the owner, a native of guadalajara, according to the tribune, used to be a unlicensed street vendor selling tortas. after many citations, he opened this eatery which has a counter and some tables. not much decor.

-tortas (mex. sandwich) ahogadas(4.95) : very meaty sandwich provided with a very spicy chile sauce and a milder one. sliced onions provided as a garnish. pretty good, tender meat.

*10 pieces of camarones mostly dry, overccooked, no shrimp taste

-advised by owner/cashier menu was in spanish. i just pointed to the namesake (tortas ahogadas) and to the flan on the couner, and i told him "that's okay".
