Always have appreciated local YMCAs as an affordable option for families, this is no exception. Very helpful staff. Swimming, free weights, treadmills, plenty activities for all ages. Clean facility. A lot of parking available as well.

Everett Roth

Google
Friendly staff, great amenities, clean equipment, but limiting hours. Basketball courts are more often than not booked with kids activities. Overall good value & would recommend if you have M-F work flexibility.

Google
We enrolled our 2 youngest children in the basketball league. They are having fun at their young age and I do realize it is a free service. Its hard for the teams to get coaches or for them to get their to coach the kids. Although the staff step up to fill in and other parents try to make it Happen....

The facility runs promotions to attract teens and families however only to upsell later thru promos. Different staff have different information about the same thing, some are helpful some are not. They wont let parents to guide teens on how to practice weights unless you pay for family membership. You can use one guest pass once a year and you pay $99 a month for family membership. They give you promotions for free upgrades for 15 days and have cancellation policy of 30 days so you will always be charged with their promotions. Pools are hit or a miss, restrictive schedules and so less activities that too just run by volunteers. You still pay $99. Ymca was supposedly for communities not for profit however its quite the opposite now. Supervisor when told, lives in state of denial. A simple acceptance on feedback would have meant things can change but thats not the case here.

Google
The staff is amazing! It can get very busy...like Costco but the people are actually nice! Lol The facility is pretty clean and registration was easy but lengthy for my large family. The family changing room is pretty nuts and extremely wet but I'm glad there is the option however I was told there was no nudity allowed and my first experience there, that was not the case...not what I want my little boys to see. There was a lot more splashing and jumping than I expected in the free swim zone. My 10 year old signed up for the swim crew but got bumped because she could not keep up after the first class. The class description should notify parents of the requirements (swimming 8+ laps) however switching classes was very simple. The child care crew is great, only wish they changed diapers and mixed formula but I understand the risks. Overall it's a great budget friendly membership for big families.

I'm a little frustrated. I was super excited to join, love the facilities but now have gone 2 times with the women's locker room being closed for 2 hours in the middle of the day for cleaning and once all day for repairs. This means no shower, no stream room or sauna. I called the San Pedro facility and asked if they had a steam room thinking the closure was Torrance specific. Got to San Pedro to see the locker rooms would be closing there as well in less than the time I would finish my workout. Super disappointed. I understand wanting a clean facility and appreciate that, but can it not be done in spot checks throughout the day without closing the entire locker room?! Closing a locker room for 2 hours in the middle of the day for cleaning when the facility is closed every night doesn't make sense to me. The frustration of never knowing what I was going to find at 24 hour fitness, in terms of things being open and available was literally why I decided to go the YMCA in the first place. The YMCA is world's better than the other but this has me really frustrated and discouraged. I can't afford an expensive gym and really enjoy going.

Google
Beautiful facilities. Secure, safe, clean. Well run. Pool offers lifeguards. YMCA Staff walks the building to answer questions and clean up.

Google
Love this gym everything about it is amazing. I use this gym on my commute to work to get a workout early in the morning. I spend a bit of time in the locker rooms getting ready and this gym has great locker rooms. The showers are all communal have great water pressure. There’s a bunch too so no waiting for an open shower. They have a sauna and steam room in the locker room so it’s gender separated. It’s such a friendly and welcoming environment. I’m able to fully get ready for work and do my makeup and hair all while being nude and everyone else is too and is fine with it! One thing I will say is that sometimes people do gross things in the locker rooms like it’s their own home. Mind you most if not everyone is naked so you should bring a towel to sit on but nobody really does and it’s a little gross. One thing is that I did see someone while sitting in the steam room pee where they were sitting just in the open. It’s gross, unfriendly, and very TMI.

Yelp
Changing membership fee after cancelation is very unprofessional. I was charged 3 months later. For 2 months YMCA didn't charged since I canceled but 3rd month 1AM $49 was taken out. I will call BBB. I will go to small claims court. I will tell my friends. YMCA charged not only 1more month but 3rd month will change again.

Yelp
* Review for Swim Lessons only * After 3 months of swim lessons for my child, I have mixed feelings about choosing the YMCA. Their prices are $210 for 2x/week (up to 8 per month) and $160 for 1 time per week when you include a family membership of $90/mo. It's more for nonmembers. The instructors are varied. Some better than others and in my experience, you will have a mix each month as they seem to switch off between each other. I, personally, think this affects continuity for the students. The classes can be up to 5 and when you're cramming that into 30 minutes, your child isn't going to see more than 5/6 minutes of actual swim time (at least in the earlier classes when they require more hands on instruction). My biggest pet peeve is the classes do not start on time! This month in particular, our child's class has consistently started 5-7 minutes after the start time. We just stand in line waiting for the instructor to show up and a few times, they've been arriving with the wrong roster and were delayed even more. If my child had not enjoyed being in the pool with the other kids, I would have moved lessons a month ago. When I compare what I'm spending per month for approximately 40 minutes of actual instruction, I think spending money for semi to private lessons would be more beneficial.

Yelp
Expensive and does not seem like not for profit. They run first month free promos which are actually not promos because you need to cancel 30 days in advance. So u will anyways be billed for second month on the first day of your free month....

Yelp
Been to many YMCAs across the country and this one is the nicest I've been. The pools are clean and warm!!! the people are nice and knowledgeable. The website could be quicker and more updated but thats a national level thing. Definitely love this one over the other YMCAs a great track, weight room, everything is clean and in good condition!

Yelp
Nice, helpful staff. You have to reserve to get into classes a week ahead. Clean and well cared for. They updated some equipment recently.

Janet L.

Yelp
Love this place, but since Covid we have to make swim appointment times, and I can't always get what I want they seem to fill up spots really quickly, and waiting lists are full too for a lot of classes, its a shame.

K L.

Yelp
The Torrance Y is denying a 4 year old and opportunity to register for a dance class because of a home location jurisdiction. The home Y does not offer any dance classes. The membership is national. SMH

Yelp
I transitioned my membership to SB YMCA thru my insurance SCAN from another local Gym. I can't believe the difference. 1. The facility is clean, and easy to use, and swimming pool and shower, has the right tempature, clean, and wonderful. 2. The staff are very helpful, Ms. Rachel at front desk help me set up the APP, and continuing help me whenever I have a problem. Lorraine help me checking-in daily, and show me how to set up the reservation. The two ladies at the front desk remember most people's name, they always at the front greeting everyone. 3. I am so happy to be able to workout at YMCA, Thanks Joanna

Yelp
I signed my family up a week ago been and I am so impressed... my son has been to the kids club twice and he absolutely loved it and is asking to return. I've already been to three classes, and all of them were excellent. I really appreciate how they get right into working out and make the most out of the time spent. The sauna and steam room was excellent and the facility clean. Mostly, everyone working there always has a smile on their face and are welcoming and eager to help with any questions. I can't believe it took me so long to sign up and I'm really excited about being able to finally carve out the time to take care of myself while knowing my child is also in good hands. Oh and the app is super user friendly and makes it so easy to schedule classes and plan out the week ahead!

Yelp
ATTN PARENTS My family recently joined the YMCA Torrance/South Bay and I feel obligated to spread my experience with you. I have two children who are exceptionally happy, outgoing and full of constant smiles. When we joined the YMCA and they began to attend the children's center there I saw an immediate shift in both of their demeanors. They seemed anxious, unusually quiet and would beg to not go back to "kids club" day after day. I took it as they were unhappy going to a new environment and needed some time adjusting. As I took them to the restroom at the YMCA before dropping them off in the child's center, my husband and I overheard one particular staff member speaking to a little girl in attendance. She was screaming at the children to clean up, and as this little girl dropped her colored pencil on accident, this staff member began yelling at her to pick it up quite aggressively. My husband and I were horrified at this display of barbaric behavior, obviously canceling our membership right away, and attempted to report the behavior. We asked to speak to a manager, and the person we were directed to told us that the particular staff member has been working with kids all day and was tired as they were short staffed. This is absolutely no excuse. If you work in a children's facility, you should expect to work with children. Even if you are tired, there is absolutely no reason it should be taken out on this poor little girl. I tried calling the following week to have a different manager or staff go by the children's area to make sure the children present were properly being cared for. I got no phone calls or follow ups in return which is even more frightening. As a family run gym, there should have been one staff member that at least could have reached out to look into it. If you or anyone you know has children at YMCA Torrance in the children's club, I urge you to make sure your children are safe and being treated with kindness and respect from all staff there.

Yelp
YMCA--what does the "YM" stand for? Yet there were no young men here. Just people who look at you funny when you walk in. (I'm not taking about the employees either). What I cannot figure out is that whenyou try to book the 2 swim lanes (that you can only sign up for 24 hours in advance), they are already taken by the SAME 2 people that were there the last week and the week before. How is that? Can anybody else get a chance to swim?

Yelp
I'm in shock at how much this YMCA has changed. I called in to get information about becoming a member again and was blown away at the customer service and or lack there of, I received. It's obvious that the woman who answered the phone and provided me with information, must absolutely hate her job. She sounded as if I was bothering her by calling in the first place. The phone call was so unprofessional and uncomfortable, I couldn't believe it. I was a long time member here 15-20 years ago and it was a wonderful place to be, the staff was so friendly and helpful. They offered many classes and had lots of workout machines to choose from. I would get a full workout in and then go and do laps in the pool and enjoy the jacuzzi after. Well it looks as if those days are long gone. You literally have to make a appointment to use the pool????? What???? That is insane! The jacuzzi is only open on certain days and times???? Absolutely unbelievable!!!! Their excuse is due to Covid. I wanted to come check out the Y once more and do a free trial but they only provide a 1 day pass?!?! Crazy!!! How can I fully try out this establishment with all of its amenities, if I can't use All that they have to offer? I can't make a reservation to use the pool because, I'm not a member. I can't use the jacuzzi because it's only open 2-3 days a week and at certain times. They apparently are now not open on Sunday's. I'm at a loss here. Nothing makes sense! I was looking forward to rejoining this YMCA but not now. Especially the way I was treated over the phone! It's a total shame how this wonderful YMCA has changed and how they treat their potential new members. The whole place needs to reevaluate their employees/volunteers and new policies. Don't waste your time dealing with this nonsense. It's not the Y that you are use to. Also if you want to cancel your membership, you have to give a written 30day notice?!?!? That in itself is ridiculous!!!! Sounds like a money grab, if you ask me. Another way to suck out 1 more month of dues! So so sad.

Robert L.

Yelp
BEWARE! STAY AWAY Family of four and we were excited to join the Y and take advantage of all the basketball, ballet, Lego classes for the kids and a daycare so my wife and I could attend classes. Instead, all kids classes are booked within a half hour of opening (which opens at like 10am which is very convenient for working parents). When asking the front desk, they said, " I'm sorry, we are a really popular y and classes fill up quick." Why if they are popular they could not open up more classes (my son has been on double digit waitlist for everything) doesn't make sense to me? My son was able to sign up for Lego classes, however, 2 out of 4 were cancelled. After waiting two months, we finally were lucky to get ballet classes and even bought the outfit. The Y cancelled 3 out of 4 classes, but had to explain to my 3 year old that she needed to change because class had been cancelled. Daycare, or the child activity center was almost impossible to access, they were always booked. When I asked for help, the understaffed, overworked desk helpers apologized but couldn't really do anything to help. They seem cool, it's seems more like a staffing issue from the owner operator level.

Yelp
So far... The Torrance South Bay YMCA has been a good experience for the most part, with only a few frustrating hiccups which were minor inconveniences. The location here is good. The demographics seem to trend towards favoring an elderly / senior Japanese patronage, which to me is pretty awesome seeing older active citizens. Inherent to the members, this place tends to be not so chaotic and very easy going with a good family friendly appeal to it. They have nice programs they offer, and I'm still feeling out and expanding my experiences, so I can easily update this with a * * * * * five star review or downgrade it appropriately if warranted. For now, I'd say it's a good location and things are to expectation as a member. Parking can be tough when it's crowded of course, but I've seemed to come at the right times where I've never had to circle around to wait for the right timing to get a spot as someone leaves.

Martin R.

Yelp
This YMCA unfortunately has a dysfunctional lap lane reservation system beneath their friendly veneer. It is inflexible, buggy, and constricted. To get any lap lane in advance, you must literally reserve a lane 169 hours ahead, for example, at 6 am on the minute for a 7 am reservation 7 days later. Often, when you try to reserve at 6:00 am, all lanes get snatched up and booked, shutting you out for optimal times and leaving you to try and book on the day of if any slots are available. This reservation system is done for the convenience of the staff and not the convenience and enjoyment of the members. The Y should return to its pre-COVID lap lane policies of open swim. I see this policy/system back in place at other YMCAs in the U.S. Members are not getting the best value under this selfish reservation system.

Yelp
I love the water fitness classes!!!! However the women's bathroom and shower area is nasty. The shower area needs a deep clean and some bleach. After my water fitness class I go home to shower rather than at the Y. Please do better.
google avatar

Yelp
I feel the need to put my 2 cents in on the conversation. Some of the negatives on this location are not really true. Because of Covid a lot of rules had to be put in place. I mainly use the pool. I like the reservation process so only 2 people in a lane instead of up to 4 in the past which made it challenging to swim with people in your speed. The lack of staff is totally not their problem.people do not want to work as lifeguards. The Torrance plunge had to reduce their day swim to one day a week. The staff at the Y is fine. There is a learning curve in the reservation and rules they have to use after the Covid fiasco.

Yelp
Charges for a day pass are too much. Came here to workout and sign up, however I had to reconsider as my family may want to sign up. Anyway, couldn't workout until my membership was complete. I'm not signing anything until I can see the gym and use the equipment. It was pretty obvious that I WAS there to work out. Ended up leaving and never coming back.

Yelp
I love love LOVE the YMCA. I love the range of classes they offer, love the instructors, and love all the amenities that come with the facility. Before entering the premises they make sure you have been vaccinated, which makes me feel extra safe. The staff at the counter in the daytime make me feel so comfortable and welcome-- I hope they know how much they brighten my day.

Yelp
This must be one of the biggest YMCAs in LA County! I was in the area for a quick workout and was surprised on the various activities available at this Torrance location. From indoor rock climbing to an indoor running track, it offered more than the average facilities. The cardio room had rows of treadmills and elliptical machines with three additional big screen monitors mounted to the wall. I ran on the treadmill and felt the air conditioning kept the room cool, but it was intermittently turn off and left us without a cool ventilation. Overall, all the equipment was in good shape and well maintained. The initial reason why I came here was because they opened at 6AM on Sundays which was unusual for the smaller YMCAs. This will be my back up location if I needed a great workout.

Yelp
This is a beautiful facility. I've volunteered with the Y for 6 months in the senior program to help serve food. The staff genuinely care for the members at the Y and the maintenance team does a wonderful job keeping the facility clean. I decided to get a membership here because this facility gives back so much to the community. I really appreciate that they offer financial assistance to those who are low income to make their membership more affordable. You just have to show proof that you are a student or last year's tax return and 2 recent payment stubs. I come to the Y mostly for fitness and swimming. The swim area has two huge heated pools with several lanes to do laps. The fitness area is separated by two floors. Downstairs has a rock climbing wall, basketball court, cardio room and free weights. Upstairs has more equipment, indoor track and workout machines. The women's locker room has access to the pool area. It also has a sauna room, steam room and showers inside. (Not sure if men's locker room have sauna and steam room). Parking can be a hassle in the morning and evening. They offer free valet to manage the madness.

Yelp
Have been a member intermittently over the last ten years. My kids went to school childcare sites, residential summer camps, and have gotten more involved in their youth leadership programs. I've used their exercise facilities. I can't recommend them enough for the things they do in and with the community.

Linda M.

Yelp
Don't sign up for a membership if you want to use the lap pools. Getting a reservation for a lap swim is a nightmare! They have recently canceled over 160 lap reservations a day. Deceiving when you take the tour and see they have two beautiful lap swim pools. They have very limited hours and keep one pool closed most days. They also advertise a jacuzzi/hot tub that also has limited availability and is closed most days. Just like any business their priority is swim lessons that are extra fees and revenue. Priority is not for members needs and services

Emilynne M.

Yelp
great facility! always clean, staff is friendly and helpful. I just would like the whirlpool/jacuzzi to be available more often, as there is usually not enough life guards on duty to have it open for the members.

Yelp
We canceled our membership pre-covid due to the LAX control of the sauna and steam rooms(some ppl use oils and chemicals on the heating element causing sinus irritation and discharge...i get why they do it, its just not healthy for some with allergies), and the theft of some personal items. Reading the reviews that I have now read, I wonder if I want to come back to work out in the Y. Their website used to have information on rates for membership for seniors, individuals and Families... but now there's no information, just plenty of promos and codes and stuff like that. It's not really helpful at all. I came in to ask but there was no one available to answer my questions on two different occasions, so I tried the website- all to no avail. It's a shame I really should try harder to make it work better. I'm old enough to remember the wise in every town I would visit where I could work out take a swim, a sauna or a steam bath. In those days you could actually even stay in a while and people were very professional when you would come into these places. I don't feel that when I enter this Y.
google avatar

Bobbi V.

Yelp
I just got a memebership (again). I'm kinda happy. I like that it's clean and not too many people. I don't have to wait for machines. The sauna, pool and steam room are open. I really wish the hours were better so I can work out after work and on the weekends. The child is very very limited and your HAVE to reserve a spot every single time. That's rough!!

Guifu Z.

Yelp
I just recently rejoined this Ymca as family plan and found they reduce lots of hours, no open on Sunday and close at 8 pm which is very inconvenient for working family. I like play pingpong. Before Covid, I can play after my work , I come around 7 pm I can play until 9 pm , at that time most player will leave. Now they close at 8 pm. I just got warmup. And I always have to work at Saturday . Now I can't play on Sunday. Besides , there are much more players than available tables and this ymca only have limited schedules so all players come in the same time. They do need close later than 8 pm so player can come on different schedule

Yelp
I couldn't believe when I signed up that I would be so blessed as to find such loving & compassionate people. Not only did they help me to see if I qualified for a lower monthly payment but I am always greeted with a smile & a warm welcome back to the YMCA. I was asked if I wanted help this Christmas, which I really needed because my pay was cut significantly so I was so relieved that Katy had offered the help. But what happened today when I came in was well over what I ever expected my children & I world receive. They gave me 30 plus wrapped gifts & a good gift card to Ralph's. Thank you all so much

Yelp
The reasons I chose this membership were because the equipment rooms are separated so you don't feel overcrowded & there's a steam room/jacuzzi. Post covid reopening, this place has gone downhill. The jacuzzi is open once a week due to "lack of staff" when I see young staff just standing around, joking and chatting away. The mens locker room was closed due to plumbing issues that should be an urgent priority given that the men need somewhere to shower post workout. Instead, they had to use the family room, exposing themselves to children. The locker rooms need to be cleaned more often. I see black mold dots in the shower & consistently hair in every drain. I once got a wart from using their facilities without water shoes. Seeing as how this is the most expensive gym around, you'd expect better from management to care for their members. Really disappointed in how far they've allowed themselves to fall behind. I can no longer recommend this place to anyone.

Gloria H.

Yelp
this gym is just around to fleece the community. They want a 30 day cancellation policy in writing, so basically they make it really difficult for you to cancel just so they can continue squeezing money out of you. Never again. Bye Bye YMCA. No wonder the place is empty. It is sad because its is a good idea and they should fill a community void but not with hustlers running the show.

L D.

Yelp
This review is in regards to the summer camp. My son attended camp for a week and it was a complete waste of money. They sent out a daily schedule but did not follow it. They did not do any of the art projects or outdoor activities that were on the schedule. I tried multiple times to reach out to the site director but was ignored. Again, it was a complete waste of money (it is not a cheap camp).

Caz K.

Yelp
Totally disappointed in this spot. My family and I used to go to this YMCA to play Basketball and workout. And incident occurred during the time of Covid where and employee RUDELY told my wife to Tell your Kids to put their mask on because we were playing basketball and of course the mask would slip off. My wife didn't like the tone of voice that the employee used towards her nor the Fact that our kids was not the only ones with their mask that was coming off. After playing we went home and got a call the next day saying our membership was Suspended without this facility looking further into the incident or getting our side of the story. We as a family felt ashamed that they would accuse us of being rude to their employees and suspending our account. We used to donate money to this facility and I used to Coach Youth Basketball here. So now here's the problem. We get a phone call to comeback to this facility so I sign back up to be a member and when we get there today they tell us that we can't enter the facility because there's a hold on my account. I felt embarrassed for my son and myself as all we were trying to do was go back to this facility after getting a phone call to comeback . Being denied entry in front off other families was super embarrassing. Why would they invite us back if they weren't gonna let us back in???? Obviously there's no communication amongst their staff . I hope one day they can get it back together. This used to be a great spot to go to.

Yelp
The Good: Lots of classes, Yoga, Spin, Zumba, etc. Instructors are generally good and willing to work with you, answer questions, etc. Classes are not competitive. Gym members are generally friendly. Lots of trainers walking around to answer questions Good or Bad, your call... Not for fashionistas. You won't see bare midriffs or super expensive gym clothing. There is a mix of ages, trending older, families, not so much 20's. The Bad: Your high school senior/college student is no longer part of your family. Once a child turns 18, even if full time student in high school, you are charged extra. Showers are too close together. Water will bounce off a person showering next to you and land on you. I find this unappealing. As a single or a couple, you are paying for the child using the pool as a toilet. A childless couple pays the same as a couple with 3,4, or more children. Extremely strong chlorine in water will eat through your bathing suit relatively quickly. If your skin is sensitive to chlorine, expect a rash.

Yelp
My family started going here because we got free one week trial passes. We were really happy with the indoor swimming pool, the basketball courts, the accessibility of the locker rooms, and the staff. The other YMCA members are also very friendly, and we made quite a few friends here. We look forward to going again once shelter in place ends...

Yelp
(Basketball Review) Great place for kids. Lots of activities offered for all ages ranges. My daughter wanted to try out basketball so we enrolled her in a workshop. She enjoyed it a lot. The staff made learning how to play fun for everyone. We registered her for one of their teams. Initially, we tried to get her into an all-girls league with Torrance Parks and Recreation but missed the deadline. The Y offered an all-girl team but they didn't have enough players. So, hesitantly, she joined a co-ed team. At first she was the only girl but asked one of her classmates to play with her. She quickly picked up aspects of the game and ended the season with an invitation to the All-Star Tournament. Loved the facilities. The courts were in excellent shape, as were the equipment (hoops, backboards, basketballs, comes, etc.) and there's adequate seating for fans to watch. The volunteer coaches were very encouraging. Kids learned a lot from them. Most of the referees were good letting the kids play at their level, although there was one ref who made questionable calls. The banquet at the end of the season was a good way for all the kids to celebrate their accomplishments. Each received a trophy for participating. Overall it was a great experience for my daughter. She wants to go back to play again once enrollment for the next season begins.

Yelp
I was waiting for my daughter's dance instructor to arrive, then 15 minutes after the class starting time , I asked the front desk what was going on. The front desk admin asked another admin, and I was notified the instructor quit. There was no sign or anything on the room door. While waiting outside in my car to find another class, another member and I were inside our cars, and apparently the kids were being let out of two huge tour buses who blocked any cars from getting out of the parking space. The kids proceed to get out with there bags and luggage without any adult escorting or giving them a trail to go on, the kids squeeze between, and swipe dragging there luggage alongside all parked cars that day. The other parked guy and I were furious, I know some people may have came out and wondered if someone scratched there car. There should be more adult supervision and presence here.

Yelp
So, YMCA is still charging its members $49 or more (depending on their membership level) during the coronavirus lockdown. I am absolutely, positively DISGUSTED and livid about this. When I read online about why they were still charging their members, it said that we are paying for their charities, but I decide what I want to donate to GOD DAMNIT. I filed a dispute and will boycott YMCA from now on. GO TO HELL YMCA!!! WOW WHAT A DISGUSTING ORGANIZATION.

Yelp
There are two staff behind the counter who don't do their jobs. They give customers mis-information about classes and how to register because they are to lazy to do it there at the YMCA. So they say you have to do it online. Why would I have to fill out paperwork at the YMCA for a class but then go online to pay for it? Why? Because your ass is to lazy to put my info in the computer. Management needs to either re-train you or fire you and get real helpful employees who don't tell customers mis-information to get out of doing work, and putting your feet up while sitting on your ass getting paid for doing nothing!! Facility is clean. Some staff are excellent.

Yelp
Mishandling of wristbands for Will's boot camp. Even though I had a wristband with a number on it, I couldn't work out because they changed the wristband policy at the end of Amy's class. I complained to the powers that be that fair warning should be given for next time, but to no avail. A couple of members I know terminated their membership that day because of their frustration & management's disrespect toward its members. Save your money and check out other clubs nearby that doesn't change policies at a moment's notice to the detriment of its members.

Yelp
I come here for the yoga & zen it leaves me with. Marte & Amy are amazing instructors who have made incredible changes in my body & mental processing. Every other place that has yoga is three times the price! I also love their free trainers & walking track. I have a free membership to 24 Hour Fitness but it's not as clean & doesn't offer near as many benefits.

Yelp
What has happened to the Torrance YMCA? I've been a member for 22 years but spent 7 years at the Mission Viejo location, which happens to be a great gym! The Torrance location customer service really sucks and is circling the drain. It's so difficult to get any assistance on the phone or at the desk. They act like they don't see you standing in front if them then seem annoyed that you're asking a question. There use to be a trainer in the gym area to answer questions or give guidance on equipment use. Now they walk the through room staring straight forward and ignore you when you try and get their attention. The cost of membership is expensive in comparison to other gyms and at one time it was truly worth it. I'm so disappointed that the Y has gotten so far away from their core values. I think it was in very bad forum to continue to charge for membership during Covid while members were not receiving what they were paying for, in essence, we were continuing to pay the employees while they remained home on a lengthy vacation.

Yelp
I have been so inspired by the commitment and staff of the YMCA in Torrance since moving here two years ago that I joined the advisory board. Two of my kids went to camp this winter and they were NOT excited about it. When they returned, the first thing each said was "we're going back every year, and can we go this summer?". Thank you Torrance Y!

Yelp
Very disappointed!! My car has been damaged two times in one year in there parking lot. One time it was keyed and the next time the whole front door was caved in. Someone must of backed into it or something. The YMCA has cameras but no one seems to really care what happens outside the gym or want to use the cameras. I've enjoyed the gym but I'm considering leaving. My cars aren't safe in the parking lot. They definitely need a security guard out there.

Yelp
Parking - more then enough to go around you will definitely find a space here. Facility- this is by far the best YMCA I have been to. Updated machines, rock climbing, weight room, additional work out rooms upstairs, and a good sized pool. I may actually take an extra drive to go to this one then the one in Gardena. Simply beautiful place. Staff- staff is always more then welcome to help you great people working here. Doesn't seem like there here just for a check. Willing to help and that's what I love. Overall - I would definitely go here and now I can't wait till I find another Y as good as this one.

Yelp
On our physician's advice, my wife and I joined the YMCA and participate in the water exercises several times a week. An announcement was recently made that the pool and Jacuzzi are being closed from December 22, 2019 until January 5, 2020. When I requested an adjustment in the monthly rate for the 2-week closure, I was informed by the facility's representative that this was not possible. We believe this is unfair. As senior citizens, we do not participate in any other activities at the "Y."

Yelp
Around April I signed up for both membership and swimming classes and not only was the price costly but the customer service was bad. 2 months after I joined I called the Y several times during their business hours to speak to a representative with no answer nor a no call back. I went online and submitted an inquiry so someone could call me back and a week later they did with absolutely no remorse for their non-responsiveness and actually tried to say all YMCA are busy these days.

Yelp
We had a wonderful experience with the youth Junior Clippers basketball program. The coach was fantastic, and the staff was approachable and helpful. We look forward to next season. We recently signed up for the Adventure Guides program for parents and children. One event in and it has been a fun rewarding experience so far. Keep up the good work.

Yelp
Let me start off with I love this YMCA facilities and programs. There is enough to do for all ages and physical or mental conditions. The people cleaning are diligent and thorough. All staff are superb. Here is my issue. People who chose to use the places where they will sit nude should put a towel on the stool ,couch sauna, steam room, floor or seats in the shower or dressing room if no towel down first , they are exposing themselves to whatever infections the person had who set there before them. Also, the towellessnperson is exposing the people after them to whatever they leave behind. I don't understand. We use covers for the toilet seats before we sit down, but not a towel down for there nude buts. They wipe the exercise machines down before and after they sit on them. Just as there is a rule, no cell phones in the locker rooms, there should be a rule, put a towel down before you sit your nude butt. The YMCA will not be responsible if you sit your nude butts in an area, that could have been infected. c I don't know who reads these comments.
