Where to find the best Mexican restaurants on East Lake Street | Eater Twin Cities

"If you’re looking for something heartwarming or to break a stuffy nose, try La Perla’s pozole, a stew with hominy and chicken with toppings. There’s nothing more Mexican than eating boiling soup on a 90-degree day. Don’t forget to pick up a topo chico, freshly-made juice, or some pan dulce on your way out." - Adrian Diaz

From a semi truck delivery point of view, it's not great, but it's not bad. Docks are on the northwest corner of the building, off the alley. Turn into the parking lot on the south side, off 26th Ave. Go up the alley to the north, and back into the dock, which will be at your 5 o'clock behind you. I strongly suggest trying to get in there by 5AM, as you'll have more room to maneuver around on the surrounding streets before people start waking up and going to work. It is very well lit on the parking area and the alley.

Small store in the front of the factory. Best tortillas in Minneapolis in my opinion. They've got flour and corn tortillas of many sizes!

I have been purchasing the tortilla chips from La Perla for several months now. The quality is unmatched. The tortillas are fresh, flavorful and authentic. They are not overly salted and a perfect texture. What truly stands out is their customer service. Prompt responses and friendly service. I highly recommend for anyone seeking premium tortillas and top-tier service.

False advertising with a slew of unnatural ingredients, their supposed “blue” corn tortillas are just a bunch of dyes and food coloring. There is no real blue corn in these tortillas. Way to take advantage of people that are looking for healthy traditional blue corn tortillas.

Yelp
Didn't expect it but, Totilleria La Perla was definitely excellent. It was a remarkable experience. Everything was incredibly flavorful and tasty. Staff are incredibly friendly. They're attentive, polite and always on their game. Would 10/10 recommend and will certainly be back soon.

Yelp
You ever wonder where many of the local mexican restaurants get their fresh chips from? This is one of the places that makes them and they sell direct to the public as well. Cub and Kowalski's also carry some of their products too. Hard to go back to freezer Tortillas once you have the fresh ones. They make and sell: CORN TORTILLA TORTILLA CHIPS FRIED TORTILLA CHIPS FLOUR TORTILLA MASA

Yelp
Tortillas do not get better than this. They don't fall apart when you wrap them (like most brands), they stay soft and have the perfect amount of chewiness when you warm them. And they taste better than everything else, too (always fresh-tasting, a flavor that lasts and lasts, and never any of that "cheap flour" taste like most brands have). If the food at the restaurant is even close to as good as the La Perla products you can buy in the grocery store, then I really need to go. (Also, their chips taste like they were just made and I'm guessing their corn tortillas - which I have in the kitchen, now, for the first time - are going to be as good as if I was making them fresh, myself.) I love having this family-owned business as part of my city!
