Rick Bayless Is Opening a Mexican Restaurant, Tortazo, in Las Vegas | Eater Vegas

"Chef Rick Bayless is bringing his Mexican restaurant Tortazo to Caesars Palace Las Vegas later this year; the Michelin-starred chef already operates locations in New York and Chicago, and the Las Vegas spot will be the brand’s first on the West Coast. The menu centers on tortas—each served on a soft telera roll brushed with black beans—and also features tacos, guacamole, and tortilla soup. Tortazo’s torta offerings include a vegan option with portabello mushrooms, chihuahua cheese, roasted poblanos, and salsa; a crispy chicken torta with pickled jalapeños, cotija cheese, and cilantro crema; and a carne asada torta with chile-rubbed prime sirloin, avocado, poblano rajas, and chimichurri. The restaurant also serves quesadillas and house-made churros with dipping sauces. Bayless will open a new location at Harrah’s Joliet outside Chicago this spring, with the Las Vegas location to follow in late summer." - Janna Karel

Popped in and tried the chicken tacos. Good combination of flavours and we finished them all, but not the best I've ever had to be fair. Service was good and shared seating can be found opposite. Pay and get a buzzer and wait for your food. Ours came relatively quickly.

Tortazo was a tasty stop! The pork torta with carnitas was absolutely delicious, flavorful and satisfying. The beef birria torta wasn’t quite as good in comparison, but still decent. Worth a visit for the carnitas alone! Be prepared to spend a lot of money!

Have always loved watching Rick Bayless on YouTube and elsewhere and have always wanted to try his version of Mexican food. I'll start by saying it's typical Vegas pricing. Complaining about prices in Vegas, especially at a Caesars property, is a given so why fuss about it? We ordered a carne asada torta, chipotle chicken torta, and another one (I can't remember which it was) as well as some chili garlic peanuts and their loaded type nachos. All were good quality. Not the best torta I've ever had, as I'm from Southern California, but I'll say their salsas were good, as was their guacamole, and the peanuts were tasty and interesting. We enjoyed it as the ingredients were all of high quality.

Ordered the Birria Torta 4/5. Torta was crispy outside soft in the middle. Really tasty with dipping sauce. A little pricey for a sandwich ($23)

It is VERY HARD to get such a low rating from me with of all things carne asada street tacos... These were awful, actually. INSANELY OVERPRICED. The tiny 3 tacos and a small fountain soda ran me $29.24 The tortillas were very dry and edged hard, they are not double wrapped. Each baby taco was 1 corn tortilla instead of the usual 2 tortillas per taco like every other street style taco I've ever had. The taco itself was so skimpy.. and VERY VERY VERY spicy, the Pico was sprinkled at best. I wish I hadn't spent my money here, I didn't eat all the tacos because quite frankly, they were gross and way too hot. Also, I sat here waiting for 3 tacos for almost 20 minutes. I'm just disappointed, and imo, it's unacceptable. Will not order from here ever again. $30 like are you actually kidding me?

Guacamole is overpriced for the amount you get, really all of it is for what you get. The green sauce and salsa were nasty. You get one lime slice per 3 tacos and when ask for more limes for a total of 9 tacos, they only gave me two more. Also the red fresca drink does not taste like fruit punch like the lady at the front says it does. They have a lot of work to do if want to be a better restaurant.

I had a milaneza torta, and wasn't great. It wasn't that bad, the taste was good... but award winning tortas?! I don't think so, not even close. The worst part wasn't the tortas itself but the service. I asked for a lemon and the guy gave me a tiny little slice and I said can I get another one and he gave me another one clearly annoyed and said to me "you know we're not really supposed to give this away, this are only for the tacos" like what the hell. I'm paying 18 dollars for a small torta and you can even give me lemon with it?! Never eating here again. Go to the Korean place next to it, my friends had the Ramen and it was very good 👍

NEVER eating from here again. At first glance, it looks good... but i was DECEIVED!. They claim to serve tortas, but heck no! Not even close. Cotija does not go in tortas, plus there was no tomato slice and no sides. I asked to try their salsa, and the man (look at receipt name) requested to return what was given to me before getting something else. One torta and one small bottle of water was almost $30. Should I lock the third reviews prior to visiting this place. Never again!
