The Best Restaurants in Tijuana, Mexico | Eater San Diego
"While Tijuana’s regional torta may be the torta de lomo (tenderloin), the day Juan Manuel Hernández brought a bread roll to his taco stand to make himself a carne asada torta for lunch changed this border town forever. Arguably one of the best tortas in all of Mexico is simple —marinated steak cooked over mesquite that’s chopped and briefly placed in a steam pan then packed between a flour-dusted white pambazo roll spread with mayo and guacamole. The final touch, a pickled tomato and purple onion salad for a sandwich that’s an emblem of the city, which has outlasted the car wash that gave Tortas Washmobile its name." - Bill Esparza
Tijuana’s Legendary Tortas Washmobile Opening Pop-Up Restaurant at Novo Brazil Brewing Company | Eater San Diego
"Named one of Eater’s 27 essential restaurants in the city, this iconic Tijuana food stop—whose original stand on Avenida Jalisco opened nearly 60 years ago in front of an old car wash—will be bringing its famous Mexican sandwiches to Novo Brazil Brewing Company’s Lane Avenue taproom starting Thursday, February 16. Operating one day a week from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on alternating Tuesdays and Thursdays, the San Diego pop-up is being run by chef Pedro Fuentes, the nephew of Washmobile founder Manuel Hernandez; he will be cooking the family’s famed tortas made with soft, flour-dusted pambazo rolls from a Tijuana bakery filled with marinated and grilled brisket, panela cheese, tomato, and guacamole. This will be Tortas Washmobile’s first public residency in San Diego and continues a pilot at Novo Brazil that sold 500 tortas in four hours." - Candice Woo

Tortas are Delicious. However prices he doubled in last few years. Expect to pay atleast 100 pesos each. Before they were, 55 pesos. I myself don't think its worth it anymore. Your still left with hunger, honestly.
