The number one rule that I say is that if you can’t order the food in English then it’s not the right place to go. I’m saying this because every good Mexican place I go to nobody speak English. The food here is amazing especially the tamales. They also have different type of desserts including mexican bread. You can either sit down and eat or take your food to go.

Google
We tried the Thursday through Sunday only menu of the chargrilled tlayuda and chargrilled tacos. Everything was very good. Well worth the visit. Also got a couple chicken tamales, and they were very good too.

Tortilleria Rostiseria Imperial is hands down one of the best places to experience delicious Mexican cuisine. From the moment you step inside, you are greeted with a warm and inviting atmosphere that instantly makes you feel at home. First and foremost, their tortillas are simply outstanding. Made fresh on-site, these tortillas are soft, flavorful, and absolutely addictive. Whether you’re enjoying them with their mouthwatering carnitas or savoring them on their own, every bite is a delight. The variety of dishes offered at Tortilleria Rostiseria Imperial is impressive. From their sizzling fajitas to their flavorful enchiladas, each dish is expertly prepared and bursting with authentic Mexican flavors. The generous portion sizes ensure that you’ll leave satisfied and with a smile on your face. What sets this place apart is their commitment to using the freshest ingredients. The produce is always crisp, the meats are tender, and the flavors are vibrant. Everything is made with love and it truly shines through in every bite. In addition to the incredible food, the customer service at Tortilleria Rostiseria Imperial is top-notch. The staff is friendly, attentive, and eager to make your dining experience memorable. They are always ready to answer any questions you may have and offer excellent recommendations. If you’re searching for a fantastic Mexican restaurant that offers unbeatable quality, Tortilleria Rostiseria Imperial is the place to go. Whether you’re in the mood for a quick lunch or a leisurely dinner, you won’t be disappointed. It’s a true gem that should not be missed.

Animo good food for it being in Georgia

Google
I ordered a variety of tacos and tamales for take out, and they were generally pretty good, though not quite as good as El Taco Veloz. A few other notes: 1) You might have to order in Spanish. 2) There's a whole grocery store that I haven't explored. 3) On balance, the tamales were better than the tacos. 4) I'll definitely be back

Google
Read the online menu but go to the right of the store and ask a lot of questions at the head of the line when you arrive to find out what’s sold out and what off-menu items are available. The large quesadilla al pastor was really good, and I’m typically not a quesadilla person. Huge too. Tamales were good, tacos looked good, but next time I’m going straight for a quesadilla.

Google
This place has amazing food and great prices but the staff there aren’t the nicest and are always with an attitude by asking any little question . Only reason I still go here is because the food is good but the service is terrible .

Google
Amazing arachera tacos but who in this world adds been to flautas that was the least authentic part of their plate

Yelp
Per my coworker's recommendation, we ordered from here for lunch a few months ago, when I meant to post this review. I can't speak on service or ambiance since a fellow coworker picked it up for us, but the food was great! I got the enchiladas (corn tortillas rolled with shredded chicken and covered with a chili pepper sauce and topped with cream and queso fresco). It had very authentic flavors shining through. Loved it! I also enjoyed chips with a few different salsa/hot sauce options. One of my favorites was the salsa de chile de árbol. Delicious! I look forward to trying more dishes from here some time soon!

Yelp
Update from my previous review. Quality has gone down drastically over the years. The variety they used to have is not really there anymore. The tamales are way too expensive and they're bad to be honest. Would no longer recommend.

Yelp
There are couple side to this restaurant. There is restaurant side and grocery store side. This is a cool place where the meat looks delicious and butcher on spot! We needed to know basic Spanish to order food. We were successful! My wife got vegetarian burrito and I got cow tongue! Cow tongue is a must if you are at a legitimate mexican restaurant! The food is delicious! Service is great!

Yelp
Super friendly and my tlayuda was amazing. You can taste everything is made from scratch with love. My friend's arrachera tacos looked great too with plenty of grilled onion:D

Yelp
10/10, would recommend anytime!! Seriously. The barbacoa was plentiful and the rice and beans were delicious, if you're in the doraville/norcross area please try if possible.

Yelp
Tacos were great. Everyone was nice. Be ready to speak some Spanish which is always a good time. Unfortunately there wasn't air conditioning working so it was tough to enjoy the experience. Will visit again soon in hopes the A/C is working.

Lila M.

Yelp
Love their tamales and hand made tortillas! Don't buy the chicharrones - they were stale and expensive at $10.95/bag.

Jessica C.

Yelp
Awesome! The best tacos I have ever had, and I am particular. Even better than the ones I was able to get while living in Texas. I love tripa but I can never get it made as crispy as I'd like- but this place CAME THROUGH. I did request extra crispy (bien dorade). The best tripa taco of my life, hands down. The Al pastor taco was also excellent. I wish I had gotten more. The staff present during my visit did not speak English but they did not get frustrated with my terrible Spanish. They were patient with me and I received exactly what I requested. There is a large, nice, open seating area inside where you can eat, as well as grocery items. Tortillas are obviously made fresh. Bathroom was clean and well maintained. I was in a rush and got my tacos to-go so couldn't check out the rest of the store but I will definitely be back! 11/10

Yelp
I had never been to this place before and it was pouring rain and I was starved and afraid with the raid Id be late to an appointment across town so I pulled in here. It looks like 2 different business but inside its all one. I see the chili rellenos first, #20, so that was it! They are my favorite. Uh...at least elsewhere. You go pay at a stand and then you get a slip to claim your food. They kept the one with a price on it....I hate that. So off I go with the Chili rellenos. It is hard to eat and drive in the car on a rainy day so I shouldnt have but I bit a relleno and its hard as a rock! WHAT??? The dish was a few cents shy of $15.00 and this was terrible. The cheese nasty and hard like wax too. I chew and its crunchy like chewing radishes. The skin was still on and they were not cooked. So they had the outer layer that a proper chef gets rid of and peels after they have steamed. That way you get a soft cooked wonderful chili relleno but here like biting into a carrot or something. I just dont know how they can go so wrong. I have lived in several states that were once part of Mexico.....I have a home in Mexico and my Residente Permanente. Im not a fool, but this stuff????? HORRIBLE. The little smidgen of rice was good but it was only about 1 tablespoon. Maybe they dont know how to cook these. Times are tough and maybe they just threw a new hire in the kitchen. It happens a lot. Or what happens a lot, is they get 1 cookbook, and they base the WHOLE restaurant on this one book. Then reading is difficult to nil so they look at the pictures only and there ya go! I will have to make some of my own. I have the poblanos in the garden already, but you can buy them in decent quality in lots of stores too. We can get them pretty much year round too. For those that dont know you roast them on a grill or in the top shelf in the over, then put them in a plastic sack and cool. If done right the nasty skin pulls right off. Wear thin kitchen gloves. Get the seeds out the best you can while keeping the chili pretty much intact. Stuff it with white cheese, roll in a wet dough covering it all and deep fry. Using a toothpick is acceptable to keep it all together but in time you can do without. So few places have them anymore as getting it right is hard. Many serve frozen or reheated ones....(DONT). Whatever you do though DONT buy one here.

Yelp
Food is excellent. While everybody speaks Spanish, English speakers will have no trouble ordering. Friendly service. Dining area is available, or you can carry out. Small grocery store, a variety of breads, and a meat counter on the premises.

Yelp
If you really want to eat authentic Mexican food in Atlanta you have to go to this place, everything is very clean, you can look at the menu on the wall, they also have authentic food they have many different dishes and another very important thing they also make the tortillas there are fresh and hot their specialty of them is rotisserie chicken if you want to really try Mexican food you have to go see this place
google avatar

Ed B.

Yelp
Great food with great prices. Very authentic! I recommend this restaurant. Tribe of Issachar keep doing your thang!

C C.

Yelp
Clean, lots of good choices and good serving sizes. I ordered carnitas and they were good. I was surprised to find the bone in the meat but no big deal as the meat just falls off the bone it's so tender. The plates include rice & refried beans. You can dine in, and there's a nice table section with a salsa station. You can also add chopped cilantro onion and radish from the salsa station
google avatar

Stefanie C.

Yelp
The Carne Asada tacos are sooo good! No one speaks good English but that's just a minor set back. I dined in and they even brought the food out to me in a different part of the store. I had to go back and order some more. No bad vibes here!

Yelp
I've driven by this place probably 1000 times and didn't really notice it. Doesn't look like much from the street. But what a gem! It's a small Mexican grocery. They have an interesting selection of Mexican provisions. But the real reason to come, is they have a rotisserie which is cranking out all sorts of delicious Mexican meats, ribs, pork, chicken, etc and they are making fresh Tortillas in house, on which to put said meats. First visit, I ordered two (rotisserie) chicken tacos on flour (harina) tortillas. Few authentic Mexican places offer flour tortillas, much less homemade ones. I enjoy corn tortillas as well, but the option for flour was nice. These were the best flour tortillas I have ever, ever, had. I got a package of (warm) tortillas from the grocery store to take home. I also got a red mole tamale, which was in the top 3 best I've ever had as well. Despite the other reviews saying no English spoken here. Both people I interacted with, the person who took my order and the cashier spoke excellent English. I did try ordering in my 'mucho no bueno' Spanish [much to their amusement].
google avatar

Shelise M.

Yelp
I was really nervous about going because the reviews mentioned lack of English. However we definitely made it work and I was happy about it. So I got there around 730-8pm. I ordered the chicken plate (rice, beans, salad, chicken) and two carne asada tacos (cilantro and onions). The tacos were bomb!!!!!!!! Like omg they were so good. The chicken plate however was ugh iffy. I would definitely go back for the tacos.
google avatar

Dina C.

Yelp
A little and busy hole in wall with a grocery, baked goods, juices, and hot foods. The baked goods and tamales were very good, but the carne asada and chicken tacos were very bland (marination was undetectable) and dry. I will stick with Don Pedros up the road for my taco fix.
google avatar

Kimi M.

Yelp
Great place for Tamales! They have at least 6 or 7 kinds; I am working on trying them all. Good thing about this place is that they open fairly early, so you can get there before traffic and have a terrific meal. This place is truly authentic and it's a good thing that I took several years of Spanish-very little English is spoken here. I was a bit rusty, but knew enough to place my order. A whole in the wall indeed, but some of the best salsa and tamales around!
google avatar

Tomasu L.

Yelp
My wife is "fresh off the boat" from Mexico City, so we're always looking for the best Mexican food in town. She was looking for a place that had good tamales, and we hit the jackpot! Needless to say, she's a happy Chilango!
google avatar

Stephen G.

Yelp
Was driving up Buford Highway and had to make a sudden right turn when I saw the sign that said Tamale House. Parking lot was crowded and I went in and there was a line of people in front of a cafeteria style display of food. If you are not used to Mexican foods, you probably only recognize the chicken. There was tamales, poblano, chicken necks, 2 types of ribs, an assortment of pig parts and more. They make tortillas there and you can get a variety of guacamole and salsas there. There if a fruteria section and a panaderia section as well as meat market. There is a place to sit and eat as well. My tamales were a bit wet still but good and spicy. I will be back
google avatar

Yelp
Fantastic hole in the wall Mexican! I had two Tamales ($1.99 ea) and a cheese filled tortilla. The Tamales were the best I ever had. The cheese filled tortilla was fantastic. Definitely coming back for another lunch, inexpensive, great food and quick!

Key J.

Yelp
Best tamales I've had from a Mexican restaurant, the lady who took my order spoke no English, a young lady had to translate for me

Fred G.

Yelp
Wow! I should have read the review down below before going. This place is unbelievably racist. Even though I speak Spanish, the old woman taking orders refused to take my order and the only reason I can think of is because I am white. She wouldn't look at me or converse with me. She actually called a younger girl over to talk with me and lie that there were no more tamales even though I was looking at a huge pile of tamales in front of me. VERY creepy and unfriendly vibe to the place and I was shocked to be so discriminated against. This old woman was just evil and should not be interacting with the public. The accusations of racism against this place are 100% true. I would suggest only going there if you are Mexican. The place looked dirty anyway so maybe they saved me from a bout with food poisoning. Stay away from this place!

Yelp
Man I can eat here 3 maybe even 4,5 times a day I just love this place and I live right down the street from this place its like another home for me the people are awesome and friendly
google avatar

Cecilia A.

Yelp
I absolutely love this place because it's a REAL authentic Mexican food restaurant. All the dishes are really good (specially the ribs and Mole poblano) and it's not an expensive place. They make fresh tortillas, have a small super market, bakery and ice cream shop all inside the restaurant but there's an specific eating area too. It's not a fancy place but it is super homey. Only downside for me was I went on Sunday twice already and it was so busy and crowded, I had to wait a lot just to pay. So now I know to go on a week day to dine in or I just order over the phone and pick up on weekends. Definitely recommend
google avatar

Gretchen S.

Yelp
Pop in for some amazingly good simple tacos made by kind folks that barely understand English but will smile and help you along. Asada is delicious- and only $1 each! Check out the wall of amazing baked treats too. I will definitely be back!
google avatar

Yelp
Great Mexican Takeout. Has a large set of steam tables with home style Mexican food to go. They are also making their own tortillas..Pupusas.....Tamalies...Chilies Rellianos..all kinds of pork and chicken...ribs being my favorite. They have the usual bakery and some ice cream and special drinks. They make their own hot pickeled vegetables. There is a side of the place that has tables but I have always gotten my food to go. Prices are very reasonable. Sometimes there is an employee that speaks English. Or, I will ask some one in line to speak for me . I will also point to what I want. Hidden Gem. Looks divey but is very friendly and delicious. Highly recommend.

Yelp
First El Grill now this!!!!!!!!!! I absolutely love this place & I wilds be returning again, and again, and AGAINIIIII I got three tacos (2 chicken 1 chorizo) & a chili relleno = a drink for ....... $7.65 & everything was AMAZING!!!!!!!!!! If you are in the area or just looking for a great spot this is it!!!
google avatar

Average G.

Yelp
Been by so many times but I finally stopped by to check out the place and went with my usual torta de asada...and man, that was a great torta! Probably one of the largest tortas I've ever had but the quality matched the quantity. The horchata was on point as well. And the kitchen includes a bakery with some delicious looking goods (tho we didn't try any this time)...and the kitchen is attached to a larger bodega style store with much more food and drinks to take home. From the road it doesn't seem like much but if you like the more authentic style of Mexican food, stop by, it's worth a shot. I know I'll be back soon enough...

Yelp
This gem was found completely by accident. I had no idea this place was even a restaurant/eatery. I had the carne asada with salad/beans/rice and my love had an arrangement of yumiminess!! A pound of ribs that were delish, and a mix of sausage, potatoes, onions, and chilis. (We also got 1/2 Pound of corn tortillas) The food came out piping, the staff was friendly (hardly spoke English - that's ok - they have someone to help translate, and you can point haha). They also have pastries that looked good but, I didn't try them. (Next time). We did pay more for our meal then we wanted ... That's ok. We will be back. The thing I love the most about Buford HWY is you can't blink or you'll miss something. I cannot to go back to this place.

Yelp
Hands down the BEST corn tamales I've had this side of the border. I think its a separate business, but their taqueria and ice cream stand are good as well. Fresh ingredients across the board!

Yelp
I was driving home after a meal in historic Norcross and saw the sign for this place and handmade tamales. I pulled into the parking lot and looked it up on yelp and saw the terrific reviews so I went inside. There is a hot food section, a bakery, a meat counter, and some space with tables to eat if you want to eat there. Things seem to be reasonably priced and I was grateful that I knew a little Spanish because I could ask some questions. The chicken tamales are rojo and verde, The red one is slightly soicer according to the kind woman taking my order so I get one of those and a sweet corn. I saw the pupusas and will try them next time. The tamales were under two dollars each. They were both excellent! Their chicken looked very good in the hot bar area as well as the mole. I'm looking forward to getting more tamales to bring to my mother who loves them. It's the real deal.

Meredith A.

Yelp
This hidden treasure is legit. Tortillas made on site and amazing tamales. The service was quick, the staff friendly, and the chicken cooked perfectly. Even my 4 yo devoured his meal.
