Rick Bayless’s Bar Sótano Is Hosting a Homecoming Dining Series | Eater Chicago

"Developed from the flagship's blueprint into a mini‑chain, this concept is a collaboration with the owners of the Filipino fast‑food giant Jollibee and represents a retail/fast‑casual extension of tactics used to scale regional Mexican products and concepts." - Serena Maria Daniels

Google
O’Hare Chicago Airport Mexican food option, I ordered Torta de Chorizo con queso it was good , the bread was really close to home, Fernando the bar tender did a good job, the food was ready in 10 min. Good option if you are in a rush or what to sit down for a nice Mexican beer in the Bar.

Oh my...where do I begin!? An absolutely over the top experience @tortazo! It was very slow when I walked in, yet I was warmly greeted by Alena. Knew the menu, and answered all of my questions without hesitation. I ordered a almost naked guac. As she explained the options that were available to me. I also ordered the chicken milanesa with black beans. I have to say this so everyone hears me.....this torta was made with love...you can taste it. The service, quality of food, cool atmosphere, and of course over the top customer service! This will be my new go to in Will county....it's worth the ride people! Thank you Chef!

The people working here are nice. That's where it ends. The food portions are dinky, over-priced, and not good by any measure. I find it hard to believe that a casino would have a place this bad. I can't imagine anyone eating here a second time. I sure won't. Go to the other sandwich shop located in the casino. While it's also a bit expensive, the food is good and a decent portion size. This place is the worst place in IL to get mexican food.

Portion sizes are small. Food is not good. Please bring in something better. $10.00 for a half of an avocado(guacamole) is crazy. If these meals weren’t comped I would be really upset.

Believe the reviews! I'm Mexican American and I even agree with another reviewer that Taco Bell tastes better this place! I like salty food, but they obviously emptied out the whole salt shaker onto the food! The ochata drink was overwhelmingly sweet! I had to use 3/4 of a water to bring down the sweetness! Wow, but the food is pretty horrible! And to add insult to injury, the prices for the food items are not cheap and they're small portions! Sorry guys, Rick Bayless Coperate Headquarters Offices need to make some changes in staff or management at this location for this establishment to survive staying in business, especially since we might be heading to an economic recession this fall. Hey, just keeping it real.

Google
17 bucks for a mini carne asada torta made in a microwave. That's like two bowls at Chipotle and a whole meal at other authentic Mexican restaurants. No I do not have abnormally large hands, that is how small it was

I dont like to leave bad reviews but at restaurant at Harrahs in Joliet was not only expensive but they barely put any steak and not enough toppings on our torta! Very unsatisfied.

Yelp
We came here as my dad frequents this casino often. We had heard good things about Tortazo. First off, I have to say that the staff was outstanding and went absolutely above and beyond. It seems like they've been in business for some time and they are providing excellent customer service. Food itself was okay - the guacamole was good, wings were tasty, salad was okay. I got the same feedback about my parents' tortas. I think they have a good concept though and hope that it comes to life a little more. As I said though, staff was the standout here. They were excellent. Food may need some tweaks but there's promise here. Location is modern for being in this casino. I hope to see it evolve more with flavor of the food.

Yelp
The food here is amazing! The quality was well above what you might think in a fast/casual setting. Will definitely come back! Gracias Rick!

Yelp
We checked into the Harrah casino late and was hungry. First sign we saw was Tortazo. We walked to the restaurant, nice location. You don't have to go into the casino floor, it's just on the otherside of the wall from the slot machines. We ordered mushroom quesadilla, birria torta, and guacamole. It also came with the fried pinwheels. Birria was delicious. Quesadilla was OK, this cream sauce made the entree salty. Service was great, we ordered at the counter to go.

Yelp
The restaurant is right before you enter the casino. I didn't know what to expect but it was decent. It's a small restaurant with a couple of tables. Service was alright but the food quality was delicious, although pricey. The salsa was small but it had great taste. We tried 3 different tortas. Milanesa, asada, and the chipotle chicken. Each one was sooo good. I would definitely go back!

Yelp
It was decent. I ordered a milanesa de pollo torta it was good but over priced. Different flavors for sure which I liked. But doesn't come with any sides or drink just the torta that cost $17. The guy that greeted me was nice and recommended me some things on menu. Will have to go back and try something different.

Yelp
The only reason for eating a casino restaurant was the coupon that I had from the casino. It seems like they are still a little wet behind the ears here, the service seemed a little shaky. Order a torta and a soda, even though they list diet soda, it doesn't exist. Someone else here mentioned the same thing, so this is not a new issue. The sandwich had barely any meat on it, more bread than anything else. Also why standing there, another customer ordered tacos, they looked very small and with no substance. The restaurant was clean but it seem very sparse and cold feeling.

Yelp
Oh my gosh it was so good and the food tasted so fresh. The green sauce is still on my mind. I loved ilt and would totally recommend this cute little quaint restaurant.

Yelp
I generally go to places I enjoy therefore my reviews are usually positive. This time I went with a friend to the Harrahs casino and wanted to try their new restaurant. It is like any fast food restaurant. You stand in queue. The cashier gives you a number that you take to a seat just like in Culvers. I asked for a diet cola and was told they have no diet drinks at all, only sugared. (cocktails and beer available too) OK so I requested water. The cashier has to get it for you from behind the counter. So when I wanted more I would have had to go up by the line. So I didn't go up. I had the steak&rajas quesadilla ($17) and my friend had the chicken&bacon quesadilla ($15). It was like one large tortilla filled and folded over. Cut into 3 pieces. Each had a small container of sauce. The chicken wasn't bad but the steak quesadilla had so much oil it was dripping all over. Yellow grease in the paper it was presented in. As I lifted it the grease kept dripping out. I couldn't eat it and took it home. Never did eat it though. For the price I won't be back. Two stars because the people who work there are friendly and trying hard. The person I asked for a box had to get it and did it with a smile.
