to warm up this winter (or any season) with Tori 44.

Yelp
Great local Ramen spot! Excellent service, unique flavors, and nice quantities with a changing menu. The dining room gets loud quickly.

Michelle S.

Yelp
The food was delicious and they had great service. The establishment is run down and the upkeep of the space and open kitchen was a turn off for me. If we ever go back, it'll be for take out.
google avatar

Yelp
This place is amazing. It's tucked away in North Minneapolis. A very unsuspecting spot. Cool building on a corner. Cool bar vibes in the front, quiet table in the back for a larger group. In the back, they also have old-school pasta machines that are the coolest. Good and service is incredible. For apps we got chicken wings, yuca croquettes. They even have edibles on their app menu. They have a good sake selection. And of course the ramen is fantastic. I got the Bali Bali ramen with chicken and loved every minute of it. Can't wait to go back on a snowy Saturday this winter and cozy up with a warm bowl.
google avatar

Jessica N.

Yelp
The restaurant is spacious and roomy, with a parking lot (limited space). You can also see the noodle machine for their homemade noodles in the back too. High top and low top seating. COVID precautions: QR mobile ordering and payment available at each table (although a waiter comes to tell you about the specials and can take your order and check the traditional way too). Went here recently for dinner with a friend. I got the DraMN and she got the Bali Bali. The presentation of the food was beautiful! The boiled eggs were done perfectly (meaning the yolk was still slightly runny). I wished there were more "traditional" ramen toppings though (ie, corn, bamboo shoots). I liked the noodles, which were thicker than other ramen places and has a good bounce texture to them. The broth for the DraMN is a mixture of their three broths. I thought that it was more on the salty side, with a hint of sweetness one could find in fresh seafood. The broth for the Bali Bali (also on the saltier side) was a creamy, nutty flavor that is similar to Szechuan Dan Dan noodles. Overall, this is a place I would recommend to people who want ramen with a twist. I still prefer the rich, creamy broth of a basic tonkatsu ramen, but this was a new flavor that is still satisfying on a cold day (just a little too salty for my taste).

Yelp
Prepare to be wooed by the nood; this place must have been ground zero for an UMAMI BOMB! Some info to know: - tare is Japanese for sauce - Chicken Chashu is rolled, pan fried chicken thighs, braised in a sweet soy sauce, and marinated in seasoning - Yu-choy is a long, green, leafy vegetable - Burdock is vegetable root (tastes better than it sounds) And now to the fun stuff: our order:) The DraMN Bowl: "Three tares in a chicken bone broth with chicken chashu, soft boiled eggs, yu-choy, burdock, sprouts, scallions, crispy leeks, sesame seeds, black garlic, and chili oils" The Bali Bali Bowl: Tahini-based sauce in hearty chicken broth, Szechuan ground chicken, slow poached egg, yu-choy, sprouts, braised burdock, scallions, sesame seeds, and chili oil. Holy buckets of broth... No offense to Maruchan (packaged ramen), but this type of dish shouldn't be said in the same sentence as that square stuff. Eating a bowl of legit ramen like this is truly an experience; Who knew the aroma of a soup could be so bold and memorable! What's in there? Plenty of vegetables cooked to tantalizing tenderness to add excellent crunch, savory chicken checks the box for heartiness, and two soft-boiled eggs doin' their dripping duty, all resting in a broth that can only be described as liquid euphoria. Chili oils, black garlic, and sesame seeds finish off this foreign feast My friend got the Bali Bali, and it appeared much thicker and creamier than my bowl. I did not try it but he savored the Szechuan and tahini tare. Tori 44 totally gets a 10/10. It is on the slightly spendier side and demands a sense of adventure... but their food's richness is that of royalty, and you won't regret trying it. In fact, you'll probably never forget it!

Yelp
First time there and the food and service were amazing! We had CREAM CHEESE WONTONS, Vegetable EGG ROLLS, Vegetable and Tofu THAI FRIED RICE, KARTA CRISPY GREEN BEAN , Vegetable and Tofu DRUNKEN NOODLE Noodle Stir-Fry. Our group loved all of the food. St. Paul Location. Good Job Chef and staff. The only thing I would say is please clean the ceiling vents and other dusty areas.

Allison F.

Yelp
Not what it used to be :( ramen is stilly tasty but the restaurant is run down. they seem to have lost their liquor license - only NA and THC options available. No table service - order everything through a QR code.

Yelp
This place is sooo tasty delicious!! Very chill vibes but also perfect for dinner date night. You MUST get the fried kimchi omg I literally got lost in a flavor filled euphoric episode of joy and absolute tongue pleasure!!! will be back!:)

Yelp
If you're looking for FLAVOR PACKED ramen, this is your place! So delicious and spicy, best ramen I've had so far in the Twin Cities. The yucayaki was something I had never tried, but it was also very good. Definitely worth a try! The staff was friendly and we were seated right away. Overall a great experience.

Yelp
Everybody on this post is lien this is horrible everything was cold waitress gave us sugar instead of salt ever had sugar on your soft boiled egg and cold ramen smh they don't have pepper I'm pretty sure they don't have salt either because nothing was seasoned

Great Gluten free apps for my GF friends but the service was absolutely sooo dreadful and it's WAY overpriced.

The ramen noodles are such a treat. They are homemade. They have a lunch menu & it goes til 3 pm. It's very clean professional and classy. We enjoyed the various egg tolls and the dumplings. Appetizer only. I recommend this. Good all around.

Yelp
Great Ramen place. They have vegetarian and chicken options only instead of pork based ramen so that was refreshing to see. Felt the chilli oil was a bit more in my draMN ramen but that's a personal preference. The place is small so I would recommend you call before coming in. The patio is ok, it's next to parking lot. We enjoyed our food. 10/10 would recommend.

Yelp
Tori 44 is a wonderful restaurant in Minneapolis. I was in search of someplace different while visiting the area for work. I love Asian food and decided to try a fusion restaurant. I had their kimchi, boneless chicken appetizer, salted duck ramen and the green tea creme brulee. Being an avid Asian food eater, I would not recommend the kimchi if you like the authentic flavor of Korean kimchi. The appetizer and ramen was delicious and make me very happy to discover this restaurant. The creme brulee was tasty. I was told it is a scratch kitchen that uses local ingredients which is also something I look for when searching for a place to eat. I recommend Tori 44 for Asian fusion, excellent service and a cool environment.

Yelp
I love the whole concept of ordering your food with a tab and closing the tab whenever you are done. No need to wait for your check, really at the convenience of your own time. I highly recommend the Honey Gochu Wings, they are some of the best wings I had and would say they come very close to authentic Korean fried chicken.

Yelp
|Hot Vegan Nights| I mean with a name like that, why would you not go?! Righhhhhht? Jess and I were lucky enough to stop by @tori44.mpls and their pop up, Hot Vegan Nights. To say we were blow away would be an understatement. We left with full bellies and plans to already return and try them again! Oh goodness, where to start?! Okay FIRST, they make all of their faux meats on site. YES really The menu (check out my story highlights) was a good balance of things I've tried and vegan spins on traditional Asian dishes. We opted for the Cowboy Bepop Burger, the ramen Mac & cheese and the Seoul Style Cheese Steak. The burger had a homemade mushroom patty with homemade onion rings scallion aioli, and Korean bbq pulled jackfruit. The patty was the perfect texture and taste - so much better than a bean or veggie patty. Then we tried the ramen Mac & Cheese. This cheese sauce was decidedly in the top two (or one!) best vegan cheese sauces we've ever had. I mean HOLY MOLY. It was perfect. It was nice to cut the richness by sharing other dishes at the same time, however we couldn't resist twirling those noodles and finishing every last bite. Last up was the Seoul Style Cheese Steak. It was good - no complaints - just outshined by the two previous dishes. It's hard when everything we ordered was amazing! We were so thoroughly impressed. Their sous chef is vegan and shout out to Robyn, their GM, who is also vegan and a complete sweetie. Jason, their owner, has collaborated to bring menu(s) that will surely make all the vegan hearts sing. Wanna know something else?! They will be at @tcvegfest !! They are also closing down @tori_ramen to open a new concept off West 7th that will boast a 50% Vegan/Vegetarian menu! They are running an @indiegogo campaign with some awesome specials! Watch out for this dream team, they have more in store for us!!

Yelp
I wish this place was good. Hubby loves good Ramen, but so hard to find. First you have to order and pay via a QR code on the table. The waiter DID stop by and explain some things, and point out the QR code. Thanks. We saw that and have seen it before. We are Gen X, not boomer (btw, some boomers are all over this stuff to look young, check out the arboritum, bleh). It was kind of accommodating, but also, look! don't expect menu's or the other stuff waiters usually do type explanation. Hubby and I ordered the same Ramen. I make Ramen at home, gluten free and glutinous to accommodate each of us. My ground chicken on top was cold. Cold. My large amount of GF noodles turned into a glob of mush that started to suck up every bit of broth. Okay, I understand rice noodles, but why can't you USE GF RAMEN noodles??? It filled me up fast, and hubby finished my glob of noodles and broth and bits. He said "that's weird, it has a sour aftertaste". Yup. I saw that fridge in the sitting area and it wasn't on, just garbage now in the sitting area? The benches were so beat up too. Oh, and one time the waiter stopped by and muffled something that we both couldn't hear, and quickly walked away. We have had our hearing checked and it's fine. What's up with that?

Yelp
Let me start by saying I know nothing about ramen. Literally nothing. Up until I went to this place I had never even had the packages of ramen that college kids live off of. Call me crazy. I ended up at Tori 44 after my dad suggested it for dinner. I had no idea what to expect and most of the menu made no sense to me whatsoever. The waiter took his time and helped to explain what things were and what would be the best option for us. I settled on the chicken noodle. Our whole table was impressed with the food, the presentation, and the beer. I'm not exactly sure what they had, but if you like beer it sounds like it's worth having. My chicken noodle ramen was interesting. I don't think I'm a fan of ramen in general but the noodles and chicken were great. There are a lot of noodles. Don't even worry about not having enough. None of us finished! Also, the whole restaurant is adorable. It has a rustic/hipster feel to it. There are a lot of windows and plants which I loved. This is a place I would come to do homework. I'm not sure if they do coffee, but if they don't they should. If you're a ramen person I think you would love this place! One thing I will say is to be careful of the neighborhood. It's not in a great part of town but we didn't have an issue and they have a little secluded patio if you want to eat outside. Go try it out!

Yelp
Great ramen place in an off the beaten path location. This is definitely where the locals go as it's not near any of the big attractions but it's a gem. I had the chicken noodle ramen and it was perfect for a cold day. It was a bit too salty for my preference but I generally like most foods with less salt so I don't hold that against it. Other than that it doesn't get much better as far as ramen goes and the friendly service and warm ambiance made for a nice evening. Definitely recommend.

Yelp
When it comes to ramen, I'm into a rich, creamy, pork bone Tonkotsu broth. And honestly, a vegetarian or even poultry-based ramen doesn't even sound good to me ha. But my god, Tori's vegetarian Bali Bali ramen is so divine it has changed me as a person. To clarify, I didn't even order the vegetarian Bali Bali ramen. But once I tasted Will's, I couldn't stop eating it. It has such a creamy and hearty tahini base that I didn't miss meat at all. It was so delicious with the heat of the Szechuan ground tofu, and I think there's fresh ginger in there too. We also love getting the Agedashi Tofu. We thought $14 was a little pricey, but it is a full robust meal in itself that's totally worth it; featuring the tofu AND a great variety of veggie tempura, seasoned rice, and a wasabi-green-onion garnish. The fried kimchi is a hit too. Last but certainly not least, I got the "K-Pop Chicken Sammy" (it might have been a limited special) and I could not stop scarfing that thing. The huge crispy and juicy Korean fried chicken was expertly executed, topped with havarti cheese, Asian pear, daikon, kimchi, Thai chili aioli, all inside the best potato bun. As of now, you can make a reservation online to dine on their outdoor patio. They also offer takeout and curbside pickup. They're open Thursday - Sunday, with weekend specials. So go ahead!

Yelp
The ramen is delicious, yet there seems to be a bit of an issue with consistency. I've visited twice and gotten the Kor Dee Yuh (Korean) ramen both times. The first time, I dined in and was expecting for it to taste like the old Tori Ramen on Selby. Most flavors were similar, but there was something difference about it that I couldn't quite put my finger on. The second time, I got take out due to COVID. The difference this time was the hot sauce/paste that they put around the rim. This was distinctly different in color, texture and taste than at Tori Ramen. I was bummed because that hot sauce/paste really adds good flavor to the ramen. The broth also tasted a bit different, but it was still very good. Overall, the Kor Dee Yuh is packed with flavor. I enjoy the variety of toppings that is offered in this bowl, more than other ramen places. The egg is soft, the chicken is flavorful and fresh and the kimchi amazing and crunchy! The sprouts and greens also add texture and crunch to each bite! I've had good, not great, experiences, but I will continue to come back for tasty ramen.

Yelp
This was my first time dining at Tori 44 or Tori Ramen in St. Paul. I did stop by to pick up a menu from then, when I realized they were next door to a vegan restaurant I dined at in STP. Ambiance: Small, creative, quaint, creates an atmosphere for you that feels peaceful and like you aren't in North Mpls, sitting in the Camden neighborhood, right off Penn Ave N., you just feel like you're somewhere else. Good job in creating atmosphere. Service: One server worked the entire room! She killed it. She was fast, attentive, friendly, polite and patient. The gentleman who brought the food out was very, very nice as well. Food: Loved it! Hand made noodles (from scratch), so you're eating fresh ramen.. mmmm... I had the Tumerick N Morty and it was delicious!! The broth was flavorful, smooth and calming. The ramen was delicious, as sit soaked up the flavors from the broth. I enjoyed the tender duck meat that basically came of the bone with an effortless stroke of my fork. It was a win win for me.

Yelp
Tori 44 is one of our favorite ramen spots! While it's a little ways away from where we live, it's definitely worth the drive. Also, they have parking, which helps a lot! Came in around 1pm on a Saturday and was seated immediately. We opted for a table instead of the bar. The decor is simple and cute. Our server informed us that they were only serving one item from the brunch menu at the time (I believe the chef was out). The brunch menu looked amazing! We wanted ramen, but we're definitely going to be back for the brunch menu (okonomiyaki, omurice, etc.). Before we placed our order, our server came back and said brunch menu items were available if we wanted. There were customers seated next to us that seemed disappointed they weren't able to order from the brunch because the chef had been out when they arrived. Anyways, we ordered 2 Korean ramen bowls. The Korean ramen has a lot of depth and umami to it. I love the kimchi and the chicken! At one point, my husband was like, "wow, this pork is so good!" thinking the chicken was pork, like many other ramen establishments. He goes, "how do they make it like that??" The noodles are also made in-house, and they are tasty. I believe Tori 44 also have vegetarian and gluten free options on their menu. They had 2 single stall gender-neutral bathrooms. The stall I went into did not have a changing table. Anyways, needless to say, we'll be back in for ramen and for the brunch!
