Rick Bayless Is Opening a Mexican Restaurant, Tortazo, in Las Vegas | Eater Vegas

"Chef Rick Bayless is bringing his Mexican restaurant Tortazo to Caesars Palace Las Vegas later this year; the Michelin-starred chef already operates locations in New York and Chicago, and the Las Vegas spot will be the brand’s first on the West Coast. The menu centers on tortas—each served on a soft telera roll brushed with black beans—and also features tacos, guacamole, and tortilla soup. Tortazo’s torta offerings include a vegan option with portabello mushrooms, chihuahua cheese, roasted poblanos, and salsa; a crispy chicken torta with pickled jalapeños, cotija cheese, and cilantro crema; and a carne asada torta with chile-rubbed prime sirloin, avocado, poblano rajas, and chimichurri. The restaurant also serves quesadillas and house-made churros with dipping sauces. Bayless will open a new location at Harrah’s Joliet outside Chicago this spring, with the Las Vegas location to follow in late summer." - Janna Karel

Google
Popped in and tried the chicken tacos. Good combination of flavours and we finished them all, but not the best I've ever had to be fair. Service was good and shared seating can be found opposite. Pay and get a buzzer and wait for your food. Ours came relatively quickly.

Google
We were excited since we tried his restaurants in Chicago. I have to say this place was underwhelming at best. Their tortas were sparse on the meat for the high strip prices. Their churros didn’t it taste fresh. The chocolate dipping sauce was an extra $2. Most place comes with the dipping sauce. Overall, we’re not impressed with this place.

Google
Have always loved watching Rick Bayless on YouTube and elsewhere and have always wanted to try his version of Mexican food. I'll start by saying it's typical Vegas pricing. Complaining about prices in Vegas, especially at a Caesars property, is a given so why fuss about it? We ordered a carne asada torta, chipotle chicken torta, and another one (I can't remember which it was) as well as some chili garlic peanuts and their loaded type nachos. All were good quality. Not the best torta I've ever had, as I'm from Southern California, but I'll say their salsas were good, as was their guacamole, and the peanuts were tasty and interesting. We enjoyed it as the ingredients were all of high quality.

Google
The tacos and guac were mediocre at best and absolutely not worth the inflated prices. But the real deal-breaker? We sat down, opened our order, and found queso we never ordered. Before we could even say anything, a staff member walk over, took it off our table, and then RE-SERVED IT to another customer. I’m sorry, but that’s not just unprofessional—that’s straight-up disgusting and a blatant health code violation. If they’re willing to re-serve food that’s already been at someone else’s table, I don’t even want to imagine what goes on behind the counter.

Google
Never going again. I ordered the chicken tacos and the tortillas were ice cold and stale. The tacos had no flavor at all. Really disappointing. Waste of money

Google
Tortazo was a tasty stop! The pork torta with carnitas was absolutely delicious, flavorful and satisfying. The beef birria torta wasn’t quite as good in comparison, but still decent. Worth a visit for the carnitas alone! Be prepared to spend a lot of money!

Google
Ordered the Birria Torta 4/5. Torta was crispy outside soft in the middle. Really tasty with dipping sauce. A little pricey for a sandwich ($23)

Google
It is VERY HARD to get such a low rating from me with of all things carne asada street tacos... These were awful, actually. INSANELY OVERPRICED. The tiny 3 tacos and a small fountain soda ran me $29.24 The tortillas were very dry and edged hard, they are not double wrapped. Each baby taco was 1 corn tortilla instead of the usual 2 tortillas per taco like every other street style taco I've ever had. The taco itself was so skimpy.. and VERY VERY VERY spicy, the Pico was sprinkled at best. I wish I hadn't spent my money here, I didn't eat all the tacos because quite frankly, they were gross and way too hot. Also, I sat here waiting for 3 tacos for almost 20 minutes. I'm just disappointed, and imo, it's unacceptable. Will not order from here ever again. $30 like are you actually kidding me?

Yelp
Stopped by for a quick lunch. Service was fast and incredibly friendly. Wish I got her name but the woman who took my order was very sweet and even suggested her favorites. I ordered the beef birria torta. The side of consomé (birria broth) made the sandwich. Torta was good but the bread was a little on the dry side; my guess day old bread. The consomé was so well seasoned with a little spicy kick. I was confused to see some of the birria meat in my torta was very dry. Simple solution for me was to dip my torta in the consomé but this could easily be avoided if the beef were kept in its juices until the order is prepped. Knowing this I would order extra consomé. The torta would have be been great with two small changes, fresher bread and better meat prep. No picture but portion size is good for one person. I ordered no sides but felt content with just the torta.

Yelp
I remember seeing Rick on tv back in the day cooking so when I saw he had a restaurant in a food court of Caesars I figured we would give it a Try. Now we're not going to focus on price per se because we know anything on the LB strip is inflated. What I will say is what you pay and what you get isn't the same. The sandwich was tasty and had a lot of flavor. But the meat to bread ratio was really off. It was like all bread and a few bites of meat. We have tried their tacos and they are good as well. They do a good job of making sure the food has a lot of flavor. What I don't like is you can't mix and match tacos.

Yelp
My boyfriend loves Rick Bayless so he has been wanting to try this place for a while. We stopped by Caesar's Palace for a quick bite. This location is located in the Caesars Palace food court and definitely one of the more popular ones and I can totally see why. From ordering time to getting the food it honestly wasn't that long of a wait. I imagine it could take a little bit longer if it's really really busy but definitely worth it. I got the Carne Asada one. My boyfriend got the chicken one, but we did a half-and-half trade so we got to try both. I think the carne asada one was my favorite overall comes with the little side salsa that adds extra flavor. Now this restaurant doesn't have its own private seating same with any of the other food court outlet so you will have to find a table out in the general area. But for the most part It's pretty easy to locate one and if you find one that's dirty, There's always people walking around that are constantly cleaning the area so if you wanted to sit somewhere specific, you can definitely call them over to assist! The bread is crunchy on the outside yet soft on the inside. Overall, the sandwich was a 10 out of 10 and I recommend stopping by here on your next visit.

Yelp
Best spot in the food court! For the price, you get a pretty good sized torta! I had the Birria torta and it was amazing! Came with a side of the consume dipping as well. They are a little pricy, but everything in the Caesar's food court will be. They came out pretty quickly, and the lady taking the orders was very nice and personable. The look of this place felt very authentic. I will definitely recommend to anybody staying at Caesar's looking for a quick bite!

Yelp
In Vegas working and hit up the Forums Celebrity Food Court at Caesars. Ended up getting a torta quesobrilla. The sandwich was good. A tad pricey at $20 but not bad considering where you are. The $16 for the Michelada is ridiculously high but that's the going rate for a beer at the venue.
google avatar

Chris M.

Yelp
We're local. Been coming to Caesars forever. Have had many a meal at the food court, long before it transformed into a celebrity food hall. You're at Caesars, fancy place on the Strip. If you're looking for cheap you won't find it here. Was excited to try Rick's place, having seen him on various food shows over the years. Had the quesabirria torta with a dipping consume. $20. The bread was very good. The consume was excellent. The filling was good, just not much of it and lacked something fresh to cut thru the richness of the sandwich.

Yelp
On my recent food run, I stop in at Tortatzo and tried the Cuban based on a vlogger's post. I thought it was pretty good. The meat was tender and tasty, and I would certainly order it again. If you're in Cesars, give them a

Yelp
It's ok- Rick bayless has amazing restaurants and this is not one of them. The torta we ordered was not as flavorful as you would expect from a Birria prepared meat. The bun was lightly toasted but on the dry side. Maybe follow the good to great idea and stick just a couple of items to get it right. I would have chef bayless pop in and see if this is what he intended.
google avatar

Bryan N.

Yelp
Wow that Torta sandwich was fabulous! The guacamole was very fresh with the chips. Very high quality food for a food court type place. Best food I have had in quite some time.

Yelp
While staying in Caesar's palace we decided to eat here for lunch. I ordered the Tortilla Soup and the others ordered different tacos. We were all very impressed by the flavors and taste of the meal. I did not know Trotilla soup could taste like this. Was so good that I had the same thing for dinner later. Cannot wait to buy the ingredients and make this myself. Friendly service also.

Si A.

Yelp
the service was great, and so was the wait time. only issue was the price and food quality. We bought 3 drinks, 2 Tortas, and a quesadilla and the amount due was $90!! the food itself was alright it wasn't dry but the meat was bland and lacked flavor
google avatar

Allison H.

Yelp
I decided to try the Cubana and the Tortilla soup and I quite liked it. The sandwich had good flavor. The tortilla soup tasted fresh. It's interesting how they separated the ingredients from the broth for the tortilla soup. I would have to say the downside is that the food is on the pricier side.
google avatar

Tamieka B.

Yelp
Hubby picked this up and said service was fast. They are located in the Food Court Forum @ Caesar's Palace alongside Bobby's Burgers, Buddy's Pizzeria, Guys Chicken, etc. I opted for the chips and salsa and the carnitas. There is a red chipotle and green tomatillo salsa. Both were very tasty. Tacos are served on a corn tortilla with cilantro and pickled red onions. They were good, but would be better with cheese. Either way, these are a perfect snack that don't require reheating or refrigeration. Make sure to check them out, they've been approved

Yelp
Evelyn and Maria were the best and very kind. They made sure my meal was fresh and really listened. Food was great, I never said a word and offered a quesadilla not on the menu without me asking. SHE READ MY MIND!!! Yum

C G.

Yelp
Was at Caesars for a conference recently and ate at the Celebrity food court for several meals. The party I was with kept returning to Tortazo after trying other options. Food was great consistently and the service just personalized. Maria went above and beyond on multiple occasions by being engaging, thoughtful, and accommodating of a special order repeatedly. She even remembered names in our group! Food was very well prepared and tasty...and the service will absolutely bring me back next time I'm in Vegas!!! Go Tortazo, Maria, and team!!

Yelp
The serves weee really nice but I ordered the Birria tacos and they were so miniature for $20 but also extremely dry. They did have a limeade that was really and clearly freshly squeezed but it's definitely not worth the price to eat there overall.
google avatar

Mark D.

Yelp
I got the Chipotle roasted chicken torta and it was amazing. It was so good that I had to get another. The salsa was also really good and would highly recommend this place if your looking for good food and at the Ceasars palace.
google avatar

Jay M.

Yelp
First time visiting and it's was great all around the crew was nice and the waiting wasn't long. The food I ordered the carnitas and a cabana and it's was great very flavorful great place for sure

Freddy M.

Yelp
Definitely not worth the price, I ordered a torta de Milanese and was so small I had to go out of the casino to buy more food . portion is so small and taste is okay . I can get a better price and amount of food from a street vendor .
google avatar

Marco G.

Yelp
Stopped by Tortazo at Caesars Palace for a quick bite since I wasn't in the mood for a burger. I went in the afternoon, and luckily, it wasn't busy. I ordered the carne asada torta with chimichurri, plus a side of guacamole and chips and a drink. The total came out to around $35--definitely more than I'd hoped to spend for a casual meal, but hunger won. The torta was... fine. The chimichurri added a nice touch, but overall, the flavors didn't quite pop the way I expected. The guacamole was decent, but the portion of chips felt stingy for the price. Did it satisfy my hunger? Yes. Would I go out of my way to return? Probably not. For the cost, I was hoping for something a bit more memorable.

Eduardo V.

Yelp
Food was trash!!! After a long wait, you would think you'd get hot or even warm food. Wrong!!! Food was colder than a polar bears bottom. Horrible service. Would not recommend!!!!

Sally ..

Yelp
I had a great experience with Maria! She was super knowledgeable about the menu and gave great recommendations. I will definitely be coming back because of her.

Fiama D.

Yelp
I tired the quesabirria torta and it was sooo good ! Recommend by Yessenia. She was very sweet and provided amazing service and I'm glad I listened. I'll definitely be back soon to see her and get more recommendations!
google avatar

Sharon L.

Yelp
I went to try Tortazo because I needed something fast to eat before a show. It took 25 minutes from waiting in line to getting my food and it seemed like half of the staff were all out on break at the same time, and there was a lot of confusion happening in the kitchen. It was pricey for 3 tacos but kind of average for everything else in that food court. The flavor of the carnitas tacos were good, but the meat was cold, and they were little bitty street tacos.
google avatar

Sylvia D.

Yelp
GREAT tasting food. Two thumbs up! We had chicken street tacos and fully loaded guacamole. Very fresh. :)
google avatar

Liz R.

Yelp
We grabbed an appetizer before playing swingers, crazy golf. Service was quick and friendly. But like pretty much everything on the strip, the pricing seems a little excessive. This isn't the employee's problem. This is just what happens and is acceptable by Las Vegas Blvd..
google avatar

Samuel G.

Yelp
Expecting great food but was very disappointing. Steak quesadilla had mostly poblano and onions hardly any meat. Churros were dry and lacked flavor. Jamaica was only great thing about this place.

Lysette G.

Yelp
The worst tacos, they need to indicate that they are Mini tacos they are so small with very little meat and to top it off cold, we were very unhappy, don't go there, just awful
google avatar

Scott D.

Yelp
Can't say anything about the food here because I stood waiting to order and was ignored for 5 minutes while the workers were working on the drink machine. Not even a "we'll be with you in a minute". Couldn't they have taken my food order? I wasn't going to get a drink anyway. Won't be back.
google avatar

Carlos P.

Yelp
Please don yourself a favor and avoid this place. Food is horrible! Not worth it at all. I got the torta cubana. No flavor and dry

Stephanie P.

Yelp
My mom bought 3 carne asada tacos so small and for 22 dollars then they charge 6.99 for tap water. Tacos were not good and overpriced for portion size

Gee B.

Yelp
I swear most people on here complaint about the prices!!! Helllooo its vegas on the strip what do you expect!!!! Anywho food was excellent everyone was friendly and nice even the cooks were awesome and fast will definitely recommend this place 5 stars!!

Raul C.

Yelp
Messed up my order twice in the same visit, staff unprofessional. Needs better supervision

R. M.

Yelp
Giving a four star because we can't take ourselves too seriously: this is a walk up counter in a food court serving Mexican food fast. The food is fine and we went back for seconds, but we can't understand how this is a celebrity chef at work.

Robert C.

Yelp
Excellent tacos and the service was fantastic and fast for fresh made food. The price was fair considering we are in Las Vegas. I will definitely eat there again

Nicolas N.

Yelp
Mediocre food. 16$ for two small bottles of water. It's really a shame. I don't mind spending 21$ for a salad and 19$ for a sandwich, but 8$ for a small water it's crazy.
